    Calamari with mom's red sauce
    Rachel B.

Our dinner last night was absolutely delicious! Service was also stellar as expected, as we know and love the Cellar, of the same owners, so much. So I was already had high expectations! Started with calamari. Truly, some of the best calamari I've ever had in my entire life. And my fiancé and I order calamari often. Our entrées of chicken with side of gluten free pasta, and his entrée of linguini with white clams sauce were both delicious. The homemade pasta is amazing. And it's really really amazing that the gluten-free pasta is also homemade. So many times you see the gluten-free pasta is just the store brand, which is fine. The red sauce was absolutely delicious. The perfect balance of savory with sweetness. Great wine list as well. And the dairy free gelato was impeccable!! I also cannot believe the bill was so reasonable for an appetizer, two glasses of wine, two dinners with sides, a shared dessert, and how perfectly delicious everything was AND allergy conscious. Absolutely thrilled. Thank you!!

The Cellar in Corning, NY is a favorite of mine so imagine my excitement when the owners opened an Italian restaurant across the street!! My husband and I eagerly awaited their opening!! Well, that day finally came and we were not disappointed! Everything great about The Cellar PLUS Italian food!! We started off with cocktails...a Black Manhattan and an espresso martini, both well made and delicious! For starters, my husband had the shrimp puttanesca, which looked amazing and he thoroughly enjoyed. I had the whipped ricotta which is so much more amazing than it sounds: a generous scoop of ricotta alongside cubed, roasted golden beets, citrus segments, and chopped pistachios, served with slices of sourdough!! Just wonderful! I love beets and the combination of those with the ricotta was delicious; the citrus added a perfect brightness!!! The ONLY thing that could have made it better was perhaps more citrus (but that's maybe my personal taste). For our first course, we each got another starter. My husband, the bucatini carbonara, which again, he devoured! I got the arancini and I'd have to say they were the best I've ever had!! So crispy outside while creamy inside!! Omgggg!!! Four nice sized arancini served with a little plate of "mom's" sauce!! I ate only 1...I was quickly getting full. Perfetto! For our second course, hubby got the chicken parm...crispy outside, fresh and juicy inside--it was perfect. I got the ravioli stuffed with ricotta and spinach in a tomato cream sauce...also delicious. I could only eat 2 of maybe 8? Oh, and the pasta are handmade and gluten free options are available! For dessert, we split one scoop of housemade hazelnut gelato and then, he got the flourless chocolate espresso cake served with raspberry coulis; and I got the mini cannoli...2-one with shaved chocolate and the other pistachio!! Needless to say, almost half came home with us and we look forward to eating those leftovers!! We're going back with friends this very week, it's that good! Make a reservation, you'll need one!

Around the back is the entrance to this unassuming Italian restaurant. Its cozy and simple with…read morerustic wood accents. 6-8 tables and an ample bar for maybe 10. Mckelvey was my bartender/server. She was sweet and welcoming. She mixed a terrific Negroni! Backpedaling a bit. I arrived at 6 and by the time my cocktail was in front of me there was a wait. I was disappointed with the apps.. all fried..I'm sure delish but I wasn't in the mood. I had Utica beans and kale (had the hot pepper symbol but not at all spicy ) $16 with a side meatball $6 and sausage $6. Portions were generous and the atmosphere was lively. Everything arrived quickly. Same for my bar mates. I will go back and request extra extra cherry peppers.. Oh! And get the lemon marscapone cake... worth every calorie!! Mange!

This was our Valentine's Day dinner experience near our lake house. Although this restaurant does…read morenot usually take reservations, they did for this particular Friday evening. When we arrived the place was packed, but sure enough, our table was waiting. First came water. Then our server Lydia came over to ask for our drink order. Because I was driving back home, I only wanted one craft beer for the evening. My wife was having wine. We each ordered the Caesar salad, which was half of a Romaine lettuce sliced lengthwise dressed with cheese and dressing. It was tasty, but a lot of food. I ordered the fra Diavlo seafood pasta with rigatoni. My wife had one of the specials, which looked a bit like beef on weck without the sesame seeds. Mine was good, but not all spicy like I was expecting. Hers was actually quite good. Both were loaded with garlic, which seems to be a staple of this place. Because it was a Friday evening and the place was packed, the noise level was quite high. This was especially true because behind me were two large tables of noisy diners. Once they left it was back to a more normal level. Our server Lydia was terrific. Overall staffing was quite good. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Well go back!
