Evans has taken great care of my old trusty Honda so took my newer Chevy to them for an oil change. Russ helped me tremendously with changing my appointment multiple times due to my schedule. I was greeted by several associates with a smile uppon arrival. One even setup the kids area for my granddaughter. I thought that was sooo sweet of them. Tim and the team at Evans Tire and Automotive provide truly exceptional service! In the middle of our 1000 mile trip from VA to FL, we got a flat tire on 95 near Smithfield, NC. Major Bummer. To top it off, when we unloaded the trunk to access the spare, it too was flat. A call to AAA and Evans T&A to arrange the dropoff was smooth, however one caveat was that tows are not taking any passengers... So off the car went, while we stayed on the side of the highway. Luckily Tim came to the rescue and sent a driver to pick us up! What a save to not have to walk a couple miles in 90 degree heat! The team diagnosed the problem quickly and was able to get us back on the road to continue our journey hassle free. They worked us into the schedule and were very sympathetic to our situation. While we waited, we were recommended a few lunch spots nearby to pass the time! Overall, I am thankful that our flat tire and road trouble happened so close to this business! Truly five star service! Sorry this review was a year over due. We broke down on 95 and if we hadn't broken down where we did I'm not sure we would have been back on the road that day. Tim found a way to squeeze us in and almost instantly recognized the problem. What went from seeming like a catastrophic failure turned in to a "simple" hose replacement. He got the part to the shop and got us moving as fast as they could. We might have lost five hours of road time but the ability of Tim's shop to get us back on the road that day saved us at least an overnight hotel stay and possibly a rental car to get us moving along. Tim knows his stuff and he passes that along to his crew. We were there for most of the day and every customer that came in was happy to be there, satisfied with their service, and not one person had an issue the entire time we were there. Having worked customer service in the past that is extremely rare. This place has fair prices, VERY knowledgeable owner/operator, great staff, and my only problem is that they are in North Carolina and not closer to Jersey. I was stranded due to a flat tire. I tried getting flat tire service through my insurance but the lugnuts that Ford put on the car were no good and would not come off. I ended up having to spend the night. I called around to auto shops the next morning and I spoke to Doug at Evans Tire. Despite the busy schedule Doug reassured me that he would be able to look and fix my car issue. while I was waiting on the tow to come take my car to Evans Tire, Doug called me back to see if I was still coming. That was something no one else did knowing my situation. I truly appreciate Doug for checking in it made me feel so much better. My wife & I were heading home from a trip down South & got a flat. Not knowing the area we called AAA and they gave us Evans Tire & Automotive. The staff was Super friendly & professional. They showed us that the inner wall of the front passenger side tire was worn & started to come apart. They also identified the driver side was in similar shape. They didn't try to make a sale, allowing us to decide whether to replace one or both. They got us back on the road in about a hour. Bottom line this place get 5 Stars hands down. read more

On our way to spend Easter with Family in MD, my husband & I broke down on 95 N near Four Oaks NC at 3:00 pm on the Thursday before Easter. We called AAA and they suggested a number of places, we called all of them and all but Evans Tire was too busy to look at our car that afternoon and most said they couldn't look at it until Tuesday after Easter. Not Evans, Doug Hitchcock heard the desperation in my voice and told us that they would be willing to take a look and do the best they could to get us on our way. While they were unable to fix it before they closed, he offered to help us locate a hotel that was pet friendly (we had our dog with us and he said he could come in to the waiting area). They had a good idea what it was and felt they could fix it in the morning and get us on our way. They were fantastic and while I hope to never need to go there again, anyone looking for a good, honest, small town auto service center, you can't go wrong with this shop. read more

Took in for an inspection. They told me my power steering was leaking therefore and I couldn't get it passed inspection. That it needed entire thing replaced. Quoted around $1700 and suggested Front and Rear disc brake repair.. (just couple mm thin!) and wheel alignment that was 'a must' totaling $2100. Took it somewhere I could trust. Nothing wrong or leaking with power steering system. There is NO DISC BRAKE in the back in this car. When you ever get an inspection here, LOOK CAREFULLY at the sheet. I don't want to read too much into this but I think they target certain customers with certain 'appearance' prone to be taken advantage of. I wasn't going to be one of them. I wasn't going to be the one that pays $63 for a Power Steering fluid (parts ONLY) when other honest ones charge $18. read more

Unexpectedly had to have my car checked due to pillowy smoke coming from under my hood. They suggested a pressure test to see if my radiator was cracked. Common sense should've told me that this was not a good idea... But after doing it I have a cracked radiator and of course my car isn't drivable bc it's leaking so bad (which I wonder why it's leaking so much when at first the mechanic couldn't tell where the crack was???). Then instead of letting me decide to have it fixed they roll out all the stops and say it's already been taken apart and ready to be fixed for $700. All in all, I feel cheated and taken advantage of- I would not ever come back to this repair shop again. Very friendly staff but dishonest in actually wanting to help the customer, they're more so interested in getting business even if that means pushing you to get it. read more

We were driving from NJ to our motel in GA, on our way to Disney. My van broke down in traffic on 95 South. AAA towed us to Evans, and they were incredible! They offered us cold drinks on a hot day, gave my son a coloring book, and were trying to help us find a car rental to continue our trip. (This was technically after hours!) Tim was even discussing getting us to the nearest airport because all the local car rental agencies were closed. In the end, we put our heads together, figured out what caused the breakdown, and fixed it. Tim didn't charge us a penny, and got us back on the road. The world needs more people like these guys! I live near Fort Bragg, NC and was traveling on i95N when my ancient Subaru Outback lost it's ABS and the needles on my speedometer & odometer fell to 0 even though I at full speed. I immediately pulled over at the next exit, which happened to be Selma. I called USAA's roadside assistance, who then sent a tow truck and coordinated with Evans Tire & Automotive. It was luck of the draw that my car was sent to Evans since I have never even been to Selma/Smithfield, let alone know which shop to use! Thankfully I wasn't stranded in Selma, but I faced the dilemma of how to get my Subaru back to Ft. Bragg since I'm on my own. Doug was constantly in contact with me to let me know what needed to be fixed and was 100% honest and upfront about everything. I felt very comfortable that I was NOT being taken to the cleaners on repair costs, which could have easily happened since they knew I broke down on i95 and was not from the area. The thing that blew me away about this company was the above-and-beyond customer service. I called this morning to confirm the address of their shop (since I had never been there) and I told Doug that I was taking the train from Fayetteville, NC to the Selma-Smithfield, NC Amtrak station and I was planning on just walking the 5 miles or so to Evans. He said, 'absolutely not, we'll come get you.' I don't know about other people, but never in the history of my life has an auto repair center cared this much about me and my car. He asked me what time the train would be there, and when I got off the train - there was an Evans limo! Crazy. The husband & wife who run Evans, Doug, and all the people at Evans were beyond kind throughout the entire experience. When I got into my car I found a cute little box of Easter jelly beans! Honestly, it felt like I took my car to my mom's house to get fixed. I would happily drive the 40 miles or so back to Evans just to have them do regular maintenance for my vehicles. I could go on and on, but the main reason I wanted to put my experience out there is to let other people know that there are good people in the world who will do a quality job, charge a fair rate, and be ridiculously kind all at the same time. I would recommend Evans to anyone in the Smithfield area (and further!) to take your business to Evans. To the owners, if you read this: THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. My first impression of Evan's tire was that they were a very honorable company. However after my last visit I found that not to be so true. I went in for a simple oil change and tire rotation. When my car was in the shop, they told me that my brakes were scrubbing and that I would need to replace all my brake pads and rotors. The reason that this caught me of guard is because all of my brakes were replaced only 5,000 miles before this service. Then they tried to sell me on all of these fluid changes that I knew had just been done at the dealer for my 100,000 mile service. This is one of the worst places to ever do business with. They are very dishonest and are only wanting a dollar. The owner was so rude to me that I have posted to never do business with them ever! read more

I was having issues with my air conditioning in my car. I called them set an appointment. They were helpful and quick. Explained everything went over everything with me fortunately it was not a major repair. I always have anxiety with where to take my car being a single woman. I worried that I might get taken advantage of. I've lived in this area 1 year now. And anything else I need done I will have them take care of it. They are trustworthy and kind of decent people. I did not feel taken advantage of or talk down to. I can't say enough good stuff about them. If you're unsure let them put your mind at ease. Trust me I was so worried. I recently moved to Smithfield and did not know any mechanics in the area. Prior to moving to this area, I used the same mechanic for fourteen years. I had become used to dropping off my vehicle and handing him the key. When I moved here, I dreaded trying to find another mechanic like that. Evan's Tire is the best. I have been a customer for 30 years, and they have never let me down. They are honest, reliable and just all-around good people. They explain what they think your vehicle needs, and will help you prioritize to save money. They provide loaner card, a limo shuttle and generous discount promotions. We recently got tires there, and left our truck while we went out of town. They took us and our friends to the local Amtrak station and picked us up when we returned. Another time my husband called in a panic from somewhere in Florida. Our Honda would not go into gear...Tim arranged a conference call, told my husband what to do to get it in gear and then called someone he knew to get the vehicle fixed. I bought tires this past summer from Evans. I chose them because they were closer to where I lived and I could get there quicker when I needed them rotated. Obviously, if you buy tires somewhere, you receive free balancing and rotations. However, I am a teacher and work from 8-3:30 and have about a 40 minute commute. I have yet to be able to get my rotation done free due to the awful business hours of this place. They aren't open on Saturday at all and when I have called them, they have told me the last appointment they take is at 4. Therefore, it is impossible to get there in time and I have had to pay other shops to maintain the tires (shops that actually take appointments convenient to people that work regular business hours). If you don't work part time or unconventional hours, I do not recommend this shop. I now take my car to the Car Service of Four Oaks when I need any servicing done due to them being open when it is convenient to my schedule. I won't do business with Evans again. read more
