I've been taking my three dogs (ages 4 through 7) to Dr. Evergreen almost since he opened his business, starting with one dog when I couldn't get into our old vet then transferring the other two after just two appointments with him - he was that good! I like his opinions, options & ideas - his ability to educate you and make you an active participant in their health care is great and the amount of research he does (his background knowledge on various topics of health care) is wonderful. We no longer vaccinate but titer our dogs thanks to his recommendations (and we spent a lot of time ourselves researching after his recommendation as this was such a foreign concept to us) and medications that we use when needed tend to be homeopathic and much easier on our dogs. I also love his staff (I think Keir is the correct spelling!) - they've gone out of their way to fit us in at different times, faxed & emailed copies of records as we've needed them & ensured that we most always get in on time as well. Dr. Evergreen and his staff are wonderful! The Dr. is quite knowledgeable, very caring and gentle, and you can tell he only recommends what is best for the animals. After the many other vets I've run into over the years that manhandled my cats and tried to get me to do dentals, MRI's, loads of medication, etc. in a bird-shot approach to treat or just to make money, his kindness and thoughtfulness to treat with the best treatment, either western medicine and/or naturopathic, is calm and refreshing. read more

Took our dog with skin issues to Dr. Evergreen for the first time and he was fantastic! Took all the time we needed to answer questions, never rushing us out the door. VERY thorough in his diagnosis and takes the time to think about the issue from all angles. Came up with a game plan that other vets wouldn't even consider (and seems to have been correct so far) because they were too entrenched in the "regular" medical way of doing things. So I had to sign up for yelp just to write this review on how fantastic Dr. Brad Evergreen and his staff are. I couldn't believe how much time I actually got to spend talking with him (45 minutes), and he was so incredibly patient with all of the questions I had for him. I love that the first thing he talks about is nutrition and has no problem with pets eating raw food! :) At the end of my visit they even gave me a gift card to a local pet store! I did a lot of research on pricing and he's definitely reasonably priced. It's actually about a 40 minute drive to get to him, but it's well worth it! read more

TLDR: Incorrect diagnoses leads to unnecessary surgery, and an overall $5,000 bill. Full Story: In 2012, I began taking my pets to Dr. Evergreen in Monroe. At first I liked it, he seemed knowledgable and was nice (even though his bedside manner might leave a little to be desired, I get that that is just some people's personality). He was willing to try a more natural approach to any issues my dog or cat may have, before jumping to modern medicine, and I liked that. However, this past January I took my cat to see him over what I viewed as rather drastic weight loss. His diagnosis was that he needed an ultrasound - to the tune of nearly $500. I don't know about you, but I'm guessing the average person doesn't just have that laying around. So since it was not life threatening, I asked if we could treat for what he thought it was, for a month and I will try to save the money. He was amenable to that, and as it turned out the treatment for both of the possible diagnoses was the same, so we tried it. A little over a week into the treatment, on a Sunday (vet's closed) my cat began acting funny: moaning, yowling and trying to crawl into a dark corner in my bedroom. So, I rushed him to Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital who after a $400 X-Ray and some examination by a vet there, said my cat likely had a tumor blockage in his stomach and would die in 24-48 hours. They gave him pain meds, and fluids and let us take him home to say our goodbyes. I am so thankful that I listened to my gut and did not choose to euthanize him on the spot as this vet implied would be the humane thing to do...I will NEVER take my pets there ever again. We took him home, spent time with him and my husband massaged his distended stomach. The next morning he was FINE. Yes. TOTALLY FINE. He had a somewhat nasty bowel movement and then began acting like his old self. We continued to monitor him all day Monday, and then got him in for an ultrasound with Dr. Evergreen first thing Tuesday morning after sharing with them what had happened over the weekend. Dr. Evergreen depends on another vet, who is mobile with his US equipment and makes his rounds to other vets needing ultrasounds performed on their patients. It is my understanding that Dr. Evergreen is not a certified stenographer and that is the reason for this, however he did assure me that he has experience with looking at ultrasounds and making diagnoses from them. So when he shared with me that BOTH he and the other vet agreed on the diagnosis for my cat, I trusted his judgement. He shared that it was his belief that my cat had a case of GDV. For those of you who know what that is, you may already be confused. Because GDV, also known as Bloat, usually occurs in large breed, barrel chested dogs - is very rare in medium to small sized dogs, and is unheard of in cats. Nevertheless, this was his diagnosis and he suggested I rush my cat over to Seattle Veterinary Specialists in Kirkland for immediate surgery as GDV is a time sensitive, life threatening condition with an extremely high mortality rate (which we found out the hard way this past weekend when our German Shepherd died from it suddenly, despite having him on the operating table in under 2 hours since noticing his symptoms). Given that our pets are family, I did exactly this...with a 5 month old who hadn't eaten or napped yet, in tow. They got him into examination, and then into surgery ASAP - and now I know why they looked at me like I was nuts because I was freaking out that my cat would die if they waited for all the records to be transferred, including the ultrasound results...because GDV was nearly impossible in cats. The surgeon cut my cat open and found that he did NOT have GDV, nor had he ever had GDV. The biopsy revealed a slight amount of inflammation in his intestines and that was it. Leading them to believe that he likely has IBD, which is what I thought all along. This was an egregious misdiagnosis and oversight IMO, and cannot be forgiven. I will never go back, nor will I recommend them to anyone I know. read more

I was very impressed by my visit to Evergreen Holistic Veterinary Care!!! Dr. Evergreen does not just prescribe meds to cover symptoms. He took the time to find out what my dog's, food, and supplement regimen was like before making a diagnosis. I was surprised to find out that my dog's food may have actually been causing some of his chronic problems. Dr. Evergreen made some excellent suggestions for how to change my dog's life for the better. I was impressed by the way that Dr. Evergreen explained the different options for treatment, but did not pressure me into doing anything unnecessary or harmful. My dog was also very comfortable with Dr. Evergreen, and he normally panics when he goes to the vet. I drove 45 minutes to go to Dr. Evergreen because he was very highly recommended by a coworker. Dr. Evergreen has been the most wonderful vet we have ever had for our animals. We have a dog with pure red blood cell aplasia. We credit Dr. Evergreen for saving her life. Twice. When we were having problems coming up with funds for our dogs treatment he even took his dog in the the animal hospital to give blood for her. Who does that? He cares. Truly. He truly thinks of the animals feelings and treats them with kindness, compassion and very much like a human. I would wish to have care as good for myself as he provides for the animals he sees. I drive out from Seattle to Monroe to Evergreen Holistic because it is the best vet clinic I have ever been to. Dr. Brad, Dr. Hannah, and the whole staff are really warm, compassionate who honestly care about all of their patients. Some of the things I value most about their practice are: -They spend a lot of time with you, including comprehensive exams and explaining things in detail. -They do traditional western vet medicine and holistic treatment, so I don't feel like my options are limited when I bring my animals to them. I had no idea my cat would love acupuncture so much! -Evergreen Holistic is really dedicated to making their practice as environmentally friendly as possible. 5 Stars isn't enough. The level of care given by Dr. Brad is the best around. He's quiet and gentle with the animals as well as super patient. He takes all the time necessary for a thorough check, 100% hands on. It's a welcome change to other vets that won't even touch the animal, let alone get on the floor with them. I love the fact that every avenue is explored for the care and management of my pets, not just the standard practices. I also appreciate, more than I can say, having a vet that supports raw feeding as opposed to pressuring me to feed a processed diet. If you are considering changing vets, give EHVC a chance. I have been going to Evergreen since it opened here in Monroe. I had a pug with multiple immune system issues and I believe the care he received with Dr Brad Evergreen allowed him to live very comfortably until the end. Traditional medicine was causing him more problems than it fixed. He had a history of mast cell tumors and under Dr Evergreen's care he did not have another tumor. My other pets also have holistic treatments that work very well and Dr Evergreen gives me the information I need to take care of our issues and not have to have endless appointments. I will agree that the front desk has not been the same since their wonderful office manager left the position but I think that Dr Evergreen is worth hanging in there until that position is stabilized. A small office just can't be the sames as the larger facilities but when you have an appointment with Dr Evergreen you get his full attention and ALL questions answered fully. After spending a lot of time, money, going to specialists, testings, etc trying to find out what exactly is wrong with one of my 3 babies (dogs), I was advised to see Dr. Evergreen. He spent a lot of time with us in discussing the situation, lab work, findings, options, etc. After 2 visits, we found out that our baby had a persistent UTI, and no, she did not have kidney disease or need any heart medication per other vets. The reason why her blood pressure was high is because she was just freaking out when techs were trying to take her blood pressure readings. Dr. Evergreen's holistic approach to treating animals and spending time with each patient is refreshing. All the staff at the clinic are extremely friendly and caring. His charges are also very reasonable, much more so than the chain-managed vets. Even though it's an hour drive from home, we still take all 3 of our babies to see Dr. Evergreen! read more

My wife and I met with Dr. Evergreen yesterday about our female dog's ongoing diarrhea. Another vet we saw last week said it was likely due to food allergies. Dr. Evergreen dismissed that notion, and correctly diagnosed the symptom as Giardia. In fact he saved us a few bucks by telling us we didn't need to analyze our dog's stool sample. We had submitted a sample the previous week to other vet which ruled out parasites. Dr. Evergreen prescribed a couple meds and a probiotic. Less than 24 hours later, our dog has a firm stool. Dr. also explained vaccinations, what was needed, what really wasn't. Overall, just a wealth of information. We never felt rushed. Just a really nice man. In summary, we would highly recommend Dr. Evergreen and his staff to anyone seeking attentive, honest medical care for their pet. read more

I have visited numerous veterinary clinics with my assortment of pets over the years, and no one compares to the quality and personalized care provided by Dr. Evergreen. I brought in my cat and my dad's 2 cats all at the same time for their yearly check-ups. Dr. Evergreen personally spent around 45 minutes in the room with us, assessing and explaining their health and personal needs. He is extremely knowledgeable of specific animal needs here in the PWN, such as what vaccinations are more necessary than others, what kinds of pests we should treat for, and what nutritional requires the animals needs for their age group. He drew pictures so we better understood what was happening with one of our cat's teeth, and personally called me to review another's normal lab work. Clearly Dr. Evergreen values his patients and their owners, and takes the time to call them personally instead of passing that task on to a tech. Even though I now live in Everett, I will continue to visit this clinic for my pets and future pets. read more

Evergreen Holistic Veterinary is one of the best around. Throughout the years, I've taken numerous rescue dogs, as well as my resident dogs, to vets and specialist throughout the P.S. region and have become pretty specific in what I look for in a vet. I don't just hand any of my dogs over to anyone... I might not be the easiest client to have. The entire staff has been fabulous. I have never worried any of my dogs would be compromised and the thorough, honest, and compassionate handling of them (and, let's be honest, me) is super appreciated. Various dogs have come through my rescue with health issues or at more advanced age and Dr. Evergreen has been honest in his assessment and thoughts for treatment every single time. He's not flinched when my higher drive 88# dog brought his tennis ball into the exam room and proceeded to roll the 'saliva ball' down the floor and on the chair (I'm still sorry). They were amazing with the various treatments, workups, follow up, and support. I couldn't thank them enough. The staff I've worked with, Dr. Brad, Kendra, Kier, and Heather are so appreciated. I thank you all SO much. It's important to know they are active in the community and give TREMENDOUSLY to rescue work in addition to the amazing care of their 'normal' clientele. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Evergreen and his staff. My husband and I live in Oak Harbor and we have literally tried every veterinarian in our area. We had so many bad experiences and bad attitudes from so many of them with our animals that we felt almost helpless. After searching online I found Evergreen Holistic and after seeing the good reviews - we decided to drive two hours hoping this would be a good experience. They exceeded my expectations and I have to say, for someone that thinks of their pets as their kids... you couldn't ask for anyone better. I feel like Dr. Evergreen not only understands animals on a professional level but also a personal level. He does what needs to be done, and I feel like he does the least invasive thing first. I honestly feel like he has a genuine care for animals and that... sadly is rare to find in a lot of vet's. After taking my dog and two cats to him, I couldn't be more pleased. My dog was not doing well and after going to Dr. Evergreen, getting her medicine switched and being put on herbal supplements.. she is acting like a puppy again. Our cat had a health scare about two months ago where she was constantly vomiting for days and my husband and I were worried she may have swallowed something and it got lodged in her intestines. Dr. Evergreen gave our cat a check-up and felt her stomach and was very confident (without doing an x-ray) that she had an upset stomach due to the acidity of her saliva or from a hairball. He gave her some herbal treatment to settle her stomach and within a day she stopped throwing up and started eating/drinking as normal. Dr Brad has the secret touch that animals trust him, respond to him, and are never,ever afraid of him. He is in a league of his own. Fortunately I heard about him at a Westie meeting and he diagnosed and solve my dogs problem, after local vets tried and failed multiple times. Dr. Evergreen is by far the best Vet in the area. I drive from Everett out to his practice in Monroe and it is well worth it. I recently took my 16 year old cat to a local vet in Everett and the vet was not very thorough and I left with no resolution. I knew my Woody (cat) was still in pain and took him to Dr. Evergreen (where we should have gone in the very beginning). Dr. Evergreen took the time to look at Woody, discuss his symptoms and have the blood work from the previous vet faxed over to his practice. It turned out to only be a bad tooth which the other vet missed or didn't bother to look at. Dr. Evergreen then made time that same night to extract the tooth so Woody would no longer be in pain. His practice then called the next morning to check in and see how Woody was doing. We have a dog and 2 other cats and we will only be going to Dr. Evergreen from now on. read more
