So cool to see a place solely dedicated to grilled cheese! We tried the Usual Suspect ($8.25) Turkey Meltdown ($8.75), cup of french onion soup ($3.25) and cup of tomato soup ($3.25). Everything was delicious! The only thing is that it tastes like something you can make at home. For the taste and the portion, the price was a tad high. But it's also what we ordered too- we ordered very basic grilled cheeses. For the grilled cheese to be worth the price, perhaps I would try a more gourmet flavor next time! They have many flavors and they all look amazing. The tomato soup was way better than the french onion and paired perfectly with the grilled cheese. We called our order on the phone for curbside pickup. After many pickup orders, we learned to check before we leave any restaurant. It was slightly frustrating that when we asked if the soup was there, the employee said, "Um. It should be. Can you check it?" So, you just give orders out without checking? And of course, it was missing. We were so glad we checked because nothing is more frustrating than driving home looking forward to a meal and missing not only one but two items that you paid for. He apologized and went back in to get the soup. I understand mix-ups as everyone has off-days and the service does get crazy busy so we didn't make too big a deal of it but perhaps checking before giving orders to customers would prevent this problem. Super impressed! Absolutely delicious grilled cheese with really fun cheese-related comic book-style decor. There were a variety of different fun grilled cheeses, but I just opted for a regular ole plain grilled cheese. I wasn't super hungry, so I actually got a kids' grilled cheese, which is half a grilled cheese plus a small cup of tomato soup to dip into. There is also an adult version of this where you can get a side of tomato soup just for dipping. I absolutely love this concept because I have always preferred a smaller portion of tomato soup with the sole purpose of dipping, not eating on its own. The employees were super friendly, professional, and efficient. If you love grilled cheese, this is a must-eat! If I lived in Naperville, I would definitely come here often. FYI the inside is a little small, so isn't great for accommodating groups. Trying to score a close parking spot isn't quite easy too but luckily for us we managed to find one right across the street. We arrived around 2pm and the restaurant was packed. You place your order at the counter and then find a table and wait for your name/order to be called when ready. There are no servers who come to take your order at the tables. There weren't many tables but lots of stools. Patrons know to eat and go and not lounge there for hours. If you wait about 10-15 minutes you should be able to find a table at the rush hour. Now the hard part was trying to decide what to order. I wanted to taste everything. But decided to go with "The Usual Suspect" - crispy bacon, tomato, american, swiss, havarti on Texas toast. Wow this was so good. Nice buttery toast grilled perfectly golden. The cheese melted nicely with crisp bacon bits and tomato. We also got a cup of tomato soup which was very delicious. I also ordered a side of Mac n Cheese and it was very good. With a side of chips and 2 drinks we spent just a little over $24. We shared the sandwich because we weren't that hungry. Prices aren't cheap but it's downtown Naperville. Sandwiches range $7.95 - $9 and you can also build your own grilled cheese which is great. I wish they didn't limit the half a sandwich and soup to their preselected sandwiches, if they could also add a option where you could do a half sandwich with any two toppings that would be great as I just wanted a half turkey and cheese with a cup of tomato. However maybe they would have done it if I had asked. The tomato soup was just ok to me. I wanted a little more flavor. One of the employees was checking on everyone and offered me another soup, I sampled the ramen but it just wasn't for me either (if you don't like soy, it won't be for you). I'm in Naperville every once in a while because I have family and some friends around here and it's usually been one chain restaurant after another. So, it was nice to see that downtown Naperville has some mom and pop shops coming up. Everdine's is a one of those places, serving grilled cheese sandwiches and soup. Not the first to do it but Everdine's does it well. They definitely try to make it cute and name their sandwiches. I got the Spicy Smokey Cheesy Bacon, some of the names are straight forward and a bowl of the tomato soup. My friend got the regular grilled cheese (The All-American) and a dipper. The dipper is a great idea, because sometimes all you want is just enough soup to wet the sandwich down. I didn't regret my choice though because a bowl of soup in cold weather hits the spot. My sandwich was ok, not as spicy as I would have liked but pretty well made, grilled cheeses can be pretty greasy sometimes and this one didn't leave me feeling like a gut bomb. I will say that the only real sticking point is the price is a little high for a soup and sandwich. read more

We arrived around 1:30pm on a Saturday and still, there were few seating options. Don't let this deter you! Even if you have to eat standing, Everdine's Grilled Cheese is worth a visit! Order at the counter: as I stood there, indecisive and trying to take in their full menu, the lady behind the counter helped me out with options. I told her I was debating between the sloppy mac or usual suspect. She said between the two, go for the sloppy mac because the usual suspect is playing it safe and why be boring? I took her advice and I went for it: SLOPPY MACK: homemade sloppy joan combined with eddie mack & cheese, american cheese on texas toast. I am so, so glad I listened to her! The sloppy part of the sandwich is really, really good - seasoned well and with an added crunch from tiny peppers and onions - not your typical sloppy joe. The mac and cheese is creamy and perfectly balances the sandwich. The whole thing was so delicious!! I paired my meal with a bottled tea - there's no fountain drinks here but their selection of packaged drinks will more than satisfy your thirst. I highly recommend going for something you've not tried before. During our meal, the same lady from the counter even stopped by to check on us even though they were still very busy. Can't go wrong with this absolute gem in Downtown Naperville! Their grilled cheese sandwiches are absolute gooey goodness! The bread itself they use is a special butter flavored bread called Texas Toast. These breads smells really good and after putting it on the grill, it was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and simply addictive! Went to Everdine's after a friend recommended it and it definitely lived up to the hype. I got the Alpacheeso sandwich, and I really liked it. The Texas toast was good, and so was the ham. Tomato soup was pretty good, but not my favorite ever, which is the only reason I gave Everdine's four stars instead of five. (I usually prefer creamier tomato soup, but if that's not your preference, you'll enjoy this one!) The vibe inside of Everdine's is great; good music plays in the background, and it's a very family friendly spot. Customers' ages ranged from young children to older adults, so it's a great place for everyone. I recommend this spot to anyone who loves grilled cheese or just wants to try something new! read more
