WARNING, this is kind of long. Sorry! Despite the fact that I had email and text confirmations of my brunch reservation, there was no reservation found upon arrival. Yikes. This was a birthday treat for my friend. But we were seated at a nice table and the host said there was plenty of room. The waiter was great. Took our beverage order and invited us to browse the brunch. Before we got up the host returned and asked if our seating was okay because we were near an outside door. We said it was fine, didn't bother us at all. When we returned from the brunch offerings, the waiter asked us if we were comfortable and if everything was okay. Yes, it was fine! Just as we began to eat, another man came over and asked if everything was going well. Sure, we said. Then he said we would need to be moved to another table because they were expecting a large crowd. Seriously? So, our plates were picked up and off we went. He told us to wait until the table was cleaned off despite another table right next to it being all set up. Now things aren't so fine as the food is getting lukewarm and I feel like I'm disappointing my friend. Fortunately, the food was excellent, and we were able to go back to replenish our plates. We paid the bill and as we were leaving, we saw the original space where we sat was still empty. No big crowd. Waters edge needs to dot their I's and cross their T's and communicate among themselves much better than they did today. An excellent restaurant might've offered to comp the one Bellini I had. I spent a lot of money on a water view room for our anniversary, and they had a known power outage overnight which meant t no electricity anywhere! my cpap machine couldn't run, there were no hallway emergency lighting, and the AC was off for hours! When we spoke to the front desk they were very defensive and not hospitable or apologetic. we got no refunds, and they were making fun of everyone complaining behind the front desk. I urge anyone considering to take their business where people treat you the way you deserve. read more

I have gone to Waters Edge for decades, and yet the last two visits when they reopened, the outside patio were horrific! The first visit two weeks ago took 30 minutes to get a server over after I had to go to the hostess stand which they were so busy chitchatting they weren't even paying attention very young people not trying to be rude, but they need to learn some work ethics finally, the server came over and it took 45 minutes to get our food. The manager came over and assisted us gave us a round of drinks and I am very grateful but I'm more interested in Service than I am free drink drinks, etc.. Last week when we were there, things were 50% better but it still took some time to get our drinks and food we had to ask for a set up. We had to ask for water and napkins. I finally got up and got the napkins from the bar. I thought this was all standard practices when you are a server. read more

This review is solely for a wedding event we attended. My cousin had his wedding here and the location was absolutely beautiful, everything was organized and smooth and the catering was fantastic. Awful awful awful staff. So rude when we were paying 2k a night to stay in the nicest rooms here and they couldn't even have our room ready in time! Our family had to wait in the heat for hours before our room was ready. Even after calling and they said it would be ready 2 hours earlier. Terrible customer service. The manager couldn't even help us and walked straight to the back when confronted . On top of all that, the valet service employees were so rude about doing their job! It's like we asked too much of them to valet our cars! Very understaffed as well for valet. We had to wait 30 minutes for our car to get parked when there was no line. We went for the expensive Mothers' Day brunch....dinner was fine, the servers did their best....when it was time to pay the tab, utter chaos ensued!! We had to wait a very long time, we did ask for two bills for two ppl and two for one person. The drinks were not added correctly. We paid, then discovered one party was double charged!! We had an exceptionally long wait to get a corrected bill, which required ALL of the bills to be redone ...and very long wait times.... The manager offered us a gift card for out troubles...then came back and said that the owner declined to give us one!!! We started brunch at 11:15 and did not leave until 2, mostly as we were being held hostage due to the billing errors. Had a lovely stay in a very comfortable king room. If I could change one thing it would be better access to outlets. I had to unplug a lamp to plug my phone in. No outlets on my side of the bed - so draped the phone across the bed overnight since I was staying alone. The inn was very nice. The desk staff was very friendly. We've been staying at this resort for the holidays for the past 10 years due to its proximity to my in-laws home. While the grounds are nice the rooms need an upgrade, especially the televisions. This year I left a hair iron worth $175 in the room. I immediately called when I realized it and they could have not been more indifferent. I was told if someone turns it in they'll let me know. I called on multiple days and was told the same thing. You don't need to be a detective to figure out what happened. So beware, the employees there are thieves. If you leave something in the room, good luck you'll never see it again. read more

The hotel is lovely, front desk staff is wonderful and welcoming, five star service and gorgeous property. Where it needs MAJOR work is food quality. The Datillo Fine Italian restaurant is a beautiful space with lovely servers but the food is not good at all. For such a limited menu, each dish should be great. The pasta pomodoro is like a jar of inexpensive supermarket sauce over overcooked /reheated pasta. The rolls were very sticky stale sweet bread, inedible. We tried the bar restaurant ( (Seaview); again pretty location and lovely staff but really poor food. Medium burger was rare and tough. Mashed potatoes were worst i have ever had - think instant potatoes served ice cream scoop style, very dry and VERY salty. Beautiful place with really not good food, and the poor food is pricy. $80 for a glass of wine and 2 appetizers. $200 for not good pasta and steak dinner. I would stay here but eat elsewhere. Also for almost $500 per night, please don't charge $6 for bottles of water in the room! read more

I haven't been to Water's Edge in a long, long time. I used to stay in one of their rooms for a long holiday weekend with my family. Last night I went with a few friends to get drinks at the bar. They have the most stunning view of the beach. The view just before the sunset, when the sky is various shades of pink. We got espresso martinis. Mine was with Baileys Irish Cream. These were delightful, a bit strong, but so delicious. The last time I was here I was too young to drink. While the drinks were really tasty, they took a long time to make them. There were three bartenders, and three guests who already had their drinks. They had multiple Christmas trees all over the space. It was beautifully decorated for the holidays. read more

Generally felt as less than welcoming environment - staff seemed less focused on being hospitable. They seems busy and distracted. Started with being blocked by vehicles at check-in! The suite we stayed is spacious and provided coffee maker but no coffee/tea or water. Offered to bring coffee when requested but never arrived, etc. the overnight package was a disappointment in value for the two of us. I wanted to purchase gift cards for a friend who enjoys the resort. I went onto the Water's Edge Resort website and tried to buy them through a link on the site. It took me to a page that warned the connection wasn't secure and recommended exiting, which I did. I then emailed the resort and was advised to call their front desk. I called on Thursday 11/13/25 in the afternoon. I explained what I needed and was told to order online and to just click through the link that said it wasn't secure. I said I didn't feel comfortable doing that and I was told that I "wasn't the only one this has happened to", so they are aware of the issue. After far too much discussion, she agreed to help me. She told me she couldn't order multiple gift cards and she'd have to process each one individually. We went through the entire order - my name, address, phone number, email, credit card information. And then she informed me it would be an e-gift card. I explained again that I wanted a physical gift card. She at first said that although they were available, it wasn't possible to get them over the phone. I asked if I understood correctly that they were available only if I drove the two hours to buy them in person. She then said she could help me, but we'd have to start all over and then immediately put me on hold. I sat there for a few minutes, absolutely stunned at how I had been treated. I hung up and cried. I was angry and so frustrated. I then sent an email outlining my experience. No response. Nothing. Extremely disappointed. read more

I've been here a couple times now and have had some different experiences. Spa Services: Their spa is great and relaxing for the most part, and I would recommend it. The spa staff are all very professional and friendly. It seems like the relaxing aspect kind of gets away from them a little bit sometimes. My small group and I were the only ones sitting in the "relaxation room" and then all of a sudden within 10 minutes, it was completely packed with people waiting along with us. People pretty much sitting on top of each other. The relaxed ambiance quickly went away. I just feel like they shouldn't jam pack appointments like that, because there are people who do want to spend some extra time in the "relaxation room" before and after their spa services. It's hard to relax when there's people almost sitting on top of you and you hear multiple conversations going on. I had a facial, and the service itself was relaxing and felt great. The only thing I didn't like was that the tech didn't inform me there would be hot steam blowing on my face for 10 minutes straight to the point where I couldn't breathe. I also have to say I was disappointed in the results of the facial. My skin felt great initially, but it didn't last long. I thought my skin would be nice and hydrated for the rest of the day. Within like 2 hours, my skin started getting dry and rough. I expected my results to last the rest of the day at the very least. I literally couldn't wait to get home and wash my face. Most days my normal skincare (a simple cleanser & moisturizer) keeps me hydrated the whole day... So the fact that results from an expensive spa facial didn't last more than 2 hours is concerning. Now for food: If you sit at their restaurant or bar and eat from the menu, the food is good. The sitting areas are all very nice and you can see a view of the beach. I would not recommend their Sunday brunch though. It was like a zoo in there, and it doesn't help that the dining area is connected to the lobby. There's no organization of lines. People are flying all over the place, and just cut in and out of wherever. The restaurant staff seemed to be rushing everywhere. I can't even count how many times I heard waiters and bartenders dropping silverware, plates, cups on the ground... and it echoes SO loud in there. It's very distracting and hard to enjoy your time dining somewhere like that. I was also kind of turned off when I saw that we were choosing from a buffet of food that had been sitting out for hours. Just very gross to see stuff like meats and cheeses that are supposed to be fresh. Their brunch runs from 9am to 2:30pm. We went at like noon-ish, and all the food was still sitting there from when they put it out at 9am. Just something about the whole thing gave me the ick. You don't know if someone touched something before you picked it up, or took something and put it back... especially with a lot of kids around. Kids touch everything. There was just no one really monitoring the food at all. The dessert was also just like 3 different kind of cakes, but literally bite sized portions. To have all different kinds of food, but not a variety of desserts/normal portioned desserts? That seemed weird and cheap to me. I also didn't like the fact that it was only 12pm-ish and several food items were already almost gone. And I didn't see them replace any food when it was running low or ran out. So basically they don't accommodate all their guests by not having enough of everything for everyone. I've been to buffet brunches elsewhere and they've always swapped out food when it was running low or ran out. One thing positive about brunch is that they do have a carving station and some stations where you could create your own (pastas, omelets, crepes). The stations actually looked very good and I would suggest eating from there because they make it right in front of you. The stations looked much fresher than the rest of the food they had. Wow. What the hell happened to this place?! Haven't been in a year or two was there this past Labor Day Weekend 2025. Just stopped in for some lunch at bar area. First off I was being stared at by what I'm assuming is a manager? Guy in a suit with longer grey hair that looked like a guy you would see at a shady casino poker table. I ordered chicken nachos and a burger. The nachos tasted like packaged chicken I could make at home and the burger was so overcooked (I asked for medium) that I only ate half of it. It cost be almost $45! Bartender took forever to get my bill. Then I'm in the hall walking to bathroom and same creepy guy in the suit follows me and asks where I'm headed! I said is the bathroom off limits and he walked away. I will NEVER go back here. It's massively overrated and run down. Also if owner is reading this I would seriously look into who you hire. Had some drinks and a couple appetizers with friends on Saturday. The sodas and drinks were filled to the top with ice. The appetizers were embarrassing, and yes they were expensive, which I expected, but they were also very cheap on the portions. The Nachos had one small plop of cheese and a half a teaspoon of diced tomatoes. Our friends attended the show and buffet for $90 a person, from 6-8pm, and told us the food was ice cold. This is a very nice and comfortable hotel. My room was huge and very clean. I liked having a kitchen with a mini-fridge, sink, and microwave. The bathroom was spacious, very hot water, and plenty of towels. Comfortable, clean bed. The hotel is on the older side, so some things are run down here or there, but overall, it's comfortable, beautifully landscaped, and has a gorgeous view of the ocean. There's a cafe, bar, and restaurant inside, and a pizza place in the parking lot. The restaurant's food was OK. I walked down to the beach, and it was cute. Tons of families in the pool and running around the grounds. When you go outside, it's hard to come back into the main hotel. There is a nice concierge who opens the doors for you, but it would be nice to have more ways to go in and out. The fitness center was spacious and nice. Was here for a conference and it was a very nice space for that purpose. People were very considerate. read more

My family and I went to the Waters Edge restaurant for brunch on Mother's Day. It was a lovely experience with our server, Maria being exceptionally friendly and accommodating. When we got our bill for a party of 5 brunch it was well over $500 dollars. Shocker. When I called to make the reservations I was quoted the brunch was $49. There was no prices anywhere posted about the $90 per person brunch,( I assume the price was that high because of the holiday)! We all felt the price was deceiving and weren't aware of the price. We go out frequently to restaurants and some of us work in the business. The kicker was we had 2 brunch gift cards and they only applied the $49 twice for the gift cards, instead of the $180 we paid for two brunches. The atmosphere was so pleasant and the staff so attentive. We just felt we should have known about the $90 price per person ahead of time. We went to the Water's Edge New Year's Eve celebration last weekend. The tickets included open bar and party access, we got a room for the night, and a buffet brunch the next day on New Year's. The rooms were fairly standard. The waterfront view was absolutely stunning and it is clear why so many people have had weddings and events here. For the NYE dinner there were multiple choices for the main dishes including sea bass, filet mignon, chicken, and vegetable risotto. I would say that the foods, particularly the entrees, were nothing great, but this is to be expected as they sold out the event and there were plenty of mouths to feed. They had multiple open-bar areas which was great because this significantly reduced wait times and lines. The two live bands were great. I think the ballon drop could have gone better as they got stuck on the netting, but it was still so fun to dance the night away. I would say that the brunch had a very good selection and it saw quite nice after a late night out. Despite a few minor flaws, the event provided us with an enjoyable evening filled with good food, great music, and a festive ambiance. Man- the restaurant and food used to be awesome. Just attended a training and the lunch was...well...not like it used to be. The taste of most of the food was fine. But there was no consistency. I got a certain size braised short rib. At my table alone there were significantly bigger and significantly smaller pieces. One plate had two full size pieces! The chicken was no better with one person having a gigantic juicy breast and another had a piece less than 1/3 (NOT exaggerating) the size and thin and dry. The worst BY FAR was the lychee cake. Holy cow the chef must've spilled the rose water or whatever floral flavoring because it was like eating a combination of perfume and dish soap. The waitstaff noticed that AT MOST there were only two bites out of any piece from around 50 participants. There is no way someone should not have noticed in the kitchen that this was awful and it was all going back in. No visit from the chef. I do not recommend it. Came here for an overnight for my birthday. We enjoyed ourselves but I'm not sure I'd stay here again. It's a beautiful establishment and it's kept very clean. The view is stunning from the inside. The beach is very very small and shallow. The pool had a ton of sand in it. Dinner was okay, we're gluten free and the options are pretty limited. We were able to order virgin drinks so that was nice. There was a band and they were pretty fun- played a lot of jams from the 90s and aughts. Breakfast was not good. The view made up for it a little bit but the food was frankly gross. It was a buffet and I've had better buffet breakfasts at best westerns. The fruit was warm, the bacon was sopping in grease and the sausages were luke warm. I was disappointed and left hungry. If they updated their buffet and had more gluten free options, I'd give it another shot. read more

The only reason I gave it a 2 instead of 1 is because the views are stunning ! My biggest complaint is OMG the noise !!! You CANT sleep ! Beware if there is an any event going on because doors will be slamming , people will be screaming ...all at 11pm . I called the front desk to file a complaint twice. Although it settled down after a while , this continued until 1-2am and if your on the bottom floor you can hear everyone walking above you . Just awful ! We also ate at DATILLO restaurant : food is a 5-6/10. We had the seafood risotto and it was mainly risotto with minimal seafood and my sons cheeseburger was like rubber. I will say the crab cake was good and so was my merlot. Service was subpar ; typically with "fine dining" I don't have to pour my own wine from the bottle and ask for table bread. I have lived in Connecticut for 40 years and have never stayed at this resort . Stayed 3 nights in a beautiful room with sitting area . We chose midweek because according to other reviews, the weekends tend to be loud and somewhat" rowdy" due to special parties and weddings. The place is beautifully appointed with unique furnishings and really has an old school upscale vibe. Loved the tranquil beach with the helpful staff to put an umbrella up and free beach towels. Every part of the property was spotless . My only gripe is with the restaurants. First, there is only one option for breakfast, so it naturally was crowded, servers seemed inexperienced and over worked. There are two indoor dining areas for dinner and they basically have the same menu, with the Italian one having more options, but many items are repeated times n both menus. There is a coffee stand that has some muffins and sweet breads, but it would have been nice to have a grab and go selection of breakfast sandwiches or at least bagels. Plus the person at the coffee stand also mans the gift shop across from it, so the worker was bopping back and forth, not very customer friendly. Overall we really enjoyed our stay. We scouted out some other dining options for our next visit. Very much enjoyed the property. read more

We did the Valentine's Day dinner three couples spent over $1000 the worst service and the worst food I've ever had. I've never paid more money for poor quality and service. One of our couples valet parked , when they tried to leave, the hotel couldn't find their car for 45 minutes. Also service in the restaurant was poor, we sat at 7:30. It literally took them an hour Between courses .. terrible experience. I got a half a lobster that was so dried out. It was lobster jerky. I've loved Water's Edge every time I've gone with either my family or with my significant other. The resort is gorgeous! We opted for a spa day today and was able to use the indoor pool, jacuzzi, and sauna the day of our treatment. It was very nice having access to everything. It was a bit crowded, and many of the young children and teens were not accompanied by an adult. I was kicked by one in the pool and had one mocked my partner when he asked them not to splash us. I wished there were people checking-in to avoid situations like this. Nonetheless, it was still a great experience. We has a couples massage. I've had Lucy before as a massage therapist and she is MAGIC. I cannot wait to come back to experience the lovely spa! read more

Biggest negative is the very odd flushing toilet in room 204. Next biggest negative is the really loud hvac. Sort of like a boat engine is running somewhere. Biggest positives are the amazing staff and how clean and inviting it is. The spa is tremendous and the building and grounds are incredible. Can't wait to return! read more
