I'm new to caring for plants. I was looking around for new plants and found Evergreen Farm is near me. They are located near Old Oakland/McKay tucked away in a commercial area. There is a good collection of rare succulents. I never had one before so I am starting off with a baby Echeveria. It caught my eye even though it had yellow leaves which the owner plucked away. She said it was normal for leaves to go yellow as it's growing. The Echeveria is one of the cat friendly plants. I had my cats sniff at it and they didn't care for it. Baby succulent will be safe :) What I found online, "succulents are beneficial for improving air quality, promoting a calming atmosphere, and potentially even aiding in stress reduction and boosting productivity. They also offer low-maintenance care, making them ideal for indoor environments." Closing up with it being a good size store located at the end of Ringwood Ct. Plenty of parking. Prepare to spend 30 minutes perusing around in finding your ideal plant. Owner is quite helpful with explaining on how to care for a plant and what to choose. IMHO I've been intrigued by Evergreen Farm's Facebook ads for a while and finally made my way over to their little store in an industrial business area in North San Jose. They're open on Fridays thru Sundays, 10 - 3. This succulent store is so cute, bright, and clean! Succulents and cacti are found in two brightly lit rooms with a huge assortment to choose from. I came looking for a wide variety of unique succulents, and I definitely found them here! 2-inch pots are $3, and 6-inch pots are $6. I grabbed a round plastic tray to collect my choices and happily went shopping! I chose 10-$3 pots of succulents plus two bags of premium succulent soil, $3 each. Heck, I figured I might as well give my new succulents the best chance to thrive with the premium soil! Keep your eyes open. It's on the left hand side going down south in San Felipe. They have no signs or markers. Just a tiny rocky driveway. They do have lots of succulents. Prices are ok. They have it priced by size. Little ones are $3. I got 4 of them. So many to choose from and so cute. They are experts too and you can ask them any questions and they have an educated answer. I've never seen so many different types of cacti and other succulents. There is a vast selection big and small. Everything looks at peak health--all the succulents are so beautiful! I love it here! If you're looking around for a good variety of succulents to purchase, you can easily spend an hour here just deciding which ones to pick up. There are many tables under the tent. Good shade. Good warmth for the plants. So much variety! More than you would normally find in a plant shop. I just hope my plant babies survive, as I'm still somewhat a beginner gardener. It's quarantine day one hundredy eleventeenth and I like many others have diverted a large amount of attention to indoor plants as I too am basically a house bound vegetable. With a very small number of nurseries and quality plant stores in San Jose, I was delighted to find Evergreen Farm, a succulent specialist so close by and so well-reputed. After browsing their very clean and easy to navigate website www.evgfarm.com, I found these beautiful variegated string of hearts and variegated string of pearls and placed an online order. The process was very simple, and an email confirmation was sent shortly. Within a matter of hours, my order was ready. When approaching the farm, go up the slope and check to see if there is a car on the left in the curbside pickup area. If no, pull into the curbside pick up area. If yes, turn right and park in the lot until the pick up area is vacant. I really appreciate the thoughtful social distancing safety protocol and signage set up to make this an easy process. Now, the plants. I love these plants already, but I would be lying if I said I was not disappointed in what I received. The string of hearts was not a string as much as a few cuttings in soil, and the variegated string of pearls' color was not as prominent as the photo, and had only a single noticeably pink variegation I had to dig around to find. While I know plants are all different and the photo on the website is an example of what to expect, I felt that the plants I received were smaller/younger and less dense than what the photos showed. One star each for the great variety of succulents, the reasonable price point, the thoughtful safety protocols put in place, and the ease of order and pick up process. This is my first experience here, so it may be a fluke judging from all the other perfect plants others have received, but the missing star is for my personal experience. I will grow these babies and hopefully they will become what they were meant to be. read more

I have been wanting to go visit this place since two years ago. I have browsed through yelp pictures for the directions and pictures as well as looking in FB for their page announcements. I wanted to go but there would be other distractions and obligations that hinder me to go there. They are only open from Friday - Sunday only. So during the summer when I have nothing to do, I would ogle at the pictures and make inventories in my head as to what I would be looking and buying - eventually. It was only last weekend that I get to go drive up there and bring my daughter with me. It was an easy drive (for me) with the help of GPS. There was only a little sign by the road and if you are not looking hard enough you might miss it. It's actually a private home with a green house that houses these succulents. They are arranged by pot height and priced accordingly. There are many - like a lot!- of variations to choose from. They are arranged by likeness and even by color so if your thinking of making arrangements, it's laid out for you. They also sell pots and terrariums but the main focus is their succulents (and their peach tree which is brimming with wonderful fruits!) I am a sucker for succulents! LOL! read more

I bought a sedum clavatum, and was expecting it to look like the picture on their website, or at least similar. The one they gave me was very etiolated and had a lot of scarring. An advertisement for Evergreen Farm showed up on my Instagram feed and I had to check them out before they closed for the wintertime. There are no regrets driving about an hour to get here from the East Bay. Everygreen Farm is tucked away in the hills of the outskirts of San Jose. There was plenty of parking when I arrived at the base and I walked up to the garden area. When you enter, you come under a massive greenhouse filled with so many succulents. They range from 2", 4", and 6" pots 2" pots are a little over $2 ($2.25 I believe). There are also some specialty plants like decorative kale or bigger plants have been growing for some serious time for sale. What I love most is how every plant's section is labeled so you're not left guessing what they are. There are many sections for you to wander up and down to find the perfect succulents for your needs. They accept credit card here which is a huge plus, but do expect tax to be imposed on your purchase. read more

Once you pass Meadowleaf Court, it's the driveway immediately on the left with a tiny signage that says: 6784 succulents If you reach a long stretch on a two lane road heading into what seems like nowheresville, you've gone too far. I've done the trek for you. Turn back. I've bought my fair share of succulents from cheap I'm-going-to-experiment-with-and-propagate-you to way-too-expensive-please-don't-die-on-me. The ones here make me feel like I've lucked out. Evergreen Farm has both really affordable and rare small succulent babies for $2 and larger established ones for $5! Eat that Home Depot. They also sell Terra Cotta pots and soil if you can't wait to arrange your purchases until you get home. They have larger plants at variable prices, but I like them tiny. My succulents, that is. I originally decided to check this place out due to the wide selection of succulents that they have and it's on the cheaper side as well! My boyfriend and I decided to drive here this past weekend to buy ourselves some succulents after doing some research on how to care for them.
