It was a non dispute-able fact that the job of replacing rear brake pads and rear brake rotors on my vehicle took less than one hour to complete, and for that, I was charged $360. I was told that the reason for the charge was that two people worked on my car and that they each earned (?) $180 for that ! The lady I spoke with at European Auto was adamant about the charge being justifiable, but from my perspective, $360 per hour for labor cost is obvious price gouging. Furthermore, it is shown on my invoice that it took 2 hours to do the job, but again, it absolutely took less than one hour to do. It shouldn't matter how many people worked on the car. I mean, if a third person worked on the car, would there be yet another $180 charge? The only thing that should matter is how long it takes to get the job done. read more

I took my Range Rover in for service, oil change top off. Etc. They told me that I needed new brake pads and rotors. I asked how much, "close to $3000." I told them to go ahead and do the brake pads and rotors. (All 4) 2 years later my brake service light comes on and I took it back to him. Only 10,000 miles later. He told me that sometimes that happens on Range Rover, but good news, they are under warranty. I took it back and they only replaced the rear brake pads. Nothing about the rotors or the front pads and rotors. They took the money, but didn't do the work. All I can say is be careful. What is sad is that I had been going to them for several years and recommended them. read more

I'm happy to have found this shop to service my 2019 Range Rover. I was feeling taken advantage of at the dealer and by another shop, so I asked around for recommendations and was told to try European Auto Services. I couldn't be happier with that decision. Both Jay and Paul are stand-up guys who took the time to hear my goals for the car and Jay gave me maintenance intervals that match what I need for this particular vehicle as its primary function is doing long drives for ski trips. They taught me a few things about my vehicle, (and even about my previous vehicle), that I did not know. Once you spend 5 minutes chatting with them you realize these cars are their passion not just their job. They are like an encyclopedia if you mention a year and model of any luxury European car. The best part was they saved me $1300 by letting me know I didn't actually need the repair that the other shop told me I desperately needed--and tried to charge $500 more than if I had done it with European Auto. read more

I meant to write this review over a month ago. I brought my car into their shop because I thought I needed new brakes on my 550 SL Mercedes in addition the low tire pressure light would not turn off. They took a look at my car, fixed the low air pressure light and advised that the problem with my brakes was bad sensor that Mercedes has extended the warranty indefinitely on and that I should take it to Mercedes, which I did and they fixed. However, thy charged me NOTHING for looking at my auto and fixing the one problem. I could not believe it. When my car does need service I will definitely bring it to them, very honest and service oriented shop such a rarity. read more

Worst shop I have ever seen. Need new water pump for my Audi. Called on a Friday, lady said sorry no appointments til the following Tuesday. Tried calling Monday, all morning. No answer. This is a business right? Then Tuesday tried calling multiple times....no answer. I made appointment at Audi dealership, on way stopped at this joke of a business to see if the estimate would be lower. Walk In and ask, lady says sorry need VIn to see cost, I get it in car, literally two minutes time elapses. I bring it in and she says sorry the system is down I'll get back to you on phone "sometime" ...so if the system is down why did you tell me to go get the VIn??? I said I need to know price, she said no. I left. Huge waste of effort. I think they just don't like doing jobs that they can't screw people on. the guys behind her seemed to have told her not to deal with me. Water pump not a huge moneymaker for them. lady was obnoxious and the place is a miserable failure, obviously these good reviews are all paid for. Note to business: Don't bother responding, I don't care and nobody else cares about your canned response deflecting fault. See yah! read more

These guys really are the BEST in the Coachella Valley, if you own a German car. Lilly is sometimes hard to get ahold of, but she is very knowledgable and helpful. They stay busy, so plan ahead for annual service appointments, etc. They have been servicing both our vehicles since we moved to the desert in 2016. Always quality work. Not the cheapest, but you do get what you pay for. I had an issue with a front brake job they did awhile back (defective part) and they were very quick to make it right. European Auto Service was recommended to me by Mike at Mike's Smog Check #2. I was told they were super busy and that I probably needed to make an appointment months in advance. I stopped by and Lilly was super nice. She got Paul, one of the owners, who stopped what he was doing and came out and adjusted my air/fuel mixture in seconds. They were super professional and answered all our questions. Paul got my old Mercedes to pass its smog test which I greatly appreciate. My Volkswagen GTI had an issue with the key getting stuck in the ignition. I spoke to multiple shops on how to repair as there seems to be multiple approaches. The other shops had a more labor intensive and costly process Even though I live in OC I felt it was worth the drive to get this repair done because I felt more comfortable with what EAS told me about how they fix this problem. It seemed the most logical to me of all the solutions - even though I'm hardly a car repair expert - but they were very confident the solution would work as it has worked on other cars they'd repaired with the same issue. I'm so happy I went with them and am thankful to Yelp and the reviews for leading me to them. They've been super helpful and easy to work with as well and are of course very knowledgeable about VW's. Truly disappointed! I've been a customer since purchasing my car in 2015. Yesterday I smelled gasoline every time I stopped and shut off the car. I called European but was quickly advised that they were booked until 7/12. No question whether I wanted to make an appointment or any suggestion as to what the problem may be. Great service. I was told by the dealership that it was time to do my brakes and that it would be $1400. I decided to wait. After paying $400 for an oil change at the Porsche dealer, I was done giving them any more money. Next oil change I brought to this place and they were great. I asked them about the brakes and they said that I should just wait until the light came on. $250 cheaper on the oil change and some honesty with the brakes. Loved it. They will see me again for as long as I own this vehicle. read more

I can't imagine why anyone would go to this place. I called over 7 times in the last week and left two messages. Never got a response. Finally went to the place and Lilly, front desk was totally rude and could care less about potential new clients. She lied and said I never left a message. I asked about new clients and she just kind of shrugged and said they were 3-4 weeks out. If this is how you are treated trying to make an appointment I can only imagine what their service must be like. You would be way better off just going to a dealer. At least they take care of you, are courteous and are fair and do what they are supposed to. You would be absolutely nuts to go to European Auto Service. read more

Spending more time in Palm Springs so I needed to find a new BMW mechanic. I tried a two others who had good reviews, one only once. Both failed to use a smoke test, which would have been the place to start, based on my car's readings and performance. I decided to have the work done out of town. After A coastal road trip, I needed an oil change and decided to take my chances with European Auto Services. Lilly was great in fitting me in. As I waited, the mechanics I saw working were professional, the garage was well run, and the business itself looked good. They provided a courtesy checklist of some minor repairs I should consider, like my front seat bushings and failed trunk struts/shocks. Lilly followed up with estimates. It feels so so good to have found a local independent BMW service that I can trust. read more

A few times we left the car there first thing in the morning and picked it up late afternoon, another time we had an appointment at 2:30 and were called to pick up the car at 3:30. They're honest, reliable, and work as quickly as possible. Sometimes I have to wait to get my car in, but that's only a reflection of their popularity and appreciation by the community. One thing, I particularly enjoy is that they only work on the items that are necessary to bring the car up to performance and safety standards, without doing any nonessential work for the purposes of just billing. I'm sorry I can't give it less than 1 star. I've used this facility numerous times. Usually the service was satisfactory. However my last visit resulted in service that was life threatening; upon pointing the error out to the owner my concerns were dismissed as inconseqeuntial and incorrect. Below is my email to the company, and their response. Let me preface this with the fact that I am a commercial pilot, educated on altitude and temperature effects on air pressure. To European Motors: "I had my BMW in on Friday for a 10,000 mile one year service. We had not used the car in months and were leaving Saturday for a 3000 mile trip. When I got the car back I specifically looked at the invoice to make sure the tire pressures were checked, especially after the vehicle had been sitting for 3 months unused. The invoice said "tires checked". I therefore reset the TPM knowing that the tire pressures were now adjusted to recommend. I drove the car to Mammoth Lakes the next day (7500 ft). At 7500 ft., tire pressures increase by 3-4 lbs. The following morning when I got in the car, I had a notice "Left Front Tire Pressure Low". I drove to a service station, checked the pressure and rather than the 32 lbs + 3 lbs for altitude or 35lbs, what would have been expected, the pressure was 20lbs. I filled the tire, looked for damage, nails, screws, etc. and seeing none decided to just monitor the tire. Later that day, I got back in the vehicle, and had a warning, "Right Front Tire Pressure Low". I went back to the service station, the right front tire was at 22lbs. I filled the tire and decided I'd better check the rears. The rears, instead of measuring 39+ 3 for altitude or 42lbs, measured 30lbs each. I relied on your service and the items you claimed to have checked. Our equipment and lives were put at risk because your mechanic did not do what was claimed to have been done. I am livid! This is unconscionable. Whoever did this work should be terminated. If this happened to us, how many others has this happened to? This needs a resolution or I'll be more than happy to share this experience with others so it doesn't happen to them. This is not a trivial matter, you have people's lives in your hands, people depend on your professionalism." This was their response: "Mr. Jones, I am sorry to hear you are disappointed. The change in temperature effects the pressures in the tires. During our routine oil services, we do check all fluids and tire pressures. I will speak to my technicians and make sure we are all performing to our standards. For future references, The main reason for this is the dropping temperatures, which cause the air to become denser and consequently lower the tire pressure. Of course, tires naturally lose pressure over time, and there can be a puncture. ... Colder temperatures will cause tire pressure to drop about 1 psi for every 10°F drop in air temperature." To which I replied: "Being a pilot I am very aware of the effect of temperature and altitude, in this case, they cancelled each other out. Those tires were all under inflated by 8-12 lbs each. They were never checked." The response I received - none. This is not a trivial issue to be dismissed like this. NHTSB reports hundreds of deaths and over 75000 injuries per year in the U.S. from tire blowouts, many resulting from improper tire pressure. read more

We arrived in La Quinta, in March 2020 just before all the COVID shutdowns to purchase a second home. COVID hit and now in late October we are back and the 2005 Lexus SUV we are leaving here had several warning lights on the dash. A neighbor recommended European Auto Service because they took great care of his Jaguar. We arrived a European Auto Service without an appointment and were immediately greeted. Twenty minutes later a technician said our problem was a gasket leak at the gas cap. The technician adjusted the gasket and sent us on our way. Blown away with the professionalism of the team.
