Evenly serviced my pool for nearly a year...he promised he'll do certain things never did like clean drain hole etc. he always charged a late fee each month if you don't pay immediately (not 30 days)....worst he had a technician who didn't turn off the water from the hose limiter and water filled and filled over my pool cover...not sure how much water was wasted as I had to pump water from my pool cover for a day. I fire him after that paid him in full. Worst next month I got a water bill for $2200! In these days where water rationing is so acute...thinking of this waste made me write this review! read more

I used Evan from 2019 to today. I have never had a service company that caused me so much aggravation. Evan refused to give a service window and expected us to leave our gates unlocked all day. His guy would show up anywhere from first thing in the morning to late in the afternoon and there was no way to know when they were expected, so basically the whole day was about prepping (removing pool cover and then letting water evaporate and cool until they showed up) and waiting for them. Every pool day was a lost day of privacy, as you never knew when they would come through the unlocked gate. Then, on occasion, he randomly doesn't show up and doesn't bother to let us know. After preparing the pool for his visit yesterday, he never showed up. We have talked about this before, and he told me that "sometimes" they skip a day after a holiday. That's fine, but how about letting your customers know if you aren't going to show up? When I texted that I was aggravated at the inconvenience of having waited all day for him and I thought he should have sent a message that they were running a day late, he told me I was the problem. He then quit this morning without servicing the pool and without warning. We had a contract, which he refused to honor. He left my pool at risk because it was due for cleaning and he will not honor his commitment. I asked him to show up and service the pool one last time, as arranged, and we would part peacefully. Instead, he ghosted. From what I can tell in conversation, his worker's don't like him either. Be prepared for high turnover and strangers in your yard. Filter service did not go smoothly either, with missed timelines and sketchy answers. He signed me off with a snarky "good luck finding another pool cleaner.' Newsflash: it took me 10 minutes to find a new pool cleaner. They were here to inspect my pool within the hour, they come with strong references and they have no problem with my expectation that they communicate a reliable service window. I expected Evan to reply and deny responsibility, but it looks like he just asked another customer to wright a favorable review instead. That speaks for itself. read more

Evanly Pools maintained our pool for two years. I would NOT recommend them. Highly unprofessional, and deserving of a CSLB complaint. Our filter pump is fairly new and has worked perfectly since we purchased our home, except after filter cleanings by Evanly. Evan cleaned our pool filters last week, then our filter pump stopped working within a few days. The same thing happened immediately after one of his technicians cleaned our filters several months ago. When I mentioned this pattern to Evan and asked him to address it, he promptly fired us as a customer. He took no responsibility whatsoever, just walked away after 2 years of fully paid service leaving our system in disrepair, and blamed the customer (wrongly). Early in our relationship Evan also blamed me for failure of a very old booster / sweep pump we inherited from the previous homeowner, which was already at the end of its service life. Interesting way to treat a customer. Judging from a one-star review below, I anticipate he will write a long reply blaming me and the pump / timer settings I elected. In collaboration with Evan's employee (Hector) we determined proper pump / timer settings after a few months of experimentation with our system, optimizing smooth operation of our sweep and reducing electricity usage almost 50% (versus settings Evan wanted) while keeping our water very clean. Then we had no issues for a full year, until his employee left and Evan came to service our pool himself. The pool was in good shape, but Evan perhaps was having a bad day and sent me very disrespectful texts, which I ignored until I found my filter pump not working after Evan's filter cleaning. When I brought the issue to Evan he fired us immediately by email - no phone call, no transition, just walked away. Fortunately, I promptly found a minority-owned firm to take over, the pump was fixed with no hassle and minimal cost, and we are so happy to be done with Evan and his attitude. If you are intelligent and wish to operate your pool system efficiently, and prefer honest, competent answers about your system rather than attitude and bluster, Evanly Pools might not be a good choice. read more

A few years ago, Evan and Victor discovered that Marin Water starting using phosphate to reduce lead in the water. This was the cause of a number of algae blooms--algae love phosphate. Ever since, they've treated the pool with phosphate removal chemicals and the water is crystal clear. I recently purchased a foreclosure home and the pool had been badly neglected, in fact we had no idea how deep it was or if anything worked . The spa was also in disrepair. After buying a home with a pool, I quickly realized that pool ownership is amazing but also daunting. The pool, as it turns out, is like a child: needy, temperamental and in need of much care and attention. Unlike children, however, you can outsource all pool care to Evan. He is incredibly knowledgable about pools (20 years of experience!), and he comes every week to take care of our pool and hot tub.
