By "European" they mean East European, as in Polish breads and patisserie, and a small deli with kielbasas, ham and bacon for slicing. But, the highlight goes to their amazing rye bread loaves. I picked up a seeded rye today. It was thin sliced and very fresh. As soon as I got home I lightly toasted two and spread sweet butter over them. With hot coffee washdown, they were delicious; slightly sour, and crispy to the last bite. Reminded of childhood when my grandmother and I would walk up to Broadway and 173 St. in Manhattan for a shopping excursion and always visit the local bakery for supplies. There was always a slice of bread for me handed over by the baker/owner who took pity on my slight frame. I also picked up several kielbasa sticks and a few noshes (pazciks, apple and strawberry cheese danish) to see how good they were. Yup. They were uber sweet, but damn good - but kind of messy to handle. The smoked sausage were all tasty and "snapped" on biting. The Trenton neighborhood on upper Brunswick Avenue has a wealth of ethnic delights, and is well worth exploring when in the mood for something unique and delectable. read more

European Bakery is a Polish/Eastern European market and a bakery in the heart of Polish Trenton. The bread loaves and rolls are very well made, especially in the morning when they are nice and fresh. The front of the store also has a display case with pastries and cakes for sale. There are also a few aisles in the back of the shop that are well-stocked with imported European products, like egg noodles, spices, chocolates (including Kinder), and snacks. The minimum for card purchases is high at $25, so bringing cash is a must. read more

Just went on fat Thursday 2021 to get pancki / donuts and they have traditional polish doughy goodness. My favorites are the plumb ones but they were out and making more. So I tried the jelly ones, very good though the one I got were the rose hip jelly, traditional also on fat Thursday but not my favorite. Lots of others breads and bakery items to try next time. Big thumbs up, for a European treat without needing an airline ticket to get to a great bakery. read more

This place is between Rt1 and 206, and since we live in the Philly area and go to various places in central NJ...same old story passed by for years, now we give it a shot. I went in looking for a great European rye bread, and it's not evident, but yeah, they got that, and it was one of the best I have ever had - lovely seeds in the crust and a kind of soft whitish inside rather then the harder texture and the brownish insides I am used to - different and with a very flavorful crust it is wonderful. European does not have loads of lovely pastry - but they do have some along with deli meats, and a good sized selection of Polish products. I stopped in and felt completely not welcome. The young girl did speak English and did answer my questions. There was a customer at the tiny counter, it wasn't her turn, and she stood there without a mask as I attempted to get my items and my credit card around her. The young girl handed me the bag and my meat fell on the floor. The patrons laughed. That previous reviewer was correct about treating patrons badly. And I spent $40.00 so it's not like I wasn't spending money. I'll be curious to see if it was worth the trip 30 miles away when I try these products. read more

I can' t remember the last time I had a chocolate eclair. But I assure you, had it been from this Polish bakery I would have. I had heard from an elderly Belgian friend of mine that this place is legit( ok, that was not his term) and several months later I made it here. I think this was the best eclair that I've ever had. It was drenched in good chocolate, and filled to utter capacity with a perfect custard. The pastry was light and crisp and held everything together(but just barely) I regret not buying one of the incredible looking and huge loaves of rye bread. I vow to return to do just that, and will post a photo of same. There are many imported shelf stable items here, and only a few desserts. After today's visit I can see that breads are the star attraction. A small lot next to the business makes it convenient to run in and out. If I keep thing about that pastry, I will be doing that very soon. 4 Yelps for now until I experience the rye. read more

Stopped in here tonight after dinner with a friend, intrigued on our drive over. We were a bit out of our comfort zone since everyone here spoke Polish. We picked out a nice looking pastry to share for dessert after looking around. Some other clients cut us, whereas when we made our purchase at the counter, the woman helping us was not very friendly. I gave her a bill, and she not-so-politely asked for four cents to save her the trouble of making change. Usually I can tolerate poor service. However, the pastry itself was expensive and was not impressive. In fact, it was bland and not fresh. My friend and I picked it apart, ate the custard, and left the cake. Seemed to have a very wide selection of Polish products and delicacies, but good luck if you don't speak Polish. Stay especially far from the Napoleon-like pastries. read more

This is a very Polish deli and bakery with a small grocery carrying lots of canned items, candy, and some refrigerated items. The deli had a constant line of 3-4 people this Saturday morning. The two pastries I picked up were excellent--definitely comparable to things I've eaten in France. The pastry selection seemed pretty small for a place selling itself as a bakery, so don't go here expecting a wall of choices. read more

First time I came in the store, the store workers seemed very impolite, their attitude seemed as if they wondered why I was in there to begin with, at least that's kind of the feeling I got as I was looking through the store, I'm not Polish, I'm African American, I don't know if that had anything to do with that experience but I didn't get anything that time because they said they didn't take cards just cash at least that's what I think I remember but it could have been the fact their card limit is a 25 dollar minimum. Which I found out today when I went back my second time, this time they were more polite(the first time was not during Covid 19). This time my experience was better but I think they overcharged me because I came up 21 dollars from that 25 dollars card limit for a slice of cheesecake that was 8 dollars and change, tea that was $ 2.29 , and one pack of perroegies that was the remainder. The real area of focus was the cheesecake, it was ok, I've had better but for 8 dollars and some change it should have tasted better than those other places because those other places did not charge me that much. read more
