He told me I had to try the croissant because it was from a local bakery, and it was voted the #1 croissant in New York by the NY Daily News. I took a bite, and he was right! This is such a cute little French deli--how could I hate? The quiches looked scrumptious, but I ended up getting two tarts: chocolate ($5) and almond apricot ($6). The chocolate tart was stale, goopy, and way too sweet, but it was redeemed by the almond tart, which was so crisp and buttery, with a fluffy and moist almond filling. It's probably hit or miss depending on whether you happen to choose something baked fresh or left over from the day before. ALSO!!! A large coffee is $3 which is an absolute STEAL. read more

I also tried the mini apple turnover, but the filling is lacking. I also highly recommend the quiches here. Bring them home and reheat for enhanced taste. Considering the photos of all the goodies in here, we were expecting everything to be good. I think the food is 3.5 stars at best. We ordered two croissants, a fruit tart, a strawberry cheesecake and a madeleine. They have posters saying they have the best croissants in NY so we were looking forward to it but honestly everything was just mediocre at best. Croissant was pretty good but that's about it. The strawberry cheesecake tasted weird! The Strawberry on top to the cheesecake itself, I would completely skip next time. The tart was just okay but the custard on there is not what I'm used to having from other shops- it felt thicker and the taste just wasnt there. The madeleine was just okay- also would skip. Ok a bit too ballsy to claim best croissants in the city, but truthfully they were not bad. It's a good neighborhood spot. My favorite was the fact that after scouring all sorts of specialty French grocers in the city I finally found my long sought Mirabelle jams here. They also have traditional baguettes and love that they make a distinction. What an amazing place to grab a banquet and a coffee. While you are at it, please get a croissant and all those pastries. This is the spot but definitely come early or it will be very busy. We got here around 9 am on a Sunday but that is cutting it a little. This is the ideal French pastry spot in the neighborhood. You can find some pretty unique stuff here. The service is very quick and to the point. They can use some smile but it's French style probably. The croissant has all the butter layers but can use some perfection. It was a choice on a whim! Croissant was really flaky. Chocolate croissant was good. The bacon spinach quiche was out of this world. Apricot tart was very tasty. Lastly, you have to get the eclair mango passion fruit, we all had a taste and we should have went back in to get another one to get more than one bite. We stumbled across Schweppes soda too! The inside of the place is a legit French market. We were helped right on the spot and it was made as it was ordered. The other baked items I bought were hit or miss I came on a Sunday and there was a little line that went pretty quickly- always a good sign Here's what I've tried so far: -traditional baguette- this is a bit more expensive than their other baguette. The cashier told me it was chewier and I was pleased with my choice -classic croissant- flaky and messy to eat, as a croissant should be. My boyfriend found it a little salty but I thought it was awesome -chocolate cupcake (called something like explosion or secret?)- filled with an oozing chocolatey center- very good -red velvet cupcake- fine, but nothing special. No special flavor and the cake itself was a bit dry -rainbow cookie- SO disappointing. It was rock hard and just tasted old. We ate it the same day we bought it. I ordered a strawberry tart from DoorDash and received it in a box with the word "suicide" written on it. I called the store to find out why that was written on the box. They said they have a cupcake named suicide and they used the box for that previously then used the box for my order. First of all, I find it in poor taste to name any food suicide. It was jolting to see it on the box and I thought it was a very bad prank. And second of all, I don't think it's sanitary to reuse food containers in this manner. read more

This place has become a go to for us about once a month . We will order for pick up and take it home for dinner. We keep ordering the Classic French Ham & Cheese Crossaint and the Le Mixte. I like to make French Martinis at home to enjoy with it. Silly? Sure. But whatever. We have also enjoyed the La Dinde Sandwich and the Nutella & Banana Crossaint (but who wouldn't enjoy something with Nutella?) Some of the desserts we have tried include the blueberry tart and apple tart (heat them up a little bit when you get them home), the Creme Brûlée, the brownie and cheesecake. The waitress completely screwed up my order, then had the nerve to charge me for a whole new drink. But when I asked for just half-and-half to make my drink a little bit better, she had the nerve to tell me that she had to charge me extra for milk when I already spent extra for oat milk. So you're telling me that you guys can't give me a courtesy of giving me milk to fix my drink? that your waitress messed up. I will never be going back to this place again. read more

I love this place! Makes me feel like I'm back in Paris in the 15th Arrondissement. This is a little French Store and the products are France. From the pasta, sauces, jam, cheeses and drinks. Since my first post, I've gone there again twice to get their delicious croissants and once more to pick up a fruit tart for Mother's Day. The fruit tart is so delicious, I highly recommend them for any occasion. The fruits were sweet and my family really loved the crust. It cost $29 for a 10-inch tart which was well worth it! Please note that the bakery does have some cakes available in store (cheesecake, pies, chocolate cakes) but during they are being made and sold in limited quantities. I recommend calling in advance to ensure you get the cake you want..as long as you call to reserve, they will make it for you! read more

Their croissants (plain, whole wheat - love that they have this!, and almond) are some of the best I've had, even my mom approved when she visited! Their breakfast is delicious. It's a little on the pricey side but definitely worth it! Lattes are good too. As far as their other pastries, they're somewhat hit or miss. Love: Eco paper packaging for delivery including compostable silverware. This alone is leading my 5 Star rating, all restaurants should do this. I would pay extra for a paper straw in the future. Like: All the foods I've tried including delicious breads, pastries, croissants, salad, homemade chips. The ham and cheese croissant sandwich béchamel is to die for. I wish the goat cheese and spinach omelet had a little more cheese. The restaurant itself has a cafe vibe with a few large tables great for a meetings. A good selection of packaged French goodies to take home as well. Neutral: Le French Tart ice tea, not the regular ice tea. It sounded delicious with lots of herbs and flowers but I agree with a Seamless review I read that it tastes like cough syrup. Lots of other delicious options to try next time. Been exploring different parts of Brooklyn.. trying to get out of my comfort zone. Last New Years Eve I convinced my friends to ring in the New Year by celebrating at Nostro. I've always passed Nostro when taking the bus. We really liked Nostro and I made a mental note to come back to Prospect Avenue. Today I decided to catch a quick snack at Le French Tart. I hadn't eaten at all due to yoga and running errands. Thus I decided to cheat a bit and craved a mini quiche. There are many varieties to try: spinach and bacon, zucchini and mozzarella, broccoli and cheddar and the old standby ham and Swiss. All sounded delicious but the zucchini caught my eye. The size was just right for a quick bite and it was savory and delicious. It was warmed up and served by a friendly employee. There is an extensive menu: sandwiches, (croque Monsieur), salads, omelette, wraps and crepes made with buckwheat flour. The dessert display case featured delicious options: Black Forest cakes, cheese cakes, crumb tortes and my fave the Assorted Fruit Tart Cake. There are mini versions, macaroons, turnovers and humentash, I tried the apricot humentash and it was delicious. They also sell beverages, Karina and Jeff soups, olive oil etc The establishment is cozy with round tables to dine at. They do sell Knick knacks that are French themed. Le French Tart is easy to get to via the R train to Prospect Avenue and about 8 minute walk or the B63 bus that stops about a block away. All in all worth the trip from Bay Ridge! read more

I used to love this place and the quality was certainly there in the beginning, but I think the owner expanded too quickly, and the output of his present selection of goods has been compromised. His quiches used to be well cooked and delicious, they now taste almost raw in the center. Maybe he should think about that and do a spot check of his goods. Quality is not what it used to be. The only thing that keeps me coming back is the really nice female workers who have been at the store for several years now and worked there throughout Covid. 1 star is for incredibly poor customer service. This happened yesterday morning. I placed a pickup order on Uber Eats and wait time was 10-20 min. 10 min later, I received a notification that my food was ready for pickup so I walked over. When I got there, they told me it would be 15 more min because they were "prioritizing other customers" and to move aside. Now I understand being busy on a Saturday morning, but the people working behind the counter were just plain rude. I ended up waiting at the store for 40 min on top of the 15 min waiting for the online order. It would have been quicker to go there and order. But there was one woman behind the counter that just made the experience unpleasant. I will not go back nor will I recommend this place to anyone else. read more

Walking in felt like I was back meandering the corner bakeries that are sprinkled everywhere in Paris as common as our bodegas--and seeing some of my favourite snacks from overseas available here was truly heartwarming. My partner and I were walking the dog in the area and decided to finally give this spot a visit and I'm so glad we did! Not only are they one of the few cafes open at 6:30AM on weekdays, they also had a lot of FRESHLY baked breads already available when we popped in. I grabbed 3 mini tarts, croissant, a french roll, and a vegetable quiche. the bread was still warm and perfectly doughy when we dug into it and the croissant was buttery and satisfyingly flaky, along with all of the other pastries. It's definitely not diet food, but it's a little taste of France that I appreciate having in the neighborhood and we'll certainly fold it into our morning rotation! read more

I'm mad about an incident involving Brie cheese I purchased here a couple days ago, so I'm leaving this review to get it out of my system. It was from one of the fridges, and when I got home and opened it it was covered in mold. I was really looking forward to the cheese so this was the lowlight of my week. It wasn't expired or opened, but it was moldy. Ugh! I'm giving this place five stars because these things happen and it's a cute shop to have in the neighborhood. Charming and spacious little cafe with quality offerings for breakfast, lunch or a light dinner. This place is beyond authentically French - the next customer after me on a sleepy Sunday afternoon picked up a baguette being held for her and conversed with the owner in French for a bit before taking off. I tried a ratatouille crêpe, which was just a perfect example of a savory crepe - light and fresh, but still filling and satisfying. The veggies tasted incredibly fresh. I could have gone for a bit more goat cheese on it, but then, I could always go for more cheese on anything. The pastry selection looked glorious and tempting, but I was coming from the gym and managed to refrain. The shop also has a shopping area of French specialty products - I haven't seen this many cornichons, mustard, and lentils on one shelf since staying in the Loire. The products are expensive, as I guess you'd expect from imports. Not for everyday shopping, but great for a special meal. Honestly, it felt a lot like one of those ex-pat shops set up in/for a neighborhood with a slew of said ex-pats clamoring for a sense of the local, something I'd maybe expect more in Carroll Gardens. I'm not aware of this neighborhood having a huge French population. As a local Francophile, however, I'm glad it has opened on our South Slope shores. read more

A cozy little place with some amazing croissants! They bake on premise (in the morning when I go) so it's some of the freshest croissants I've ever tasted. Definitely try their almond croissant, it's not like any other almond croissant I've seen before. At first I thought it was a cookie because it's flattened. I will admit it didn't look appealing at first glance but so glad I decided to get it. It has some powder sugar on top but it's filled with almond paste and slightly gooey inside. It's really good! The crepe I had here was so yummy. I got La Foret with mushrooms Swiss and béchamel. The other options on the menu look good too, pretty simple. I ate there, they brought out the crepe on a disposable plate, with wooden utensils (yay recycling!), but the wooden fork and knife were a little weird to eat a crepe with a side salad with. Wow what wonderful tasty sandwiches. We've ordered through Seamless but it has to become a place to visit since we live in the area. I had today the Le Bonjour Sub. I have to say it was the best grilled chicken sandwich I ever had from a shop. Sliced thin and so tasty with the mustard. My husband the La Rillette de Canard Sandwich. Which in his own words was absolutely delicious. Their macarons are great and perfectly prepared, I love the Lavender and Violet Cassis. Tonight we shall try the cupcakes Carrot, German Chocolate and Red Velvet. Which I am sure will be simply delicious. I will need to see about ordering one of the Boeuf Bourguignon and Blanquette de veau when I don't have the time to make my own. read more
