We were in Town to watch our son pitch for Lafayette vs Navy and stopped into this hopping spot on Sunday morning for a pre-game breakfast. Small wait for a table but well worth it. I had the Feed the Navy omelet which had steak, sausage, bacon, cheddar cheese and it was cooked perfectly with a side of very good and hot hash browns and some kick butt marbled toast. Joyce went with a lunch option - loved her chicken salad sandwich with a chickpea salad on the side and a pickle. She still had coffee with it which reminded me of her mother but that's a different review to write some other time. Coffee was excellent and our server, Lauren J, was terrific. This review is strictly from the service standpoint because we were never able to order food. We walked in to wait to be seated since that is what the sign said. There were a couple of women in front of us, so we stood and waited. We looked at the menu and saw various workers walking around. After 10 minutes of no one acknowledging us we decided to seat ourselves at an open table outside. We sat for another 5-10 minutes and decided to leave since we still were unable to get acknowledged. I understand when people are busy, but a simple hello, we will be with you in a minute goes a long way. I personally felt unwelcome in the restaurant. I don't want to pull the race card, but I can't think of any other reason for being completely ignored and the unwelcome looks from the customers patronizing the business. Went for breakfast on Sunday, April 30th. I had avocado toast and my husband had a hash bowl. My breakfast was one slice of bread with avocado and underripe tomato slices. My side of home fries was clearly cooked from frozen and had absolutely no flavor or seasoning. My husband's "hash bowl" was eggs and home fries on a plate - also had no flavor. Service was slow and I had to wait over 20 minutes for the server to collect our payment. Our iced coffees were delicious and the restaurant was clean and quiet. Evelyn's has been on my "must try" list for quite some time. I ate here with my dad on a Friday around 12:30pm. The restaurant was packed outside and most of the tables were taken inside. We were told to sit wherever we liked. It took about 25-30 minutes to get our food. Not bad for a crowded Friday. We ordered: - Soup of the Day: Italian Wedding: Very hearty! I liked the taste. It's definitely a soup for a cold day. - Chicken & Cheddar Panini (chicken breast, cheddar cheese, bacon, avocado) with chips and pickle: Very good! The chicken wasn't dry. It had plenty of avocado, bacon, and cheese. I loved the waffle chips with seasoning. - Hash Bar (steak) with 2 eggs, toast, and home fries: My dad liked everything but the steak hash. The steak pieces were burnt to a crisp and tough as nails. At first, he thought they left the steak out (you can see from the photos they blend in with the potatoes) but he realized the dark burnt pieces were the steak. The potatoes were burnt and overdone as well. Very disappointing. My dad liked the 2 eggs and the toast was fine even though it was burnt along the edges. Sadly, the service we received wasn't as great as others have experienced. We were pretty much ignored compared to the other tables she had. She came over almost immediately after we sat down and gave us menus. We told her it was our first time eating there and we were excited. She went right into the drink order. She couldn't have cared less. She didn't suggest anything or mention what their restaurant was about (they support local farmers and have chalkboard list inside of the farms and where they are, sustainability, organic ingredients, etc) like we heard another server tell their table. We got our drinks shortly after. We were ready to order but she quickly walked away without saying a word and didn't come back for quite some time. While we waited for our food, she came by to refill my dad's tea. She spilled quite a bit of tea on the table. She walked away and never acknowledged it. There's no way she didn't see it while pouring. It was bizarre. We used our spare 2 napkins to sop up the mess. She spent most of her time chatting up patrons at a table outside. She never asked how our meal was. Towards the end of our meal, it seemed like she was trying to rush us out of the restaurant so they could turn over the table. Parking was a bit confusing. We were able to park on the street on the side of the building (make sure you read all posted signs!) You can use the the lot directly behind their building. The lot says it's private and doesn't say Evelyn's name, but a server we asked confirmed you can park there. Just a heads up for anyone wondering. I would be willing to give Evelyn's another try. I liked what I saw from the menu. My dad said he would pass. I did enjoy my meal. My dad only enjoyed part of his. If I do return, I hope I get a different server from the one we had. read more

This is the second time we have been here and while the establishment is nice and clean. The price increases are absolutely absurd. The images on yelp showing their menu prices are 50% lower then what they currently are. I understand inflation but these prices are not the case, they are that of greed. Again the establishment is nice and the food is average but neither of those reflect the prices. If you wish to throw $17 away not including tip for two eggs and a sausage, just let me know and I have some ocean front property in Arizona I can sell you. read more

A very cute little spot! I happened to be in the area with a friend and we needed a spot to for a victory lunch. I was very happy to find this little place. It served breakfast and lunch food too! It was affordable and a hopping little place at 11 am on a weekday! The waitress was very nice and friendly too! When we walked in, there were two signs that pointed in 2 different directions, one for dine in and one for carry out. We followed the sign and sat ourselves. It wasn't very long before the waitress came and gave us our menus. We had our drinks before us lickity split too! I ordered the pig in a bacon blanket. It came with home fries and 2 eggs ordered over easy. It was a perfect sized meal and delicious on every count! There really isn't anything bad I could say about this place nor would I want to. Came here for a quick lunch the other day. My parents dine here somewhat regularly but for me it was my first experience. It was smaller and a tad dingier than I imagined. While it was an overall good experience with great service, I wasn't particularly floored by the food quality. I had the Rachel with a side of coleslaw (I wasn't thinking). It was a decent, tasty sandwich. I felt the coleslaw tasted much better on the side than on the sandwich. If I return I'll be sure to try something from their all day breakfast menu. We stumbled across this place searching on Google Maps and thought we would try it for our Sunday morning Brunch. It is right across the street from a dinner venue we just tried during the Holidays and we didn't even notice it . Beyond having to wait for a table standing up, this place was a pleasant surprise. We understand why it was so crowded. The atmosphere is ideal and very cozy for a weekend breakfast, brunch or lunch in West Annapolis. Especially during the cold winter months. We both had omelet dishes with salmon and they were nothing less than excellent. Very fresh ingredients, tasty and well prepared. Not to mention the light speed service. This places only problem is finding room to expand. The coffee was very good too and you never have to wait for a refill. What really was a surprise was the very reasonable prices. A small bowl of fresh fruit as a side is only a dollar. Ironically, that is cheaper than buying it at a grocery store. We highly recommend this charming little neighborhood restaurant if you are looking for delicious farm to table cuisine with great service. read more

Three tries, once for lunch and twice for breakfast. Currently loving the vanilla French toast and pancakes! I've had the steak & blue cheese salad and the Reuben too, but I definitely like the breakfast offerings a little bit more. The buttermilk pancakes are fluffy and crispy around the edges, just the way I remember my Dad making them on weekends. The helpings are generous, which my belly appreciates, though my thighs certainly do not. The atmosphere is also delightful and airy. I bring in my laptop every once in a while, and I find that it's the perfect place to nosh and work. The service is super friendly and you can tell that the locals are digging this place because the cops are regulars based on the 3 occasions that I've visited. I'll be coming back! read more

This is very disappointing. We have been eating at Evelyn's for close to 3 years, and the service has taken a dramatic nose dive. This was our frequent stop on Saturday mornings before we started our day. I had many lunch meet ups here, over the years, with outstanding service. My wife and I went here on Labor Day Saturday. It was not busy, for we arrived at 0800. It took 22 minutes for anyone to visit our table for our beverage order, then another 20 minutes for the food. The waiter was difficult to understand for he spoke in such a soft tone, it was as if he was mumbling. Never came back for a coffee fill up, or to ask if we needed anything else. He gave us the check and we left. It is also to note, the place seemed dirty. The bathrooms were not to the cleanliness they had been, the walls had food splatter on them, and the floor was not swept for quite some time. Let's try it again on a Tuesday, 2 weeks after Labor Day. Shouldn't be too bad. Everyone has an off day. Went today after a visit to the Doctor. I noticed the same mumbling waiter outdoors attending to a patron. I went inside, waiting to be seated. The inside was not in good shape. Empty plates littered the tables, and the bar. There were only 3 folks inside eating. I waited for the waiter to come inside, 1 minute, 2 minutes, 3 minutes, 4 minutes, 5 minutes. At this point I could see they really do not care about their costumers, and left. I walked out to see the waiter and the 1 person outside carrying on about something that was amusing. Not a care in the world that I had walked in 5 minutes earlier, to get a seat. Truly, truly disappointing that a 5 star eatery can quickly become a 1 star avoidance. Turn it around Evelyn's, hire more folks, and start caring about your costumers again. You were my favorite place in Annapolis to eat. read more

The is a very cute brunch spot. The owner was very nice and very hands-on. He made our mimosa's and they were delicious! The place was very busy and the service was a tad bit slow but not bad by any means. The mimosas took about 5-7 minutes to get to our table, which isn't terrible. I ordered the corned beef hash bar with cheddar cheese. Although I would have liked the home fries to be a little crispier, the corned beef was so fresh and flavorful. The eggs were cooked perfectly. My fiancé ordered the breakfast burrito and it was delicious. The toast was also delicious and tasted like it was freshly baked! I will be returning! read more

Our waitress Karli was awful... unfriendly and nowhere to be found to give our food order and a coffee refill. The other waitress waiting on table next to us was super nice and could hear there were breakfast specials...Hmm guess Karli didn't know about them to tell her tables. 48 mins later food finally arrived from the food runner; no coffee refill or Karli in sight until 10 more minutes later when she tossed the check on the table without a word. Both my friend and I ordered the mimosa that was on special for brunch. It was a classic mimosa with fresh squeezed OJ and was very good. For brunch we both ordered the hash bar. I ordered it with corned beef and my friend with steak. We also ordered a single blueberry pancake because they looked delicious! As we waited for our meals the staff checked on us periodically and filled our waters promptly. They were all very friendly. When we got our brunches they looked delicious! Mine was awesome... the corned beef was well seasoned and slightly sweet, which I liked. I got it with fried eggs, that were perfectly cooked to over medium, and the marbled rye toast, which was amazing. My friend liked hers, but the steak was a little over cooked which took away from the tastiness of the hash. As far as the pancake went, the pancake itself was very good but we felt like there were not enough blueberries to validate a $1 up charge. I would probably get the chocolate chip next time as it seemed to be a larger chips to pancake ratio. All in all it was a lovely experience and I would definitely visit again! This is the quintessential neighborhood breakfast/lunch/brunch spot. You truly get a local neighborhood vibe when eating here. From start to finish, everything was great. All the servers/staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. We walked in with a party of 4 on Saturday morning and were thrilled to get a table outside without a wait. The menu definitely has options for everyone. They are also dog friendly, which is a nice plus. Service - stellar. Everyone was prompt and very friendly. Food - so tasty! I had the bacon wrapped sausages and was not disappointed! The food is full of flavor and the perfect portion size. First time stopping in here. Place was nice and clean. I sat outside since it was a nice day but the inside was small and quaint. Got coffee and some water to start. Coffee was good. I ordered the Navy Omelet and it was pretty good, slightly above average. I liked that they had a potato substitute which was the vegetable medley. Also got a side of scrapple which I prefer to be a little more crisp, but all in all still very good. Had to ask for a refill of coffee, maybe just my expectation on being waited on is that when they see your getting low they offer to fill'r up. Still a good breakfast, they also have a lunch menu.
