We stopped into Henry's Rooftop Bar to kill a little time while wandering around Charleston. The building itself is kind of a maze, with seating spread across multiple levels, and it felt a bit hodgepodge to me. I grabbed a cocktail at the bar and while it was perfectly good, it wasn't particularly memorable. The bartender wasn't overly kind. The rooftop itself was also a bit underwhelming. I was hoping for sweeping views of Charleston but the scenery didn't quite live up to my expectations. One thing to note is that the nearby stables for Old South Carriage Company are close enough that you'll occasionally catch... well... the aromas drifting through the air. Not exactly what I was hoping to pair with my cocktail. Overall, I'm glad we stopped in for a drink, but I don't think it's a place I'd go out of my way to visit again. There are simply too many other rooftop bars and cocktail spots in Charleston I'd be more inclined to try in the future. read more

Henry's is a multilevel funhouse of adults indulgences located in the heart of downtown Charleston. It honestly kind of reminds me of those multilevel joints in Nashville on Broadway that have a band on every floor and it's full of people looking for a good time to get lost in the music (and the sauce). I highly recommend going to Henry's before the cover charge at the door kicks in (which is probably around 9pm if I had to guess). It's better to be there earlier before any music starts than trying to come in later when the line is down the block and you're surrounded by the newly inducted 21 year olds. Hip venue. Limited seating...very popular location so you have to wait your turn to go up the elevator. Cool venue. We went here on a "ghost tour," and this stop was for a cocktail only. You definitely go here for the views and probably drinks. The soup got them a three. It was flavorful and very delicious minus the stale crackers. The salad was very basic. Please excuse my divaness... Any place I have to go get my own luke warm water and eat with plastic utensils will never get above a three. It felt like the food was an afterthought. We love going to Henry's rooftop when we are in town. The live music is typically pretty good the atmosphere is amazing and we always have a blast. The drinks are sometimes better than others so if you're not overly excited about your bartender/drink just have one of the other folks make your next one. read more

Henry's is one of my favorite go-to hangouts in Charleston. Whether you want to sit inside and eat, listen to live music, or enjoy the views from the rooftop, Henry's is the place to go. They have a great drink and food menu and I usually order a couple of appetizers. The oysters are amazing! I love sitting on one of the three levels of the rooftop and enjoy the views of the market. Fun experience at the rooftop! The live music was such a hit, even on the rainy day we were having on our first day in our Charleston visit. They don't have any draught beers, so I went with a Moscow Mule and it was average/below average unfortunately. I'll stick with the bottled beers next time. Henry's is always a fun spot for a drink and friends night out. We usually Uber because we do drink but if we have a DD we usually find easy parking on market street but we are early birds so we do go out earlier so maybe that's why we usually find good parking. Disclaimer ive never had food here just drinks... but I sure do love their drinks and vibes. I love all the different rooms and the rooftop. So much fun, when anyone comes into town I highly recommend this place just because all the vibes you can't go wrong. It can get very busy during summer but just wait it out. I do wish there was a few more seating options but you can't really fit more into the size of that place, so I understand. Bathrooms are clean, drinks are 10/10 we love the mule. They have live music sometimes which is fun. My tip get there early, grab a drink from second bar and head to the rooftop and stay there for awhile. It's worth it and the sunsets are always pretty. Excellent summer dining experience if you can find a spot in the shade. Went out with a huge group for Sunday lunch and was able to fit everyone in the covered area by the bar. Service was friendly and attentive given how large our group was. Ordered the pimento cheese tray appetizer and the Carolina chicken salad. Pimento cheese is always one of my favorites, and this was no exception. The chicken salad was not too heavy thanks to the addition of dill. Croissant isnt my preferred vessel but it did it's job. I have to be honest, I was not too impressed. When we saw the rooftop from the street we were excited to get up there. The view was okay. You had to order your drink from the bar, then go to the rooftop. That was a bit disappointing. You go to a rooftop bar to sit and enjoy, not spend ten minutes ordering drinks then bringing them up a flight of stairs. I ordered an old fashioned that was presented well, yet had little taste. Definitely a 1 and done for us. There was also a constant putrid smell of horse dung, due to the horse carriages that are located just below. read more

Before I forget Stephanie is FUN when it comes to dealing with slightly inebriated patrons ... not that I know anything about that or if that's her real name. So we saw this place looking out from the market. The roof was high and looked like a move so we mozied on over. It's an interesting walk up. There are 3 levels of indoor and outdoor seating and on Saturday it was pretty packed. We had a outdoor seat on the main level originally but we HURRIED when a party left off the upper roof top. We finally got prime seating. We started off with mimosas for 4$ eventually made it doubles for 8$. We were served in paper cups but thought nothing of it because you know ... COVID. The menu was pretty extensive but we ordered from the appetizer section. The more we drank the more we ate. So after it was all said and done we ordered the alligator fritters (which came with fries), fried oysters (my favorite OMG), fried shrimp (not impressed), and peel and eat shrimp( not impressed), mini crab cakes (really enjoyed) and lastly a the tomatoes and cucumber salad (could've went back). Honestly though the vibe was so cool, the drinks were so lit , and the fried oyster were literally the best I've ever had. This place will ALWAYS see my face when I make it to Charleston. Despite it being super packed you were able to relax. The seating was pretty much like that southern porch seating. Cushions and wicker. It puts you in a place of comfort. The view is equally beautiful. I was so comfortable I might've graced the other patrons with my Apple playlist ... but like I said, this place was just cool like that. Wow, this is my kind of place! A cool bar inside with a live band playing in the evening, plus two rooftop bars on multiple levels, with another different live band playing! Staff is friendly and wearing masks during the pandemic. They even have a complimentary cooler of water outside to serve yourself to make sure you're constantly hydrated under the hot sun. Five stars for the baroque eclectic decor and awesome maze-like roof. Cool band playing. I'd definitely come back if I was in town.
