Call in your order, it takes a while for your food to be made. It's an all vegetarian food truck. Everything is good, but some items are better than others - depending on your taste. I prefer the saucy aloo mater and the super flavorful samosas. My husband likes the saag. I think it is only ok but it taste better than all the saags I've ever tasted. I like to thrown in a new dish to try but I always stick to my aloo mater. There isn't a place for you to sit and eat. So take it home or eat it in the car. I am open to recommendations!!! read more

Tried @spiceindianveg tonight and it was delicious! I tried the Aloo Kulcha, Garlic Naan, Samosas, Dal Makhani, and Vindaloo. I loved every bite. You have to try this wonderful little food truck in the Sunny's parking lot off highway 6. You won't regret it. We came at around 7:30 on a Saturday evening. I am blown away by this new hidden gem, The Spice Indian Food Truck, tucked away in that little shopping center in front of the Hearthstone subdivision next to the Sunny's Food store on 529 between hwy 6 and Eldridge. Let me just start out by saying that these guys are going places and I can already see that they're gonna end up blowing up into multiple restaurants and/or food trucks all around town. Also, I'm vegan. So finding a place like this so close to where I live that caters strictly to vegan and vegetarian Indian food is wonderful. It's not the easiest thing to do to find good food around here that's vegan when you want to eat out or don't have time to cook. Mind you, even if you're not vegan or vegetarian, I swear, you will love this food. Trust me. The quality of the food is outstanding. I mean SO delicious. Don't think just because you're picking food up from a food truck that it's not going to be up to par as certain Indian cuisine restaurants around town like India's or Sitar. This place actually surpasses those high rated joints. Everything here is made fresh to order. The taste that goes into this cooking is unbelievable. The first time I came here I ordered the samosas, pakora, vegetable kofta, and tamarind rice. Everything was great but I want to make a special shout out to the samosas because they're not just the best I've ever had, but they are different than anywhere else I've ever had them at. Not sure what exactly the secret ingredient is. I think it's Kala Namak but I'm not sure. Also they are not all dry like most places make them. These aren't MOIST per se but they have a certain "non dryness" to them that make them so much better. If that makes any sense. Whatever the case is, they are the bomb so make sure you get some when you go here. As if this wasn't enough greatness about this place, wait til you see the prices. OMG. Where in Gods name are you going to find samosas for 2 for $3.50?! But that's not it, all the main dishes that come with rice as well are 9.99-11.99!!! It's crazy. I hope they stay at these prices because this is another thing that makes this place stand out from the rest. So we've covered most of the things that make this place so special and my new go to place for Indian food, from it being a vegan/vegetarian restaurant to the quality of food to the trademark samosas to the outstanding low prices...what else? Oh, GREAT friendly service, a very clean, immaculate food truck, and excellent amounts of food (trust me, you won't finish it all in one sitting and if you do, you will be very full). Wow this was some of the best Indian food I've had in Houston! Since it was my first time trying it, and food trucks can be flakey, I called to check on their hours and whatnot. The lady who answered the phone was so nice and helpful. She told me their exact location and sent me a picture of the menu so I could look it over and then text in the order. I loved the convenience of texting in the order! The garlic naan was perfection. It was warm, soft, and the perfect thickness. It had great garlic flavor, and honestly it was hard to cut myself off from eating the entire order myself. The samosas were great! You get two in an order and the chutney and sauce were a good complement to the potato and pea filling. I had the aloo mattar, which was a tomato based sauce with potatoes and peas. It was delicious! I had medium but it wasn't too spicy. It came with rice, of course. The lady at the food truck was SO nice and gave us a cup of the gajjar halwa to try. I had to look up what it was since I'd never had it before, but it was a soft / crumbly carrot dessert that wasn't too sweet. I would recommend this truck for great food and friendly service, 100%. Can't believe no one has reviewed this great food truck yet. I am so full of delightful pakhoras and samosas, killer garlic naan, and astounding rice pudding that I think I might pop. Oh yeah, and the paneer tikka masala ROCKS. The husband & wife team that run this truck are so kind and friendly that you'll want to come back again and again if only to say hi. It suddenly occurs to me that the reason no one is noising this around (except on NextDoor) is because they're trying to keep it under wraps. My favorites are the Malai Kofta, the Vindaloo and the Samosas. I'm sad they don't have the Bhindi Masala anymore, however, the Mixed Vegetable Vindaloo makes up for it. One of my friends told me about this food truck .. all great and positive reviews and he was raving about the food and the person who owns (and cooks) !! I decided to give it a try but by the time we reached the place it was 10 mins to closing time and we had finished an early dinner at home . But curiosity got the better of me . Came for a light snack , ended up ordering Shahi paneer and bullet naan . Planned to take away the remaining curry but was difficult to resist ourselves so went ahead and ordered a garlic naan . They had closed the kitchen but got us a hot hot garlic naan , heavenly on a windy night ... outdoors !! This is the first time ever in my whole life the rice served complimentary was cooked to perfection and fluffy !! Definitely going back again ! I absolutely love this food truck. You can call in orders or order in person and it never takes too long for me. The food is sooooo good. My go-to order is the kofta curry or chana masala. Both come with rice. The veggie samosas and garlic naan are both delicious as well. They also always give very good serving size of everything. The family that owns and runs it are the sweetest people ever, some of the best customer service I've experienced and I love supporting their business. The food truck is somewhat close to me so I go there anytime I'm craving Indian food, but even if I moved farther I would make the drive for them. I've worked in one of Houston's top ranked Indian restaurants (James Beard nominated chef) and I can honestly say that the food at Spice Indian is on par. This is my FAVORITE Indian cuisine ever! I go 1-2x a week and get the vegetable briyani, samosas, and garlic naan (add jalepeno). They are family ran and are so friendly! I love how quick the order time is, I usually call ahead and it's ready in 10-15. Also, bc the food is always being cooked by one chef, it is consistent in flavor and spice 100% of the time. This is a great place to get vegetarian food! There are many options and the owner is very good at making sure you are getting exactly what you want. The menu is full of many traditional Indian dishes. The past two times I have gone I've had customized orders. The food truck is very clean and there are picnic tables where you and sit and eat.
