Everest kitchen is a hidden gem. I've tried many dishes on their menu, all with vibrant flavors and an element of simple perfection. The vegan options are plentiful and crave-worthy, appreciated by herbivores and omnivores alike. If you eat there for dinner they give you complimentary Daal Lentil Soup, which is one the best soups I've ever had. The Veggie Jhol Momos are my favorite thing on the menu. The staff are all lovely people and the service is quick. Not to mention, the restaurant is cute and cozy inside and when the weather is nice, I love having the option to sit outside. They also get bonus points for having such nice plating! My partner and I will continue to return here since we crave their food so often. read more

Everything was good! The Lamb Masala I got spicy , and I love some spice. It wasn't unbearable by any means, but enough to satisfy me. The cheese Naan was BOMBBBBBBBB. I was craving momo so I came to one of my favorite places, Everest Kitchen! Unfortunately they were sold out of Buffalo Momo for the night but the Chicken Momo was delicious, as always. I also ordered the Lamb Curry and Pan Fried Lamb. The service here is always impeccable. I love how kind and considerate the waitresses are. You also get a great deal of food with an entree--for example, both lamb dishes came with a hearty bowl of rice and lentil soup. Unlike some places, the spice levels are pretty accurate, too. My Pan Fried Lamb truly was mild while the Lamb Curry had a bit of medium heat. Parking is easy and free because the restaurant is on Solano. I highly recommend coming here and then stopping by another place for dessert! It's perfect for a date night. read more

Ever since I've learned about momos I've been dying to try them! After stumbling upon Everest Kitchen on Yelp and reading the reviews I knew I had to come here to try their momos. I ordered the Chicken Momos and my Dad got their Chicken Tikka Masala Thali (lunch special). Let me tell you, one bite of these momos and you won't be able to get them out of your head. The Chicken Momos were plump, juicy, and an explosion of flavors! It had all of the right seasonings and spices and had a slight kick to it. There was a good chicken to dumpling ratio and the sauce it came with paired nicely. There were eight pieces that came with the order which is enough to share or to have as an entrée. The hospitality at Everest Kitchen was spot on. The workers were all friendly and service was fast. They offer seating both indoors and outdoors and parking is street only. read more

This was our first time trying this place. We ordered for pickup and they packed the food with care. They even wrote a thank you note on the front of the bag. We ordered pork momo that came with sauce, chicken saag, goat curry and rice. The food was delicious! It reminded me of true homestyle cooking. The temptation here, at lunch, is to order the Thali. At $14 (Cauli Channa Thali; many other Thali offered) it's well-priced and, as the accompanying picture reveals, a whole lot of food. The problem is that much of that food is what I'd call filler; it might be traditional for a Thali but it's not what I come to Everest Kitchen to consume. In the future, I'd focus my order more narrowly: Entree, choice of starch, raita, and chutney. The Dall, salad, rice, papadam, and naan which are all also included with the Thali seemed like overkill, a distraction that somehow lessened my enjoyment of the overall meal. Another place to focus your attention here is the appetizers. Vegetable Samosas ($6) and Vegetable Pakoras ($5) were prepared with expertise and tasted of it. They were excellent shareable choices for my 3-person party. Everest Kitchen sits on a stretch of Solano Avenue that's crawling with attractive lunch and dinner choices. For this reason, and because I wasn't a huge fan of the Thali, I'm unlikely to head here again but if someone else wanted Indian fare I'd tell them of Everest Kitchen and suggest they focus on entrees and appetizers. read more

Foraging for great eats in the urban jungle can be a daunting task. A plethora of flavors and textures to please the most discriminating taste buds, especially when in an area full of good and great restaurants. We were craving lunch and SHE was craving Chile Rellenos. Looking through Yelp, we found numerous choices but they weren't where we were and we wanted to EAT! Look at that group of people dining in a parklet! It's nearly full. They look happy. What is that place? The sign said Everest. The ratings said 4.5 stars with 258 reviews. And the gods were smiling upon us, 1/2-block away? A parkng space with a 90-minute limit. We strolled down the street and walked into the dining room. There were tables both indoor and outdoor available. Plenty of space between tables so we opted for indoor. Menus and glasses of Ice Water were presented. We spent a couple of minutes looking the menus over. We decided to have Thali Lunches. Thali is the HIndi word for plate. In this case, it was metal cafeteria style trays with dividers that kept everything separate. Each Thali came with your choice of entree, Rice (white or brown), Salad, Daal (Lentil Soup) Naan (Bread), Raita (Yogurt Bases sauce with vegetables), Napalelse Chutney and Papad (thin Indian wafer). We also ordered Chicken Momo's for an extra appetizer and Mango Lassi's to drink. Everything we had was on point! The Mango Lassi's were dangerously good. It would have been easy to drink down a pitcher of those. I could have easily made a meal out of several orders of Momo's. They were so delicious and juicy! The dipping sauce had just a bit of heat in it. Momo's are steamed dumplings and the ones from Everest rock! We loved our entrees. My Saag Paneer and her Goat Curry hit the spot with assistance from all the other yumminess on our Thali's. The Daal was so warm and comforting. One of the servers saw me spooning it into my mouth and came over and told me she was going to teach me how to eat it "our way". That was to move the Papad and Naan out of the way and spoon the other items over the rice. As appreciative as I was to have her share her cultural method with us, I was happier tasting the Daal on its own. It certainly made me think of how great it would be to have on a cold winter morning. I did eat my Saag Paneer on the same spoon as my rice but I do that anyway. Dipped my Naan into the Raita. The Papad, Chutney and Salad, I simply ate individually. I stopped when my Thali was completely cleaned off so it worked for me! I highly recommend coming here if you haven't already. One of my favorite things to do when in an Uber or Lyft is to ask the driver about his/her favorite places to eat. On a recent ride, my driver was from Nepal, so we got on to the topic of momos. I learned that different restaurants specialize in different things, and if you want the best momos in the Bay, you go to Everest Kitchen. I always thought the best momos were at Nomad, but I was wrong. Although Nomad still has excellent momos and the best chili sauce around, Everest Kitchen makes momos that are sooooooo good you don't even need a dipping sauce. I recently ordered chicken, Buffalo, and veggie momos via Uber Eats, and although all momos were solid, the chicken momos were UNBELIEVABLE. This will be my go-to momo place from now on. We ordered veg momo to go. The restaurant was very accommodating when we asked for extra chutney and gravy (jhol) and provided additional portions without any issues. They packed the order well. Momo were delicious and we really enjoyed it. One notable thing was skin of the momo which was not too thick which if thick can take away from the taste and makes it chewy. This might be my new favorite Nepalese restaurant in the Bay. Had an absolutely delicious experience. Food: It seemed like every dish I ate was fantastic. If I had to highlight one, it would have to be the tandoori chicken. It was absolutely delicious. It was incredibly juicy, while having a tantalizing amount of crispness on the outside. The chicken tikka masala was flavorful and had a tasty combination of spices. At medium spiciness, it had the right kick (you can go milder or spicier). The sauce was creamy, balanced, and tasty. The cauli chana was also tasty and flavorful. The samosa and garlic naan were great. Frankly, all the dishes seemed to be executed really well, and all the flavors were spot on. Staff and atmosphere: We came for lunch, and there were groups and at least one solo diner reading a book. You can tell it's a local favorite. There was a lively but pleasant vibe. The interior was tasteful, casual, and spacious, and the windows and door opened to the outside, letting in fresh air and light. They offer outdoor seating, too, which looked pretty nice. I might try outdoor seating next time! The staff was extremely warm and friendly. The actually apologized for the wait due to shorthandedness--but I didn't notice at all! I have been coming here for a number of years now. Everest is one of the highlights of Solano, and I have always loved their food (momos, samosa chaat and sekuwa are among my favorites). Everest's staff and owners are also amazing and have always taken care of me, and I think that's how they aim to treat all their customers. I wanted to use this review to to put in a special word for their new happy hour. It's a very special addition to the neighborhood: the cocktails are great and well-conceived. The food options on the happy hour include some very tasty and unique specialties (potato wedges, peanuts, pork ribs are among the highlights). Stop 3 on our progressive dinner on Solano Ave. - ordered buffalo chili momo, a mango lassi, and naan. The Saturday night crowd overwhelmed the single server/host, who could not take our order for about thirty minutes since she had to attend to the phone, takeout orders, etc. I loved the naan, and may return to try the Indian food, but our momos arrived lukewarm, and since they were fried and then sauced, the delay in getting them on the table detracted from the overall experience. read more

If you haven't tried momos, they're Nepalese dumplings. What makes them different is their filling. Traditionally, they're made with a buffalo filling; however, here can choose between buffalo, chicken or veggies. The spices make it different as well, usually with some South Asian aromatics and herbs, ginger, garlic, cumin, coriander, etc. I tried the steamed version but also the chili momo, which come steamed then fried. It's served with sort of tomatoey chutney dipping sauce. We liked the original version more, as the chili version was a bit too sauced for me. I only went for Happy Hour, but it was GREAT! I think it runs from 3-6 every day other than Tuesday when they are closed. They have an excellent selection of beers on tap, which are very reasonably priced ($7 during Happy Hour), so I had a beer and the Samosa. Someone complained the Samosa was mushy inside. I have only had Samosa about five times in my life, but I thought it was delicious. There were distinct chunks of potato in it, but I do grant that the rest of was mushy. I really don't know how it is supposed to be, but I liked it a lot. And, service was EXCELLENT. I would suggest people try it for at least Happy Hour. I went several times to the new wine bar (w/ draft beer, too) down the street a block, but, for reasons I will not go into, this will be my new go-to for a late afternoon beer and nosh. read more

We ordered a pretty standard dinner - steamed chicken momos, chicken tikka masala, veggie kofta masala and garlic naan. The naan was super delicious - a nice combination of crispy and soft while the garlic flavor wasn't too overpowering. The sauce accompanying the momos were super delicious - I want to put that sauce on everything! When most of the Nepalese restaurant's food are either hit or miss, Everest Kitchen's Food here has been consistently great and I would rate them among the best in the bay area when it comes to Nepalese restaurant. The ambience is very soothing and staff are polite, respectful and courteous as well. Never had a bad experience either with food or service. However, But, now here comes the question to the owner of the restaurant ( correct me if I am wrong ) all this time I have visited your restaurant I always see staff bring a bowl of lentil to specific ethnicity ( "White" If I want to be precise ) of customers and I guess that's a courtesy but I assume you do not provide that service to Nepalese who comes there. Is this just my perception or I got this totally wrong ? Again its very petty thing and my aim here is not to degrade your reputation. Today Terry and I met here for lunch. Lori was unable to join us because she wasn't feeling well. The restaurant was Terry's choice. I lucked into a parking spot almost directly in front. I walked in to find Terry already seated. The restaurant had been rearranged since I last was there and I realized it had probably been since the start of the pandemic, almost three years. Sanjo greeted me and asked after Alan. I was surprised and touched that he remembered us so well. They now have thali lunch specials on the menu, which I don't remember from before. I didn't ask whether this was new, but I love the variety that thalis afford. I ordered a thali w/ lamb saag as the main. I had a choice of white rice or brown and opted for brown. The plate included raita, a small green salad w/ sliced cucumbers, carrots and a halved plum tomato. There was also half a papadum, half a naan and a tasty, green vegetable I couldn't identify. All that was $15 or $16, quite a bargain. Terry ordered chicken tikka masala as her main. We both ordered chai, which was as wonderful as ever. It was refilled at our request.
