They texted my the next morning 20 minutes before the pickup time to let me know they couldn't do it. And offered no solutions. We all know that moving really sucks. We all know that breakups suck. You put the two of them together and you become one frazzled mo fo. That was me. Even after combing yelp for the opinions of every stranger I know to find a reliable and affordable mover who might make this transition back to the city a teeny bit less stressful - I'll admit I was still nervous as hell. Even after a wonderful initial quote/talk with Steve - there were still so many variables that might go wrong. I was just going to have to wait and see how it all went down. In the end - Steve and Lamont were 100% on time in Jersey the morning of (likely in part due to the fact that Steve had connected the night before to clarify the starting address which never appears right on GPS). They quickly and efficiently packed up the van in something like 30-40minutes. It was impressive. They took great care wrapping my furniture. We were both headed to Queens in separate vehicles and Steve was honest about his route possibly taking a bit longer - as he was avoiding tolls for my sake. I was slightly worried about this - wondering if the toll wouldn't be cheaper than the time - but they ended up pulling in 10 minutes after I did in Astoria. Awesome. They swiftly lugged all my shite into the cramped new digs also in about 30 minutes or so. The entire move took under 2.5 hours (travel time was at least an hour of that) The final price was a good deal less than I had estimated (though nearly spot on with what they had quoted me). I was even able to give a larger tip than I had planned on and STILL have some cash left over to go towards my next month's rent. Who expects THAT with a move from the depths of New Jersey to Astoria? Not I. I will absolutely be calling Steve again in the future - though I really I hope I don't need to soon! read more

I found this service online and did not know what to expect. I needed a sofa moved from a warehouse that I was purchasing from online and brought to my apartment. The unexpected happened when we could not remove the old couch and insert the new couch into the unit because they would not fit through the door ways that were redone within my nine years in the building. The movers did not get upset or frustrated. In fact they went out of their way to find a solution and, though we placed an hour and a half more on this job, they actually remove the old couch and inserted the new one beautifully! Pavel is a gentleman and his polite nature was a pleasure in an industry that usually played by brisk attitude. They will be on my insta dial and I will use them whenever these issues come up. I hired these guys to do ONE VERY SIMPLE THING. I asked them to move an antique stove that I had just bought and was picking up. First off, they refused to let me move other things in the van since I had not previously told them I would be moving more than just the stove, so I had to leave behind some items that the seller gave to me and pick them up later. Second, when they unloaded my beautiful 1940s vintage stove, they scraped the appliance's side along the door latch on the bottom of the van and the stove now has chips in what was once a clean white surface, as well as dents and dings. The worst was when I called Pavel to complain, I said I would send him photos of the damage and he said "I don't really have time to deal with complaints, so call me tomorrow and we'll see what we can do". I called him the next day and asked him to file a claim on his insurance and he said he did not have insurance, even though his website said he did. When I said I was going to report him to the Department of Consumer Affairs for failing to reimburse a customer for damage the movers inflicted, he said that I was threatening me and hung up. IF YOU CARE ABOUT THE CONDITION OF YOUR ITEMS, DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS. They don't use caution and will not reimburse you if they damage your things!!! read more

UPDATE: After receiving many phone calls being cursed out by the movers, yelled at by Pavel, I feel that my safety is at risk. I made sure to record every phone call and I took pictures of everything for my attorney so we can take legal action against this company. I would not recommend using this moving company. Pavel seemed professional on the phone, but my movers showed up 45 minutes late, did not seem to have any prior experience moving (I had to help move the one piece of furniture i hired them to because they could not figure out how to fit it inside), and they caused alot of damage not only to my apartment floors but to the building itself. I thought because the website (and Pavel) talked about insurance, we would be covered, however upon calling Pavel to discuss damage that occurred, he immediately said he is not responsible and that the movers are considered private contractors so it is their responsibility. super unprofessional. movers were almost an hour late, my partner ended up having to help move the stuff since they could not figure out how to move the couch on their own, and they caused serious damage to the building we are now moving into. on top of that, the movers screamed at our super after he witnessed them damaging both our apartment and the stairway in the building. the company is supposedly insured, but when we contacted the owner he told us that the company will not be paying for the damages. bottom line: do not hire. *update: because we requested that the company pay for the damages, one of the movers just called my partner and started threatening us and cursing us out over the phone. not making us feel safe given that they know our new address. read more

I just had Pavel and his guys move a sofa for me - went from an elevator building to a 5th floor walk-up. The guys came on time, wrapped the sofa, let me ride in the van with them, and got it to my new place in 40 minutes! Just used Pavel and he was AWESOME... We had called another guy on craigslist with a truck but after he did not return calls or text we thought we better find someone quick. After telling Pavel where we needed the pick up and delivery and that we would have it ready at the curb he confirmed what I said and then reiterated if we wanted to we could also text him... No need. He sent a text 10 minutes early that he was out front at 8:20 am... He waited for us to get the furniture down as it took about 20 minutes longer than we thought. The workers were slow so I was charged over two hours extra even though I pitched in and moved half my stuff, including loading my furniture onto the truck, I shudder at what I would have had to pay if I hadn't helped. The word "fragile" meant nothing to them as I saw numerous fragile boxes on the bottom of a pile in the truck but I have yet to unpack to determine the damage done to my items. I called Pavel really last minute to move a couch that needed to be at my apartment the next morning. Dante and David assembled a sofa, one bench and two tables very quickly. They were efficient, careful and skilled. They were also incredibly nice. As an added touch, they volunteered to move an old sofa down five narrow flights of stairs after my neighbor berated me for using the elevator to move the sofa. In addition, they provided information and advice for hanging an antique art piece (after I had asked several art stores without success). They were meticulous about recording the amount of time they worked. The per-hour charge was very reasonable, and there were no added charges. Stay away from this crazy man named Pavel. After being quoted 95.00 per hour, I told him I'd send via email all the information regarding the job. He called after receiving the email and berated me for 15 minutes like a paranoid crazy man. If you could have heard him on the phone, you'd understand why I felt he was completely out of control! CRAZY!!! Ive used these guys a few times now and each time they have been so great. Friendly, professional, get the job done as fast as they can and are very fair with pricing. Thats very difficult to find in NYC. Today we had two lovely guys show up early for our move. They then made the drive from the far West end of Greenwich street all the way to the far east end of 95th street. They managed it as quickly as possible and managed to move our furnitured in and out and through the traffic within the one-hour. They even let us ride in the van with them and were super friendly. 100% recommended!! I enlisted help to pick up a bunch of furniture from a variety of Craigslist listings all over Manhattan, and Pavel and Alfredo were super flexibile and helpful. They arrived at the pick-up location early and gave me a courtesy call to let me know they were ready whenever I was. We made stops at walk-ups as well as elevator buildings and Alfredo did ALL of the heavy lifting for me. Lots of other companies charge extras for stairs/stops/whatever but Pavel made it nice and simple- a flat fee per hour and I could do whatever I needed! And Pavel is hilarious and friendly. That doesn't hurt when you're riding around in a van with a stranger for 3 hours. read more

Moving a couch is no easy matter in NYC so I am glad we found Pavel. We got a sofa sleeper from a relative and wanted to have it moved from Manhattan to Brooklyn. I did some research and found Pavel via Craig's List and Yelp. I contacted Pavel via his web site and he replied in about an hour and then we had to coordinate the move date and time between me, Pavel and 2 other people. Pavel was pretty good about responding to emails and it took us about a day to nail the details -- he was helpful and responsive through the whole process. His crew were a few min early on pick up day, which was nice. They wrapped the couch and got it to the van. The original quote was for 90 min. It took the moving crew about 1hr to wrap and move the couch so there was no way they would complete the job in 90 min. Pavel called me to let me know that this was the case - it was great that we was ahead of the game on this. He let me know that he would pro-rate the amount depending on the total time. The guys arrived and got right to work on getting the couch in. Sadly, the couch was too big to fit through our door! The guys worked for about an hour to try and make it work - they really put their best effort in but sadly it was not going to happen. Pavel called me and he had 3 options available for us right away, which was great since I had the next steps to pursue right away rather than being totally stuck. I needed a last-minute hand with moving and I called a few other top-rated "professional" movers before calling Mr. Pavel. Not only were they more expensive but they seemed to lack in professional customer service. A lot of these movers don't realize that the first phone call is the most important. Mr. Pavel understands this! He texted me, called me to confirm, and even gave me his personal cell phone # to contact him if need be. However, that's only half the story....The other half is the 2 Gentlemen that called me before arriving and then upon arriving, Went straight to work in Hot, Humid weather even after doing a previous job before mine... One of the workers name was Alex and the other gentleman's name escapes me...but They were exceptional, hard-working, and very courteous and nice... They made the entire job pleasant.
