I got my eyebrows done there, and the waxer was really rude to me. She was late for my appointment, then had to rush me because she had another client come in last minute. Then, she proceeded to tell me I came way too much (often) to get my brows done, which she could've said in a nice way. Anita was my waxer and she was AMAZING. The absolute most thorough but painless wax I've ever had. She made sure to get literally every hair (no exaggeration) with many strips but also tweezed. I've had good experiences here of varying degree. Once you find a good waxer, stick with them-- they don't grow on trees. I like a waxer to make conversation -- otherwise it's just awkward and painful (in multiple ways). They sell helpful products like the serum and the pads-- wait for a sale though as they're not cheap. The front desk staff is okay-- they're not super friendly as I want staff to be at a place like this, but they're not usually rude. I just had someone call me because I missed an appointment, for which I apologized but she was still rude-- next time I just won't answer the phone. The two things I don't like about EWC is that they give you a reminder call the day before at 9AM. If your appointment is on a Monday, you get the call on the weekend, and I'm 100% not awake then-- or rather, I am after the obnoxious robocall. The second and the more important is that there's no way to cancel your appointment on the app or reschedule for a different location-- you have to call for that, leading me to miss appointments because I'm not able to or forget to call. read more

I called because I was running late and the women who answered the phone was understanding because finding parking is a no no around there. They just moved my appointment for me without hesitation. When they explain how you save with packages it makes sense and not just a sales pitch. So I got one on my second visit. Checking out was fast and kind of made me feel like VIP. My waxer was great, quick and told me what would be best to fit my needs. I wax often and the wax is warm and doesn't feel harsh on my skin. Came in for a first time wax (they have an awesome promotion for first time clients so ask in advance!). Mira was fantastic! Friendly, gentle, and professional. She talked me through all the steps and included details about all the products she was using. I felt very comfortable the entire time and she did her best to make it as painless as possible. The EWC chain is all about waxing so they're really efficient - they have a lot of appointments each day so you don't get the same kind of 'spa' like treatment or quality that you might get at a day spa that has waxing services. That being said, their pricing is pretty fair for quality wax, I would definitely come back again. So I was really happy that I finally found a cheap place to get my first brazilian but I expected it to be high quality since it seems to be such a professional place. The girl at the front was great. I had booked an 8:15 appt but she was able to squeeze me into a 7:00 slot. When I got in the back there was no explanation of what I was supposed to do. The waxing was relatively okay it wasn't painful but it did seem rushed. She kept waxing the same spots. When she was done I could feel wax all over me. She put some type of cream on me but not entirely. When I got home I noticed that not only did she miss patches of hair but she left clumps of wax on me. It's unfortunate that the administration of this place has overshadowed my experience with the technician. I came here for the first time in February with a gift card my sister gave me. When I went to pay , they said there was no funds on the card. Thankfully my sister was there and was able to note that those funds were withdrawn right before Christmas. I ended paying for my service and let her figure out the admin and funds. She has called this location a number of times with the promise that the district manager will return her call. She's sent two emails to corporate to see if they can resolve, they push her back to the location noting they all run independently. Truly unacceptable for a loyal customer who continues to buy their packages. Her experiences have been fine and whether she continues to go after her package is done, is up to her. For me, I will not recommend getting gift cards from there if you continue to go, nor would I recommend this place knowing they don't follow up properly. They can't even give her feedback of when the funds were used "if" it had been used. No follow up, administration is poor at the local and top level. I have felt very safe with EWC's covid policies. They ensure not too many people are waiting before you're let into the lobby. There is hand sanitizer everywhere, and they check your temperature as soon as you come in. My waxer, Courtney R., is absolutely fantastic even with her head to toe PPE. She's efficient, kind, and by far the best waxer I've had. I see her for a Brazilian, and started getting my eyebrows done recently. She checks throughout the wax that you're doing okay (pain wise), and warns you before going to sensitive areas. Her positive mood and caring nature makes me excited that I'm going to get waxed - which is honestly still crazy to me. I highly suggest going to EWC during covid. read more

This is my third visit to European wax center, and I'm not going back. The waxer put wax on me that was ENTIRELY too hot (I am a licensed cosmetologist- it is VERY OBVIOUS when wax is too hot, because it becomes extremely thin when you pick it up on the stick, there's no way she doesn't know that doing this for a living), and when I got home, I was covered in wax, and had to shave over about five different areas, including two extremely conspicuous patches on the Brazilian area, and it has always baffled me that there is no aftercare offered at European Wax Center. If you go to smaller salons, they put oils all over you, and lotions to calm the skin. Here, they pull the last strip off and send you on your way. Overall, this place is disgustingly overpriced and not worth it. Waxing isn't worth it. I will be investigating laser removal. Because this is insane. Over $200 for waxing and I have to go home and shave? Unacceptable. No thanks. If you're REALLY in need of a wax, try Boston nails and spa, or Treasured hands. Cheaper, and better. read more

I have been an EWC customer for 8 years and this is such a good wax center - the front desk staff is always friendly and accommodating. The 5 stars is for Blanca!! She is literally the best Brazilian wax technician I have ever had - and I have probably seen around 10 or so. She does a thorough job and does it quickly and as pain-free as possible. She also doesn't try to push products on you like I feel like some other technicians do. Lynn is also a good waxer here but a bit more rushed. The entire studio is spotless and well maintained. I feel like i am now a pro at getting hair ripped out of every part of my body and while i love the hard wax that EWC uses i don't love how many waxings i've had to go to get fixed because they've been totally half completed. they're definitely cheaper than a lot of other options out there but i have almost always had to go and get something fixed or hair has broken which has resulted in like, 4 different growth cycles at once. it also sucks that staff turnover is so high. i don't think i've been able to see the same person more than 3 months in a row before they leave. plus parking in a bitch read more

Yikes, that was possibly the worst Brazilian wax experience I have ever had in my life! I absolutely dread getting this done. But to make matters worse, I was severely concerned and stressed the entire time. I believe a woman by the name of Taylor served me today. She applied wax to very, very large areas at a time, and then struggled to yank it off. I mean STRUGGLED. It was so slow, messy and extremely painful! I was bracing myself the entire time. I actually feared that she would mess things up permanently down there. Not OK. At one point, she asked me the best way for her to do it? And I thought she was supposed to be the professional! Im being generous just for the location and some amazing waxes I had in the past. I went in there tonight. My bad I was 5 minutes late and used the restroom there this so called professional waxer was extremely rushed and rough. UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR Girl! You need to be gentle with your customers. She was so rough that the applicator kept breaking while she was applying the wax, she dint ask if temperature was okay, sometimes it was really being forcefully pulled and not a single time she was sorry. And i made a mistake of asking her for another service which I did not originally add to my booking and she said she doesnt have time for it. I understand and dont blame her for this. First of all i thought the time limit restriction is bit too strict and limits their abilities but then I got to know she did not have any appointments after. She kept rushing with everything and she finished 5 minutes ahead of time ( 5 minutes were left after me getting dressed with all my winter gear again). And she blamed me for coming in late and told me how I should consider coming on time and time spent in the restroom before they begin waxing which is absolutely bizarre! I still dont want to name her here and be mean but im writing this so that she learns from this experience!!!! No hard feelings against her or EWC! Also, im not just upset with the behavior but the service too. Waxing was not up to the mark and no time was spent on double checking if i was fine with it. I wouldn't actually know how the waxers were because it was so hard to locate. I typically go to the Newbury Street or Coolidge Corner locations but because I switched jobs and moved I thought I'd try this out. I arrived to MGH, where Google Maps put the location, about 10 minutes before my appointment time. I couldn't find it and walked all through the MGH buildings and surrounding blocks, so I looked around for building numbers (which there weren't many of) until I finally just called. It was 5 minutes after my appointment slot. I told the receptionist I had an appointment and that I was standing at the corner where the address should be, and asked if she could tell me where exactly they were. She just said they wouldn't be able to accommodate me because of their 9 minute late policy. I said I wasn't 9 minutes late and she said something like yes but by the time you get here or something. I was also booked for eyebrow, lip, and nose and could've easily just done eyebrows or something. I'm assuming they just filled my spot. I'm super unimpressed with this location and will not be coming back - which sucks because it looks like the waxers here are great. read more
