    Belly full of buffet!
    Sonja J.

Super lunch! We were going to eat elsewhere, but we were hungry, and there was a line to get in at that place, and it was a post-church-on-a-Sunday line. The area is so dense with restaurant options, i was overwhelmed by a Yelp search and getting hangry when This place popped up. When is grilled food not food? When is Indian and Pakistani food not good? They had a small, but complete buffet table, which gratified my husband because he was more than ready to eat. We each enjoyed a full plate for $9.99 with breakfast bread (poori) and lunch bread (naan)... too full to eat more. The menu changes based on what is available at the market. On this day, we enjoyed: Breakfast: anchari aloo, chana marsala, and a sweet cereal Lunch: daal tarka, butter chicken, tikka chicken, beef nihari, and white rice Excellent dishes! The simple appearance of the meal belies the complex blend of spices and cooking methods. I should have eaten only the anchari aloo and poori and been more than happy. Ask for a bit of chutney or onion to add a bite of *fresh* to the meal. My husband loved the nihari so much, i had to buy a spice packet and make it for him at home even though we were three days from moving out of the country!! Not as good, but i gave me a chance to study the dish from a different perspective and i will be cooking it in my new home. Good, clean and friendly atmosphere in a simple environment, but the food surpasses every other restaurant of similar cuisine i've had in San Antonio.

Friendly staff. Waited about 10 min for my food. Everything was delicious. There were two good chunks of marrow in the goat bones that was delicious. There is also a sauce that the goat is stewed in that makes it into the rice and adds a very nice flavor. The biryani itself has its own taste compared to other restaurants on town, it was delicious. The butter chicken samosas were great. The chicken was juicy and tender. I had never had pani puri before and the person in the kitchen gave me a quick tutorial. I will be ordering those again. I have almost bought chivda many times , but seeing all those beautiful fried curry leaves mix in, I couldn't resist. It was delicious. Nothing was over spiced, but it had flavor and some spice. I will definitely be going back. I would love to try their many different dosa. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Simple, tender, flavorful Chicken Tikka Boti.

Great little Indian/Pakistani spot under new ownership as of 5 months ago. Owner Simran's mother is the head chef who created a whole new menu using her own authentic recipes. Simran is so friendly and readily explained both ingredients and cooking style of each dish we inquired about. The Special of the Day is a buy one-get one free deal! Order at the front and food is delivered to your table. Complementary appetizer: thin sliced cucumber, carrots, and onions with a cool but nicely spicy green dipping sauce. Perfect before the main dishes AND as cool-down bites after mouthfuls of VERY spicy chicken or lamb dishes. We got two curries and a grilled item to share between three people. Beef Nirahi was full of shredded beef, barley, lentils, and more - thick, flavorful, slightly spicy, delicious! Perfect scooped up with the OUTSTANDING garlic naan. Best naan we've had anywhere! Karahi Chicken was bone-in chicken with fantastic spicy tomato-based sauce. So flavorful and good! Paired with long grain basmati rice - perfect. Grilled Chicken Tikka Boti was tender, juicy, simple, and fabulous! We really enjoyed everything we ordered. Only bottled drinks or bottled water available. Sunday brunch buffet for $9.99 sounds like it has plenty of yummy choices available. The restaurant is attached to an Indian/Pakistani market with bulk foods, spices, fresh produce, huge frozen section, and nice selection.of homemade sweets and naan. So glad we found this little gem of a place with a super engaged owner who made us feel welcome and informed AND who fed us so well!

Chicken 65 and garlic naan with a pint from the grocery.

This place is legit Pakistani food. Lots of great options (ask what's on the menu for the day). Their chicken 65 is the best and I love their beef kebabs too. Garlic naan is fantastic and cheap so be sure to get some with your meal. Hope they stay around for a while! I'll be sure to keep going and try all they have to offer.

Welcoming staff! Dishes that are genuinely made with pride and love. You can taste the mastery and dedication in every savoring bite. My favorite dish is the butter chicken and the garlic Naan. Once you eat here, you'll never go to another restaurant like it. What's more unique is that its also a grocery store. Take a few minutes and check it out! The whole experience is a nice little food adventure.

Evans BBQ Grill is adjacent to an Indian/Pakistani grocery store behind Gold's Gym off Encino Commons Road. The restaurant is small with only about 8 tables lined up along the shared wall with windows. The menu is hand written on a dry erase board, but no prices are posted. You order at the front counter and your food is brought out to your table. The "head chef" (as she referred to herself) was forward but likable and explained some of their more popular dishes. Drinks are (canned soda) in a cooler and they also offer a mango lassi or sweet lassi, which is a sweet yogurt drink traditionally served with cardamom. I did not partake, but would like to try upon my next visit. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food is here, and so very flavorful! We ordered the Beef Nahari and Butter Chicken with garlic and butter naan. The garlic naan is amazing and I scarfed down three pieces before I knew what was happening... :) It is prepared by hand, with just a hint of that wood fired flavor, and brushed lightly with a perfect combination of butter and fresh garlic. The Beef Nahari is spicy and the meat is very tender in a stewed broth, pairing perfectly with the naan. The buttered chicken is served in a rich sauce, slightly sweet and mild in comparison to the Nahari. My husband ordered the Beef Seekh Kabob. I believe it had a chutney sauce on it that my husband said made the dish taste rather odd. He didn't care for it much but the rest of the the food was delicious! I absolutely adored the small brass and metal bowls and spoons the dishes were served in. They had tiny brass handles with detailed designs. Personally, small touches like that make a huge impression and add to the overall experience of enjoying authentically prepared food. From what I understand, they have a buffet on Sundays. I would love to return to try a variety of their offerings here.

Decent place to get good food! I liked the Goat Biryani! I really like the fact that the food is prepared then and there. I had to wait a good amount of time for the Biryani(may be because I ordered a tray), but it was piping hot when it was given to me. Infact the people who run the place where so nice, they got someone to put the Biryani tray in my car, because it was hot for me to carry it. Please go here if you appreciate good international food and food only, this place is nice and clean, but devoid of any frills and fancies. I will post a picture of when are the buy one get one free days and items, for your reference.

Wanted to try a little of everything
    Gary R.

This place is straight up delicious. Try the chicken 65, chicken biryani rice, chicken karahi and don't forget the garlic naan.

This is the butter chicken I ordered! Absolutely amazing! This place won't disappoint!

After visiting the actual wonder of the world up close, when this famous name is mentioned, our expectations go way up. My go to Indian dish is the butter chicken and wifey loves ordering the Tandoori chicken, which we both did. Add a side of garlic Nan & basmati rice as a complement to the main course. Overall, we were pleased with the taste, although I should have gone up one spice level to perhaps get that combination of burn and flavor that I crave. The 65 chicken as an appetizer was ok, but we tend to like this dish deep fried & crispy, instead of baked. The restaurant is in a shopping center and shares space with the Thai Orchard business, as the same owner runs both restaurants. The inside dining is comfortable enough. The staff kept our drinks filled, which is always a plus to me. It was also nice that the drink selection included iced tea and fountain drinks, as us southerns desire and not typically offered in Indian restaurants.

The outside of the building shows its age with some faded menu advertisements, but once inside the restaurant opens up more than I expected. At first it feels small, but past the bar there's a comfortable-sized dining room. Every TV was tuned to the World Cup, which gave the restaurant a fun, energetic atmosphere during my visit. Service was prompt and friendly. My waiter recommended the pork for the momo dumplings and also suggested pairing the meal with one of their Himalayan beers. After reading several Yelp reviews, I ordered the sizzling pork momo, naan, and chicken vindaloo. I also took the beer recommendation, which ended up being a good decision considering I ordered the vindaloo at a 4 out of 5 spice level. The sizzling momo was the standout of the meal. The dumplings were excellent, and the accompanying sauce was flavorful enough that I found myself dipping almost everything into it. The basmati rice was perfectly cooked, and the chicken vindaloo had a nice level of heat without overwhelming the other flavors. The chicken itself was tender and cooked well. Portions were generous, and I ended up with more food than I could comfortably finish by myself. Overall, this was a great first visit. The dinner options were either a buffet, or order straight from the menu. Since the buffet was only $15 per person and included some items we wanted to have anyways, we chose the buffet. The choices were limited in number, but enough for us. Buffet included some traditional entrees like Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Masala and several different kinds of Curry dishes. The rice and nan complimented the dish. Wifey enjoyed her meal and felt like the spice level was good enough, but I wanted something a bit more spicy. If my taste buds don't burn a little, then I feel like it is too Americanized. I understand that a buffet is prepared for the average person, but since San Antonio is already known for spicy foods, then a dish or two of a higher heat level would suffice for me. The restaurant is tucked away in a shopping center and it not real visible from the street so luckily Yelp got us here. It is however, close to Loop 1604, so it is an easy drive after exiting. The wait for the delivery was only about an hour. That was fine with me, as I had plenty of things I needed to get done before I sat down to dine. When I lifted the bundle that was left at my door, I was shocked by the weight! I don't feel like I ordered all that much, but they sure sent a lot of food. I ordered lamb vindaloo, garlic, naan, rice, and samosas. All of it was truly delicious. The large pieces of lamb meat in the vindaloo were tender and soaked with the delicious flavor of the spicy sauce. There were not as many potato chunks as meat chunks, which I consider a good thing in vindaloo. The garlic naan was some of the best I have ever had. I ordered two of them, but really didn't need the second one. They were huge. By themselves, they tasted delicious, but when you dipped it into the vindaloo sauce, it was absolutely amazing. The very first Indian food I ever had was at a dinner party in 1973 when my family was living in Taiwan. The most memorable item for me was the samosas. The ones from this restaurant we're almost exactly like I remembered. I have to also comment on how well everything was packaged. All of the containers were shrink wrapped for extra precaution. I don't think anything could've leaked even if the driver put it upside down. I am anxious to go and try eating at the actual restaurant. Somehow it was off my radar. Supposedly, it's only 4.5 miles from my home who knew?
