I ordered a lamb gyro. I eat here each year when I'm downtown working at an Air Force conference. The prices have gone up, the temperature & quality went down. I have to agree with some of the other posters about things changing. It could be the prices of food, but that shouldn't ever mess with the quality of your product. With that stated it was still a decent gyro, but I've had much better, and much larger for what I paid! A lukewarm gyro, fries & a bottle of water - plus tip ran me over $20. Will I be back next year, probably not, we have a gyro place on base, & there are great Indian places across town. I hope they work on the items people are pointing out. Service wise - the gentleman was nice once I got him to speak with me & answer questions. They have TVs to watch, & it's a well lit, open quiet place to enjoy a book of you're alone, or people watch. read more

I was around the San Fernando Cathedral area and spotted this Indian restaurant. I noticed how the prices were inexpensive and they had pretty great reviews. Once walking inside you can see that theres definitely no frills. They had mostly people doing take out here instead of dining in. Foodwise, I got the mixed grill which had three proteins such as lamb and chicken. Also ordered basmati rice on the side and two portions of butter and garlic Naan. All were very tasty. I'm honestly disappointed with this place. It's trying to be a cafe but has the weird slower pace of a restaurant. You have no access to any electrical charging of your devices, the food prices has dramatically shot up in price, service is slow, and the whole interior looks awkward. The employees barely speak English as well so you have to repeat yourself a lot. It's a really mediocre place and the worse part is that it's intentional being so lackluster. I'll stick with Mexican food for now. More meat and less hassle. read more

Service was passable. Food was okay. The atmosphere reminded me of a takeout place. The food was a little expensive for the portion size. 2 samosas was $5, $8 with meat. The butter chicken we got was great but again the portions were rather small. We also got the goat biryanis which was a little salty for my taste, but the portion was a little better. The food and service were over the top. I have to have Chicken Tika Masala when I try a new Indian place, theirs ranks 5 out of 5 stars. The sauce was plentiful and full of flavor, the chicken was tender and tasty, some places it's a little dry, not here! I was asked how spicy I wanted it, I Like that alot, since I share with my wife, medium heat was required. The garlic naan was just right and was enhanced being dipped into the masala sauce. The veggie samosas were large and very tasty, lot's of veggie filling inside a nice crisp crust. We tried a "new to us" item, a veggie pakora, onion to be exact, onion Bujia......where has this been all my life?! Yum. A short walk from our hotel led us to Indian cuisine nirvana. read more

Absolutely amazing food and staff! Stopped by yesterday after finding it on Apple Maps, the name of the restaurant is I believe Zafron Delight so don't pass it up looking for The Indian night, you'd be missing out. The food was hot, fresh, and had so much flavor. The staff was also super nice, answered a couple questions we had and made sure we were enjoying everything. Very cute restaurant, clean and calm inside. But cannot stress enough, the food was actually amazing. Best meal I've had going out in a long time and have been thinking about it all night lol. I'd been to The Indian Night during my last trip to San Antonio and had a great meal, so I was excited to return this time. Unfortunately, the quality seems to have gone way downhill. The first issue was when I was seated and given water, the glass was very dirty. I asked for a clean glass, and they brought out a disposable plastic cup. I guess all the glasses were dirty? The food was also not nearly as good as the last time I was here. The samosas were dry and came with only one chutney in a squeeze bottle, which didn't look good. The naan was flat. The chicken korma I ordered was decently flavored, but the chicken itself was overcooked. I'm disappointed because the food was so good earlier this year. I will never step foot into this restaurant ever again. I don't say this often TBH. I give businesses the benefit of the doubt whenever I can. Not tonight. We go in. We get a seat, and then we go to the counter to order. We start to order, get cut off by a woman (manager) who talks about another order to the gentleman manning the ordering station. I start to order, and then the gentleman tells me to stop. I ask him if there was an issue, he said there was nowhere to seat us. I told him we were seated and were ready to order as we had heard such wonderful things about Indian Night. He said we could not order. I asked him why, he said because they were busy and had nowhere to seat us. I told him we had a seat and were so looking forward to eating their delicious food. He told me no. He would not put in our order. I asked him, "Are you telling me you will not serve us?" He said, "Yes." He then took the order from the people behind us. We were not drunk. We were not rude, I promise. We were respectful and kind, we had a seat, and he told us he would not serve us because they were busy. There are 100 ways to tell us the wait was going to be long, but instead he told us he would not serve us. I will never give this establishment our hard earned money. We always treat others with respect, but when we are not met with even 50% the same amount of respect? We will spend our money elsewhere. read more

This was a nice casual Indian restaurant right in the heart of the tourist district, just a block or two off the riverwalk. Pricing is great. It was quiet. My wife and I dined here after they'd been open just a few months. I thought everything we had was really good. Probably a "high 4-star" review. It definitely had the vibe of a place rockin' and rollin' in an attempt to put their best face forward. Dined here again last week, and I completely agree with Luke F. (left review 12/21/23) - I think this place has seriously lost a step - maybe three. One of the first things I noticed was the markings on the menus. My menu had multiple black markings - just slashes through the numbers - but my friend's menu didn't have nearly the amount of marks mind did. So, in passing, I asked our server, who confirmed those markings are because they don't have those items. Our server then admitted not all menus are marked. Essentially, there is probably a pile of menus - some marked - some not - so, ask if they have that item before you order. There seemed to be quite a few marks in my menu - so they must not have nearly what they used to have... On this latest trip, my friend and I were the only ones there - so the time it took us to get a simple chai was excruciatingly slow. Our food seemed to take even longer. I had chicken curry, which was not out of this world, but I ate is all because I was starving. As for my friend, I know he left over half his dish uneaten. They have great flavors and everything taste truly homemade. I really like the tikka masala, paneer, and the keema naan. My favorite, is their Samosas!! It looks family owned because I've seen the same 3/4 people working. Quality choice for Togo food that's yummy and fresh! read more

Have been hearing a lot about this place and gave it a try and it was ehh. I rather hit up other local places that I know deliver what they say they have. From an advertising standpoint they state they have a buffet and that they have lunch options posted on their window. Once I asked about them they said they don't have any of that just whatever is on the menu. Which I ordered from the menu the chicken tikka masala which only comes with rice no naan. I ordered a side of naan. Only to get a big bowl of rice and the chicken tikka having 3 small pieces of chicken. The side of naan having a burnt taste to it instead of garlic. Overall wasn't it especially for paying $27. If you're curious feel free to try it to find out but I do think there is better options out there. read more

Visiting San Antonio for a few days I was visiting the San Fernando Cathedral and the courthouse and couldn't help but smell the delicious scent coming from this restaurant so I had to have dinner. My order was simple, Chicken Tikka Masala, rice & Garlic Naan, but all of it was delicious. The tikka masala was flavorful and the chicken tender. The garlic naan was the thinner type with a crisp bottom but still foldable and delicious. Portions were great for the price and equaled two meals for me. read more

We were staying on the Riverwalk and really wanted Indian Food, so we decided to try Indian Night. The place is small and casual but it was clean and the service was good. We got 3 dishes: Butter Chicken, Paneer Tikka Masala, and Chicken Tikka Masala. The dishes each came with rice and it was enough food for four of us. We liked all of the dishes but the standout was definitely the Butter Chicken, it had amazing flavor with just a touch of sweetness. Three strikes and we're out.. We hopped in for dinner just after browsing a nearby Christmas festival. There were only two other tables. We had high hopes but those hopes fell flat. We kept it simple and I ordered the fish curry. Pictures look good but I was told they had no fish. No big deal, I changed my order to chicken saag. My wife order a beef dish. 15 minutes go by and here comes my food and hot naan. The server then tells my wife that they do not have any beef?? Why the heck would you wait for my food to be ready before telling us they didn't have her order. So, again we ordered another dish. I finished my food before she got hers. Also, the server refused to speak to my wife. Any questions she asked, he responded to me. He even looked at me to tell her they didn't have any beef. The worst thing about ordering food online, picking it up and unpacking it for the family? When 2 people get their meal, but the third person gets screwed because the staff decide not to include the food that was ordered. Three average tasting, small portioned curries, and three naan breads for over $75 seems a bit high, but doubly so when they couldn't even be bothered to include all of the entrees that were ordered. I know San Antonio supposed to be famous for BBQ, but I decided to try Indian food with a group of my friends during a conference. This place didn't disappoint. They served delicious authentic food (vouched for by my Indian and Pakistani friends). I especially loved their goat biryani. It's so good I can't stop eating it! The waiter was very friendly and patient with our large group. The place is pretty small, but it was quite late so our group was the only one there. THE BEST INDIAN FOOD IS IN SAN ANTONIO! We have had Indian food all over the US, in towns big and small. This is likely the best Indian food we've had anywhere. We started with vegetable samosas and aloo naan. We've never had aloo naan before and holy cow, that was great! For dinner we ate aloo motor gobi and chicken rolls masala. All were flavorful and perfectly seasoned. Even the basmati rice was perfect on its own. I had visited this restaurant two years ago and had been excited to come back and try this place again and was very disappointed. $60 for two orders of veggies samosas. That was 4 in a glass bowl, then given paper bowls you get at a gas station for your wings in to eat our samosas in. Fine we didn't say anything. Ate our samosas but never received our bottled water. Fine spouse got up to ask for the bottle water. Then 20 minutes later our chicken tandoori comes out 6 pieces on a dish with a side bowl of garlic naan. The chicken were the size of chicken wings (3 legs and 3 thighs). The legs were the size of the wings you get at wing stop, not even over exaggerating. We never got the rice that the man taking our order said came with the meal. So we sat there waiting thinking he would bring maybe the cook was still cooking it? Nope. The man taking orders was just pure lazy and rude dragging his feet as he walked with his crocs on and sat behind the counter eating his food. Fine. Just ate the chicken and naan and my spouse got up to pay and we left and tried to finish our night on a positive note somewhere else. It wasn't till I saw how much my spouse paid for the food till I decided to leave this review. $60. For 4 veggie samosas two bottle waters, one order of garlic naan and the plat of tandoori chicken. Now I wish I really had taken pics to help other people save their money and time and chose elsewhere. I will not return obviously which is disappointing since it was one of the main reasons why we came to San Antonio for our anniversary. Note I did leave an awesome review our first visit, experience. We stayed at the cutest air b n b above this restaurant. It smelled so good so my husband and I tried it. Omg!! It was divine, and that's an understatement. The layers of flavors and spices were heavenly. The lamb was cooked to perfection. The lentils were the best I have ever had. The next day I ate the leftovers and I even saved some to bring back home so my kiddo could try it. My favorite foods are Mexican, Indian, and Chinese and this is my new favorite place for Indian food. I will definitely be coming back and definitely ordering anything with lamb.
