Five Stars - Honest, Skilled, and Worth the Wait My 15-year-old Range Rover died on the side of the freeway near Desert Hot Springs, and I was convinced it was toast. I had it towed to the dealership in Rancho Mirage, where it took nearly two weeks just to diagnose the problem--followed by a jaw-dropping estimate of over $10,000 in repairs. Enter Desert Car Medics. That night, my Uber driver heading home recommended them--specifically Frank--as his personal mechanic for his Mini Cooper. After I got the dealer estimate I called and spoke with Frank, who immediately agreed to give me a second opinion. Within about a week, Frank had diagnosed the same issues it took the dealership two weeks to identify (I had only given him the dealer's computer diagnostic assessment). He was upfront and honest, explaining that there were a few variables that couldn't be confirmed until he got deeper into the work. His estimate? Around $4,100. Still not cheap, but dramatically better than the dealer. Now, full transparency: Desert Car Medics is a two-person shop, so there is a wait. It took another weeks before my car came up in the queue. Fortunately, with my son away at college back east, we had an extra car at home, so the timing worked out. Here's where the story takes a turn... After having lost the only set of keys I had for my 35,000 mile 1997 Mercedes SL500, I contacted Mercedes and every possible source I could find only to be told by all that there was no way to replace/ obtain keys for my car and that I might as well junk it or part it out. my car set in the garage for nearly a year until a friend of mine told me about Frank being able to do things that no one else could do. A lot of effort on Franks part and a couple of months later Frank had built a key and reprogrammed my car so that it could be started. Frank did what Mercedes and no one else could do. Desert Car Medics is an authorized installer of Unplugged Performance parts. I was referred by them. I scheduled an appointment and dropped off the vehicle as planned on a Tuesday. Got a phone call late Tuesday stating that rather than being done w/ the project, they had received a defective part. The supplier didn't get part shipped as early as promised, so this dragged on until following Monday. This caused the mechanic extra work, in order to free up the car rack my vehicle occupied. I picked up my Tesla Model Y the following Tuesday after part was received and installed plus getting a wheel alignment since work was replacing the suspension system. I was kept informed through out the process. I am confident the mechanics were knowledgeable and thorough. Despite the extra time and effort to get the project done, I was billed for the amount of the original estimate. They also mentioned experience with BMW and Mercedes. I'm appreciative of their work and will keep them in mind for any new car repairs. read more

So recently I personally replaced my radiator fan in my Mercedes Benz during the installation I had to disconnect the radiator hoses, when I re inserted them for some reason I was getting coolant movement , after eliminating what I thought the issues may be I figured it was a air bubble in the system some where. I took it to my friends at desert car medics. This being my 3rd visit with two front shocks and an alternator replacement I new I was in good hands. The issue ended up being a defective coolant reservoir cap. This is why I can not stress enough IF YOU GOING ANY WHERE BUT DESERT CAR MEDICS, your paying way to much. First off your treated like a person spending hard earned money, not a customer that is in desperate need and willing to spend anything. They listen to what you have to say and don't act like they know so much more than you and 6ou should just say silent and pay the outrageous bill. Very impressive people to deal with. Swing by and talk to Perfecto (office manager) or Frank (owner). This I assure you will set your mind at ease and you'll know both you and your car are in good hands.
