Five star service and food every time. We have been coming here for about 15 years and every visit is better than the next. The staff are exquisite and meet every expectation in warmth and service. The restaurant is clean and warmly lit, and the seating is so comfy! We always get the lobster bisque, which used to be served with sherry, which I miss, but it is still amazing all the same. We ordered cocktails and wine which were tasty and a generous pour. We also ordered fresh oysters as a starter and they were top shelf and the server was so knowledgeable about the different origins. The sushi is always fresh and tasty, and the Melanie roll is a personal favorite. The fish and steak entrees were hot and well seasoned. The desserts were also amazing and by the time we were done we were stuffed to the gills. Between the food and staff, it keeps us coming back year after year! You will enjoy your experience for sure, or they will make it right. read more

Great food and ambiance! Genuinely enjoyed the experience, it was great. The sushi bar was very interesting to see them create the rolls.

We had the Greek Village salad with yellow tail snapper and it was one of the best ever !--our server Kerma was very attentive

Wow the Islander at Ocean Reef Club is fantastic for lunch and dinner!! The service is spot on and very efficient. This is a casual restaurant with a hipster flare, men must have a collared shirt and no flip flops. The food here is amazing from the calamari to the coconut macadamia nut encrusted Halibut to the sublime chocolate brownie dessert all the food here is amazing!! Easy 5 Stars !! read more

I will start this review by stating you cannot go to this restaurant unless you are a member or with a member of the Ocean Reef Club. Just an FYI. This was our third trip to ORC in the last few years and we had not tried the Islander restaurant for dinner in any of the previous stays. We booked our reservations several weeks ahead and were excited to try this spot. They offer a large seafood menu with multiple local catch of the day and also a very nice sushi menu. Their bar menu selections are very nice as well. Their bread and butter starter is amazing! Seriously delicious warm soft bread with a crunchy crust. Paired with a few adult beverages and we were happy diners. We started with their take on a Greek salad which was nice but there was no lettuce. It was good but very different. Hubby opted to go for a sushi roll special that had tuna and shrimp in it. It was ten pieces in total and he really enjoyed it. I chose to get the grouper blackened with mashed potatoes and broccolini. The fish was so good. The mashed potatoes were awesome. Veggie good too. One of the best meals I have ever had at ORC. Our server Rosa was very nice but she disappeared for long periods of time and multiple times. The assistant server really held everything together for us and I hate I forgot his name. He was so nice and helpful with more drinks, utensils,etc. We ordered rum cake for dessert and it was delicious. I love the colors and vibe of this spot along with the food. read more

We had the Florida roll and the tempura shrimp. So fresh! The service was phenomenal--a very attentive waitress. The food, although a bit pricey for an every weekend spot, was worth it because it was delicious. I would definitely recommend trying yhisbreaturant out if you have the opportunity. read more

5/5 - hands down. My opinion this is the best restaurant in Ocean Reed Club. Be prepared to drop some $$ though. If you don't have any reservations with money then go all out. Thankfully we were able to with a work trip allowance. I honestly can't pick out what was better between the food, service or atmosphere. Everything was just phenomenal. The best dish I had all week was the tuna pizza. Hands down it was amazing! Get it if you go here, you will not be disappointed. Our waiter was awesome. He was 4 days on the job but was one of the better waiters I've ever had. I've had better steak; however everything seafood was . Great restaurant. read more

My wife and I ate here twice while staying at Ocean Reef... it was a great spot. They have an amazing selection of fresh fish - prepared however you'd like! The steaks are great, sushi is great, and the appetizers are also great! I recommend a good piece of your favorite fish and a couple appetizers. You definitely need to make your way here when you're visiting Ocean Reef! read more

One of our favorite dinner spots at ORC. Everything we have ordered here has been Phenomenal , the dirty martinis are my favorite. The steaks are always cooked to perfection and the fish taste fresh. I was told that this place was the best dinner that the resort may offer. My first impression is that the ambiance is like a regular club house. No fine dining, no luxury, no exotic decor, etc. Menu was not impressive nor many options to select. In fact there is 6 types of fish and seafood that they cook in 4 to 6 ways. They do serve sushi and the special of the day was a sushi sashimi platter for appetizer "chef choice selection". in which I ordered. One of my kids ordered the Cuban chicken (half chicken) with rice and beans and it was fantastic. My other kid ordered steak and it was OK. My wife ordered shrimp ceviche, inside a coconut, that was something out of this word. I ordered sword fish, grilled and it was freaking awesome. The meals where outstanding and service top notch. Then why I only rate 4 stars. Well, the waiter fail to mentioned that the appetizer cost $90.00. WHAT!!!!!!!.@#$%$$#. I have never eaten in a restaurant that an appetizer cost $90.00 and I have travel the world....Such dish consisted on one crazy roll, two slices of salmon, two slices of tuna and two slices of toro, three pieces sashimi of salmon and three of tuna plus a martini cup with white fish ceviche. Not even in NOBU..they dare to price that platter in $90.00. read more

I love this place. Probably the best place to eat in Ocean Reef. When you enter you will see a intimate little bar, make sure you grab a drink. They know how to pour. They also have a nice wine selection, but I recommend starting with a house bloody mary - they go great with the fish you are about to eat. The bar is so cozy and nice - don't forget going for dinner. The restaurant atmosphere is very simple, open and nautical themed. The service is beyond excellence. As you would expect, this is a fish place, and they have a very nice variety of hard to get fish. They also have a nice sushi bar at the end of the restaurant. The food is simply prepared because the ingredients are so high quality. There is no reason to ruin a fish, that was just caught, with a ton of oil and butter. They have a huge variety of fresh catch. Try something different. I highly recommend the Hog Snapper. They serve a nice sized piece of fish that can be shared. We had all our vegetables steamed. The desserts are also very nice. Try the chocolate brownie. A very enjoyable experience and will certainly be back soon. read more

I gave 2 stars because the ambiance and views were clean, very pretty,and the starter bread and butter was delicious. The restaurant was a quarter full. Service was below par to say the least. Food presentations had great visual appeal, but dishes were hardly edible. Nearly everything was overcooked and dry. The server, Alex, was polite but lacked experience. He was an order taker unable to sell or explain the menu. It's obvious he was not In touch with the kitchen or his peers as he was unaware of the items on the menu that were 86d and would come back multiple times to notify us one by one that items were out....Sadly, I had already heard another server explaining out of stocks to the table behind us 1 hour prior. Alex completely failed at the basic tasks of taking lady's orders first, pre bussing, refilling waters, offering beverages when glasses were empty, and suggestive selling. This table could have had 10 times the sales and profits it had, its a shame.... His service timing was awful to say the least. We all sat there for over 1 hour waiting for order to be taken. The entire dinning experience took a very long time and sadly when the food came out the experience continued downhill. For starters the food runner, wearing a rubber apron (perhaps dishwasher) landed the tray on a table next to ours infront of the blowing fan and waived waiter down for 5 minutes to come deliver our food. With now cold food in hand, Alex served men first leaving ladies last noticing that one of the ladies dishes was missing and going to take longer...not sure.why sword fish with spaghetti squash seems pretty basic....not to mention why would the kitchen release an incomplete order???So here is where I'm going to critic the kitchen....Out of 8 dishes 1 was good and it was a salad which our host split with his wife. The Lobster was so badly overcooked its like sacrilege....beyond shoe leather. Sadly this was the case for the lobster meal (surf and turf) and the Florida keys sushi roll...just awful chewy and hard...the pork chop which was the only other protein substitute for the surf and turf, like the lobster was over cooked, hard and not edible. The swordfish was dry, overcooked and flavorless... Manager did visit the table and offered to credit the surf and turf. We are all here for a conference ready to enjoy and spend $$$ willingly. Knowing a conference is taking place and driving traffic the food and beverage team should have been better prepared with their orders from their distributors to avoid 86 items. There were zero beef options to chose from yesterday as everything was out. I understand we are all experiencing inflation and odd market conditions but nothing shows more than poor planning and management!! This review is intended for the food and beverage leaders of this outlet as constructive criticism to build on. The foundation of successful restaurants starts with great training and set expectations. It felt like everyone we came across at this location could have used some. read more

The Islander is the best restaurant at Ocean Reef. Food is always perfect and service is top notch. The highlight of our meals was yellowtail snapper, which we had two nights in a row. The first night we had it prepared the classic way with capers and lemon sauce. So delicious. Second night we had it with crusted Ritz crackers. It sounded weird but it was recommended to us by another member we met by the pool so we gave it a go. OMG this is out of this world. So crispy and flavorful. Tuna tartare was also excellent. Very fresh and light. Malina roll was as good as everyone said it was. I highly recommend the Islander! read more

My family and I went to Ocean Reef to celebrate our anniversaries, as the only vegan in the group I thought I'd have a hard time finding something delicious to eat, especially in an area with so many seafood choices. This reataurant is also located on Ocena Reef Club so it's for members and guest of OR. The place it's no real big but have also outside seating. Keeping up with OR the decor it's nautical related. We came with a big group of both adults and children. Since we made a reservation they were ready for us. The staff was friendly and efficient. Eva was our waitress. She immediately took care of the kids drinks and food order. It gave the adults time to talk and study the menu. It was my first time there & I loved the opportunity. The menu it's not huge but have enough alternative. Obviously there's plenty of fish hand shellfish choices, but the also offer some meat. Everyday the have a lemonade and a fish special. The restaurant also offers Bloody Mary and mojito bar. Our group ordered a few appetizers to share; friend conch, shrimps, guacamole & edamame. Since I'm allergic to shellfish I only tried the guac and edamame but everyone loved the fried conch. The clam and conch chowder also got great reviews. For main dish I ordered the fish special; blackened yellow tail fish tacos. It was excellent! The fish was fresh and seasoned to perfection. The presentation and portion also was very good. In general we had a great time with excellent service and good food. It's pricey but after all you are inside Ocean Reef. read more

We ate at the Islander on the last night of our stay at the Ocean Reef Club. The only thing that disappointed me was that we didn't eat here sooner. I would love to have eaten there more than once. The nautical atmosphere was relaxing and the service was superb. They have a good wine selection and the food is incredibly delicious. My all time favorite was the Melanie roll. Chicken sandwich was tough, blackened mahi came out grilled (and overcooked), "Caesar" salad was prepackaged dressing, lump crab salad was fishy (old), fried grouper was uncooked. Anyone giving this place 4 or 5 stars needs their head examined. Fried oysters and regular oysters were good. read more
