I went to MOMA and ordered a sandwich with gluten free bread. I was blown away by how delicious the bread was (I so miss regular bread!) and asked the server to find out where the bread was from. I commissioned my birthday cake from here after being faced with lots of stomach issues the past year. I was SO happy to receive a cake that was gluten, dairy, nut, corn, AND soy free!! I have been ordering Everybody Eat's bread for quite a few years and have it shipped to North Carolina between 2 to 3 times per year. I read about it in a review of a NY restaurant. I am a picky food person. For me, this is the best gluten free bread made. It has taste, great mouth feel and freezes well. My bread arrives boxed and in perfect condition and I pop it into the freezer. It remains tasting wonderful throughout its life and the quality of ingredients used in baking is first rate. The baguettes are truly amazing with their crispy outside, light and chewy inside. I've been here several times to stock my freezer and I can't wait to go back. Please note, the location is a bit hard to find. Keep an eye out for a small sign on the door. Once inside, you stand in a doorway barely big enough for a person, but don't let that deter you. We found this shop within the first few weeks of my forced gluten fast, and boy was it needed. First, know that the exterior is a little weird. You see some random sign on this brick warehouse looking place that says gluten free with an arrow pointing to a small door. It is not a trap. That door is in fact the shop. Go inside and you'll see a small office. You've arrived. Don't be scared, it's a legit operation with excellent gluten free goods. I've yet to try the bread, but the cinnamon rolls and short bread cookies are fantastic. There's a hint of difference in the cinnamon roll dough, but it's still incredibly delicious. However, the cookie was nearly identical to its gluten counterpart. (Please note I tried this early into my gluten free lifestyle, so I do remember what a cinnamon roll and shortbread taste like.) She has celiacs disease and cannot eat any type of wheat flower or normal cake at all. We usually go the route of buying a gluten free cake from some where that is boring, flat and flavorless. This little place has the best gluten free options ever! My wife and I have a gluten allergy. So this place has amazing gluten free food. Two of the options we had were cinnabon's and deli rolls. First off the cinnabon's taste extremely fresh with delicious icing. You can eat it cold or microwave for a few seconds. Probably the best gluten free cinnabon you can get. The deli rolls are also incredibly fresh and not like the crumbly tasteless Udi bread. They are very soft and just like a deli roll! They have many more options that we have not tried yet. Don't make the same mistake as me coming here thinking it's a store front bakery. When they're open and you walk in the windowless front door there are two more doors, one to small office where the owner does his business and the other is to a kitchen where he does the baking. I'm convinced this is the best gluten-free bakery in the world. Unless and until someone proves to me otherwise, I stand firm on that statement. My doctor diagnosed me with gluten intolerance in 2012. I spent months trying different gluten-free baked goods and breads. I finally resigned myself to the fact that good gluten-free bread just didn't exist and that I would just have to accept it. Then, in the spring of 2013 while having a business dinner at Nomad, my life changed. I asked our waiter if there was a gluten-free bread option and while I was pleased that there was an option available, I didn't have high expectations. When he sat the bread basket in front of me, he informed me they got their gluten-free breads from a specialty bakery in Brooklyn called Everybody Eats. I took one bite of a thick slice of the white bread with a pat of salted butter. The texture was lightly crunchy on the outside, giving way to a chewy, warm center. This was NOT like any gluten-free bread I'd ever had before. In fact, it was better than any regular flour-based bread I'd had before. I couldn't believe what I was experiencing. Right there at the dinner table, in front of a group of business colleagues, with bread in my mouth, tears formed in my eyes. Yes, you read that correctly. I cried at a business dinner over having delicious gluten-free bread. Something I legitimately believed I would never be able to experience again in my lifetime. Among the best (if not the best) gf bread! I went on a Saturday to the "store" in Brooklyn. When I first walked into the building, there was a closed door in front of me and a closed door to my right. I went for the door in front of me...and walked into the kitchen. Then I tried the door to my right. It's the office, but it was the right place to be to order bread. The two owners were incredibly nice, and offered me a gf chocolate chip cookie while I looked at the list of breads. I eventually ordered the multi-grain loaf, a baguette, and deli rolls. The breads are given to you frozen and need to be heated up. I had dreams of getting fresh, gf bread hot from the over; but it was not to be. My favorite of the three breads was the multi-grain loaf. In addition to rice flour, it has buckwheat flour, sorghum flour and various seeds (poppy, sesame, flax). It has a complex flavor and a genuine crust (none too common on gf breads). The baguette tasted like I remember non-gf baguettes tasting. Ditto with the deli rolls, which were great hot with butter. Note that Saturday is the only day of the week when you can walk in (without calling beforehand) and buy items. Monday through Friday, you can call in an order an pick it up. Or find a store in your neighborhood that carries Everybody Eats bread. Also note that it's cheaper if you go into the store than if you buy the bread at a retail store or order it online. read more

This place is nestled on a residential block on 3rd Ave. Upon entering, we were greeted by Bruce who is the owner and super friendly. He gave his suggestions on what was worth trying or highly rated. We placed our orders and got our gluten-free goodies. The Chocolate Chips cookies are delicious! The pizza shells are very nice if you're into thin crust, crunchy pizza. all you have to do is put your own sauce and toppings and bake. The multigrain bread was also good for 'gluten free.' The bread requires refrigeration/freezer since there's no preservatives. So toasting the bread is a must. They also have banan bread, raviolis and other delicious sounding goodies on the menu. I had the opportunity to get an owner-led tour and free samples of Everybody Eats products via a Meetup.com event hosted by the New York City Celiac Disease Meetup Group. It was great to have the opportunity to try samples of almost all their products and talk to the hospitable co-owners, Pedro and Bruce. Pedro - a celiac himself - showed me around/chatted with me for a good half hour even after everyone else had left, since I showed up quite late to the meetup event. I got lots of delicious samples and left happy with my purchases. Both owners were very hospitable, offering me cold beverages as relief from the outside heat and not showing any rushedness or annoyance at taking extra time to show me around on account of my lateness. They do a great job with their gluten free baked goods, obviously taking great care to perfect their recipes. Pedro mentioned that his engineering background helps with the tinkering and precision that baking - especially GF baking - calls for. I think they do such a good job that most people wouldn't be able to distinguish between their products and glutenous baked goods. Everything I tried - pizza, cookies, cinnamon buns and several kinds of bread, was wonderfully tasteful and well-textured. I will certainly be back for more. Call ahead to place orders, order online or drop by the office-kitchen (not a storefront) on Saturdays. And if you like the products as much as I do, tell your local grocery store you want them to carry Everybody Eats products - they'll listen to customers, not salespeople. read more

This is not a restaurant, I don't think. But I could only add this business info with the "gluten-free" category if I selected "restaurant." My mother in law lives in New York and orders stuff for my husband from here and shipping takes 3-5 days from New York to San Francisco. She also orders stuff for my SIL who lives in the south bay. One time the baguettes came and were moldy, due to the fact that they were frozen then boxed and shipped out during summer, when the heat caused the bagged baguettes to mold. We told MIL and she called up Everybody Eats and they had a new six-pack of baguettes shipped out to us in 10 days. The baguettes are pretty close to the real thing (if you toast them right). The cookies are also pretty good (crunchier than regular cookies, of course, but as close as cookies made with wheat as possible). Of course, specialty food plus delivery cross country is not cheap. But the customer service is great. The gentleman (I think he is Bruce) always calls me to let me know they have shipped such and such and tells me when to expect my package. This is a good business with good business practice. Though we haven't personally ordered from them due to cost, I'm thankful my MIL does it for us! Also, I'd like to point out that my MIL and FIL order/buy from them all the time since they live in NY. Also, whenever we're in NY, MIL always serves Everybody Eats baguettes during meal times (but for us non-Celiacs we get regular baguettes - it's cheaper). I have bites of my husband's GF foods here and there, but because they cost so much I can't justify changing my dietary habits to GF yet. I highly recommend these products. read more

The gluten-free, dairy-free chicken ravioli from everybody eats was fantastic! It boiled up in just 10 minutes from frozen, is enough for 3 meals, and is delicious. The chicken was real meat and well seasoned (not too much) and the pasta hearty and filling. This is better than the ravioli I remember from my youth. I can eat gluten and dairy, and I liked it very much even compared to "the real thing". My gf/df beau was very pleased. I made a quickie homemade tomato sauce using sauteed veggies and a gf/df creamy tomato soup. My beau also raved about their gf/df sub rolls (good toasted, and as a sandwich) as well as the gf/df challah. I wish more stores carried products from Everybody Eats, and I hope that they expand their line of Gluten free/Dairly free products. Thankfully, they mail order and it's worth it! read more

Wow, best gluten free bread I've had the pleasure of trying. I picked up a baguette today and warmed it in the oven, when it felt hard, I thought I had overcooked it and it would be dry and crumbly. To my surprise, it ended up with a crunchy crust on the outside but soft fluffy and yummy on the inside. SO GOOD! I can't wait to try the pizza crust, couldn't resist bringing some home. this is everything i could want in a gluten free bakery: it's "mom and pop" (actually, dad and son); it's just a bakery--no bells and whistles; and their baked breads and pastries are far better than anything I've tasted over the years. I get the Challah for thick French Toast; the white bread for sandwiches; the sourdough is great for soup and salad. And just a few weeks ago, I tasted a new pinapple cake that was mouthwatering. I'm writing two days after my birthday celebration, and I couldn't have been happier with my GF cake! This is a strange place, tucked away in what appears to be an apartment building. The door was locked but I followed the arrow to the side doors. Through a process of elimination I found one door which was open and lead directly into the baking area. To my surprise, there wasn't a storefront - just the bakery and the business office. The owner took me into his office and gave me a sample of a sugar cookie. I bought a few things but wasn't able to get much because I didn't have much money. This is on this high end of the GF spectrum - about $12 per loaf for bread. It was very good, but nothing was so incredible that I went back. Would buy again if sold in stores. read more

Since yelp doesn't have a rating option of 69 stars, 5 will have to suffice. I had the pleasure of eating an Everybody Eats roll at Bistango last winter (see my review). That roll has left an indelible mark on my heart and my tummy. And my tummy never forgets. Fast forward to a nice September afternoon. I just finished a 4 mile run with a girlfriend and was feeling antsy so I googled Everybody Eats Little to my knowledge, they were located a half an hour walk from me. I kissed the boyfriend goodbye and skipped off towards the Gowanus. I think I actually did skip. Embarrassingly, I scoured 3rd Ave up and down and could not find the store. I had to go into the pizza store across the street (which sells gluten free slices made with Everybody Eats pizza crust)! to ask where the office was. I was pointed across the street, to a townhouse. There was a big friendly open sign so I walked up the stairs to a small office. The owner, Pedro, shook my hand and noticed my jogging outfit. I told him I went for a run and he immediately offered me a free choco-chip cookie. YES! The cookie was really good and did not have the usual gluten-free crumbly texture. I mentioned that I tried his rolls back at Bistango and how I've been dreaming of the day to procure them. He luckily made my gluten-free fantasies come true when he pulled out two baguettes. These baguettes...LOOKED LIKE ACTUAL BAGUETTES!!!!!!!!! I bought two for 8 dollars, not bad, considering that I have not had a baguette in 3 years. I asked about the pumpkin ravioli (another thing that I have not eaten in 3 years) and he said to come back in a couple of months. Honestly, my quality life has improved so much by being able to eat sandwiches again. I cannot recommend this place highly enough to anyone who is a fellow celiac. I ventured to this spot today looking specifically for gluten free bagels based on the glowing reviews on Yelp and was disappointed to find out they no longer make bagels. I did not leave disappointed though! I was greeted with a delicious sugar cookie sample and although I did not purchase them (they only sell them by the 1lb and it was too much for me. Instead I went with the banana bread & challah loaf, which I am enjoying as I write this review. As a gluten and lactose intolerant person who is also allergic to nuts, chocolate and so many other foods it can be challenging to find baked goods that won't send me to the hospital. Since the owner is celiac I immediately knew I could trust Everybody Eats and I was not wrong. This is definitely going to be on my list for first spots to visit every time I'm in NY. The quick tip: *fantastic gluten free/egg free/dairy free/nut free challah that's akin to an airy angel food cake and tastes like real challah when used for french toast; *perfect texture gluten free/nut free chocolate chip cookies that are just the right size; *phenomenal gluten free/nut free sugar cookies that are actually BUTTERY and FLAKY. Not a single unpleasant taste lingered after any of these treats, even though xantham gum is used.
