I was excited to get my brows done because the manager from this location reached out to me for a birthday brow wax. I haven't had my brows done in a long time, so I was excited. I booked with Destiny and had a pre-consultation. I told Destiny several times that I did not want thin brows. Before we started, I even offered to show her a picture, but she said she understood. Unfortunately, my brows were extremely thin when we finished. I had a lot of hair to work with since I hadn't had them done in a while, so I was surprised by how much was removed. The shape was also much thinner and more uniform than I wanted. Now I have to wait for them to grow back. I understand there can be a disconnect with brow shaping, but I feel like I was very clear with Destiny about what I wanted. Now I have to wait for them to grow back. Been coming here for a while now, probably a few years and haven't had any problem with any staff until this time this last service really disappointed me and made me feel very uncomfortable. The girl who was supposed to do my waxing was already in a rush, rushing me when I got in there and was presenting with attitude. She had a bracelet on that kept rubbing my eyelid when she was working on my eyebrows, and I had verbalized to her in a nice manner originally, but she was having attitude already at me and basically being pretty rough when it comes to removing the wax. And then she missed a few spot and when I pointed out that she missed a spot, she was giving me attitude while telling me to lie down and then when I got back up after she was done and told me that she was done, she looked at me and was like what are you doing? I still need to put cream on you. And suddenly I feel gaslit because she was the one who told me to get up and then she followed that by asking if we have any problems because I am making her feel very uncomfortable here while giving me attitude. When really I haven't really verbalized anything and I have barely verbalized my concern about the eyelid and that's basically because her bracelet keeps touching my eyelid because it dingles down. The front desk lady have said that she tends to have attitude for whoever is last on her list and I find a very unfair that they book her as my cosmetologist if they know that that's the issue. If they're going to hire employees are representing their company I sure hope that they evaluate their personality and their customer service aspect because that is the most important when it comes to these kind of role and if they're not happy and don't wanna work here, they really shouldn't take additional clients or they shouldn't have the job here. As someone who works in a place of customer service, I always make sure that I don't bring my personal opinions or emotions in. This whole experience made me feel kind of uncomfortable and also feeling like I don't really want to come back and make an appointment with that person ever again. By the end of the session after she gave me the mirror I told her she had missed a few spot. I mean, there were clearly hair in those area, and she clearly was very upset by me pointing at things that I'm just merely pointing out at as anyone would and she is just showing her bad mood and the environment that didn't need that. And after this time, she was done, she not only did not let me check in the mirror. She also told me that I am good to go. I am very uncomfortable I am very disappointed with my experience and I don't wish that on anyone. When I finally got to my car, I noticed not only a few spots but many spot that she missed and I can't really even walk in because I'm kind of scared and worried to really deal with her and I honestly don't want her to ever service me ever again . And I hope that nobody becomes her victim because that is just some rough waxing services watching someone having a resting bitch face and attitude the whole time when really I just want to come here to be vulnerable and did nothing wrong. read more

I went in today to get a Brazilian with Gabby and it was the best experience I had at EWC. It was my first time coming back for a Brazilian in a while, and I was scared for the pain but Gabby was so skilled in her method that it was nearly painless. She is also a wonderful conversationalist and made me feel so comfortable. I also appreciate the attention to detail in tweezing hairs that were missed, and how considerate she was in frequently checking in about the wax temperature. I didn't have a bad experience, just an okay one. I got a Brazilian wax and it went great, it was my first time. The vibe was a little awkward though, since my servicer didn't really talk to me, but that could also be personal preference. I like when conversation happens because it makes me less nervous and has me feel less awkward. I also didn't like how to only way to really book another session for "cheap" was by buying a package and the packages were pretty pricey. You also had to pay almost in full if not half the package price when checking out if you opted for it. I also felt a little pressured into buying stuff from their little shop since my waxer was watching me and explaining everything to me and I felt awkward saying no. Again, just a personal thing, I'm a little awkward when it comes to that lol. I went to this location to get my eyebrows and upper lip waxed about a week ago. When I was finished with my wax and further inspected my eyebrows and upper lip in natural lighting, I noticed an alarming about of hairs that were missed. Not only that, but my eyebrows were uneven. I called that same day and asked if I could speak to a manager. The receptionist told me it would be about 2-3 days before I would hear back and I haven't heard a thing. Came back again and my specialist Alexis did the job! If you can say someone has hands that were meant especially to treat her customers right, this is your girl. Every time I've been back to see her I am treated with top service. Gentle touch and suck kindness. She really knows how to take her time with her customers and get the job done right. I drove a good distance to get to her and let me tell you it's worth it!! Our lady parts are tender areas and I've been to other salons pre her and they were anything but gentle. I will not come back to this location. I have had services in Irvine and Tustin. Both were amazing. First parking is annoying at Pasadena, second the specialists are not professional. I have tried two waxing specialists at this location. Both seem to be new? Or the waxing beads at this location is of bad quality. Both times my hair was not removed properly. First time, the girl has to use tweezer multiple times. The second girl just keep waxing on me until wax got hot and my skin turned pink. And hair is still there. I can tell the wax is not of the right consistency. I don't feel I get the quality service as of other locations. Both times at Lake ave feel unprofessional. Update: I went home and felt a sting. Then I found out my skin was ripped during the extensive waxing. Totally not okay. Doesn't matter how friendly the specialists are. They don't know what they are doing. read more

Person who did my underarms made me bleed and gave me burns when the hair wouldn't come off. It seemed like she's never waxed underarms in her life. I insisted on the waxer telling me what the ingredients were before the treatment since I have sensitivities and she refused and said it was "secret"?? After several attempts and causing bleeding and burning I went to the front desk and told them what happened, to which they didn't seem to care at all and weren't shocked or displayed any concern. Since I was a 1st time customer, it was half off for my Brazilian, upper lip and underarms were free.. that was an unexpected surprise. Amoni was my wax technician, she was friendly funny thorough and wasted no time cleaning me up. I was in and out 30mins later.. Loved it!! Clean, very hygienic facility. I am sorry to say that I will never be back because Jackie and Monica are just the sweetest and best wax specialist, but I CANNOT stand the treatment of the front of office staff. They are so unbelievably pushy. Time after time, they push their packages and I am not interested. I understand it's more cost effective, but the reason I am more hesitant is because there was a wax specialist that left me with a painful experience and put me off from waxing for almost 6 months. That's the reason why I say no: because I never know if I'm going to come back. Why I have to give a reason is beyond me, but in this case my no is not a "not now," it's a never. It's not just that it's pushy; it's condescending. I work in sales and provide a "we're here if you change your mind" approach. Please don't tell me how many times I've been there to not have taken advantage of their "promotion." It's not a promotion, it's a discount package that you can get year round. I will never come back to this wax salon ever again. The front desk receptionist had a bad attitude, and acting as if its her salon. At 8 in the morning, your first client doesnt want to walk in and hear that youre mad I didnt answer your 7am phone call just to confirm the appointment. You guys couldnt call the night before?? Or afternoon before?? Moving onto the waxer. Im so incredibly shocked that this person is even allowed to wax people. Her name is Bre/Bri. Again, it was 8am, so i was the first client. She calls me in with the most cold, stand off tone. I get on the table basically naked because im getting a Brazilian and my armpits. She starts with my armpits and the wax is BOILING HOT. I tell her that its too hot and she then proceeds to wait like 10 seconds before putting on the wax. Even with that, it was still SUPER HOT. The entire experience was so uncomfortable, and its a vulnerable experience, i really wish i would have just gotten up and left. During the entire wax, this girl didnt say a word, not one friendly smile, or any sounds coming from her. Imagine just getting waxed in silence. I literally got BURNS on my underarm and on my vaginal area thanks to this careless woman and this horrible practice. I know it was only me, because as i stood in line to pay, Bre calls the next client with so much enthusiasm, and is so happy to see her and asks her how her morning is. There is more than one Brittany at the Pasadena location on Lake Ave. There is Brittany S. and Brittney H. I accidentally scheduled my appointment with the wrong Brittnay, and scheduled my appointment with Brittnay S. Her waxing method was not effective in pulling out hair based on the way it grows, and instead went over and over the same areas. Brittnay S. also told me "no" when I requested to be notified when she was going to pull on the wax( I.e. count to 3). Additionally, she would try to pull the wax too prematurely when it wasn't hard enough yet to pull. My waxing experience was unnecessarily uncomfortable. I hope additional training can be provided to staff so that everyone who visits this location can have a better experience, staff included. The front desk staff was also not very pleasant. I have, however, had a good waxing experience before with Brittney H. Overall, I am considering going to another location even though this is the closest one to my home. read more

Really bad customer service. Stay away from this location Been a loyal customer from 2014. Finally came back yesterday for a walk in to get both of my services done. The receptionist said I could only do one of my services so I decided to book an appointment the next day for two services. This part is important I came back the next day 10 minutes early and the receptionist told me I can only do one service again. It's either I wait for another hour or come back again tomorrow. When she told me this I was frustrated because I booked my appointment yesterday in person and should honor my appointment. I am a busy professional, and cannot wait around on their schedule. They ask me if I want to book tomorrow for an appointment and I didn't want to because it's already taken 2 days for me to come in and I didn't get anything done. 15 minutes later I got a no caller ID coming in. Since I was driving I couldn't answer because I was already frustrated and it happened to be European wax. I've been trying to call them 6 times and they didn't answer my phone call. Also before I left, I asked for the manager's number to make a complaint. They said they will email me a form. I still haven't received it. Now I'm thinking that I want my money back and go somewhere else. The "form" is a terrible way to get things resolved. Make it right, credit me a few waxes and I might consider remaining a customer. read more

I really like this place, but I unfortunately had a bad experience with Brittany today. It was my first time with her and she barely spoke to me, and made the experience painful and uncomfortable. The bikini wax strip placements she used covered much larger areas than any other technician I've seen (about 6 different waxers with EWC) making it significantly more painful, and did not wait enough time for them to cool before ripping them, leaving wax and hair behind in multiple areas. Additionally she gave no warning or indication she was pulling them. She seemed like she was just trying to get me in and out, and told me I was done in less five minutes when it usually takes 10. Overall I'm really not pleased with the rushed service and lack of communication/attention to detail. She might've been having an off day, but for how expensive it is to come in I would recommend going with another waxer. I've never had as disappointing of an experience here and will be avoiding her in the future. Edit: It's nice of the owner to respond, but I'm still covered in painful ingrown hairs from this experience. Seriously do not see this waxer!! read more

I hate leaving negative reviews, but I've been here a few times, usually when I need an appointment asap because they can always get me in same day. However, I won't be coming back. I don't know if it's their method or type of waxing, or if their waxers are made to get clients in and out as fast as possible, but each time I've come my waxes are just so sub par. Most of the hair is broken off at the surface and I'm left with a partial wax and prickly legs. I've been waxing my legs for well over a decade, and I just know they aren't thorough. I shouldn't have to shave within a few days of waxing, and this only happens when I come here.... Honestly, your better off going to an individual waxer (or a sugar wax) that can take their time rather than a chain who's business model is to get people in and out as quickly as possible. I'm leaving two stars because the staff is nice and my criticism isn't of the waxers themselves. read more

Was looking to get a full bikini wax and booked an appt with Jo after hearing great things about her on yelp. It was my first time ever and she patiently walked me through the whole thing. I'm not too talkative but Jo and I made good conversation, effectively distracting me from the whole ordeal. It definitely wasn't pain free and I literally asked her if I could look down at one point because it felt like all my skin was being ripped off. She worked fast and was super knowledgeable, explaining the different phases of hair growth, providing great advice for aftercare and when to book subsequent visits. It was no walk in the park but I wouldn't mind coming back so I'd say it was a pretty decent experience. She had the receptionist give me a few samples and I also got 50% off for my first time. Worst experience ever. I had an appointment with Felicia and they had to change to another waxer cause she was out. The person they gave me was ok. But she missed spots. She left hair on my underarms and even in my private area that I was getting waxed. Honestly I am so upset because I paid so much to look good for my vacation and now I still have to shave my underarms and my private area.
