This is only the second farm I've ever gone to but hands down the best farm ever!! Not sure if the experience could get any better. There was an area to shop pears in boxes (I wouldn't recommend because for just a little pricier you get way yummier fresh pears to pick but they're still good) and sweet potatos and dried figs and more. Then there's a cute tractor ride that comes quite often, not much dust gets blown up, and short but scenic for the fall foliage to get to your pear picking destination. There, you see endless rows of fresh Korean pears so full and plentiful!! And they even have an abundance of ladders available for you to use to pick the pears. The price is pricey but the pears are beyond amazing and highly recommend. Come taste their amazing pears and support this farm! Not worth it ! It's $10 per adult, $5 for kids over 3 yrs old. After that it's $3.99/lb of pears picked. NOT FOR STROLLERS or WHEELCHAIR/ WALKERS !! Yrs ago the crop was right next to the parking so you can just wheel your kids in strollers around. Not anymore. Now in order to get to the picking area, you have to get onto tractors. Despite me calling ahead and asking, the reception falsely told me that the farm was stroller and wheelchair accessible. Very disappointed, as we had to separate our family and leave some people behind at the picnic tables since they cannot get onto the tractor. It's overcrowded, there are bus loads of Cantonese tourists that gets dropped off. It can get loud and pushy to get onto the tractor. The wait line to get onto tractor has no shade so you're just standing in the hot sun. It's all dirt roads so it gets very dusty with every car that goes by. You're better off just buying Asian pears at Hmart. If you like the fruit picking experience, go pick apples at small farms. If you insist on experiencing Asian pears picking, bring an umbrella for the sun, masks for the dust, go on a less busy weekday, and leave the kids and elders home. read more

This is a big asian pear farm. There were a lot of people here, but it ran efficiently. It never felt crowded to me; the tractors came regularly, and the workers here were very nice and attentive. They helped my mom on and off the tractor in her wheelchair. However, it was quite expensive with a $10 per person entrance fee and $3.99 per lb for the asian pears. So, if you're excessive pickers like we are, be prepared to spend a lot! I docked off one star because of the entrance fee. It's too much. read more

I arrived at Evergreen around 11am, and boy the lines had no end in sight. You had to buy an admissions card for $6 to go pick your own pears or you can opt to buy pre-picked pears/fruits in the shop. They also sold many other produce like corn, grapes, ginseng, dates, and grilled chicken in the shop. Right next to it was the huge line for the tractors that would take people up to the designated picking area. I waited on line for an entire hour before we were able to get picking - it seemed like there must have only been 2 or 3 tractors in use. It was literally a sea of Asians all around, tons of kids and older folks. There were plenty of ladders around to pick pears at the very top, as long as you could find one. Many people brought small knives to cut the pears to eat. The pears themselves were plentiful and super sweet! You can eat as many as you want and pay for what you want to take home by pound ($3/lb). One thing you should pay attention to is the ground you step on, since it may be slippery due to all the pears that have fallen/been discarded. After my family and I were done picking, we proceeded to line up to pay - another 15-20 min wait with 2 cashiers. Then we had to wait on a second line for the tractor ride to go back to the entrance. It felt like a battle just to get on the tractor with everyone pushing and skipping the line. Overall, I would not recommend visiting this farm especially during peak season (unless you come super early) due to the insane amount of people here. There were literally 6 giant tour buses and a sea full of cars by the time I was leaving. The lines had gotten way worse by the afternoon. I've been going to Lee's Orchard garden for the past 2 years (which is way smaller but much more pleasant) which is why I wanted a change in scenary. Came on a Sunday around 1130am. We got tickets for pear picking and it was $8/person (this is only for the admission, for the pears, I believed it said it was $4 - $4.50/lb). When we saw, there were probably around 300 (not kidding) people waiting on the line for 2 tractors that could fit around 20 people. We immediately went back to request a refund as it looked insane and we were probably going to wait in line for another 2hrs. Instead, we used the money for the tickets on the fruits they had for sale. Even the market place area was insanely packed and I just wanted to get out of that place. Our group arrived around 11am. Even though it was mid October, the weather was in the 40s and windy. There was a small line for the women's bathroom and it was ok at that time. We headed to the buy our tickets for Asian pear picking but there was only one line for people buying produce and tickets. We got on line and waited for the transport to the designated area for pear picking. Got on and some of use ended up standing for the ride. This was my first time ever but it was entertaining seeing people who were definitely prepared with small knives to peel and eat straight off the trees. After you've picked your Asian pears, you need to join the line to pay for them by weight. We waited for the transport back, which was a VERY short distance we could have walk, but I understand the farm probably would have liability issues if something were to happen to someone in that short distance. We had brought lunch, so we sat in the lunch area and ate. Someone of the people in the group struck up a conversation with the owner and he share some cooked corn on the cob with the group. Second trip to the bathroom in the afternoon before the trip back to flushing... HOLY HELL! Used toilet paper piled higher than the toilet tank. Lunch almost came back up. Poor management, under staffed, and greedy owners!! Their website is outdated and says $6/ per person for admission and $3 per lb for pears. They charge $8 for admission and $4.50 per lb. They don't allow you to carry a purse/bag for personal belongings. This staff member, older Korean woman, was yelling at the driver who was transporting people, for allowing people with bags onto the hayride trailer. She was yelling at paid customers and wouldn't let them on. People need a bag to hold their water bottles, wallet, keys, etc... I told her they need to do better on their website to inform people. All of this should be noted on their website.. She yelled at me and said she's too busy. They only had 2 hayride trailers to transport people and already had a huge line at 10 AM. A small section is allocated for picking and they had only one row open for ppl. It was so crowded in that one row. They had staff guarding and not allow people to go to other rows. One cashier on site, long line to get your pears weighed and to pay after you pick. People went into other rows to take pics and staff were yelling at people for going into other rows. By the time we left st 12:30 PM, the line waiting to get on the trailer must of had over 500 on it. So many cars and tour buses in the parking area and cars were still going in. Poorly maintained grounds with not enough bathrroms (clogged stalls and no tissue in women's and men's), old picnic tables with splintered wood). The owners are very greedy. Pear picking is a fun family activity to do with both little kids and grandparents. I happened to come on a very nice day (70s and sunny) and the place was pretty crowded with lots of families and Asian tour groups. This made for some very long lines for both the tractor ride (we arrived at around 11am and had to wait at least half an hour) and the bathroom. Prices aren't very cheap - the tractor ride admission is $4, and pears are $3 per pound. Most of the rows are sectioned off, so you're limited to only a few rows of trees for picking. Unfortunately we went in late September, which is too early in the year for the darker Korean pears, so we were only allowed to pick the more yellow ones. Ladders are provided for the hard-to-reach pears, though sadly the bigger pears were all in the sectioned off areas that we could only look at from afar. Back at the parking lot area, there's a dining hall that serves Korean food. Do yourself a favor and bring your own food!! The vegetable soup was completely tasteless and also expensive ($7 for a bowl, also includes rice and some spicy pickled vegetables). You can also get a free BBQ chicken if you bring a senior citizen, but unfortunately all the chickens were sold out by the time we got back. I came here with a large group of family yesterday to pick our own pears. There was a long line to get on their farm vehicle in order to be transported to their self pick pears but the line moved fairly quickly as each truck picked up about 15-20 people. Before you get on though, you have to purchase a ticket to go into the pear farm. The ticket is $4 per person. I think kids under 4-5 are free. Once you go in, you can pick and eat as many pears as you can stomach. I stomached 4 big juicy sweet pears. :) When you're done picking pears and taking selfies, you take your pears to the front where they weigh and you pay $3/lb. I bought 11 pears and they came out to $30...almost a lb each pear. Quite pricey, but worth it if you love to eat pears and can throw down 4-5 pears while you're picking. I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 because the pears area bit overpriced. Yes, they are good. Yes, they are juicy and sweet. No, they shouldn't be $3/lb. $2/lb would be more reasonable. Went on 10/5/21 early morning ~10:30 ish Figured to go on an off day to avoid the crowds. There was a bit of light drizzle when we got there. We went to the restroom and there was no toilet paper but when we left there was a huge roll per stall. We paid $8 per person for admission and it was $4.5 per lb for the pears. The Korean lady gave us the wrong change back for the admission ticket just FYI, happens. There was no workers so she requested that we just cross and walk over to the pear picking area. We didn't know where we were going because it was our first time. There were ladders for pickings. A lot of the fruit was rotting and it was sad to see. There were lots of bugs as well. The fruit was delicious and we were eating as we were picking and taking photos. Overall we had a fun experience and will most likely be returning next year with more people. I did notice that as we were leaving a worker came to close up some of the rows for pear picking and asked people if they purchased tickets. There was more people as we came as well and Korean lady requested for people with bigger purses to leave them in the car. There's a store right on site and it sells pears in boxes, along with apples, peaches, corns (sooo good!) and other veggies/fruits. The fuji apples in the gift box wasn't good quality and one napa chinese cabbage had two worms in it so had to throw it away. Fair warning, the prices can get expensive but you can't find Korean fruits grown locally anywhere else so you are paying for it. That being said, everything is usually very fresh and of good quality. I've been here many times over the past decade. The fruit picking is a good novelty activity but after the first time it's no longer necessary. I'm sad that they don't offer cooked food any longer--I really loved their freshly roasted chicken! You can't get any of the fruit in small quantities, it's more like wholesale, a bushel of this, a box of that. Went to the farm with a tour group to pick peaches. The fun part begins with riding a wagon being pulled by a tractor. They packed as many people to the wagon like migrant workers, luckily for everyone, no one got hurt from the 2 minutes ride to the peach farm. The farm is pretty big but the area they let us pick peaches is fairly small. Not sure which variety of peach is it, the flesh is kind of green, texture and taste are like apples, probably because it's not ripe. All you can eat at the farm area, we tried 2, don't want to waste them. Staff watched/spied on everyone. They didn't give us bags for the peaches, we brought our own and staff didn't say anything. After picking, we rode the wagon back to the farmhouse to pay, 2 peaches for $4, I forgot to check the price per pound. Some people didn't bother to pick, they just buy boxes from the farmhouse. The farm also sells other produce like eggplants, cucumbers, black beans, multicolored corns, dried jujube. I was hoping they sell juices and jams but they don't have any. We got free samples of multicolored corn, they are chewy and delicious. The restrooms are in the back farmhouse. The ladies room has 4 or 5 stalls, clean and well lit. Actually, it looks newly renovated. We bought knives but should have bought peelers. Do bring some paper towels or wipes to clean hands. Before going, you should know they charge a $5 fee per person flat fee for entering the u-pick section of the pear orchard (that's NOT credited towards your purchase). Since it was a rainy day, we picked up a box of pears from their store (that range from hits under $20/box - $35/box. After getting home, the pears (they cold from the farm storage area) are all mealy and soft, some rotting inside. Maybe this is a fluke but think twice before buying large boxes of pears, and their "sweet corn" is a sticky chewy texture (no crunch) and not sweet at all. The pears are super sweet but overpriced at $3 a pound. 6 large pears will come out to be around $20-$25 dollars. Notice some people going against rules and placing pears in their own bags. They have a "store" which sells a box of the same pears for $30 and there seem to be around 12-15 pears in the box. So it might be more worth it to get those. If you're looking for a fun family outing at an orchard, picking fruits, I'd choose another farm/orchard immediately. The picnic area is a bunch of picnic tables on dirt and feels like a tour bus company just dumps a bunch of people there. Other orchards have nice family friendly picnic grounds and grassy areas to relax. But this is more like get there and get out as quickly as possible. You have to wait on a line to ride a tractor to a tiny pen, where you're given only a row to pick your fruits with another 20 people from the truck. You can try to duck under to the other row, but watch out because there's a guy lying in the grass in the background watching you. Otherwise you're stuck with everyone else on some pretty tight quarters to pick okay Asian pears. They're not even sold at a discount! So next time I want Asian pears, I'll take my admission fee and the rest of my money to Chinatown and buy them there. And as far as orchards go, I'm going to stick to the ones in Warwick, NY that have all the fruits and acres upon acres for you to freely roam and explore and picnic with a beautiful view from a well kept gazebo. read more

Very expensive. I came here with my family for pear picking a few weeks ago. We came a little after noon and the parking was already pretty packed. There's just a section of the field where cars can park and a person directing all the cars. It's not very clear what you have to do when you get there. There's a small sign in the back that you have to pay a $5 entrance fee, but it's pretty easy to miss. Once you get onto the field, they hand out a yellow plastic bag to each person and you can go pick your heart out. I have a few complaints - it's not a very organized place and they stuff people into a few fields. It makes it very competitive to pick pears and some people take it VERY seriously. Some can get nasty. While you're picking, you're also able to eat the pears. The issue is that a lot of pears end up on the ground, either broken or half eaten, and they make it so hard to walk on the ground without tripping or falling. The second is that the price is pretty expensive. Don't get me wrong, the freshness, sweetness and taste are what make these pears popular, but damn, you'll drop at least $100 here on pears! I had an okay experience here, I'm not sure I would do it again though. read more

Out in the middle of Nowhere, NJ, this Korean run pear picking farm offers plenty of fruit varieties, some Korean bbq, and a lot more. However, it is so poorly mismanaged and not very friendly to non-Koreans. Every sign is in Korean, most of the employees do not speak English, and their pear picking system is kinda whack. You buy pear picking tickets, and hand it to the truck guy to drive you over the the pear picking spot. Then you are only allowed to go down one over-picked tree lane to find your pears. After that, you come back and pay for your pears. Kinda pointless because most of the fruit was on the ground, and the ones still left in the trees were crap. The Korean bbq area was kinda neat. You go inside the building (which is also infested with little flies, every where) and walk up to the food counter and pay for your roast chicken. They give you a chip, which you walk back to the bbq area and they take a whole chicken, chop it up and put it on a styrofoam plate for you. The chicken itself was delicious! The system they have is eh. Again, it is poorly managed. I would probably not come here again. Although we did come out with some pears and good roasted chicken, the overall experience was really confusing. I would rather just go regular apple picking. So this city girl finally went fruit picking for the first time ever....and LOVED IT! With an aversion for all things typical, we decided to go KOREAN PEAR PICKING instead of apple picking. Early October weekday = prime korean pear picking season = awesome experience. Its a korean run farm about an hour+ from NYC. Waze actually took us in a bit of a roundabout way to avoid midday traffic on a weekday so to give you an idea... we left around 1:45pm from the UES and made it to the farm at 3pm. So glad we made it out on a weekday- not crowded at all :) Once you enter the farm, you'll see parking in front of a small playground. Then head towards the store and purchase your $5 entrance fee passes. At the store you'll see a sampling of the other fruits and vegetables they grow and package to sell to stores and supermarkets. After you head out of the store, cross the street and you'll see a row of trees with caution tape on it. Walk a bit further down and you'll find an old korean guy who will take your entrance pass and give you a bag to fill with all the korean pears you desire. :) Purchase is by weight, NOT per pear. Then he'll instruct you as to which rows of trees you are allowed to pick from and you head into the orchard and have fun! Just a few notes.... *someone mentioned how its only open on Sundays? We called and clarified that they are open 9-5 pm for korean pear picking EVERY DAY. *Also read another review about a tractor... yea...that didn't happen, though my friend was kinda looking forward to it. LOL *Since there is caution tape around each row, to enter a different row, you can just hop over and go through the tape whenever *be careful where you walk! there are lots of fallen pears on the ground. *utilize the ladders for fruit that are too high... and make sure someone is holding your ladder! Prices went up from previous reviews: $2.50 for the tractor ride, $2.50 per pound for pears. We arrived on the farm a little after 1:30 and it was cram-full of people. I know other reviewers said it's packed, but it was at least three times more packed than I had imagined, and filled with more Cantonese people than a dim sum restaurant on a weekend. Parking is hectic, like others have said (it's not a paved lot, so be prepared for some slight off roading, city slickers). The orchard is fairly large, but the area where people hang out, wait in line to go on the tractor, the "store" (pretty much a warehouse), and buy food (as well as the indoor cafeteria-like seating) is fairly small. It seemed like there was also an outdoor picnic and BBQ area (for those who brought their own food to BBQ). Anyways, our party of four split into two, as we initially thought we had to pre-buy tickets to get to the orchard (not true, they have a limited number of plastic numbered cards to give out, so you wait in line to pay for the cards as you get closer to the head). I left to get food and here's the menu I encountered: -$40 organic chicken soup -$20 for a whole BBQ chicken that you had to wait two hours for between paying for it and picking it up outside (it didn't look/smell like it was worth the price or wait) -$7 soy bean soup with three sides and a bowl of rice with black beans When I was in line, there were quite a bit of people upset at the high school-aged looking cashiers and asking for refunds because they ran out of things. I went up and asked what they had left and bought the last two orders of the soy bean soup. The food was okay; some of the sides were too salty, and others not spicy enough, especially for Korean food. Also, when I hear Korean farm, BBQ, and Asian Pears, I will think Korean BBQ ribs (Asian Pears is an ingredient for the marinade), so I was very surprised to find none. Waited a good two hours in line for the tractor ride to take us a good 100ft from the end of line. I know it's probably a way to prevent over crowding, but I thought it was pretty...scammy (they don't let you walk there, even if you pay). Also, the wagons themselves remind me of carts used to transport detainees of some third world country. They do only open one or two sections at a time. Each section is fairly large (the trees are almost vine-like and arched so you walk between them) and long, but it can get crowded. There are ladders hanging about, so you can use them to pick the higher up ones. Otherwise, there are plenty low-hanging fruit. Bring a knife/peeler to peel the skin as pears are AYCE when you're there. I assume the price of the tractor ride is to cover the average one pear each person eats, so I ate 2.5 to beat the system. If you find the darker brown/red ones, they are incredibly delicious and the best Asian pears I've had. The best ones left over are usually up higher. They weigh the yellow bags they provide you with at the picking location before you get back on the tractor wagon. We decided to walk back from the picking location, no one seemed to mind. The warehouse/store was expensive and crazy packed, totally won't miss anything if you skip it. read more

Why all the bad reviews. We came on a Sunday. Besides the huge crowd that was annoying , everyone in our family had a great time. They only had korean pear available for picking at the time but that's OK. They charged $5 dollars per person to go in picking the pears, you can eat all the pears while you pick them (staffs don't stop you) and lots of family fun. I think it's a great deal. And the pears were sweet, fresh and delicious. We took lots of pears home. They also have lots of produce for you to purchase. When we were there they had tons of corns, fresh apples and grapes to buy. And also lots of jujube. The jujube were marked organic and super big and sweet. And only at $20 dollars for a big bag. Definitely much cheaper than the supermarket. They also have this play ground for the kids and 3 cute Shiba dogs that were super cute. Overall a great place. Definitely recommended read more

Nothing but the hits! 1. It's awesome! Korean pear picking. I love pears, and the Shingo pear is one of my faves. 2. They have a barn where you can buy bulk produce. 3. Bring money, peeler, and your stomachs! Ditch the idea of bringing your own bags, because they will inspect your bags.. use the bags that they will give you. Don't forget to snack on some fruits! The fruits are so fresh and wonderful to eat! 4. Bring your lunch so you can use their benches. I saw a smoker and some bbq grills but they weren't available to use. 5. They have real restrooms, not porta potties! 6. They have a mini playground area for the kids. 7. The barn accepts credit cards. 8. Pay, wait for the van to pick you up, get their signature bags, and then bask in the delicious pear glory. read more

Evergreen is a Korean family owned farm. They have acres of land dedicated to crops, such as wheat, corn, cherries, apples, grapes, walnuts, and pears. We went on a Sunday to pick Korean pears. It's $5 per person for admission and you get to choose ONE fruit you want to pick (we chose Korean pears), and $2.50/lbs for the pears after you've picked them. You will receive a card (your ticket), that allows you to enter the tractor aka hayride. Upon arrival on this vehicle, you give the driver your ticket and you'll be granted entrance. This tractor will transport you from the main farm, to the fruit fields of your choice. Be cautious of the steps leading to the tractor, you can slip and hurt your back, due to the uneven and wobbly steps! So the hayride takes about 5 minutes. There's this young woman who enters the vehicle and talks about the rules you have to abide by. Oh, and can I mention, it was pouring rain when we were picking pears - props to us for being mighty troopers! 1. You can't pluck the leaf and branch that comes with the pear; try to avoid that because you'll prevent more pears from growing during the next growing season. 2. You can't take the pears in the special bags from the trees. Apparently, they claim that it's unripe and whatnot, but my aunt says that the pears in the bags are the "precious" ones that are saved so they can sell them. 3. Don't jump up in the air for the pears, that's dangerous! Get a ladder to pick your pears and make sure you have another person supervising you! 4. You'll be given a yellow plastic bag to store the pears you've picked. It's $2.50/lbs for the pears. After you're ready to purchase the pears, walk to the weighing station and they'll weigh your pears, you'll pay (they only take cash!), and then you'll wait for the tractor to arrive so it can bring you back to the main farm. Here's a major tip: You ARE ALLOWED to eat as many pears as your belly can hold on the premises! There were 3 types of pears I saw: Green, Brown, and Gold (All of them tasted ripe, sweet, crunchy, and delicious!). 5. They don't tell you this, but you'll be watched by guards (people in the yellow highlighted coats)...it's not weird if you're with family, just disregard them and have a great time! The main farm station sells colorful corn and preserved jams by ajummas. The bathroom is on the main farm station, located in the back barn. Enter the barren barn house and it'll be on the left hand side. There's a playground on the main farm for children. There is also parking available. read more

Ever since my mom discovered this farm, it has been my yearly ritual to get asian brown pears in october from them. The first time I took a bite of the brown pear, I wondered if they fed the trees sugar because it was unbelivably sweet. The quality has been very consistent the past few years, so I'm confident that I'll get some sweet and juicy brown pears this year! Their apples and grapes are good too, the asian type. I wouldn't bother with their roasted chicken and all the side dishes though. The farm now charges $2 if you want to go pear picking (used to be free). My advice is to go to the farm store and pick up a box of loose pears and enjoy them at home. read more
