Even if the people here were not fantastic positive forces of joy, I would want to return because the food is phenomenal. My impression is that everyone who dines here has been invited to join a family meal. We sat at the bar because we showed up without a reservation, and they have limited seating (if you can, make a reservation because the bar seating is prime real estate, too). The space is beautiful and warm, and the generations of family photos displayed on the back wall and sitting on shelves reinforce the ambiance of eating with your extended family at your Italian grandmother's house. Ellen and Michael are omnipresent making sure everyone is well fed, comfortable, welcomed and content. Jennifer is behind the bar-managing to interact with everyone seated there while preparing the salumi, managing the fresh gelato and crafting perfect salads-she is busy, but not too busy to offer you a taste of the gelato. This is a wonderful place. We didn't have a reservation and they were busy, so we sat at the bar, which ended up being really fun, as they prepare salads, desserts, etc, there. The staff were friendly. The food was great. We split a huge heirloom tomato capprese and a cod piccata, which were both amazing, followed by wonderful cappuccino and desserts. The wine was lovely. Our dinner last night was absolutely delicious! Service was also stellar as expected, as we know and love the Cellar, of the same owners, so much. So I was already had high expectations! Started with calamari. Truly, some of the best calamari I've ever had in my entire life. And my fiancé and I order calamari often. Our entrées of chicken with side of gluten free pasta, and his entrée of linguini with white clams sauce were both delicious. The homemade pasta is amazing. And it's really really amazing that the gluten-free pasta is also homemade. So many times you see the gluten-free pasta is just the store brand, which is fine. The red sauce was absolutely delicious. The perfect balance of savory with sweetness. Great wine list as well. And the dairy free gelato was impeccable!! I also cannot believe the bill was so reasonable for an appetizer, two glasses of wine, two dinners with sides, a shared dessert, and how perfectly delicious everything was AND allergy conscious. The Cellar in Corning, NY is a favorite of mine so imagine my excitement when the owners opened an Italian restaurant across the street!! My husband and I eagerly awaited their opening!! Well, that day finally came and we were not disappointed! Everything great about The Cellar PLUS Italian food!! We started off with cocktails...a Black Manhattan and an espresso martini, both well made and delicious! For starters, my husband had the shrimp puttanesca, which looked amazing and he thoroughly enjoyed. I had the whipped ricotta which is so much more amazing than it sounds: a generous scoop of ricotta alongside cubed, roasted golden beets, citrus segments, and chopped pistachios, served with slices of sourdough!! Just wonderful! I love beets and the combination of those with the ricotta was delicious; the citrus added a perfect brightness!!! The ONLY thing that could have made it better was perhaps more citrus (but that's maybe my personal taste). For our first course, we each got another starter. My husband, the bucatini carbonara, which again, he devoured! I got the arancini and I'd have to say they were the best I've ever had!! So crispy outside while creamy inside!! Omgggg!!! Four nice sized arancini served with a little plate of "mom's" sauce!! I ate only 1...I was quickly getting full. Perfetto! For our second course, hubby got the chicken parm...crispy outside, fresh and juicy inside--it was perfect. I got the ravioli stuffed with ricotta and spinach in a tomato cream sauce...also delicious. I could only eat 2 of maybe 8? Oh, and the pasta are handmade and gluten free options are available! For dessert, we split one scoop of housemade hazelnut gelato and then, he got the flourless chocolate espresso cake served with raspberry coulis; and I got the mini cannoli...2-one with shaved chocolate and the other pistachio!! Needless to say, almost half came home with us and we look forward to eating those leftovers!! We're going back with friends this very week, it's that good! Food was amazing the warm crisp focaccia dipped in virgin olive oil yummy. The eggplant caponata over polenta Devine. Spaghetti with hot sausage and meatballs perfect Italian flavors. Linguine with clam sauce delicious although the clam were a bit chewy tough. Beautiful decor with posters and family photos. Staff was pleasant and helpful. They make all their pasta fresh in house. Drink menu was very good. We recommend for night out out Italian style. read more

Wonderful! I'm a Jersey school and have eaten a lot of great Italian food. This was great- very flavorful spaghetti sauce and excellent meatballs and focaccia! Even the butter was so sweet! Everything is A La carte. Your $10 bowl of soup will fit in a coffee cup but the taste is an A-. My wife ordered a salad which was an A-. We waited about 20 minutes for our dinners. My chicken dinner was a B-. My wife's chicken Parm was a B. We ordered an $8 bowl of sphaghetti to share. The bowl was smaller than a standard size cereal bowl. The spaghetti was under cooked but tasted fine. We tried the Gelato. Only the Sweet Creamy Gelato was good. Our cost was over $100 for the 2 of us. The staff is very friendly. The restaurant appears to be very clean. But the staff's staging area for bowls of salads, ice cream and deserts is at the counter. This spot is 2 feet from the nose and mouth of customers sitting at the counter which means a simple cough or sneeze and the food is contaminated. I believe a 5 ft long by 2 ft tall piece of clear plastic or glass needs to be installed at a 60 degree angle in order to protect the food. We were there on the weekend and the place was full so if you plan to try it, please make a reservation. If you have the money, it's probably worth giving them a try since they're the only Italian restaurant I could find on Market Street. Note: Anellios Pizza and Subs on Market Street was recommended to us. We went there, It was also full, but we weren't into Pizza, Subs and Buffalo Style Chicken Wings that day. So we picked Ellen and Michaels on our own. read more

Everything was ample and delicious! Our table ordered arancini balls, roasted beets and ricotta, and fried calamari. Also Caesar salad and pasta fagiola. Entrees ordered were cacio peppe' carbonara, tagliatelle w/ sausage and also a pork chop. Fresh pasta was amazing! Gelato to finish it off! Our waitress was great (although we waited about 30 minutes for her to come over to our table once we sat down) and loved the atmosphere! Red sauce was bland and all food lacked flavor overall. We had a party of 7 and everyone agreed most of the food was not super flavorful and nothing special. We understand this a new restaurant and may need time to get the kinks out.
