We were in the vicinity and desired some Chinese takeout for the trip home. Yelp gave this place good reviews so we went for it. The parking lot sucks, but that won't detract from my review of the food and service. Once inside it a fairly nondescript establishment with a couple of tables in the lobby to sit at while you wait, or eat there if you were inclined (no thanks). The place was fairly busy for a weekday late afternoon, with patrons picking up food and/or placing orders. A few folks you could tell were regular customers, which in itself is a good sign. I ordered the 'Hawaii Five O' which listed crispy shrimp, scallops, chicken, beef, roast pork and vegetables. The wife (aka better half) ordered the 'two item special' of honey chicken and chicken Teriyaki. We also ordered a side of fried pork wontons and crab rangoon. The wait was not very long and the bag felt like it weighed 10 pounds when it was handed off. On the 35 minute drive home the little lady consumed half the wontons and stated they were quite good, which I would agree with later. Both of our entrees were HUGE. They provided plenty of fried and white rice. My Hawaii Five O was very tasty and the better half enjoyed her selection(s) as well. The portions were so big that we had leftovers the following day. The next day I added some red pepper flakes to kick mine up a notch. Neither day was I disappointed. The service was efficient and pleasant enough. If we are in this part of Lakeland in the future and get a hankering for Chinese takeout we would definitely patronize the place again. Oh yeah, the Hawaii Five O at the end of the description had "lobster" listed. This was either a misprint or if there was a piece in it it was minute. Quick and so tasty. I stopped in on my way home from work and had my order taken in less than a minute. I was told I could have a seat and it would be about 15 minutes, it was more like five. Got takeout last night. First time here in a while. Didn't have a very good experience the first time but this time was much better. Best Chinese food we've had in the 7 yrs we've been in the area- moved from the Northeast and the Chinese food is completely different there. Their spare ribs are like up north's pork strips, Singapore Noodles were spicy and delicious. Kung Pao chicken and Chicken Curry were super flavorful and great size portions. Mayflower Chinese Restaurant gets four stars, just for the safety protocols. I strongly recommend you call in your order. The line outside can be long. No one can enter the restaurant, an employee will greet you at the door to place or pick up your order. Hand sanitizer and eating utensils are located outside on a table. My daughter ordered Wontons, Fried shrimp, and rice. The wontons were average, some of the wontons had very little filling. The food was fresh and the customer service was great. read more

There's much to want to like about this Chinese fast food stop--their menu is different than the others, with lunch specials and combo meals and double combos (double entrees). They have a couple Thai dishes and some unique regular food items that others don't. They sub Crab Rangoon for eggrolls. They deliver. Their food is hit or miss though, like others-a flat Rangoon, no spice and no sour in the hot and sour soup (though stocked well), great orange chicken but some chicken pieces inferior. The biggest turn off for me is the rude female at the counter. She doesn't seem to enjoy her job and treats customers like an inconvenience. At one point I got up to watch the wok cooking and was told to "Sit down and wait!" The seating area is shabby--3 tables, no wall photos, chairs strewn, appeared dirty (floor). This is IMO the best, most consistent Chinese restaurant in Lakeland. There are several other CRs nearer to my home- but this is my favorite. One of the top aspects that sets Mayflower apart is the high quality of the ingredients they use! They raised their prices during the early days of the pandemic but I don't mind! read more

This is my second time here I was so thrilled the first time. I got the pupu platter and the special Mei fun. Absolutely delicious. I was so dissatisfied the next visit. I got moo shu pork. First thing I noticed was no white rice. I realize every place is different but I have had this dish dozens of times and it always has it. The pancakes were not pancakes they were squares that the food burst through immediately. And the dish itself was like no moo shu I have ever had. I took several bites even after it fell out of the pancake and and it just kept getting worse. Due to this experience I will not be back. read more

Unimpressed and kind of surprised about the good reviews. Someone compared it to NYC Chinese.. it's far from that. No chicken in the sweet and sour, not crispy and very greasy. Egg roll was mushy/greasy, the fried rice had no flavor what so ever and the krab Rangoon was just straight up fried cream cheese. If you want better and more flavorful Chinese in lakeland make the drive to China one off of Lakeland highlands.
