Want a true long ADHD non bot non fiction story? I bought a foreign vehicle in late 2019 that does require a professional especially if you're not 100% sure you can tackle it yourself. It was really hard to find a place that I didn't know even where to look to address this car. So I found Swanson and man named John ran it, always had solid service, good quality without hurting my wallet. Now here comes the story so bear with me. John was class and did great work and if you took your vehicle to Swanson before 2022 you most certainly had great service too. Unfortunately he had to tend to family back in England, I believe it was his dad that was sick and sold the place to guy named Steve AKA piece of shit. That MFer, took over and ran it into the ground in less than 3 or so years, while having my car for 8 months as he totally screwed people and thank god not he's the owner anymore. A new owner bought the place and replaced Steve who was stealing tools and buying stuff on store credit which he didn't own anymore and was immediately fired and replaced by Chris. He is the new management and we had some interesting conversations in the time we have known each other. Never had arguments and honestly if he didn't inherited a shitstorm there would have been only positive talk and has done everything he can to a degree to help me all because of the 2nd owner Steve messed up big time. I've brought 3 vehicles up there including the one I'm talking about now and besides the fluid change of diff, trans, and oil he's not charging me for removing and correctly reinstalling front end by securing the underside from the front splitter, which has seems to have been a problem even though I got the car like that and had no issues till Steve. So Chris will secure the plastic under trays as I bought the hardware and he's changing both TPS sensors as well as doing an other alignment which I did pay for and one sensor but will redo it and pay for the second sensor and do it free of charge like he originally told me months back concerning this car and guarantee his work. He originally said he would help reinstall my car and not charge me labor if I supplied the materials which I honestly wasn't extremely happy about as I was upset with Steve the previous owner as he charged me and left my car worse than when I dropped it off so it took time with Chris and I. I wasn't mad at him I was just mad and pissed off and he was the only one I could present this to. Btw this car has a long story but that's another story.... So I brought one vehicle and another and slowly started moving in a positive direction. I can attest that he is honest and does guarantee his work as we unfortunately had a mishap on top end repair and it wasn't even his fault but since the vehicle was in his possession he replaced the whole motor and redid everything for no cost. Now don't look to get a free ride or try and take advantage because first that's wrong and second if he refuses something then he has a very, very good reason. I have brought him domestic and non domestic vehicles and they have done superb work plus he's really easy going and not gimmicky. He's got a good tech in the back which unfortunately I always forget his name for some stupid reason but he's really thorough. So he has held his word as I'm patiently waiting on my car now and it will be done even sooner than I thought, will give updates on how the car looks and drives. Oh and Swanson has a phenomenal deals on batteries so don't go to discount or auto zone. Chris saved me over $100 when I mentioned in conversation that I needed a battery for my truck at the house. So Swanson is whole again!!! Look for conclusion to my car very soon. read more

Update 11/20/20: Unfortunately I had to look for another mechanic. Having decided to having my a/c compressor replaced I placed three calls to John hoping to have my a/c repaired as soon as possible. None were ever returned. A disappointment. read more

I've been using Swansons since moving to Florida in 2007 and was thoroughly satisfied. Last September I contacted them to have a 65,000 mile service for my Subaru Forester, oil change, tire rotation, brake inspection, and fluids check. The owner convinced me to allow him to perform the 75,000 mile service. One thousand eight hundred dollars later the service was finished, including an after market alternator. I've never experienced so many call back issues ever. Twice for a squealing belt, then at least three times for warning lights. The third time a loose grounding bolt was tightened for $60. Finally, the last time the alternator was replaced again. Not a month after the second alternator I was stranded because the battery wasn't charging and I had to be towed home. I finally took my vehicle to Sunset Subaru and all is good now. read more

Steve at Swanson's is exceptional. Extremely knowledgeable guy on all makes and models with the skills to handle just about any job. In addition to that, he will go above and beyond for his customers and I trust him completely with my cars. I had a very finicky older Mercedes that Steve took on methodically and patiently, not rushing, but working diligently towards the necessary solutions. I took my car to Swanson's to have it checked after visiting another center, this place is great! I was told that the issue I was having wasn't as the other center told me. They checked my car to find a spark plug wire was bad and replaced it. The total wasnt even close to what I was quoted at the other place. I felt Swanson's was honest and really wanted to make me their customer. They have very clean shop and the waiting area had free coffee and wifi too! It was a real pleasure to find a place that I can take my car and not have to worry about them trying to sell me things I didn't need. Came to Sarasota for vacation, as soon as I got here my crankshaft sensor went out. That Monday I took my cat to them, super friendly mechanic and awesome receptionist. I drove my volvo to Sarasota from Massachusetts. When we got there it started making a very loud squeaky noise. I brought it in to Swanson's. The owner dropped what he was doing and helped us immediately. He was able to diagnose the problem right away. I left the car with him as he had to order some parts. He called a few hours later to say the car was all fixed and ready to pick up. The price was very fair. In addition to he added some oil to the hood hinge that was having problems opening and added some coolant that we had bought at no charge. I would highly recommend this repair shop. read more

I have had Swanson's do work on my car quite a few times - everything from fixing a flat and oil changes to new brakes and engine work. I very much appreciate Ed's willingness to both explain the problem and to show me the problem under the hood, etc. And I believe Ed's pricing is very fair. Service has always been on time and the mechanics have always been courteous and helpful. They really have the service concept down pat. Went to this shop for a couple of repairs. There was a further repair needed which the owner said he would get back to me with a quote, but I never heard back from him. One minor repair came up in the meantime where I needed a power steering belt repair. the Owner would not come to the phone, and had his assistant, who was very rude (there was no reason for this it was a routine repair request and I was polite), tell me he refused to work on the car because it was an "older vehicle". This is not a business you should trust, as he will drop customers and by suddenly dropping your business, he will not honor his agreements. read more
