We haven't been here for a long time and I'm not sure why not! They have a nice selection of vegetarian and vegan curries which was what I was in the mood for. But they also have chicken, lamb and seafood curries, and tandoori entrees. Our sever was very sweet and helpful and made some recommendations. We ordered the vegetable biryani (a large dish!) and Tibetan vegetable curry. Both were very flavor-able and really good. We were also served a cup of Daal soup and roti with a couple of sauces as part of our meal. All in all, we enjoyed a hearty tasty meal. And we won't wait so long to return! read more

I am sad. This used to be my very favorite Indian Restaurant. I haven't been in in a year or so.... So much has changed, and not for the better! The wonderful man who used to greet and serve me is not here, the flowers are gone from the tables... I ordered the Thali that I have always ordered at lunch time. It took quite a while to arrive, and even the look of it was different. No red lentil dal, today it was black lentils. It was ok. The food was not very hot, and everything tasted very sweet! It was certainly fine, and I ate it, but not the meal I was looking forward to! I don't get to Petaluma often anymore with time to spare, but I don't think I will be back read more

Though I see many reviews on pick up orders, ordering in is alot worse. They prioritize the pick up orders or doordash/uber from the reviews. I get it you don't want people to wait and food to get cold. But it would be more efficient to serve the walk ins a lot faster so they would have a great experience overall. Almost waited an hour for food , service was nice but could tell they were overwhelmed. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the music was swell. read more

I really wanted to like this place. Not really good, not really bad, but not quite good enough to come back. I will say lunch specials are pretty good for the value, portion size, and taste- but unfortunately that's about it. Ordering to go is a terrible idea as the portion sizes are very very small for very high prices. read more

One our favorite restaurants in the Bay Area! Brilliant flavors and textures, outstanding and compassionate service, and a diverse menu that keeps us coming back for more. My wife and I are vegans and the staff is extremely accommodating and helpful as we navigate the menu choices. A fun addition of tofu to some traditional Indian dishes is a welcome surprise. Horrible HORRIBLE absolutely horrible experience picking up orders from here. The orders are never ready for pick up. You have to wait at least 20 minutes or more. Tell me, what is the point for pick up when you have to wait a long time? The last time I came to pick up, they ignored me. They need 1 staff members just focusing on the delivery pick up orders. Then have another cook doing the out orders. It's ridiculous. It's like a circus in there. read more

I came here after reading the Yelp reviews. After having lunch today, I'll definitely be back which is my gauge on a decent restaurant. I've been to Yeti and discovered as far as Tikka Misala goes, Everest far surpasses the food I've had there. I had their chicken Tikka Misala lunch. It was delicious and I had enough left to take home for later. Their Naan bread is top notch as well.great service and a good value for what I paid. read more

This was my first time here and I ordered togo. The menu has a wonderful selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes. I was offered water while reading the menu, the server asked if it was my first time there, and was very helpful with my selection of items. I ordered the veg momo's, they come in 6 or 10 dumplings. Hand made, light fluffy, little steamed pillows of heaven. They had a good amount of filling which was very flavorful. They come with your choice of mild or hot. I told my server I wanted very hot and she recommended the habanero sauce ( not listed.) She even let me sample the sauce to make sure it was hot enough. Delicious. Flavorful, creamy consistency. Very unique from hot sauces I have had at other restaurants. I ordered the Alu Cauliflower (vegan.) Cauliflower and potatoes cooked to perfection simmered in a tomato and herb sauce. I asked for spicy and that's what I got. It comes with your choice of rice or plan naan. I opted for the $1 upcharge and ordered the garlic basil naan. Totally worth the up charge. Very fresh ingredients and tasted amazing! This visit was part of our family Sunday restaurant adventure. After reading some reviews there were complaints about how long service took. Well, personally, I'd rather have a fresh meal than food that's merely reheated. Having said that, I didn't feel the service took too long. The service was friendly and very professional. We were treated very well and not rushed at all. The food tasted amazing and we enjoyed all the flavors that accompany India cuisine. Very pleased and highly recommend. read more

My mother & I stopped by here for lunch and it. was. AMAZING. I've been here only once before & it was my mom's first time eating there today. The waitress seated us right away & took our orders once we were ready. The wait time for the food wasn't that long & once the food got to us it looked as delicious as it tasted. My mom ordered one of the lamb curries & I ordered the mushroom curry. We also did a side order of their garlic and butter naan & I had their special Everest tea. This place is Amazingggggggggggggg! Had the chicken tikka masala and it was delicious. The salmon is great too. The momos are delicious as well. They truly put effort in making their food. The interior is cute, they have a fine dining vive going on. Its not overly formal but its cute. The staff are super friendly and they have excellent customer service. I was so pleased to see that there were several vegan options on the menu at Everest, all clearly marked. Our server also said that other vegetarian entrees could be prepared as vegan as well. So I got to create my own vegan dish. I loved the variety of vegetables, and the sauce was excellent! Wish I could get the recipe! Our server was very helpful and attentive and we were able to have an extended lunch out on the patio. read more

Ah-mazing! Ordered a dinner spread through the Petaluma Food Taxi from this restaurant after not having eaten here in years. Food is on point! Fresh, flavorful ingredients that meld amazingly. My partner and I ordered a samosa appetizer; they were crisp and delicious. We also ordered the saag paner, chicken tikka kabab, dal tadka and garlic naan. Everything was made with fresh ingredients, seasoned perfectly, and all had a great balance of flavors. We ate the leftovers for lunch today and everything is still just as tasty. We stopped here for a late lunch while driving up to Clearlake. There is a simple lunch menu - thali or a set plate. We got the vegetarian thali - one with the mixed veg curry and the other with the aloo gobhi curry. The curries was piping hot, the naan was fluffy and great, the daal and rice were decent too. They checked with us to know the spice levels which was good. We got mild for the kids. Finally the portions are decent. Our 2 kids shared a single thali and were quite full by the end of it. The owner checked in to see if we liked the food. The restrooms were really clean and everyone in the staff was masked up. Overall loved stopping over here. read more

This was during our trip to SFO .. so, we were on the customary day trip to Napa Valley :) and it just happened. We were searching for a place to eat on our way .. and somehow came across Everest Indian Restaurant. Quite a find to be honest, not even in our dreams would we have thought of finding an Indian restaurant in Petaluma, let alone something really really awesome. The food just simply blew our mind .. it was so good .. We had the thalis (plate of food with all those different veggies and salad and raita and breads and rice and all) .. both a vegetarian one (no meat) and a non vegetarian (chicken curry) one. Trust me on this .. but one of the best tasting food I have had ever since we moved to US .. The chicken curry was to die for .. homestyled cooking at its best .. The chickpea curry was a close second .. so good. I could name everything else and follow it up with "so good" .. :) Service, prices - fantastic. All in all, wish I could come here every other day .. the food is all that you want in an Indian meal. So good. read more

We had the most wonderful Mother's Day dinner here! We are safely outdoors. Shared a variety of appetizers. Sides and main dishes that met several diet considerations (gf, veggie, dairy free.) Each of the chutneys and sauces were fresh and delicious!! Our waitress was delightful and helpful, and proud of the menu, recommending new additions. Here is one of their new appetizers. Our Kendal Jackson Pinot Gris went perfectly with all the flavors. We'll be back again soon. read more

Tried take out last night from Everest for the 1st time. My best friends and I are always hip to quality Indian cuisine, not always easy to find. I was solo so I ordered the chicken Tikka medium spicy, Lamb Vindaloo very spicy, basmati rice, Garlic Naan, Butter Naan. The Tikka was on point, rich creamy, complex flavors. The Lamb Vindaloo was also good, I ordered very spicy, could have been hotter. Typically you have to be there and explain to them that you want it to hurt a little, I get it. Portions were perfect!! Was really excited to get some Indian food because it's one of my favorites and this was our first time coming here. Definitely bummed with what we got. We got two orders of butter chicken and both were way too oily and the oil had separated from the sauce. The cream looks like it had curdled as well. It was missing flavor to make it have the authentic butter chicken flavor. A dark black hair was found in one of the butter chicken orders. We also got an order of garlic naan and it was on the burnt side and had just about no garlic on it. Was disappointed with this experience. The price point is very similar to other Indian restaurants locally (i.e. Santa Rosa, Windsor) yet falls short of those spots in quality. We did note that the tikka masala looked a lot better than our butter chicken in the photos! Also want to positively note that when we picked it up the staff was very friendly and inviting. read more

In about October of this year, we ordered our usual Chicken Tikka and it tasted different both times. Seems that the previous delicious recipe changed? Now there's too much of a coconut flavor (imbalanced) and the big issue is that the texture of the chicken has become mealy (pre-frozen chicken possibly?) Couldn't eat it. Everest has been a consistent favorite restaurant for take-out for YEARS and other items on their menu still taste delicious, we've stopped going since the Chicken Tikka recipe change. Hoping they return to their old recipe (pre-October 2021) for Chicken Tikka soon ~ we'll enthusiastically return then. The upside: Found an amazing recipe to cook it at home. read more

Our first visit. Went at 6:30 on a Friday. The parking lot was jammed. And that was the only problem we had. We we greeted by our server, AJ(if I heard him correctly) and sat at a corner table. Very nice. We ordered a large Taj Mahal beer... good and cold. And the "salsa" to have with the crispy was avocado, cucumber and tomato. AWESOME. We started with the Artichoke Pakora. My bride liked 'em. I was expecting whole artichoke hearts dipped in batter, but they were ground or chopped and the artichoke was lost (to me). My bride had a mild Vegetable Biryani and loved it. I had the Tibetan Lamb Curry "succulent pieces of fresh, local lamb cooked with potatoes, Fing, and Tibetan spices." I had it medium and it was a robust back of the throat heat. I really liked what looked liked Chinese glass noodles and scraped the bowl clean. I paired it with white rice with peas. I'm going to switch out the garlic naan for plain net times And did I mention the Taj Mahal? Add to that... AJ's service was knowledgeable and attentive; and the time from order to delivery was very short. We will be back! I want to try more of the Tibetan dishes. This restaurant was Ok. Located in a shopping center, there was plenty of parking. The decor is non-existent. Ok, here's my take on the food - the food needed to be salted. It lacked salt and quite honestly, it was very bland. I ordered their lunch special of Chicken Tikka Masala. It came with a small amount of basmati rice, a few chicken pieces, a little tiny amount of dry salad, some very good chick peas and 1/2 naan. The chicken was rubbery and again, under seasoned. The Sweet Lassie was good though. Total cost of my lunch special and drink was $20. Unfortunately, it just wasn't worth it. read more

Ok so just tried the take out app worked perfectly the order was way fast and I arrived at the time it said and it was ready like in 4 minutes after I arrived . So food was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Bread was nice so not a bad place at all to grab take out or to enjoy at the restaurant read more

This is currently my favorite spot for Indian food in Sonoma County! I've tried the Tibetan Chicken Curry, Coconut Chicken Curry, and Chicken Tikka Masala -- all of which were incredible. The Tibetan Chicken Curry -- spicy chicken, potatoes, and thin glass noodles -- was a refreshing change from my usual Tikka Masala order. I loved the flavor of this dish and the noodles added a neat texture. My dining companion ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, which was spicy and flavorful. (Warning: if you ask for medium, your curry will be spicy!) I was quite pleased with the spice level -- the Chicken Tikka Masala packed a nice punch. The Coconut Chicken Curry is amazing as well and the coconut helps balance out the spiciness. The service here is great and I love that they offer Nepalese and Tibetan dishes in addition to traditional Indian dishes. Great spot in downtown Petaluma! read more

My first time trying this restaurant and I am sold! I was craving Indian food since I just moved to the area and this might be the best Indian food I've ever ate. I got the chicken tikka masala medium spicy and the butter naan and it just hit the spot. So flavorful and delicious. I will now be craving this place regularly I'm sure!! Found my newest favorite Indian/ Himalayan food around! We ordered an app, a biryani rice, and 2 entrees with garlic naan. Nothing disappointed! They even brought a complimentary cup of lentil soup to start. They also offer a coconut milk for their tikka masala... rare! I over heard the owner tell the table next to us they took over last December. I think they're doing a great job. Have been searching for this quality ever since my Santa Rosa restuarant closed. The only reason it's not a 5 star is the server not knowing how to redeem the Yelp offer and asking me to bring it next time. When we said no, we were told they'd figure it out, which they did. It just took a while. Otherwise, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! We will be back! read more

Okay I would've given the food a 5 but the service at the end was shocking. I had bought through my company 3 gift cards for this place and decided to use them when we went for dinner the value was $35.00 When it was time to pay the check I used all three gift cards little did I know that the manager said I can only use one at a time, I understood and said that was fine EXCEPT they didn't give back my other two gift cards I asked them to return it and the managers response was "why did your company allow you to buy more than one?" I wasn't sure if he was upset on why I had three gift cards or that he didn't make money off of me that dinner. Regardless it was not cool if you're going to make a deal with companies and then later regret it don't cheat the customer who paid fair and square. read more

Food is always great and the staff is super friendly and works hard. We get takeout more than dine-in but both options have been great. The only thing I wish were different is sometimes finding parking in their shopping center parking lot can be difficult, but I did not factor that into my rating. read more

Everest Indian Restaurant has been established by Gopal Gauchan in May 2009. He has been in hospitality industry for over 25 years. He had owned and operated a restaurant and motel in Marpha, Mustang, one of the major tourist destinations in Nepal. His experience of more than 7 years as the executive chef of Indian and Nepali restaurants in Sonoma County has perfected his cooking skills to a new height. Each item in the menu is Mr. Gauchan's specialized recipes. Come experience the Indian, Nepalese and Tibetan food and best service of our staff in the town. I had never seen that before so we had to try it. We also had a Paneer dish with onions and peppers. Everything was fantastic! So fresh and flavorful, and absolutely packed with spiced! My partner said she thought it was the best we have ever had! We enjoyed everything, and the service was very friendly and personal. We spoke with someone who may have been the owner, who informed us that the food was from Punjab - far Northern India. We had a great meal, and felt like we made new friends as well. The food is, therefore, hot, fresh and incredibly delicious. The one thing we really appreciated is they offer brown and white rice. We much prefer brown rice so that was another positive along with fresh greens. They provide the table with a huge order of fresh naan bread when you first sit down too. The buffet items were prepared with much love and care and all six of us had the most wonderful meal. The interior is clean and inviting. Our server quickly cleaned tables as soon as a guest left so the place looked orderly and inviting. I give big kudos to our sweet server who played a major role in the five star rating. It wasn't until I asked about my order that another employee came over to help at the register. This isn't a reflection on the young employee he was doing his best under difficult circumstances. My concern is with the lack of teamwork and support from the rest of the staff. The food is still excellent, but I hope management addresses this so employees aren't left struggling alone and customers receive the service they're expecting.

First off... Our Server, didn't get a name but SHE WAS ON TOP OF IT!!! Loved her! She was waiting on every table in the restaurant, and not one group seemed impatient or unappreciative of how hard she was working, which is great! Consistent, always on the move, and super knowledgeable about the menu and not afraid to let us know of substitutions for price savings as well as unnecessary duplicates we may have ordered on accident, so A+ for that! Location - Right on the water by the bridge in Petaluma, super cute small store, but don't let any modest setting fool you, the food inside is the BEST Indian / Nepalese Food I have ever had. We used to have a restaurant in our home town we would visit regularly with similar food, but sadly that business was closed, and if it weren't for this place being located an hour away, I would be coming here once a week, if not more, the food is THAT worth it! Let's start with our appetizer, An order of Veggie Samosas. They were HUGE, Piping hot and perfect serving size. One order should be perfect for 2 people for the size they are. They do come with 2 sauces, one I believe is a Mint Chutney, and the other a tamarind sauce (Could be wrong***). Super tasty, perfect texture, not like other Samosas which can be grainy or cold on the inside. This was PERFECT. Then on to the main course... Wow... I ordered the Chicken Tikka Kebab... and it seemed that EVERY table this day also ordered the same (So I knew I made the right call) They do warn you prior to ordering, that it does take approximately 20 minutes for them to make this dish, so if you are in a hurry be aware of that. But! Well, well worth it! To know that this dish is cooked to order, served fresh and hot seasoned and cooked to your taste is so awesome! The only thing I didn't do, which is totally my fault, was ask for it to be Spicy (Because I love Spicy, more than any sane person should admit). But if you are timid on Spicy, the chicken as it comes should be perfect for you, nothing to worry about. I really hate having to leave less than stellar reviews (especially for a restaurant that we have liked for a long time), but the food quality here has been slipping for the past few months and now it's gotten to the point where we'd rather get Indian-Nepalese food from another restaurant whose food we know we can count on for consistency. First it was a marked decline in the quality of the appetizers (samosas are now no good, and the pakora isn't good, either), and now it's the curries that are suffering. Perhaps the Calistoga Road location is serving better fare now? In any event, it's always sad to see what used to be a good restaurant take a turn for the worse. Here's hoping that they can get some different cooks and get back to making excellent food. read more

First of all the owner and the staff were great, just down to earth people. Second, all of the food that we ordered, there wasn't one thing to pick at or even dislike. Believe me, we tried. I love this place and have on occasion driven to Petaluma just to have their food. I haven't eaten a ton of Indian food but of the places I have tried in Sonoma and Marin County this is by far my favorite. The apricot chicken is incredible, as is the everything on the menu. (Points for an excellent sweet lassi, though). Servers ignored us unless we flagged them down, which may have been a childcare issue as there was a little cutie up by the cash register. Anyway, for $93 I really expected better. Going back to Namaste, where the food and service are always 100% excellent.

Pretty disappointing take out experience from Yeti with a few highlights…read more It was $116 for 3 people including chicken tikka masala (very tomato paste-y), a $33 lamb dish that included lamb pieces that were overcooked and veggies that were undercooked (my husband had to still fry it when we got home), aloo gobi that was very oily, 2 orders of samosas (generous portion but mostly potato) but they forgot to give us any sauce, one huge garlic naan (which had a little spice and wasn't cut up), a cup of mango lassi (was very tasty) and masala chai that was also very good. They gave us a very full cup of chai, which I'd normally be super happy about except that the top kept popping off so it spilled in the car. We had leftovers but will definitely try a different restaurant next time.

The spring rolls were the highlight for me--they reminded me of the street-style spring rolls I used to have in India. We actually enjoyed them so much that we ordered a second serving. The chicken pakora was good, with a flavorful batter seasoned with Indian spices. The chutneys were excellent, especially the green mint chutney. The noodle burger was decent. It was a little soggy, although that may have been because it sat for a bit before we ate it. The owner/chef mentioned they're currently trying out new buns, so that could have contributed as well. Also get paneer kathi roll to go- amazing roll, im not a fan of kathi rolls but this was amazing, chowmein was okish Overall, the food was tasty, reasonably priced, and worth trying. The staff were incredibly friendly and sweet, and the service was surprisingly fast. We only waited about 10 minutes, and everything was made fresh. Definitely give this place a try if you're in the area!
