Went on a date with the wife and we had a wonderful time! Very calming ambient music, excellent service, and good prices including on the cocktails. We had the Tokyo Tea, which I will be attempting to recreate at home in the near future. Sushi rolls were excellent and made very quickly. I can't speak regarding service or ambience since we did takeout and I tend to try my best to support Asian businesses as a fellow Asian but it's telling when this is supposed to be one of the best Asian restaurants in this town and it's subpar. The sushi at the Wegmans in Corning is so much better quality ...but I don't think that should be the norm. We eat rice nearly everyday so we can tell the rice that was being used for or pickup order was not fresh. For that quality it was too expensive. Pretty disappointed. read more

I visit Coring area every other month and stay over for a week at the time. It has been very difficult to find the decent Japanese food restaurants in the area. Recently, Oka Asian Food has popped up at the former Mexican Restaurant site. Seeing this restaurant near the Radisson Corning Hotel makes very convenient for me. It has been open for five months at the time of my visit. So, I have tried to check this restaurant out. I wound need to form my complete opinion about his restaurant after few more visit. But, I give four stars now. The decor is not ultra Asian, understandable because of the former Mexican ambiance. I don't mind that. I was greeted immediate upon entering the restaurant by two servers with smile. A good sign for the none-Japanese owned place. At 1:00 PM on Wednesday, I saw there were some table occupied by Asian clientele. (We all try to support the new Asian restaurant.) First, negative. The servier brought a cup of green tea, slightly warm. The green tea should be served hot. The server spilled the tea, but did not bother to wipe the table. (A little thing, but add to experience.) Then, Miso Soup came in ice cold bowl. Really unpleasant! The soup itself was good with plenty of wakame and tofu, and tasted authentic. I ordered Lunch Bento Box with Salmon Teriyaki. Nicely presented, but Teriyaki was too sweet, not the authentic Japanese teriyaki. The rice was dried up. Have you forgot to cover the rice pot in the kitchen? It accompanied by a California roll. I give it three stars. The Wegman's is better. (I still think Wegman's Sushi is good.) I might be over critical, because I am a Japanese, used work in a highend Japanese restaurant, Hakata, in Los Angeles. So, definitely, you should try this restaurant and form your own opinion. All in all, food is tasty. I will definitely come back to this restaurant to try other dishes including Ramen. The manger, May, is very pleasant. It is my deepest wish that this restaurant will be open for a long time. read more

I LOVE this restaurant so much!! Me and my boyfriend come here all the time. The restaurant is very nice and very clean. Every single server here is so polite and very accommodating. Anything you need you got it!! We come here so often ( twice or 3 times a month) the servers know my boyfriend's exact order. So every time we come here they already know exactly what he wants lol. They are very friendly and welcoming people. Also very apologetic if they mess up or forget something. Every time you talk to one of the servers they ALWAYS have a big smile on their face. Food is also AMAZING. It's always nice and fresh and honestly a decent portion for the price!! One time I ordered the 'vegetable ramen' and didn't eat the bean sprouts or something.. next time I came I got the 'vegetable ramen' again and the server asks me "with no bean sprouts this time?" and I was honestly impressed and shocked she took note of that!! I definitely recommend trying 'Oka'. They have food options for meat eaters, fish eaters and vegetarians. Which I love because I am vegetarian and my boyfriend is not, it is kinda difficult to find places we can both eat at which is another reason why this place is one of our go to. Amazing service. Friendly staff. We have lunch or dinner here once or twice a week. Take out has never missed the mark! Thai food is seasoned on the medium to hot side (so ask if you need mild), Chinese dishes are better than the other local establishments and they even have an in restaurant bar. Our Japanese favorites are: The Butterfly (special roll) my personal favorite! My husband orders the chicken katsu bento box 90% of the time. The Salmon teriyaki is a good choice if you prefer cooked meals. The vegetables are really good. Sautéed and seasoned. The rice is firm not mushy which is just right . Hibachi is made in the kitchen and brought out to you. It's also a good choice. Give them a try if you haven't already. read more

I ordered take out for my first experience with Oka and I was not disappointed in the least! I ordered a bento box for dinner and I have to say that it was the best bento that I've had in years. The price was fantastic, and I ordered from the dinner menu, if you order from the lunch menu it's even less expensive. The shrimp tempura bento was amazing with shrimp so tender you don't need teeth to eat it...and I'm not exaggerating one bit. Their fried rice is a classic egg, fried rice...no extra bits of onion or veggies and for me that was ideal. The service was fast, efficient and the people were truly courteous. It was a little difficult to find the exact location as there isn't any real signage, but I will be going back regularly. Next time we're going to dine in as it was a very lovely restaurant with a casual and refined ambiance. It also seemed quite popular with the locals. I went on a Wednesday evening and it was extremely busy in the restaurant as well as at the take out area, so I'm obviously not the only person who thinks they're pretty great. I live about 45 mins from Oka, but it's definitely worth the drive for me and I'll be going up for dinner or to get take out at least twice a month from now on. I can't wait to try more from their menu as they have a wide variety of cuisine from different cultures; such as, Chinese, Japanese and Thai. I may have to work my way through the entire menu because everything looked wonderful. I must also mention that the California roll included in my bento was delicious and I love how they julienned the cucumber. Often I have to remove the cucumber before eating maki sushi because I cannot eat big pieces/chunks. Next I'll be trying their extensive sushi & sashimi menu and I cannot wait! I perused the prices of the entire menu and I'm impressed with the value that they offer along with the quality and taste of the food. I will be recommending Oka to everyone and I'll definitely be bringing all of my friends and family in to try their wonderful cuisine. Definitely a experience all around. My wife and I really enjoy eating there. The food is tasty, well seasoned, and the service has always been great.

I had the seaweed salad (nice and crunchy) and the Foxy Lady sushi (fantastic!) plus the miso soup (delicious!). A great selection of Asian food. read more
