Combined with the fact that he diagnoses and treats patients every day, it puts him in a unique position to identify the root cause of pain rather than simply treating the symptoms. I first saw Dr. Clayton over six years ago for persistent lower back pain that had reached a 7 or 8 out of 10. Beyond the adjustment itself, he spent time understanding my lifestyle, exercise habits, and movement patterns. He gave me exercises to strengthen areas where I had deficits, but what impressed me most was that he identified the true source of my pain: I wasn't breathing correctly. He taught me how to breathe into my diaphragm, which improved my core stability, reduced the load on my lower back, and ultimately eliminated my pain. More than five years later, my lower back pain has never returned. I have remained completely pain-free, and I still use the breathing techniques and exercises he taught me. More recently, I developed nagging neck pain that lingered for weeks. I knew exactly who to call. Within just two or three visits, Dr. Clayton again identified the underlying issue. My idea of "good posture" was actually creating excessive tension in my traps, and hours at a desk were making the problem even worse.
