I spent A LOT of time on Yelp looking through Auto Repair Shops. I read A LOT of reviews and their star rating compared to the amount of reviews that were posted and I came up with, what I felt was the BEST option, Kaufman's Auto Repair. I have so far brought 2 of my 3 autos in for repair and have to say that I was VERY pleased with the work they do. They were VERY GOOD at communication during and after the repairs and having a very good understanding of the auto repair business, feel I got a very good value for the money I spent. Everyone, from my initial phone call to make my appointment. took ALL the notes and comments I gave them-WORD FOR WORD and added them to my repair order. They provided explicit repair estimates for both what my concern was in initially bringing my vehicle in for service but also on other items they came across that I should consider to repair. They DID NOT do it in a manner of trying to "UPSELL" me to spend more money but what they deem as the current condition of their suggestions and what my expectations should be for repairing now or later. They were ALL VERY professional, the ENTIRE office and shop were VERY clean and overall confirmed my decision to use them for my repairs. This shop is great. I've had work done to my girlfriend's car here a couple times now. She has a 2016 Subaru forester, and it needed a lot of suspension repairs, belts and tensioners replaced, and a wheel bearing replaced. They were able to get all the parts and resolve the problems in less than 24 hours. Very competitive quotes too. We were so pleased with how the car ran, we took it in just recently again for an oil change and a general tune up. The car seems like it's ran better than it ever has. I've used Kaufman's for the past several years on my last 3-4 cars. I've always been very pleased with their work. My recent visit was for an oil & filter change, and tire rotation. I also asked for a safety inspection since I was planning upcoming trips, and planning on selling my 2013 Chrysler 200 Convertible soon. As it turned out, I only needed rear brake pads and rotors. which will give me a sense of security traveling in the NC mountains. It's always pleasant dealing with Roger and his team of mechanics, and Sabrina at the front desk. They provide quality service and are very competitively priced. If you're not happy with your dealership's service department, or your current garage, you owe it to yourself to have Kaufman's take care of your car(s). read more

I am not the sort to leave a bad review, but I must in this case. Kaufman's was suggested by my fiancee as she says "they used to be great." I took my car in for a check engine light coming on intermittently with temp gauge going up past center along with it, as well as a full synthetic oil change. I had to schedule 2+ weeks out as they were very busy. They charged me $200 for a diagnostic test, which is incredibly high. It turned out the water pump and thermostat assembly needed replacing, and they wanted $2,028 to remove and replace it. That seemed quite high, but I reluctantly agreed as I didn't want to take more time and multi-day planning to shop around. I didn't realize until I saw the bill that they had charged me $180 per hour for labor. That's more than a dealership charges, and almost twice what most independent shops charge!! I commented to the lady at the desk that I must be in the wrong business, and she responded with "well we have a lot of overhead! We've expanded to 3 bays!" .. as if that's a justifiable reason to stick it to customers. She then refused to let me use an extra $25 off card that I had (from my father in law) because she'd already applied the $25 "new customer" discount. So $2,340.46 was the total for approved work. Before I picked my car up, they also sent me a new text link to a second estimate of work as part of their "courtesy inspection" that comes with an oil change. That estimate was designed to heavily encourage me to replace my brake pads AND rotors (which are fine), buy all new tires (which are okay for a while), have wheels aligned, replace the cabin air filter and replace the weak front left washer nozzle, all to the tune of another $2700. I called and inquired, and I got a nice man who explained that I could decline the work, but that I really needed to have some of that done soon. Okay cool. I asked why the rotors needed to be replaced if they hadn't been worn through with the brake pads (that still had some width to them) and he said that "sometimes the rotors can warp." Right. Must be a rough terrain for braking here in flat FL. So I got my car back home, and after the next startup, the check engine light came back on. I wait a couple of days to see if it would go off and when it didn't, I went and got a FREE diagnostic from Autozone just in case. The code came up as intake manifold and i.m. gasket as faulty. Since that didn't show up on the initial (very expensive) diagnostic at Kaufman, I searched on the internet to find that it's typical to remove the intake manifold when replacing the water pump. Seemed pretty conclusive that their work on the water pump had somehow made this new issue come up, so I called them and nicely explained the situation to the owner, who had actually worked on my car to begin with. He mispronounced my name 4 times (after polite corrections), and then told me he had not removed the intake manifold to do the work - that you can do it that way, but you don't have to. He says he's pretty sure he forgot to reattach a vacuum hose and he's sorry about that, but that may be what's causing the new intake manifold code to come up. Okay so I agree to bring it back in for them to take a look at with no charge for their diagnostic this time. Dropped it off after-hours and (for the second time) heard my electronic key fob smack the concrete hard and bounce because they don't seem to have anything to catch them when you drop them in the key slot. WTF? Got a call from the owner later the next day. He says he took a look and everything is now connected properly, and the intake manifold code is still causing the CEL to come on. For $1020, he will replace those parts and fix the problem. I inquired about what would have caused that to randomly show up now, since it wasn't on their initial diagnostic scan, and he says "I can't answer that.. these things just go bad sometimes. Some models like yours and a few others have issues with the intake manifold." Unbelievable. For the amount they charged me, I would think they could at least try and clean and reseat the manifold and gasket free of charge because they clearly somehow caused it to be an issue. In fact, when I watched a video of replacing the water pump and removing the manifold (which is apparently the easiest way to do it) the two parts sit really close together and are both part of the pressurized system, which makes it seem even more likely that their work caused the problem. Ugh. Save yourself some trouble and LOTS of money. My father-in-law, my fiancee (both previous customers of Kaufman's for years) and I will no longer be going with Kaufman's for Auto Repairs. Deeply disappointing. read more

Next they follow up with a communication txt about the items that are or may be causing your issue. Then they offer recommended other services having to do with the vehicle recommendation service schedule. I have a 2009 Smart Fortwo Passion which had A/C problems. I was in need of service since Mercedes of Sarasota ceased provided service to Smart Cars. I was very impressed with the whole process from checking in and providing not only the A/C issue but other issues which I thought I might have to live with due to its age.
