I've had a couple dishes I love here -- from a couple visits -- but I had to write a review after trying their khao soi. It's similar to ramen but replaces the broth with Thai curry. Theirs is really, really good. One of the best dishes I've had at a Thai restaurant. I ordered a side of jasmine rice because it's nice to have a separate bowl of rice to add the curry to. Finally authentic Thai food in Petaluma! It's a house turned into a restaurant dining inside and the dining rooms are decorated in Harry Potter theme decor to an extent. I'm a HP fan so this delighted me while I was dining. The quality is as good as you can get when it comes to Thai food in Petaluma! I adore their flavorful and spot on taste of their Larb salad. Not a lot of places make it and make it authentically! One can order beef as the choice of meat and it goes well with the salad. I love their Tom Yum Goong! Have it with shrimp and it makes it superbly on point. What's great about the choices of meat that one picks for the entrees, is that they don't charge you extra on which type of meat, such as shrimp or beef, like other places do. They also don't restrict you from only doing chicken, for example, and one can order pork instead for each entree. Pad See-Ew and Green Curry was solid. Chicken satay was a great starter. Adore their vinegary sweet sauce and peanut butter sauce they provide as dips. Service was top notch. When I ordered spicy, they mean spicy! I love spicy but their spicy level is, whoo-wee! It is admittedly a bit of a drive to get to Chan Chao for me, but it's been on my list to try out for a while, especially given the high reviews and praise. I'm glad I made the trip. This is easily the best Thai food in Petaluma! I had the Pad Krapow with ground pork and ordered it extra spicy. The menu states the spice levels are Thai spice levels, but I disagree. The extra spicy is about a medium level spice for a Thai person and most people can easily handle it! The Krapow was delicious - one of the best I've had in a long time! The pork was tender and juicy, and the sauce was perfectly balanced between sweet, savory, and herbaceous, though I would have personally preferred more basil, and of course more chopped red chilies! I didn't see it at the time, but you can also get a fried egg on top, which is absolutely essential for Krapow! I'll definitely try that next time! The service was also incredibly friendly! This is probably the best Thai Restaurant I've ever eaten at including the legendary Lotus of Siam (Vegas) in its heyday or places in Bangcock! It is fantastic and a must go place in the area and actually worth a drive. Everything was really excelllent and the Khao Soi was addictive! I also ordered a Tom Kha to go for tomorrow. Cute place inside an old Victorian house. Dining rooms split up but it works nicely. The menu is limited but clearly has all the most popular dishes. Next time I want to try their Pad Thai. I'm pretty picky about my Pad Thai but wanted soup tonight. The soup is so flavorful. Loaded with chicken, onions and mushrooms. I'd have been happy with less than half the chicken. But very happy regardless. The disclaimer on the menu caused me to be mindful of the level of heat. lol So I ordered mild. Then I added chili oil. Tried to seat me in awkward seat in middle of room next to register when entire dining room was empty due to the server wanting to clean the other room more quickly (an hour and fifteen minutes before close). I let her know I'd like to sit in front room and I didn't want to sit at table she wanted (only two other people in restaurant - and this table was directly next to them). She denied my request. Walking in didn't know what to expect being in a remodeled 1900's home. Our server greeted us immediately and sat us in the window in front. Ordered the lab with chicken which was excellent and the spicy basil fried rice. We ordered both dishes spicy, which was the second most spicy and was plenty for me but I could see it being too much for most. Also ordered Thai ice coffee, I think it was $7. This Petaluma spot in a beautiful old house converted to a restaurant on Petaluma Boulevard North serves up delicious Thai dishes. I've had the Pad Thai - never disappoints. I've also had the green curry, and the egg roll appetizer. The serving size is plentiful, what you would expect. Ingredients seem to be high-quality and top-notch. One of the best parts is the online ordering system. It is very easy to order, customize your dishes, and set up for a good time to pick up! I believe they also can arrange delivery... but I live so close by that I've never done it! There is ample space to dine in - be advised there is no alcohol available, if you're craving beer or wine with your meal. The team inside is friendly and helpful and quick! Great place to have a birthday feast! The restaurant has personality being that it is inside of an old Victorian home. We enjoyed walking from central part of downtown to the restaurant. Our server was sweet and efficient. I was happy to see her bring us a pitcher of water for the table. She made a point to let you know that the food is seasoned authentically and asked about our spice level. The Fresh Salad Roll was exactly that; fresh and delicous. The side peanut sauce was heated and gave a nice contrast to the roll Green Curry with Tofu was creamy and really satiating. The side of Brown Rice had a great texture. The Pad See Ew was more on the saltier than sweet side and though our least favorite of everything else we had, we enjoyed it. Pork Thai Boat Noodle Soup has great spice that makes your toes wiggle just enough without kicking anyone from across the table. We really appreciated how the service were attentive to make sure we had the experience we wanted from what Thai spice meant to them all the way to pay attention to the lid of the water pitcher. read more

Absolutely delicious! Lovely customer service in an old Victorian home. Tastefully decorated inside with separate rooms set up for dining. Two of the rooms are smaller with only a few tables so you would definitely have an intimate dining experience. We tried the chicken khao soi, spicy eggplant, and pumpkin curry. It was hard for us to decide which dish was our favorite because we loved the food. In my opinion, the khao soi and eggplant were not overly spicy. They were flavored perfectly. The rice is not included so we ordered two servings of brown rice, also cooked to perfection. The rice complemented the dishes perfectly. To end our meal, we wanted to try the fried bananas with coconut ice cream but they were unfortunately out of coconut ice cream. Instead, we ordered the mango with sweet rice. It was outstanding. Since we have never had fried bananas before, we hope to give it a try on our next visit. There are so many dishes we are anxious to taste. We would be regulars if we lived closer but we will definitely be back again very soon. It is worth the drive! They opened in April 2024 but they have their recipes and service down. I liked the ambience, it was quiet, clean, and it has small 3-D "stuff" on the walls, and I liked the color. I really liked the menu. Usually Asian menus assume that you KNOW Thai food (or Korean or Japanese or....). This menu did not. It passed my "speak to me like I'm 7" test. We split the Egg Roll, described as "Crispy vegetable spring roll, served with sweet chili sauce." I understood. I ordered my main from the NOODLE section, and chose Pad Kee Mao described as "Pan-fried flat noodle with egg, bean sprout, cabbage, garlic, red bell pepper, onion and basil". I chose shrimp as the protein. Each ingredient was really tasty, and it worked as a whole. It wasn't gooey mess I so often get. I got very very close to joining the clean plate club. And from the Beverages I liked the Thai Iced Tea (it didn't have a description) and I liked how "light" it was vs what I'm used to. My wife ordered her main from the ENTREE Section Prick Khing, described as "Stir-fried with special sauce, red bell pepper, onion, carrot, and green bean" And she chose pork for the protein. And hot Jasmine tea as her beverage. She was intrigued with the tea pot. "It really keeps the tea hot!" It was a glass ball in inside a plastic holder that did it, unlike a porceline tea pot which loses heat to the environment. And we had fried banana with coconut ice cream from the DESSERT menu. there was something else was sweet. and it was "just right" each of us got two fried banana packages and split the small scoop of ice cream. The service was extremely personal and considerate. I think this will get added to our "regulars" list, and that I will learn to appreciate Thai food even more. But wait, there's more. I got a parking space about 10 feet from the front door steps. Much different than the strategies I have to use on the "Main Street" part of Petaluma Blvd N.
