This has been my go to spot for years - they were the only Chinese take out that made dumpling wrappers from scratch and I would travel 30 min to get it, but that has sadly come to an end. I ordered my usual steamed dumplings and pan fried wontons in Szechuan sauce and both were a HUGE disappointment. Dumplings seemed to be frozen, as the wrappers were thin and the filling was different and the wontons are normally boiled and then pan fried in the sauce were deep fried and crispy then tossed in the sauce. We went to try them again. The egg rolls were sooo good, wonton soup and hot an sour soup very good. My husband got pork egg food young. Very good balanced veggies. Before it was almost onion Patty's. We did not get general Tsos chicken, last time it was terrible.sonow we get it at Walmarts deli it's sold by the piece and very good. Chinese food is generally cheap to make and good on the profit margin. I found Evergreen and surprisingly, the food quality was better than any other that I have had, in the area. First time Chinese locations, I always give them a test-Crab Rangoon, Shrimp Fried Rice, and Pepper Steak. The rangoon shell was perfect golden brown and molten globs of creamy goodness inside. The fried rice had more shrimp than I could eat in a single sitting, and the pepper steak was tender, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. I'm a trained chef and its good to sample the work of others. I could not have done better, myself. read more

I have ordered takeout from here several times and it's beenndelicious every time. I HIGHLY recommend the wontons in spicy szechuan sauce and the dumplings in garlic sauce. I get both every time I go. They are always PHENOMENAL. The chicken teriyaki strips and the soups are also excellent as are the pan-fried noodle dishes, lo mein and Singapore Chow Mei Fun. Everything I've had here has been consistently GREAT! The restaurant is easy to get to... Its in a strip mall by a Publix whuch is very convenient. I've been buying food from Evergreen here since 2014-2015. The food has always been delicious and pretty affordable. I stopped coming here for years due to a horrible experience I had with an associate (a white women with very short hair who also did delivery). We recently moved back to the area and I decided to give this place another try. The quality of the food is still amazing and fairly affordable. However, I've had 2 experiences here that hasn't sat right with me. I got our typical order and placed it via BeyondMenu before closing at 8:29PM. I got the House Lo Mein, Chicken Wings, Cream Cheese Wontons, and mixed veggies with white rice. When I got home, the mixed vegetables had a very bitter taste as if it was out for a long time. We did not eat it. On the website and physical menu, the chicken wings are advertised as $6.25 for *5* wings. We only received 4. The lo mein was dry which isn't typical. It was late and our son needed to eat so we ate the wings and lo mein and I made a note to call in the afternoon. I called and was told that I could either get it replaced or refunded. I got there and told the associate about how I only received 4 wings instead of 5. She informed me that if the wings are big they only give you 4, not 5. And due to the cost of chicken wings increasing, they change the count on a case by case basis. I told her that the wings weren't big by any means and regardless if they were, your menu says that I get 5 for that cost, not 4. If that is the case, the menu needs to reflect that. She told me there's absolutely nothing that she can do for me because she wasn't there the previous night. It truly did frustrate me because they are not being transparent with their customers and expect us to be okay with a change like that without disclosing it. We received 2 flats and 2 small drumsticks. There wasn't anything significant change in the size of the wings that we typically get. I understand that it's just 1 wing, however, the principal is important. Being open and transparent with your customers about changes. The food is good and we probably will continue to get food from Evergreen until we move because the quality of Chinese food in Polk isn't as good as it is in Baltimore. If you decide to get food here please double check your food and make sure you're getting what you're being charged for. read more

Excellent Chinese food. Take out or delivery only. We had a special order due to allergy to mushrooms and shrimp. The handling of that request was perfect and did. Not compromise the order at all. The only knock is that the pork spare ribs were tough and did not fall off the bone as it should. Everything else was A+ including fried rice, spicy mei fun and Chinese mixed vegetables. Dad and I have been loyal to this brand, but not any more. The quality that we got with our last order 1 general tso chicken and the other was veggie egg foo young. Dad had inedible food that was fried in a really hot wok and they were really hard. Should never have been coated and boxed up. Mine was also made hot and one was so terrible it went into the trash. So thinking after I tried the general Tsos and man they really were hard. So I drove back up and told them who I was because we had called first. I really wanted them to see what I was speaking about. They stated it is posted no returns. I asked if it was a good idea to sell me food that is so overcooked my 92 year old father can't eat it and they fall back on a sign. I gave them the 2 meals and I walked, I will never buy anything there again. I can get great food so many places. What else would they serve me? When we pay 10.00 bucks a meal that we take home we need to demand more. read more

BEWARE. This restaurant has "decent" food, but they use an AWFUL online ordering service - "BeyondMenu". The Co. sent me an email *confirmation* that my order was placed, only to get to the restaurant and the order was NOT there. It was put on "hold" until BeyondMenu "verified my card info"- even though I have purchased thru them BEFORE! ...and Evergreen MADE NO EFFORT to re-do my order (didn't even OFFER), help me out, or keep my business ...I wasted my entire short lunch period due to this! Absolutely nothing standard about this Chinese food, if you've ever eaten New York style Chinese Food this place will bring back memories of old NYC. Every fork full of my meal made me say OMG.... I had the general tso chicken combo, my wife had the Chicken and Broccoli and my daughter had the Fried Shrimp and pork fried rice. My wife and I agree they have one of the best testing Pork egg rolls we have ever tasted . This is my family's favorite Chinese takeout. We've tried numerous establishments and Evergreen is hands-down the best. A few years back, it was your average takeout, nothing too good or too bad. But, since then it has progressively gotten better. It's clean and the staff is very friendly. The food is fresh and the ingredients are of good quality. Our favorite Chinese dish has always been Sweet&Sour chicken. Most places I've ordered this, the chicken was fatty, chewy, and had that grayish color. But Evergreen's is crisp, tender, white meat chicken that is so delicious. Honestly there isn't a dish we've tried here that we haven't liked. I can't say enough great things about Evergreen. I drive from Lakeland anytime we are in the mood for Chinese takeout. I highly recommend this place! read more

This is a great place for yummy take out. We just had general tso chicken and it was amazing. The combo meal includes entree, fried rice and egg roll. We also ordered cheese crab wontons ( crab Rangoon) and they were also delicious. The portions for the combo meals are huge and we could only eat half, so we now will have leftovers, which is always nice. Great service, price and taste. Their vegetable dishes are excellent! The vegetables in both the vegetable fried rice and lo mein are perfectly cooked to our liking with just a little crispness to them. The pea pods are wonderful and the onions are perfectly sautéed to a nice translucence with no under- or overcooking. They use fresh mushrooms which are also perfectly cooked. The rice was moist and tender - not dry at all. The spring rolls are very good as well and have a hint of ginger flavor. We get our dishes to go and they pack the containers extremely well. The quart size is enough for at least two meals. read more
