They don't have amenities like a pool or sauna, but I get a fantastic workout every time, and I love that it's less crowded. Going to fitiquity would save me 30-40 minutes 3-4 times a week in commuting time, so I really wanted it to work. I arrived and told the woman at the front desk I was interested in doing a trial membership. She shoves a piece of paper at me, tells me to put my name down, and hands me a card, and that's it. No spiel. No what are you looking for. No let me show you around. No liability waiver (insane...). I ask her if there's locker rooms. She says "under the W." From the angle, I can't see what she's talking about, and she looks incredibly belabored when I ask her to show me where. The locker rooms and facilities are fine. A little outdated, but livable. It was definitely hot in there, so I don't think they're cranking AC. There's stuff sort strewn all over the floor in one area, which is annoying especially since I come to the gym to clear my head but again, not the end of the world. I wander around for a bit, try to find the stuff I usually use, which is mostly free weights. There's no real warm up area or mats if the rooms are filled with classes, which was not great but I could make do since I often workout at odd hours. The deal breaker was when I couldn't find the squat rack. I asked the same belabored employee where it was. She pointed to the smith machine. I said "that's a smith machine. Do you have a squat rack?" She pointed to a stack of barbells used for seated overhead presses and suggested I use that. I told her I need safety bars, the ability to rack on my back, etc. She said they didn't have one. I'm honestly shocked - while the gym has classes and prioritizes boxing, more than half the gym is dedicated to weight training. She offered no explanation as to why they wouldn't have one - is it broken? Do they have a philosophical objection to squat racks? Is this gym not intended for the kind of clientele that uses squat racks? Had the staff been even slightly more helpful, maybe I could've looked past the rest, but this would dramatically adjust my workouts in ways I'm not willing to cope with, especially for a pretty dramatic price increase from blink. I hope someday things will shift here and I'll be back, but until then, guess I'm sticking with Blink!

It is extremely family friendly with fitness plans to fit any budget. A fabulous perk is that there is no gym membership to pay. You pay for the classes you want on your schedule. Classes range from personal training to boot camp tailored to your needs and several dance classes. Ray Rivera has been my personal trainer for nearly 17 years. I first met him at a franchise gym after being diagnosed with rotator cuff injuries which were severely restricting my range of motion (ROM). The physical therapist and surgeon I consulted at the time recommended surgery. At that point I decided to explore other avenues to supplement my physical therapy. Within a short time of training with Ray not only did I completely recuperate full rotator cuff function, which has to date has maintained but I increased the my overall muscle strength tremendously. He was able to accomplish more through his training methodology than any physical therapist. Since that time I continued training with Ray and was thrilled when he and Rachele opened up this boutique gym. Since our first personal training encounter Ray has trained me and assisted in the healing of two foot surgeries and continuous to improve my overall health. His training methods are literally out of this world; not traditional but always engaging and never repetitive or boring. I have also trained with Rachele on several occasions. She has a different methodology than Ray in approaching training but is effective and engaging as well. Rachele is a "take no prisoners" trainer who is extremely knowledgeable about fitness and nutrition. If you are truly serious about leading a healthier lifestyle, improving your fitness level and obtaining guidance on optimizing your nutrition and reaching your weight goals, Fitness is Art is the "only" go to place. I don't know about you, but I had a terrible perception about CrossFit. I heard that it was "bad…read morefor you" and "dangerous." If you have this same sentiment but also curious to try it, look no further. You are gonna walk into a gem. Coach Jesi and Coach Marcel are the best trainers that I've ever met. I came from a "performance" boutique gym, so I knew nothing about CrossFit and its movements (e.g. power cleans, snatches, etc). They have been nothing but extremely patient and SAFE. As you can tell, these words are in CAPS for a reason. They follow the CrossFit philosophies, and they are big on safety. Every class begins with a warm up, and we do the warm ups together. We aren't set free to warm up ourselves in our own little corners. Every class--it doesn't matter how long you've done CrossFit--Coach Jesi and Coach Marcel will walk you thru each movement. At the end of class, they want you to release tight muscles. For example, if we worked on Deadlifts, we would do recovery work on our quads and hammies. Not only are their coaching techniques stellar, they provide a lot more than your average gym. At 24 Hour Fitness or those "generic gyms," you don't get a sense of community as you do at Fire & Ice. I know some people like to work out and leave. You can too here, but this gym is filled with people who are kind, sweet and supportive in every sense. If you are the last person to finish, you will always hear someone cheering you on and pushing you to finish. If you can't finish, it is never frowned upon because no one wants anyone to be physically hurt. The community that Coach Jesi and Coach Marcel created is amazing! They also create additional events. For example, Coach Jesi creates fun and butt kicking classes that help grow your glutes--Booty Bootcamps for 6-weeks. If you need more work on Olympic Lifting, Coach Marcel has a 6-week cycle on Oly Lifts fo help you get better. These different events always has a specialization and changes! Sometimes there are other one off events like having a Beach Day with all members. They also participate in the CrossFit Open. They also created a fun, competitive "CrossFit Games" inspired event called the "Reindeer Games." If you know your nutrition sucks, there is a certified nutritionist who can help get you to where you want to be. Whenever I had any "food related" questions, Laura was there to help and guide me! If you need some mobility work or just need to release really tight muscles, they offer yoga classes and has a sweet instructor who is incredibly knowledgeable and most importantly certified in the yoga field with hours upon hours of experience. There is so much that they offer at this gym. It's honestly a gold mine! They offer a wealth of information, and they will do what they can to help you get to your weight loss or strengthening goals. I hit a plateau in my weight loss journey, but when I joined their gym, I began to see so many different changes. I was able to sleep better. My body has better endurance. I even broke my plateau. I recently got married, and I was shocked that my wedding dress was loose at my final fitting. It's all thanks to them!
