I love coming here right before I go on a road trip to the keys or taking a flight lol drinks price is incredible food is good for avoiding to get drunk lol but this place has been open since I can only remember seeing it as a kid but never went in until I go older! He wanted to come shoot some pool and I told him I'm a 2/10 ( I can't play to save my life ) we came during the week, during the day and it was pretty empty just a couple people. Linda the Bar tender was amazing 10/10! I asked for something kinda sweet and she gave me something I want to go home and make myself. Decent size bar, 3 pool tables ( 1 .50 cent and the other 2 $1 ) and I believe a shuffle board everything was clean. Juke box to play live music. I haven't been here in years and I was pleasantly surprised how this place changed. Don't get me wrong. It is your local hole in the wall bar. But somehow the cigarette smell is gone. The bartenders are super nice and make good strong drinks. Don't get me started with the kitchen. The women running it are awesome and the food is amazing. I'm still shook. As a South Floridian native I've passed this place 1000x times. On this particular visit we were in dire need of food and running out of options. This place popped up. Well we were pleasantly surprised cause the food was out of this world. The bar staff is fantastic but there's a separate food staff which is equally amazing. THE BEST! The closest time was on a day trip in October 2020 to the Keys I swore I would get a drink on the way out. But it was raining so hard I passed. So today I do not know what finally gave me the courage but I turned in and parked. I saw that they had a liquor store so if it was too much to take I could always buy something and leave. So once I stepped inside very dimly lite by the sunshine coming in from the open door. I saw the packaged goods to the right. Sign says ask for assistance which I did. Never had to take more than a couple steps in. Once the door inside the liquor store I headed towards the fireball and got a small bottle to go $ 8. well priced. Spoke to the lady who let me in her Dad bought this bar in the '70s she said it has seen a lot of different folks over the years. Now mostly locals come in that live nearby. She could tell from the look on my face I was probably scared to come in. After seeing the Last Chance on a few road trips down to Key West I decided to stop by on my way back home and grab a beer. I've heard about it a few times. Inside the air conditioning was cold, and so was the beer. It was much cleaner than I expected a dive bar to be. I think the factor that makes this a dive bar is that it opens at eight in the morning. The bartender was polite, I had a single beer and relaxed, she periodically checked on me. A part of Old Florida. A must see stop while in Homestead or passing through to the Keys. I've been several times a year now including an annual trip with 20 or so for the NASCAR race. Never felt unsafe and bartenders are very welcoming. Didn't know they had food options in the evening until this last visit. We had several "appetizers" and they were all amazing. I grew up in Miami and have been coming here for many years. I appreciate that they haven't changed much in over 40 years, so I think it imperative to patronize this joint. Perfectly located, from a geographic perspective, to be named the Last Chance because if you are headed South, this is your last chance for at least 18 miles. The joint is the quintessential dive bar. The air hangs heavy with the stench of many Marlboros past and reeks of bad decisions, unsafe sex, fist fights, sweat, leather, drug deals, blood, tears, piss, canned domestic beers, plastic drinkwear, cheap gin, and sawdust. Appropriately priced, and replete with a package store, this is the perfect stop for a coldy (decide before you drive) and a chat to make your self esteem soar before or after heading to the Keys. I've stopped here a couple times, and I have to say it's the best way to start a trip down south. It's the last stop before the 20 something mile stretch you have to drive before you hit the first of the keys. Now the place is an absolute dive - and I say that in the most loving way possible. Even though it's run down, you'll get incredibly friendly personal service, outrageously cheap drinks (this last time we had 4 beers and 2 vodka/red bulls for about $14), and no judgment for coming in to drink at 10:30am. The bar is full of colorful characters, even before lunchtime (a lot of bikers stop here, and it seems to be a favorite watering hole for vets as well), but everyone is polite and friendly and it really just adds to the charm. read more

Is it odd that I feel so at home in dirty, dank, smoke-filled liquor dens? Cuz I do. I freakin' love joints like this one. It was love at first sight when we strolled into this roadside standard on the way to the Keys. Fresh-faced Miamians, I can't say we fit in with the clientele (of which there was only one), but I felt totally comfortable nonetheless. Without a doubt, the scariest dive I have ever set foot in. One of my friends resolutely sat in his car and refused to come inside, and I kinda don't blame him. Once inside, we were served our drinks in classy plastic cups. We idled in a mostly empty bar watching various drug deals go down. After a while people started to stream in and fill up the bar...and within minutes, two of them had complained (quite loudly) to the bartender that my drinking companion wasn't white. I have been stopping at the LCB since 1981 and it hasn't changed much - exept for the damage Andrew inflicted in the 90's. When Andrew hit as a Cat 5 hurricane there where 200+ people inside drinking and having the time of thier life. Several businesses nearby (Taco Bell and McD's) were almost leveled but there was not much damage at the LCB.... God protects children and idiots! It does look a little seedy but every visit has been great. The have cold beer, plenty of games, pool tables and a package store attached to the bar. This way you can get a styrofoam cooler and load it with beer for the ride to Key West. Highly recommend this dive !! read more

The is the last bar before you get on the 18-mile stretch to the Keys. It looks very sketchy from the outside and the parking lot is usually full of Harleys and pickup trucks, but everyone has always been very friendly when I have been in there. Just a good ole dive with cheap cold beer! read more

Ever since I was in college this has always been a mandatory stop on my way to the Keys and my wife and I keep that tradition alive. What's not to like? Nice people, cold and cheap beer and a package store to pick up your last minute beers, booze and snacks. Several locals and regulars cycle in and out while you're there and it's a dive. I've always met nice people ready to share a story and a laugh when here. As a local, I frequent this bar quite a bit on the way home from work. Cheapest drinks in South Florida, and bartenders with character. I have a lot of respect for the bartenders that run this joint. These girls are tough skinned and won't hesitate to stick up for their customers and boot the aggressive drunks out of the place.
