    Almond Croissant
    Will N.

Wasn't a croissant fan I tried THIS almond croissant. Didn't expect the pressed technique, but I love it. I totally understand the hype and recommendations now. The rest of the pastry items look fresh and tasty as well--I want to go back and try other items for sure.

    Cute window sign.

I took a late-night flight into town and the next morning my friend had coffee and breakfast waiting. He told me I had to try the croissant because it was from a local bakery, and it was voted the #1 croissant in New York by the NY Daily News. I took a bite, and he was right! My oh my, it was one of the best I've tasted. Layers of buttery, flaky pastry. Perfectly crisp on the edges and fluffy inside. I happened to pass by the shop the next day during my morning run, so I stopped to check it out. The case was loaded with freshly baked goods and other delicious treats. Owner/Chef Laurent is from France, so you are getting authentic French pastries. They also sell a variety of cheeses & other gourmet items.

Q5. Spinach and Bacon Quiche Spinach Croissant Mini apple turnover

There's a wide variety of baked goods here and everything looks super fresh. My go-to is the spinach and feta croissant. The croissant layers and texture are amazing! I also tried the mini apple turnover, but the filling is lacking. I also highly recommend the quiches here. Bring them home and reheat for enhanced taste. The next item I would come back to try is the almond croissant and tart.

Considering the photos of all the goodies in here, we were expecting everything to be good. I think the food is 3.5 stars at best. We ordered two croissants, a fruit tart, a strawberry cheesecake and a madeleine. They have posters saying they have the best croissants in NY so we were looking forward to it but honestly everything was just mediocre at best. Croissant was pretty good but that's about it. The strawberry cheesecake tasted weird! The Strawberry on top to the cheesecake itself, I would completely skip next time. The tart was just okay but the custard on there is not what I'm used to having from other shops- it felt thicker and the taste just wasnt there. The madeleine was just okay- also would skip. Come for croissants but I would skip everything else, even though everything in the display case looks good.

    Macaroons

This place is tres manifique, it's like a trip to France w/o leaving Brooklyn. The crossant a are really flaky and good, the coffee is nice n strong, macaroons! So good! The baguette yum. The vacuum packed meats ( suppressata, salami, chorizo ) n cheeses will make the charcuterie look amazing. The place recently got renovated so it's easier to navigate n not so chaotic as before. Give this place a try, your tummy will be happy you did.

Ok a bit too ballsy to claim best croissants in the city, but truthfully they were not bad. It's a good neighborhood spot. My favorite was the fact that after scouring all sorts of specialty French grocers in the city I finally found my long sought Mirabelle jams here. They also have traditional baguettes and love that they make a distinction. There are seats outside, perfect little bench for people watching, while ripping apart a loaf and dipping in jam.

What an amazing place to grab a banquet and a coffee. While you are at it, please get a croissant and all those pastries. This is the spot but definitely come early or it will be very busy. We got here around 9 am on a Sunday but that is cutting it a little. This is the ideal French pastry spot in the neighborhood. You can find some pretty unique stuff here. The service is very quick and to the point. They can use some smile but it's French style probably. The croissant has all the butter layers but can use some perfection. Btw this place is more of a grocery spot then a cafe. No space to sit except take it outside with 2 metal bench.

I ordered a strawberry tart from DoorDash and received it in a box with the word "suicide" written on it. I called the store to find out why that was written on the box. They said they have a cupcake named suicide and they used the box for that previously then used the box for my order. First of all, I find it in poor taste to name any food suicide. It was jolting to see it on the box and I thought it was a very bad prank. And second of all, I don't think it's sanitary to reuse food containers in this manner.

The baguette and classic croissants are delicious and affordable! The other baked items I bought were hit or miss I came on a Sunday and there was a little line that went pretty quickly- always a good sign Here's what I've tried so far: -traditional baguette- this is a bit more expensive than their other baguette. The cashier told me it was chewier and I was pleased with my choice -classic croissant- flaky and messy to eat, as a croissant should be. My boyfriend found it a little salty but I thought it was awesome -chocolate cupcake (called something like explosion or secret?)- filled with an oozing chocolatey center- very good -red velvet cupcake- fine, but nothing special. No special flavor and the cake itself was a bit dry -rainbow cookie- SO disappointing. It was rock hard and just tasted old. We ate it the same day we bought it. Other friends told me it's been good when they bought it in the past I'll definitely come back for French bakery basics or to pick up elements for a charcuterie board like nice cheeses!

Le Mixte. French Ham & Cheese Crossaint. Creme brûlée
    Jackie G.

This place has become a go to for us about once a month . We will order for pick up and take it home for dinner. We keep ordering the Classic French Ham & Cheese Crossaint and the Le Mixte. I like to make French Martinis at home to enjoy with it. Silly? Sure. But whatever. We have also enjoyed the La Dinde Sandwich and the Nutella & Banana Crossaint (but who wouldn't enjoy something with Nutella?) Some of the desserts we have tried include the blueberry tart and apple tart (heat them up a little bit when you get them home), the Creme Brûlée, the brownie and cheesecake. All of their desserts are good so far. I have to break out of the habit I'm in and try some of the crepes. Will update when I do!

Back again to pickup some food!

Great large raspberry tart. And a great addition to our Christmas desserts. The small tarts are equally tasty.

Love the sandwiches they make on croissants and baguettes. The closest thing I've found in the city to a sandwich at a boulangerie in Paris.

The space is relatively small, with a line inside and outside and a few tables outside. The length of the line and wait time varies based on the time of day and if you go on a weekday vs weekend. Go early if you don't want them to sell out of anything or purposely go a little later if you want one of their lunch sandwiches on focaccia. I have had the tomato and garlic focaccia twice now and each time it has been exceptional. Minor critique, the slices of garlic could be a bit smaller. I also had the shakshuka focaccia which is divine and I would absolutely recommend both. I need to come back to try their sandwiches as well. I am not a sweets person, but everyone I know loves their pastries. Getting someone a gif tcard here makes for a great gift.

I'm usually more of a savory girlie but all the sweet items we tried were great, especially the rhubarb croissant and the earl grey morning bun. I really enjoyed the focaccia sandwiches (smoked salmon and pea/mint/feta were elite) and the artichoke green garlic slice. The flavor of the sesame stirato was excellent but the bread itself was a tad too chewy for the filling we got with it (tuna salad), so that style probably works better with the jambon beurre. Will definitely be on the rotation whenever I'm in the city -- would love to try some of their seasonal/limited edition items one day, though not sure if I have it in me to brave the lines that can form on the weekends, lol! We'll see :)

Even though there is a line, you do not feel rushed or pressured to order quickly. On this visit we ordered plain croissant, chocolate croissant-fresh out of the oven, rhubarb croissant, black forest pastry and brown butter corn cake. The chocolate croissant was amazing. It is triple chocolate and cocoa powder is in the dough. It is filled with milk and dark chocolate, so creamy. The plain croissant was flaky and light. The brown butter corn cake was crispy and caramelized on the outside and soft and moist. The Black Forest croissant is a seasonal offering. It is made with their Triple Chocolate Croissant filled with chocolate cake and sour cherries and topped with mascarpone cream , Rhubarb & Custard Croissant . It is tart and sweet. The rhubarb is roasted and complimented with sweet vanilla custard. They all were excellent. Each were about $8. Highly recommend and don't let the line deter you .
