Definitely more of a pedestrian recycling center for those of us just trying to properly dispose of our recyclables. If you have cans and bottles, Evolution will gladly take them and give you money for your bounty. Some items in my two bags didn't count towards my earnings (wine bottles and most plastic), but I at least felt good that I was turning them over to a place that would dispose of them the right way (I don't trust that my apt complex's trash company does it). My tote bag of beer bottles and Topo Chico netted me $1.15 and I was given the cold hard cash right on the spot. The gentleman heading it up on a Monday was jolly and pleasant. He didn't give much insight on why some items counted and some didn't, but there are signs everywhere so if I had had time to stay and peruse, I'd know exactly what will get me what next time. CLOSE WHEN THEY FEEL LIKE IT. So I get there 15 minutes before they close on a Saturday and they gates are closed with a customer still in there. I get out of the car and ask if they changed their hours. They one guys says yeah they close at 4:30, I say cool because it's 4:15 so can you please let me in. He then proceeds to show me his phone and says "4:30!". I show him my phone and say "4:17!". How (2) cell phones could have different times seems a bit impossible. So I go back to the car and beep the horn. This gets the owner's attention (I assume he's the owner). He then says he's sorry, but they're closed. I said yes, but you close at 4:30 and it's not 4:30 yet. He also does the showing me his phone routine from like 15 yards. I tell him again that it's not 4:30 yet. Mind you as I'm out there another (3) people drive up and are all looking in as it's not 4:30 yet. So either he's lying or all of us waiting outside of the gate are in a grand conspiracy to try and fool him about what time it is. So listen, I get that I was there close to their closing time. But if you expect people to come back to your business then you need to honor the hours that you set to the public. And if you are going to close early because you just feel like it at least make up a decent excuse and don't insult my intelligence by arguing that the time isn't what everyone else says it is. Say your dog died or you have a family emergency or something other than time itself where you're standing is running faster by 10-15 minutes than everyone else 15 yards away from your point in space and time. Or just be smart enough to tell a decent lie. It just sucks because this place used to be my go to place for recycling and now they've just proven that they can't keep their word. If they want to leave earlier on Saturday then change your hours, but if you set a time then respect the time and your customers. They clearly don't respect anyone else's time and assume everyone will keep coming back. Well not me. read more

Excellent recycling location: very friendly and accommodating staff, ample parking, indoor facility with shade, they offer a hand washing station, cash on the spot (not a voucher to be redeemed at a grocery store), and on.... I live in So. Pas. and this is now my go-to recycling site. And as mentioned before here on yelp, their lunch time is 12:00-13:00. read more

The guy there was cool-- very chill. Got in and out. Made enough change to get a Jamba Juice smoothie. They even had a little hand sanitizer dispenser which was cool. I used to go to the recycling center in the Albertson's parking lot but I think that one closed down. read more

I've been to quite a few recycling places over the years, but I stopped looking once I found Evolution. I've been coming for about a year now. There are usually a couple of different gentleman working at this spot. They're both very friendly, talkative, and helpful. Evolution takes in any aluminum cans, plastic bottles, and glass bottles with CA CRV on the label. I came here once since I was looking for a recycling center. I usually go to a Montebello location near Costco but this one is closer. I always avoid the one behind the Ralph's because of the negative reviews and I always see a line. This location is pretty clean and the staff were helpful. I would say I was in and out within 20 minutes which isn't bad considering they had to sort through my stuff to make sure all was good. read more

Used to have to drive much farther and found out they weren't taking plastic bottles or cans anymore. Found Evolution, closer to home and MUCH nicer people. Helpful employees, offered hand sanitizer and paper towels and water to clean hands. Just nice! Went on Thursday after their lunch (they close from noon to 1:30), and only 1 other person ahead of us. I'm a Girl Scout Daisy troop leader and wanted to give my girls a trip to A recycling center and I found the right place. This place is really clean and the staff is very friendly. They were willing to talk to the girls about the process of recycling. If your looking for a place to take the kids and show them about recycling this is a great place to start. Have to say this recycling center was easy, fast, and friendly. Can't say how the pricing compares to other centers, I had a large amount of recycling and just wanted it gone so any money was good. $37.10 from my trip today with aluminum, glass, and plastic. You will make more getting your full crv back by crushing each can at replanet or similar locations but that takes hours to wait and crush. I will take less money for quicker in and out time. One complaint the parking is just a bit too far from where you need to take the recycling but only a 30 foot walk...was a little difficult with large bins of glass. read more

We live in South Pasadena, the only recycling center we have is the one in the parking lot of Pavillions. There's always a long line of people, or the people who work there aren't present. So I decided to check this place out, which is only a 10 min drive from South Pasadena. There was no long line of people, only two people ahead of me. There was just one guy working, and it went by pretty fast. They have bins for you to dump your items into, and separate. They take plastic bottles, cans and some glass bottles like beer / wine bottles as well. The bins are pretty tall, I brought 4 garbage bags full of plastic bottles and was able to fit all of my plastic bottles into one container. Once it's your turn, you place your bin on a scale to be weighed. Then the guy has you sign your name and hands you the cash. I will definitely come back to this location for our recycling now. Evolution Recycling is a fast and easy place for can and bottle redemption. I've never encountered a line or a wait time. Their location in Monterrey Park is easy to find. They are a larger operation with plenty of bins and a parking lot. I also appreciate that they are not a recycling stall that you see so often in the area. The staff is friendly and helpful. Just keep in mind that they close promptly at noon for their lunch hour. read more

BEWARE OF THIS PLACE. I thought I'd give this place a try since it's close. I took them just under 80lbs of plastic (a whole dually truck full ) and got $43 for it. The sign says $1.28 per pound. I came here at 4pm on Wednesday. No wait! The center is clean and not smelling at all. Workers there are super friendly and helpful. This place was convenient and quick. The nearest one to me is the parking lot at pavilions in south pasadena and that one is closed or super busy frequently. The only bad thing is I felt I got half of the amount of money I get in south pasadena. Not sure why this happened but it was true. Don't think I'll be returning. read more

Thanks to Next Door recommendations or I would have not even gone to this place. It wasn't the closest to my house, but what a great experience. I had a year's of recycling. I loaded up my truck. Drove right in to their ample parking lot at 11am. Unloaded my recyclables and was out of there with cash in my hand in no time. Piece of cake. Staff was friendly and efficient. Even if my local market's recycling center was still open I would make the drive to Evolution. read more

Quick and easy service got a decent pay out. Definitely see people bringing much larger loads, I only had two garbage bags full, people were coming in with literally pickup trucks full of plastic, glass and cans. Best place to recycle in Alhambra and Monterrey Park. The re-planet location up by albertsons in Alhambra has closed. And the re-planet location in Monterey Park at Ralphs is horrendous.This place is always quick and friendly. The guy running the place really likes his job and it shows. He does not mind staying open 5-10 min late to help customers. It refreshing after having to deal with the Re-planet emplyees crappy attiutues and service. Also this place is about a mile away ( less than 5 min drive) from the Re-planet..... trust me you will save at least 15 minutes easy and not have to deal with the poor service if you just drive here instead. read more
