We had a serious Coolant Leak on our 2007 Mini Cooper S Turbo R56. Carlos and Team took the car in without an appointment (which is highly recommended. It's a Busy Shop). They were able to pinpoint the issue and gave us a reasonable Bid. Went to pick the Mini up and the Actual cost was $75 lower than the bid ! Even with the Full Synthetic Oil Change added. Shop is Clean, Organized and the staff is Awesome. The communication was great as well. They text you pictures, Bids and keep you updated on what's going on through out the repair process. Got home soaked and started to call around with no luck. Land Rover dealership informed me that they don't work on Land Rovers older than 2008. Ford F-250 Heavy Duty Diesel fixed ASAP! I was climbing the Santa Rosa Mountains for a camping trip when during a climb, my transmission fluid just started dumping on the road. My party and I attempted to inspect the transmission and it appeared that a seal had likely broke, but there was no transmission damage. I looked this shop up with my one bar of service on the mountain. I asked Carlos if he was able to help me out on my truck, he said he could and he would get it back to me ASAP. I get my truck towed off the mountain and to his shop. After an evening, we talked in the morning and he said that it appears my transmission fluid got too hot and started boiling in the lines, and my truck and a blow off valve for such a case. He told me how it works, where it is, and how to help the issue in the future. He only charged me for the new 6qts of transmission fluid. I couldn't be happier with this team! Honest, quick and extremely nice. If you're in the area, or a broke-down traveler, I would recommend anyone to try and get their car into this team. read more

On a recent Sunday night after 5:00PM the water pump on my 2008 Lexus quit while we were on Hwy 10, and the engine overheated and was ruined. We are from Northern CA and were on a 1-week vacation in Indio, with our timeshare reservation ending on the Friday. We found Palm Desert Automotive using Yelp, and had the AAA truck transport my dead car to the street outside their building (which was closed and fenced). First thing Monday morning I called them to see if they would repair a Lexus, and spoke with Carlos. He said yes. Carlos said that they were completely booked up with appointments that day, but they'd tow my car in and check it out as soon as they could. I mentioned that I hoped they could finish in time for us to drive home on Friday. Later on Monday Carlos called to inform me that the water pump had failed, the coolant had all leaked out, and my engine was finished. Carlos gave me an estimate of "Under $4500" to replace the engine. I gave him the go-ahead to order a replacement engine (and he didn't even ask for my credit card info!). They pulled out the failed engine on Tuesday, received the used replacement engine on Wednesday, and at 9:00 Thursday morning Carlos called to say that they had finished replacing the engine and done a 20-mile test drive! We couldn't have been more pleased. The total cost came in at about $200 over the estimate because the test drive determined that the oxygen sensor needed replacing, and this cost $200. We drove the 480 miles home on the Friday, and because the replacement engine had 68K miles on it and was broken in, Carlos said that we could drive at normal speeds. (My car had 63K miles on it, so the replacement engine was a close match). We did so, and the engine has performed perfectly ever since. My wife and I can't say enough good things about Palm Desert Automotive and the service that we received from Carlos and the team. I stopped here early yesterday with no appointment, and just barged into the garage (even though it said "employees only"). A nice man came over and asked how he could help, and I told him one of my tires had a nail in it, and I really needed help ASAP before I embarked on my drive back home to LA. He inspected the tire, confirmed there was a nail, and told me they would fix it while I waited inside. The waiting area was clean, had a TV, coffee, water, etc. They were very efficient and polite, and took care of my tire in about 30 minutes while I ate my breakfast and checked work emails. Driving down from Seattle engine warning light goes on at Death Valley and I loose cruise control. Yelp points me to PDA here in PD and Carlos gets me in right away. Stop paying ridiculous diagnostic and regular scheduled service costs! Owner Carlos had the absolute best oil change price, for my 2005 Porsche Cayenne S. He charged me the unheard-of price, of only $145.70. The Porsche dealer wants $350+ and the closest European independent competitor is still asking $196. If I were to buy the oil and filter and do it myself - I'm still looking at a $120 materials cost...not including all the labor and Haz-mat disposal, etc. Furthermore, Carlos reset the oil service warning for FREE.
