Gator Grill is a place I highly recommend skipping if you can. However, if you're willing to wait an hour for your food and enjoy cold onion rings and fish, it might be worth it. They did box it up for us to take back to the bus when asked which was appreciated.

Excellent food right off the road. Was very impressed with the quality of this little joint!

Cute spot off the side of the road. Very small but service was quick and welcoming. Outside shaded area to eat that keeps the sun off of you and keeps you cool. They run the food outside to you. To eat we had: 1.Shrimp po boy- delicious grilled shrimp seasoned to perfection with a special sauce on top. The roll was very fresh and topped with a thin pickle and tomato! The fries were shoestring and very tasty. We also enjoyed the side of coleslaw. 2. Gator bites basket- very good gator, same consistency as chicken. We thought it was going to be fried, very surprised to see it blackened. Very tasty, maybe they should make a fried option? Very enjoyable experience

The Everglades Gator Grill is a must stop if you're coming to Everglades National Park (also don't miss Robert Is Here Fruit Stand that's 2 minutes away). The food here was terrific. We had the chicken strips, hotdog, pulled pork sandwich, and the grilled gator bites. Our family enjoyed all of it but especially the gator bites. They were surprisingly good. They were like chicken but maybe just 15% different. You've got to give them a shot. The staff was friendly and had our food out to us quickly. This place is not air conditioned and you have to sit outside, so be prepared for that. They've got a nice covered patio to keep you out of the sun and also have restrooms. If you're in the area, you really have to stop at this classic spot!

Stopped on our way to the Keys! Fun! We got several items: gator bites, frog legs, conch bites, & grilled shrimp. All tasty & fun. Pleasant help brings you your food outside. We brought our drinks from the car. Some items came with fries &/or coleslaw & the frog legs came with rice. Group loved the conch fritters! I loved the grilled shrimp. Great place to try something different! Little chicken running around was so cute!

Great eatery for some good ol' Florida-country food. We ordered gator bites, fried pickles, and a basket of fries. I'd never tried alligator before and this seemed like the right place to give it a shot. The gator bites were grilled, super juicy and flavorful. I'm a 100% endorser now, couldn't believe how good they were! Just a note, the gator is NOT fried. I imagine you could probably request it though. Best fries pickles I've had too, plenty for 2-3 people to share a basket. Prices and service was good. Gator was a bit pricey but nothing crazy. You get a beautiful view of miles of farmland on all sides while you eat outside (no indoor seating). They also serve frog legs, burgers, and other quick and easy diner food. The deserts sounded amazing too, we regret not ordering the fried key lime pie! Next time we're in town, this'll be our first stop for sure.

I was excited to go to the Everglades Gator Grill on the way to the actual Everglades. It's been a minute since I've reviewed a diner (something I say a lot now, living on the west coast... there are so many fewer diners). Anyway, I found the Everglades Gator Grill since it was right on the way to the Everglades. Not just that, but the Everglades Gator Grill serves actual alligator. I didn't know you could eat alligator until then, so naturally, we had to go. Is it actually a diner? That is subjective, but it's a small roadside stop with plenty of fun options. Atmosphere: The Everglades Gator Grill is located on the side of the road. It's a small building with 5X as much outdoor seating as inside. Most of the outdoor seating consists of picnic tables. Inside, you order your food, then go sit down. There are a few places to sit indoors, but not many. The music was loud outdoors the way we came, and it was hard to hear over it. Other than that, it's a cute roadside stop. There are fun alligator decorations everywhere. Unlike many diners, the Everglades Gator Grill opens at 11 am. So, no breakfast, although I don't know how an alligator omelet would taste. In all, the atmosphere reminds me of a beachy area, because it essentially is. Bright fun colors, plenty of outdoor seating, and a small inside area. Food: Since the Everglades Gator Grill is known for serving alligator, that's what I had to get, right? A few of the Everglades Gator Grill menu items that caught my eye: Gator basket: grilled gator with fries and coleslaw Gator tacos: with coleslaw and cilantro cream sauce Gator stir fry: with steamed rice and plantains The Everglades Gator Grill also serves many non-alligator things if that is your vibe. They have fried clam strips, frog legs, but also some more normal things like burgers, chicken tenders, and salads. So, if you want to try this roadside stop and don't necessarily want alligator, you do have plenty of options. Plus, it's not far from Homestead if you're around there for whatever reason. I decided to go with the gator basket. I had no idea how alligator would taste! It is fairly tough meat, maybe the toughest I've had. It tastes like a tough chicken. Since I have nothing to compare the gator basket to, I will say it tasted good, and I would order it again. The french fries were well seasoned, and all in all, I enjoyed my meal. One of the most unique diner meals I've ever had! I would love to try alligator cooked a different way to see how tough the meat really is. Cost: For my Gator Basket, it was just $15, which seems like a steal at this point. I rarely have diner meals on the west coast that are under $20. Sometimes I miss East Coast diners and their pricing. Service: Our food came out quickly, and the staff was super friendly. I have no complaints. Would I Come Back? I really enjoyed the Everglades Gator Grill, and it's a great stop if you're in Homestead or going to the Everglades. I would definitely go back and try more gator items. If you've never tried alligator, it's tough, but the gator at the Everglades Gator Grill tasted good, and I would order there again. If you're looking for more fun around the Everglades, consider going to the fruit stand: Robert is Here. They have fruit and fun for the whole family. It's not "just a fruit stand" but a whole establishment with barn animal encounters.

Second time here , again food is delicious, well maintenance site, helpful staff, clean bathroom , nice country music . What's else do you want? See ya there

Good place to eat if visiting the Everglades! Close to the park, quick but not fast good. Friendly and clean. Two thumbs up.

Good quick food. Friendly too. Clean and an Old Florida atmosphere. Beats fast food and better than places we tried in Homestead and Florida City.

Great little spot on The way to Everglades National Park . Outdoor seating makes this a cozy spot to enjoy what this restaurant is named for Gator !!! Yum ..... taste like chicken, but so much better. I had the Gator Basket ($17), large portion of fries, Cole Slaw and Gator bites..... the gator was seasoned well and was quite tasty! If your not up to Gator, this restaurant also offers a very large Mahi sandwich ($17).... As well as other choices.... And if you know me, you know I love my fries and these fries were crispy and delicious. So make the stop, give this place a try you'll like it as much as I did. If you are finding food around Everglades, you won't be disappointed here. The gator bites are perfectly seasoned, and the frog legs are tender and moist. The owner is super friendly, plus, you can get an amazing view of the sunset if you sit outside.

Gator grill is a convenient small restaurant to stop by on your way to the Everglades. The owners are nice and friendly, and will bring the food out to you. There's plenty of outdoor seating as well. This is my first time trying gator meat and it was a great experience overall. We ordered the gator bites, gator sandwich (which is just gator bites with veggies and a burger bun), and pulled pork sandwich. All were great and tasty. The service was a bit slow but it was the holidays with lots of customers, so understandably they were packed. Definitely check this place out on your way to the Everglades!

I was also happy to learn that all of the sauces available at the table are gluten-free. My sister, who also has celiac disease, ordered the ribs with a sweet potato and broccolini, and she loved her meal as well. Most importantly, neither of us got sick after eating here. It's always a relief to find a restaurant that takes food allergies seriously and offers clear information for people with celiac disease. This is your spot if the vibe you're looking for is family-style and laid-back BBQ without all the bells and whistles. The menu is concise and, I must preach, very decently priced. They have combo meals and bowls that are sure to please all tastes and appetites. Our group started with sharing their loaded tots topped with brisket and crispy onions. The tots were hot, crunchy and finished as quickly as they came to our table. Hubbs and I shared their 3-protein combo with jalapeño cheddar sausage, brisket and pulled pork, sided with baked beans, baked sweet potato and green beans. I love me some good BBQ but what's BBQ without sauce?! They have a solid selection from sweet heat to smoky to tart so you're bound to find one that suits your mood. Mine,l of course was the sizzlin sweet. It had a slight little dab of what I'd call Tabasco-level heat, which isn't much for me but is probably enough for most. And yes, I simply put that sh!z on everything. I also loved the slow-baked sweet potato that came wrapped in foil with all of its natural sweetness oozing out. For me, that's why it's a favored potato cause it doesn't need much else. However that honey butter they brought for it was the icing on the cake. This is the perfect $20 dish to share which makes it worth coming back again sooner rather than later. Especially if you're returning from the sandbar and can hit up their drive-thru on the way home. That's the biggest win in my book.
