It disappoints me to leave a negative review for anyone, especially one that operates as a solo contractor, but I feel strongly that it is important to be honest and warn anyone considering Robert's services. Initially, Robert seemed trustworthy and thorough, spending several hours looking into our hot tub and locating the problems. He informed us of the parts and steps we needed to take to hopefully repair our hot tub. He requested payment upfront for these parts and his services, which we provided. This is where he became unreliable in his performance, communication, and attendance. He reported the parts were arriving later than he had initially expected. Then the day before he was supposed to bring the parts once received, he reported he fell and could not come fix the hot tub. We rescheduled and on the new date he was due to come, he said his car broke down and he would have to delay the repairs again. Eventually, he did come out and after tinkering at the tub again, reported that we still needed one more part and that we would have to pay for it before proceeding. We realized he was requesting payment for a part he said he already ordered weeks prior, and so we requested copies of the invoices for the parts we had already paid for. He said he had to go home and get the invoices, after which we never heard from him again despite multiple messages and phone calls. We are extremely disappointed by this experience and unscrupulous nature beheld by Robert. Please think twice before considering services from this deceitful individual. read more

Avoid this company and working with Robert at all costs. Robert is friendly enough when you first interact with him and was quick to schedule the first inspection of my hot tub. Things were all down hill from there - he showed up at 9 PM that day without any heads up when he originally promised to be there around noon. Spent about 30 mins inspecting the hot tub and raised the service call fee by $100 on the spot saying that he would need to spend additional time on his own looking for parts. He sent occasional updates after that saying that our hot tub was still a priority and that he was still looking into it. Then after about a month he stopped reaching out and became slow to respond. Despite all of this, I remained patient and committed to having him complete the repair since I just paid him $275 to take a look. I finally got Robert to agree to come out 3 months after the initial inspection after stating that I would take my business elsewhere. This is where it gets BAD - he drunkenly calls me the night before the appointment incomprehensibly rambling about his business but says that he will still see me the next day. Guess what? He never showed, didn't return calls etc. I STILL haven't heard from him since that incident almost 3 weeks ago. In short, look elsewhere for your hot tub needs. It's been over 4 months of me chasing Robert, trying to give him my business, but he's a fraudster, unreliable and impossible to work with. He would refund me my $275 if he had any decency but he won't return my phone calls or texts after such an embarrassing incident and his phone line is now suspiciously disconnected. Unfortunately, I am obligated to write this negative review of Diamond Spas and Robert Diamond to hopefully save others. To be fair (which he is not) Robert has helped me in the past and charged me fair prices so I thought I would call him again for another repair on my spa. This time it was a mistake and I will no longer use Robert Diamond and I strongly urge you not to use him either. I am a fair person and expect to be treated equally. However, I was taken advantage of and conned out of $$. I called Robert due to a broken heater. He assessed my issue and told me I had leaks as well. I knew I did as the tub is over 20 years old, but I didn't want to spend too much fixing it. He asked for money upfront for parts and travel expenses. I even said, "You are not going to take my money and run, are you??" He texted me pictures of more parts he needed but I never saw the parts. He would say they were in his truck. He installed a used heater but never finished the job. He kept dragging me on with excuse after excuse as to why he couldn't come or why it couldn't be fixed. He said he had traffic issues, internet problems, medical issues, and hospital trips, you name it. I gave him several opportunities to make it right with me and refund me $$ for an uncompleted job that he dragged on for over two months. He never did. I finally came to my senses and called another company that came out and is working on the issues and seems to be resolving them in a professional way. The new repair person even asked if my last repair person was Robert Diamond. So he has a bad reputation in the industry locally. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. I wish I did. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. After some back and forth to schedule the visit, Robert turned up in my backyard outside of the window he told me to expect him. He asked me to write a check for $150 and that it would count towards any work completed towards fixing the issue. It all went downhill from there. He was difficult to understand, didn't seem to know what the issue was, suspected it was the "wet in" but later said I needed a new pump, which he later texted me a picture of one that was out of stock on eBay. I asked him to clarify if it was the pump that was malfunctioning or if it was something else to which he was unable to answer. After following up with the conflicting information over text, he went dark. After the weekend I followed up as one of the pieces he put in to fix the flow that seemed to cause a new leak and the filter he left sitting outside while the jets were left running. I believe he created more problems than he solved, colored red sharpie inside my tub to mark the water level before leaving the jets on all night to check how fast it was leaking, he left the front panel open, ignored my messages and never provided me with a recommended resolution to the issue. When I followed up with him later last week he said he hurt his back. He still didn't answer any of my questions and in his final masterpiece of a text, he sent me this (verbatim): "Ben Pump Recuij Redb" Steer clear of Diamond Spas! read more

In a word... AVOID. Long time client. At first, Robert was great. Got my tub up and running and was reasonably priced. As time went on, Robert would be days late for appointments and increasingly hard to get ahold of. Recently Robert left me in a very bad situation as I was planning to rent my home out and the spa was a key part of that. I'd been talking to Robert for 6 weeks prior to ensure he'd come and have it ready. The night before I was set to leave town he promised me he would be there the next morning. Guess what? Never showed, didn't return calls etc. Pricing - his pricing is INSANE. He tried to raise the price on me by over 300% for a clean. It's a shame because I really want a chem free tub, but working with Robert is not something I could stomach any longer unfortunately. This has been a ridiculous experience - in the past I had my hot tub drained, washed and filters replaced for $300 done same day. Robert charges $1500 and promised to bring new filters and a new mineral system to replace chemicals. I could not use my hot tub for a week because he took a week to drain, wash and refill it. SCAMMER ALERT! RUN! DO NOT GIVE ROBERT YOUR BUSINESS! It pains me to write this review as I really had high hopes for Robert Diamond (aka Gary Robert Munson) and his company Diamond Spas in Mill Valley/San Rafael (previously known as Future Spas). We have been trying to get a hold of Robert to finish the hot tub repair work he started for the past 6 months for which he stole $4,500 from us (for the same fixes that would've cost $1,500 now that we know better). When we met him, he seemed knowledgeable and trustworthy and made promises that he would fix our hot tub and would maintain it for us and would be available if any issue were to arise in the future. Needless to say, his greatest attribute is his ability to sell you FALSE empty promises! Since he was recommended to be reached out by the Hot Tub Doctor in Novato when he wasn't available, we made the mistake of trusting that Robert would follow through on his word. Not only did he make deadline promises of having it done within days but he dragged it on by making up stories and excuses why he wasn't able to make it to his numerous-missed appointments. In addition to that, he also stole some parts from our hot tub! We later found out the hard way that he scams people into giving him an advance to repair their hot tubs so he could buy parts but does not follow through on his responsibilities thereafter. He has literally dragged us on for 7 months...and our hot tub is still not repaired yet! I normally don't write reviews but I cannot stress enough to others to not use him for his services. He doesn't give anything in writing even though he promises to give you an invoice. He keeps on making up additional things that need to be repaired even if those were not included in his initial diagnosis before. He is not a licensed contractor so BEWARE! We'll be seeking restitution against him. Please feel free to reach out if something similar happened to you and you'd like to join in on a class action lawsuit. Robert converted our hot tub to chemical-free, which totally made sense to us after he thoroughly explained the benefits of ditching all the harmful chemicals. He did a great job draining, cleaning and getting us set up on the new program. Yes, his services do command a premium, but bear in mind that holistic approaches to living are worth it because they have a positive long-term impact. I can not recommend Robert Diamond enough. I would give 6 stars if I could. After a series of poorly executed repairs by a previous repair person, Robert came to my rescue. He explained the issue and showed me the problems. He fixed the heat which didn't work and the jets, He also cleaned the tub and filters and got it up and running, like new for the first time in months. He communicated through out the process ( as it was not so simple). I hope to not have to need his help again for a while, and would not hesitate to call him if I did read more

Truly -- avoid doing business with this man at all costs. We were drawn in by reviews saying that, unlike other spa repair people, he will try to fix things instead of selling you a new hot tub. This part is true. That said, Robert is a horrible communicator -- we had to chase him down for MONTHS to ask for updates as to when the parts we had already paid him for would be in and he would be by to come "fix" our hot tub. He would give us dates that he was going to come by and then would no-show without a text or a call. We would have to reach out to him to find out what was going on. Finally, when he did come "fix" our hot tub, replace the parts, clean and refill the water.... the hot tub WAS NOT FIXED. It had the SAME issue that it had when we had initially contacted him months earlier. In the end, we are out $2,500 and have nothing to show for it. Robert is the most caring trustworthy man who also happens to be damn good at repairing and maintaining hot tubs. He helped me over the phone for 30min on New Year's Eve and then came over to help trouble shoot. He went way beyond repairing and actually introduced me and my family to a whole new way to look at water and how we could have a hot tub hat is alkalized naturally and therapeautic. He really knows what he is doing and came with extremely thoughtful solutions. I didn't just gain a repairman but a friend as well. I've really struggled with what to say in this review. Let's start with Robert: a stand up guy working super hard, honest and friendly as they come. He was truly wonderful as a human to work with and interact with. We converted our spa with Robert in spring of 2019. Since then we've had to have him come back once and pay him to do it all a second time, and the water in our hot tub has been a roller coaster to manage. We love the idea of going chlorine free, especially because we bring our you f kids in the hot tub regularly. But it's just extremely unpredictable. We clean our filter and cover all the time now (minimum once a week on the filter, sometimes more, even daily, and once a month on the cover). We run the jets constantly because our ozonator doesn't run automatically. Any time we think about it we step outside to run the jets. We bought the aquarium net Robert recommended and we manually clean it every time we go in. We're putting in industrial strength hydrogen peroxide by the gallon so often it feels silly to have even moved away from chemicals on the first place. And at least once a month we go to step in the water an, huh? why is it discolored? Why does it look strange? Why does it smell off? ::spends the next 7 days doing all the things daily, over and over again trying to get it back to normal:: So, le sigh. We want this to work but it's so unpredictable and annoying as frequent users of our hot tub, so now we're considering converting back. Which basically means we had to waste $1k ($500 twice) for this grand failed experiment. This could all just be a problem with our model of hot tub, and I truly believe Robert did his best work to convert it, but it's just too much of a headache to carry on at a certain point. read more

I couldn't have asked for a better experience in the repair of my hot tub, than I had with Robert Diamond. I called after-hours. He called back the same night. He was extremely courteous and communicated well. It was clear that he was knowledgeable. I felt confident, I had found the right guy and I had. He came the following day as scheduled and evaluated the situation and explained it clearly to us. We had a major leak that was gushing. He would need to purchase materials to repair it and told us he would return the next day which he did and he repaired the leak. Robert did not even charge us for the 2nd service call. I'm writing this to try to figure out what happened to Robert Diamond and Diamond Spas... for several weeks I've been calling and texting him asking for a service on our tub, which he was supposed to do once a month. His phone is no longer in service and it appears he has completely disappeared. I hope he is ok, and I'm extremely confused. I'm left wondering what to do with my hot tub, which is getting increasingly dirty. There doesn't seem to be anyone else offering comparable service, which I'm starting to think means I need to have a company come drain my tub and start all over again with chemicals... even though it's the middle of a very bad drought and I was hoping to avoid chemicals altogether. Robert replaced my very old spa pump that was spewing water every time it cycled on. He came to my house, drained the spa, disconnected the old pump, found a replacement, and came back the next afternoon to install the new pump, refill the spa, and test that all was working properly. He followed up a couple of days later to make sure everything was working properly. The two trips, about four hours of labor for the disconnect and reconnect, and the brand new pump cost $700. Having a somewhat persnickety uncommon-make (and shape) tub was no problem for Diamond Spas. Robert and Tom were easy to communicate with by text, kept us well informed of when they would arrive, quickly diagnosed the problem(s), patiently explained *why* our tub wasn't working properly, walked me through plumbing and electrical diagrams... all with good humor and returned when some part didn't work properly (and helped me troubleshoot why it hadn't). They left the tub sparkling clean, and *patiently* explained how to keep the water clean with minimum chemicals. Very pleased with them - and their work. read more

Following the installation of a faulty pump when finally reached (after several attempts), he DENIED having done the work, until I showed him the cancelled check for $550. Subsequently, he signed a personal I.O.U. which he REFUSES TO FULFILL. Herb's Pool Service replaced his pump for $429. Mr. Diamond usually refuses to answer his phone or respond to messages. read more

This guy is a total scammer. Totally lied and manipulated my parents who believed him when he said he needed to replace parts that were in fact not broken. Robert overcharged them for parts we later learned were selling for fractions of what he charged them and then had the audacity to charge them almost $700 an hour for labor. A simple part installation was upwards of $375 and he was on their property for a total of 25 minutes.
