I went on the full-day "Twilight" Hoh Rainforest tour this past Monday for my birthday with Evergreen Escapes. It was absolutely wonderful! Even if you are not a Twilight fan, you'll still enjoy this tour. They start by picking you up from your hotel and head over to the Olympic Peninsula in a very comfortable van. They have drinks and healthy munchies on board as well as fun Twilight and Eco quizzes for the ride. You stop at some fun campy Twilight sights and get to eat lunch in picnic style on La Push beach. Then head over to Hoh Rainforest for an easy and magical hike. They do a wonderful job of pointing out birds and wildlife the whole day, as well as talking about very interesting ecology and geology. The tour ended with dinner at Bella Italia. You also can watch videos during the ride, like Twilight for the fans. We actually had such wonderful conversation in the van, we turned off the video after 5 minutes and enjoyed getting to know each other. The other special moment was on the ferry ride back to Downtown. The tour guide had snuck a slice of cheesecake with a candle for my birthday and our group sang me happy birthday. It was a gesture that touch my heart more than they know. I am truly grateful for the wonderful birthday. I will definitely be doing another tour with them the next time I'm in Seattle. read more

I took the Olympic National Park tour with Sean. It's was fabulous! Not a lot of walking but the trek on Hurricane Ridge is at a steady incline so it can be taxing. Lake Crescent is beautiful and the walk around there will provide plenty of amazing photos. Will easily use them again. Highly recommend! I did the Mount Rainier National Park tour with Marty and it was well worth the price. One of the best parts was that every detail was taken care of - from coffee and snacks to a delicious lunch to plenty of options for restroom breaks. There was even extra cold weather gear available, including hiking boots. Touring the park with all the snow there was a really magical experience, and snow shoeing was very fun! I was a little nervous because I booked the tour solo, but Marty created a very welcoming and comfortable atmosphere and the group was very friendly. This is a great option if you are traveling by yourself or with a group! Marty was very knowledgeable and a wonderful guide. This tour was one of the highlights of my trip to Seattle! read more

Our guided hike of Mt. Ranier was easily the best thing we did during our trip to Seattle. Mika was our guide, and she had the day planned perfectly. She picked us up at our hotel and immediately put us at ease. And as we picked up the rest of the people for the tour, she had a way of making the group feel like a meeting of friends instead of a collection of strangers. She also had a way of anticipating everyone's needs. From snacks, to breakfast, to the perfect, steaming coffee and tea, to the wonderful lunch made by the local co-op, to available water and drinks (and even more snacks), and sun screen and bug spray, to the wonderful, decadent chocolate-cup cookies at the end of the day, everything was perfectly planned and executed, like a dance. The hiking was not too strenuous, but still a decent workout and the views were incredible. I would book this tour again in a heartbeat, and I would want Mika to be the guide! read more

awesome tour company! our tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable. we did the olympic national forest tour and i must say that the tour itself was on time and organized. our tour guide allowed plenty of time to enjoy the sceneries even if we are on a time constraint. the tour includes all the state park and ferry fees. what i liked about this tour is that the company made sure that it will be a small group. hence, we didnt feel like it is so commercial. also, they also provided yummy healthy snacks, drinks, and tasty lunch. we never went hungry...thus it's a plus! all in all, highly recommended. i will use this company again if i happen to be in san francisco or portland. read more

We had a fabulous time with our guide Clay! She was super friendly and clearly loves the great outdoors and sharing that love with others. Our trip to Mount Rainier is one we will certainly remember. It was beautiful and worthy of the many pictures we took around every corner. I was impressed at how accessible everything was. Taking the tour was our best idea ever... Clay knew where to pull off the road to get to the best viewing of every waterfall and overlook. She knew where the crowds were going and how to time our stops for maximum use of our day. She told us about the flora and fauna we saw, only adding to our adventure. Our small group of 6 was the perfect size for our adventure. Sunday had called for rain all day, yet we were lucky to only have rain on our way out of the park. Really enjoyed our Mount Rainier tour with Marjorie. She was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. She accommodated our every need and polled our group to make the tour fit our skill level and desires. Lots of snacks and lunch was delicious. Marjorie ordered up a perfect sunny day for our tour. We have some recommendations. The bus needs to be outfitted with a microphone and speakers so that everyone can hear. Leg room was a major problem. Tour description stated the tour was 10 hours, but the actual time in the park was less than this. The 10 hour frame included all of the time required for pick up and drop off, so was a little misleading. Actual time at the park should be stated in the description. Our last recommendations would be to stop well away from the park for a photo op that would include the whole mountain. A few brief stops at a couple more turnouts for pics would also be nice. My mom and I did the Olympic Peninsula tour this week and it was exceptional! Our "escape artist" was Kirt, and his knowledge was extensive. His information base was both broad and deep: he knew all of the plants that we came across, but also knew that the Transient and Resident orcas are genetically different, don't interbreed, and speak different "languages". There was something he told me that will stay with me forever: dark blue/purple berries are always safe, red ones are either good or bad, and white ones are always poisonous in the Pacific Northwest. The visit to the Jamestown-Klallum tribal museum/totem pole carver's shop was especially poignant. I walk past the memorial totem for John T. Williams every day on my way to work and had admired the work they had put into it; but we actually got to speak with the carver and look at the tools in the shop. His cuts were precise and graceful, and like most professionals he made it look easy. At the beginning of the trip it was fairly overcast and we weren't sure where the final stop would be. We (as a group) took a vote and decided to chance the drive to Hurricane Ridge to see if we could get above the clouds. It was a wise decision! We managed to get above the ceiling and the views were incredible; just before we got into the clouds we could see Dungeness Spit below us and Mt. Baker in the far distance. While we were going across the Hood Canal Kirt spotted something off the right side of the bridge; turns out it was a shoal of Harbor Porpoise. There were so many amazing moments on this trip, I can't mention them all. All in all it was a fantastic day; we had a group of people who came from all different walk of life and with very different life experiences, but by the end we had come together as a group. I believe we called ourselves the "Bacon Bus" because there were less than 6 degrees of separation between all of us. read more

My husband and I took the tour that hiked Mt. Rainier National Park in the morning and visited 2 Yakima wineries for tastings in the afternoon. Marty was a wonderful tour guide, very knowledgeable, and was able to pivot when Mt. Rainier (and the mist) were not cooperating. I went on the Olympic day tour and had a great time. They thought of everything. We were picked up promptly and made the ferry and there were organic pastries and hot tea on the ferry for us. They do all the driving so no stress there and it is a great day to spend outdoors. The guides Dan and Tyler were super nice and knowledgeable. Dan educated us about all the trees and geology of the region and Tyler pointed out all the birds and knew them all by their call. We were lucky to get a sunny clear day and enjoyed a catered lunch at Lake Crescent and at Dungeness Spit we had views of the Olympics, Victoria and Mt. Baker. It was a great way to remind myself what a beautiful place we live. I highly recommend taking a trip with this company as you will get a great taste of the Northwest. read more

We were both quite disappointed in our all day expensive trip with Evergreen Escapes. I had been so hoping it would be good as I planned it all out long in advance and it meant doing a lot of logistic maneuvering and additional costs for us on top of the $$$ for the day-trip with Evergreen to be able to do this trip. At a cost of over $200 per person for 1 day (with taxes) we were thinking and had read online we'd have a full day of snowshoeing with 1 short and 1 long snowshoe hike, but we only were taken on one very short snowshoe walk around a pond. The little walk at a very slow pace was under an hour long. And that was all we did really except drive back and forth from Seattle with a few very short photo stops. Oh and we ate a sandwich and a cookie in the van the company supplied. It was a nice van. But the price of over $400 for this trip for the 2 of us was absurdly high we both thought for what we got. I had been hoping/thinking we would book other trips with Evergreen Escape as their trips *sound* interesting but we found reality wasn't as it read like it was online with this company. read more

Private Mt. Rainier Tour: This was the perfect choice for my family, as we had one member with limited mobility. Having an experienced guide enabled us to hit the highlights and go to places/hikes that were manageable for all of us. There is no way we would have been able to navigate the park in a day without this expert knowledge! The entire experience was amazing, the drive, the food, the views, the information. I would highly recommend to all who have only one day to see the wonders of Mt. Rainier! Great snowshoe trips for beginners! I heard about this company through Groupon (as did everyone else on my tour), and booked a half-day snowshoe trip to Snoqualmie Pass for me and a friend. It was a little hard to find their office, but the trip was fun. They take you up in a very comfortable Mercedes van. The trips are not huge - mine had 9 people and the max is 10. All were locals except for two ladies from out of town. You do not need to own snowshoes as those are provided, along with water bottles if needed. I don't remember the name of the trail we were on, but it dead ends at the Snoqualmie Tunnel on one end. The terrain was mostly flat, and very relaxing. We walked to a look out point, and Kris, the tour guide, brought out hot tea to drink and muffins and scones from a local bakery to munch on. She also told us about the history of the area and gave us a nature lesson. Overall, the trip was lovely, but it's definitely for beginners. If you are an experienced snowshoer, you may find it a little boring as there is no challenge to it. I have snowshoed several times, so I am glad I bought the excursion through Groupon instead of paying full price. read more

I took my mum on the Mt Rainier trip with Simon and we had an amazing time. It was honestly one of the most fun things my mum and I have done together. We learned a ton (which we then used to impress/bore our husbands), had delicious meals (scones and tea for breakfast, gourmet salads and beef with wine for lunch), did just the perfect amount of hiking and sightseeing, and laughed our asses off. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed every minute. I will definitely be trying out their other trips, and will be bringing more friends/family/coworkers along too. Snowshoeing is next up for us. read more

I live in the Pacific Northwest and am an outdoors enthusiast and traveler. So you'd think I wouldn't want a guide. Ever. But the truth is that an expert really can make your experience so much better and richer if you let it! I've done the North Cascades and Olympics Tour with them and loved both trips- the guides are thoughtful and knowledgeable, the food is great and I always end up with more interesting knowledge about my beautiful state. My boyfriend and I went on their "Brews and Views Tour" this weekend and had a great time! The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about Seattle's history and culture, took fantastic photos of us, and gave us a comprehensive guide to the beer culture in this area. We stopped at Elliott Bay Brewery, Georgetown Brewery, and the Fremont Brewery. Our tastings were covered, and we were treated to a gigantic soft prezel at one of the breweries. We had the opportunity to take lots of photos and ask plenty of questions. Our group was a lot of fun. We were all the same age (20-somethings) and although we were from different parts of the country, we all shared the same love for beer and sight-seeing. My boyfriend and I are both from Seattle, but we still learned a lot about the city. I'd definitely recommend this tour for a couple or a group looking for something new and fun to do. This is also a great idea for those visiting because in addition to learning about the various breweries, you learn a lot about the city's history. read more

Made it today for my first ever snowshoeing adventure. Got a great deal on a groupon. Had a hard time finding the location and figuring out where I needed to be and when, but once arrived everyone was super helpful. We drove out to snoqualmie pass in the early morning and walked around. I loved the part where we went off the trail and tromped through the forest. They also brought the most delicious mint tea which we had half way through our hike. Our guides were very informed and provided us with lots of information about the area to keep the trip from getting dull. I hear they do lots of other adventures but this is the first one I have experienced and would definetly consider signing on for a new one. Plus its a great way to try something new like snowshoeing. I feel like an expert in just one day. read more

I had a great time is past weekend at Mt Rainier despite the cloud cover. We spent a couple of hours hiking over the course of the day, both in a forest as well as at a higher elevation. We saw several waterfalls and some wildlife. The trip was good for a solo traveler because the small group size allowed for people to get to know each other. Jeff was our guide and he was very hospitable and knowledgeable. He had an endless supply of punny jokes which was also entertaining. I would definitely go on another trip with Evergreen! read more

Our tour guide Karen was amazing. She picked us up at our hotel on time with a smile and a brief introduction. We went to several places in the Olympic Park. Everyone was more breathtaking than the last. She had lots of snack options and drink options. We stopped at a scenic site and had a delicious gourmet lunch. Karen was very versed on geography, Flora, fauna, and history of the area. We learned so much. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone. The van was new and comfortable. They don't fill every seat so you have breathing room. I have some mobility issues but she was able to cater an itinerary just for me without impacting the rest of the group.Masks are required in the van but we were free to remove them outside. The Mt. Rainier trip with Evergreen was everything I was looking for. Traveling solo and without a car, I wanted a way to explore the park. On this tour I was able to do so with good company and without the hassle of planning everything myself. At the maximum of ten people, the experience still had a small-group feel to it. I appreciated the opportunity to do a few hours of decent hiking, not something you find on every bus/van tour. Our tour guide, Preston, knew his stuff, was easy to get along with, and took us to areas that weren't too crowded, considering it was a weekend. He also brought along his camera and sent us photos afterward. We came back a little late, which was fine with me, but be aware of that possibility if you have anything scheduled in the evening. read more

We were highly impressed with our Evergreen Escapes experience! It was so convenient to be picked up in downtown Seattle and driven out to Mt. Rainier. The drive up was gorgeous. Once we arrived, we snowshoed up the mountain and observed Mt. Rainier. The snowshoeing was not too difficult and the views were stunning. After, we took a quick hike in the forest and observed trees, moss, lichen, wildlife, etc. We absolutely loved our tour guide, Emma. She was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. We learned so much on this trip! We forgot a few items and Emma even had extras which was also helpful. The lunch and snacks were great; we tried some local wine with lunch. Here is the description of the one day Olympic National Park tour taken exactly from Evergreen Escapes: "Visit Hurricane Ridge to watch deer graze in the meadows, listen to the distinct shrill of a marmot, smell the pungent perfume of a summer wildflower, or feel the snow crunch beneath your feet on a winter snowshoe. Then continue west to the glacially-carved Lake Crescent, where you'll delve into the fern-filled forests that line its shores, venturing to Marymere Falls if time allows." 1. Our visit to Hurricane Ridge was spent mostly INSIDE at the VISITOR CENTER instead of on an actual hike/walk. 2. Did not see Lake Crescent at all. 3. Our first two stops on the tour were NOT even in Olympic National Park- it was outside the park at some random beach (waste of 40 minutes) and at a rest stop in a town eating breakfast (waste of an hour). Olympic National Park is pretty far from Seattle and it's impossible to see a lot of it in one day. That being said, this tour could have been done MUCH more efficiently allowing patrons to see much more of the park and enjoy the outdoors. "Breakfast" took far too long and was a waste of time. There was no need to stop at random (and quite frankly unpleasant and not picturesque) beaches on the way to the park. Instead, would have rather travelled straight to the park and spent the day exploring- there are a lot of little and easy hikes around the park. There is no need to spend a half an hour in a Hurricane Ridge visitor center- especially on a nice day when we could be outside exploring actual Hurricane Ridge instead of being inside the visitor center looking at pictures of the hikes. Absolute false advertising with Lake Crescent since I asked as soon as I was picked up from the hotel if we would see the Lake and was told tours never have time to go that far (maybe the tour description shouldn't include it then?!) We spent about a total of 3 hours in the Park (1 hour eating lunch) and then were rushed to make our way back home. We were so early our guide actually stopped at another random (and not very pretty) lake to include as another "stop" on the tour. I would have rather used that time IN the park. Our guide was nice enough but the tour itself was not efficient or well organized. Super expense for basically no results. Save your money and rent a car and go yourself. I guarantee you will accomplish more and your time will be better spent! read more

We did and experienced things they we would not have known or done without their help.
