It was also my first time using Thumbtack. I scrolled through some of the more "popular" and higher-priced photographers, who also had a ton of reviews, but did not feel that their style was what I was looking for. When Dustin contacted me, I wasn't sure in the beginning due to his sparse reviews; however, upon visiting his website and IG, I was impressed with his portfolio and the depth shown in all of his photos. However, most of the pictures were of outdoor weddings and my party was mostly an indoor event. But it was just days before my event, and his price was within my budget, so I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. On the day of the event, Dustin arrived even earlier than I did to the restaurant. Upon seeing him, he was already looking around, scoping out the venue, checking the lighting, and taking test shots. I gave him very little instructions to work with - all I wanted were some family portraits and candid shots of the party. From there, he snapped away for 3+ hours, always patient and in the background of a very chaotic Asian party, and I barely noticed he was there the whole time. Fast forward 9 days (5 business days), I received the thumb drive that I provided Dustin for the photos. He ended up producing and edited almost 400 photos, double what I had expected. As my husband and I scrolled through the pictures, it reconfirmed that we totally made the right choice going with him - he brought all of the care and detail and atmospheric elements of his romantic outdoor weddings to a loud, disorganized brunch party and made everything look timeless, precious and heartwarming. Not only that, he provided color AND black & white versions in both high AND low resolutions. That meant I got 4 copies of each shot to play around with! Dustin blew all of my expectations away from his professionalism the day of, his quick turnaround time, and ultimately, the amazing final photos. Hire this guy, you won't regret it!

It was a beautiful setting and Dustin did a great job of using the backdrop but not having it be everything. He captured the people in a perfect way. The angles and the layouts were great. The color composition was perfect. On top of all the normal photo stuff he just came across as a super down to earth guy who loves what he does. When he first got to the venue he handed me two bottles of champagne as a "congrats". He was super sneaky - he caught shots of things when I had no clue he was even close to me at the time. He was super laid back about the whole setting and was really into enjoying the space and the outdoors. I would definitely reach out to him if you're doing anything outside. When we had an online meeting, confirmed the dates and even corrected the owner on the CORRECT DATE being March 11th NOT MAY, to which he told us he would fix but now we know he didn't. And we did sign a contract and even paid for the services early. How would we pay for our services and have date saved if we didn't have contract or confirmed booking? Make it make sense. Mind you, we booked/had a meeting in AUGUST of 2023. And yes, a replacement photographer was offered AFTER the wedding had started and our venue was in Benicia. It would've taken them some time to get to our venue with their business being in SACRAMENTO and even IF they would have been able to arrive within 15-30 minutes, they would've missed the getting ready pictures for our bridal party and ceremony. I can't believe this business is trying to pull this stunt about 2 years after the fact to try and save face? This is absolutely disgusting behavior. Again, I would not recommend this business. We had direct contact with Rita from the moment we booked with her. She is so kind, patient, and professional. Our first face-to-face encounter with her was during our consultation.
