I started going to European Wax when they first opened in Denville (a few years ago). I've gone to the Succasunna location several times as well as taken my teen, who is deathly afraid of pain. There isn't a question they have the best wax, the best tools and the most knowledgable staff. I agree packages are overwhelming and Ive never gotten one. I moved to Florida in October; while there have the most locations in FL, none in my area. I'm in NJ for most of the summer & have been getting all of my favorite stylists to do everything I need. I went to get my hair done with my stylist of 8 years, she is the best. In hopes of killing 2 birds with 1 stone last Thursday, I asked her to do my eyebrows, which she has touched up a few times. Well I want them re shaped and she told me "you have to go to European Wax!" I said I have been and love them but thought she could do it also. She said "honestly salon equipment is not made to redesign or get detailed with waxing. Only EUROPEAN wax has the tools and talent." So she passed up doing a service on me, directed me to take my large tips to someone else, who she believes is the best. When someone who stands to make money on you and easily can, but is honest enough to tell you where to get the best service, how can you not believe it to be true? If the front desk staff isn't professional, address it there or later, otherwise write a bad review, go back to a salon (or worse a nail salon) and get chopped up work, just to spite the staff!? Like I said I've been here SEVERAL TIMES with just about every employee. I get full bikini and eyebrows, my 15 year old gets underarms and eyebrows. I've taken her to the BEST salon in the area and not only is the wax bad, creates patches of red skin that turn into ugly scabs before healing and always ingrown hair. I'd never take her anywhere else. If I want quality, id never go anywhere else. Whatever your excuse, find the right technician for you, if you want something special done the front desk will tell who does what best. This place HAS NOT sprouted into a huge conglomerate in a blink of an eye, for just waxing because of poor service. I think everyone has been in the SERVICE INDUSTRY. Be an adult and ask for what you want. There is no other place that comes close! While I've had Denville front desk be a little snippy (but honestly who cares) my techs have always been wonderful. I have never had a bad experience in Succasunna, and their success speaks volumes. If you care about not getting a hack job, you'll go to EW. I'm just amazed at some of the whinny reviews. Apparently you don't have a good idea of quality waxing and/or you have your eyebrows or whatever waxed the exact same way since the 80's! These people are the best, most professional and trained by the best to get their licenses unlike salons!!! They follow every cleanliness and health precaution; which is another thing ppl should care about! No brainier. Unless you want to pick up the clap getting waxed because the fiercely pretty girls upfront, give you the feeling they have a "tude." I think some women are just intimidated by young pretty girls and maybe they could do better to train them to be more professional, however, no reason to take the time to rip them up in a review! read more

Just when I thought it was safe to get my brows waxed. When I go to this place I spend 10 minutes explaining I'm growing my brows out please just take the strays. I love the type of wax they use as I have extremely sensitive skin. I was so pleased with the waxing that I ended up buying a package. And their products are the best, especially the new line! After recently moving to Roxbury township from New York. I decided to give this place a try. I've previously been to many locations in Manhattan and had great service. However, this location is the worst!! Upon arriving I opened the door and was immediately screamed at like a dog by the front desk person to wait outside. Once entering the salon after a 20 minute wait in the cold. No one helped me or even spoke to me. Three women stood around the front desk awkwardly staring at me like I was an alien from outer space. The entire staff made me very uncomfortable. So I spoke up first told them my name and that I had an appointment. An older lady with a beehive hair style gets on the phone and screams "your appointment is here." Update: Elvira is alive and wearing way too much makeup. Even after receiving the service I wasn't pleased with the staff at all. I've been treated better at Panera. The manager Nicole did come out to make a sad attempt at small talk. However she would mostly respond with "good for you". It seemed almost sarcastic and snarky. Very off putting, I told my neighbors about the experience and other wax centers. The first time I came here, my eyebrows came out perfect, but I couldn't justify the price (first time was free). I wasn't ready to commit to one of their passes either. So I kept going to the nail salon. Well, after one spontaneous--and disastrous--waxing at a new nail salon that ruined my eyebrows, I decided I will never get them done at a salon again. Fast forward to my second appointment: I was nervous going in because it had been six months since I'd last had them waxed (yes, that's how long it took them to regrow after the salon). Donna was wonderful. She pointed out areas that need growth, explained why she was going to leave certain areas alone, and gave me advice on oils I could use to encourage growth. The waxing was quick and painless, and my eyebrows have never looked better. I can only imagine how great they'll look after I continue to take proper care of them. After really thinking about it, I decided to commit to their 9 wax pass--this brings each waxing down to less than the price of my nail salon. A win-win! Unfortunately this is the worst waxing experience I've had thus far. I only come here because it's the closest one. But I would rather the denville location than this one. The brazilians I've had they leave hairs all over and tell you you should be using their serum more to get the hairs ready for waxing. The worst was my eyebrows. I decided to try them out and the girl waxed off too much on one side then the arch was all wrong and lopsided! When I got home I was crying realizing how bad it was. I went to EWC in Roxbury today for my first Brazilian and I will definitely be back! The girls at the front desk are super nice and professional, and they make you feel welcome right when you walk through the door. Jules was my waxer, and she was beyond awesome! Jules knew it was my first time getting a Brazilian (I was extremely nervous lol) but she made me feel comfortable and she was great at calming my nerves. As of 2 months ago I would have given this location 4/5 stars. However I found myself incredibly disappointed the last few times I had appointments. A little over a month ago I came in for a Brazilian. Once I got home I noticed how splotchy it was and how much hair was left. I never went back to get it fixed because I am 6 months pregnant and have a 21 month old at home. It's not easy to get out to make these appointments for myself, and honestly with my belly it was hard to see the wax job until I got home. So I let it slide because normally they do a great job. Fast forward to last week. I had an appointment for a Brazilian. I was a few minutes late and they told me the could get me in with another person to wax me in 5 minutes. After watching people come and go, and come and go, over and over... I realized they totally forgot about me. I was trying to be patient because I know I was a few minutes late. However I waited 50 minutes from when they told me "5 minutes". When I addressed this, they had a look of shock and told me they "dropped the ball and never checked me in". They weren't going to have any availability for me for a while so I just rescheduled for the next morning. The manager called me and left a message that she was adding $10 credit to my account for the inconvenience which I appreciated. So the next morning I went back for my wax. (Again please remember my pregnancy and having to find someone to watch my toddler ever time I try to make these appointments). So I'm on time and check in.. it was busy with walk ins and appointments. However after noticing people come and go over and over (AGAIN) I addressed the women at the front desk after 35 minutes and (AGAIN) they had dropped the ball. They lost my card and basically forgot about me. Finally they got me in, the girl did a good job and was nice. When paying (I have a package), they informed me that my package was depleted and I have to pay for this appointment. They deducted the $10 and I paid. Then, surprisingly, without any sort of incentive for my inconveniences, they tried selling me another package. I told them no thank you and was honest that because of these circumstances I don't see myself buying another package (I've been a member for about 5 years now (4 of those years was at the Woodbridge location when I lived there and I LOVED Katie there). Overall what a disappointment. I understand mistakes happen. But if I screwed up with my customer and they have to come back the next day, you would be sure that I would make them a priority. Having had to wait almost an hour and a half (which totally messed up my next 2-3 hours of things I needed to get done), I can't see myself bringing business back to a location that did nothing to rectify the situation after it escalated the second day. Not even a call from the manager after this happened a second time.. So my suggestion... if you go there, make sure you keep an eye on your waiting time so you too are not forgotten (2 days in a row)! read more

I went from a 5 stars rating to 0 stars as today I was very disappointed with service that I received. Being a member since this facility opened, had to reschedule my appt do to personal reasons. I received a call at 5 minutes before my appointment I was still within the 9 minute grace period and in the parking lot. Antonette called me try to persuade me out of coming by telling me I would only have a six minutes waxing (which I think was plenty of time,) she did not seem happy about that. When I walked into the store she was rolling her eyes seemed to be talking about the situation with her employee in front of the customers which made me feel very uncomfortable. I think this explain why they can have consistency with there employee as I had to chase estheticians many times bc there no longer working in this facility. I think Antonette need some customer service training and European Wax needs to be more cautious when having someone like her in the front desk. read more

I only ever go here when my waxer isn't available and I'm still not impressed. The price is outrageous for the quality of work. I got a Brazilian and eyebrow wax and it was $89 not including a tip which made it $107. I wouldn't mind if the price was that much if the quality of work was 5 stars. My eyebrows got completely messed up when I asked for a clean up. They're thinner and both my eyebrows are shorter in length than before. For my Brazilian wax not all of the hair is off. When I got home I realized hairs left which made me pretty upset. Last time I went to European wax center was in the summer and the same thing happened where hair was missed during my Brazilian. When I went back to get it fixed I tipped again which made the high price even higher. I didn't technically have to tip but it's a service being done so I did. And yes, maybe I could have checked before I left to see if there were hairs missed but I really shouldn't have to. I asked for a Brazilian so strips of hair shouldn't be left. This is my third time coming here for a Brazilian and the job can't seem to be done right. Only go to this place if you're absolutely desperate for a wax and can't get in anywhere else. It's a mediocre job for a high price. The only thing I will say good about getting waxed here is the hard wax they use doesn't hurt as bad as soft wax. read more

I have very fine/light blonde but bushy eyebrows. I've never known what to do with them myself or how to do them. I also hate having my eyebrows plucked and was a little to scared to try threading. Since this is so close I decided to just try it and ended up with a free eyebrow session. The people at the front desk were very nice, my technician was awesome I didn't feel a thing and I was in and out in five minutes. The best part was they didn't try to sell me stuff i didn't want or push for appointments close together. The place was also very clean . Would highly recommend. read more

I didn't believe that they would work as well as they proved to! My favorite is the ingrown hair serum and the lotion doesn't leave you feeling slimey... At all! They always try to be accommodating. I used to think very highly of this place as I have been going there since they opened however the service has gone down hill. Most of the good waxers have left and I haven't heard good things about the newer ones. I recently missed an appointment due to medical emergency and received a voicemail threatening that if I did it again that I would be put on a waxing probation and not be allowed to make appointments. The employees are rude and extremely unreasonable (Especially Carson). I called to let them know that I was running a little bit late (because of the strict late policy), but that I would be there very soon and should be there by the 9 minute exception. I then pulled in the parking lot 7 minutes late, and walked into the doors and up to the counter at 9 minutes. I then had to wait for a lady being helped ahead of me. Once I got helped at the counter I was denied my appointment by an employee laughing because I was 10 minutes late and NOT 9... At that point I was told I could come back much later in the day. Since my business isn't welcomed there however, I declined and will take it somewhere it is appreciated and where employees treat the customers reasonably. I wouldn't want to make the drive again to get there earlier and then not be taken because they are helping others again. read more

I started coming to this location when they first opened. It took me a few tries to find the waxer to do my eyebrows and I got in a groove with Morgan. Sadly, Morgan has since left :( and now I am back to booking with whoever. Great service. Very kind from when you walk into the time you walk out of the door. I had the worst eyebrow experience of my life here. For the price they charge, i couldn't believe the woman let me out of the room with my eyebrows so uneven. Luckily, this was my first wax here so it didn't cost me a penny, except for a much too generous tip which I had to give to the woman who tried her best to fix what was done. I asked simply for a cleanup and she thinned my eyebrows so much, it was almost traumatizing, not to mention she left one noticeably thicker than the other. I wish I remembered her name. This was my first time here after being recommended by a friend. I've been getting my eye waxed for like 15yrs in a nail salon and this is by far the BEST experience I had!!! My eye brows came out perfect...finally found a place that LISTENS. Also, I'm a big baby when it comes to pain, so when my friend said it was practically painless i was skeptical, but man was I wrong. This didn't hurt one bit, and my pain tolerance is pretty low!!!! Interesting place. I LOVE the fact that the first wax is on them. Definitely a great marketing campaign. For the average person, a monthly waxing membership isn't in my budget. Eyebrows came out OK. I've had better. But I will say the customer service was great and the rooms EXTREMELY clean and the building itself was awesome. They also did introduce me to a great eyebrow fill-in product. It was expensive but worth it. They also give u a cute gift bag when you leave and have a referral program. I'd suggest trying it out at least once for free- but don't get suckered into a membership or buying a bunch of products. Cool place overall. read more
