We are more than happy to recommend EX Home Solutions for anyone needing a new roof! We recently had our brand new roof installed, including 2 skylights, 2 light tunnels, adding gutter covers. Since our old roof was leaking and had some problems where the main part of the house met the addition, We were concerned and hoped the new roof would resolve those problems. First, the price we were quoted was very competitive. It was much less expensive than 2 other estimates we had, but only a little more than 2 others. I decided to go with Julio's company because we had a strong recommendation from a friend of a friend, even even though EX Home was not the rock bottom cheapest. I believe that sometimes its better to not go with the cheapest, if you want good workmanship and attention to detail. We worked with Julio. He was honest with us about what really needed to be done and what did not need done. we had several other estimates from other contractors that were very high (I was flabbergasted!) and included things that we did not really need. The job was started fairly quickly and took 3 days, although the initial estimate was for 2 days. The extra day was fine with me. We just wanted the job done correctly. All of the workmen were very skilled, hardworking, and polite. They took care when we needed to get out of the carport to check the driveway for stray nails. At one point, Julio noticed that a section of the job did not look right and he suspected an underlying structural problem. Without prompting from me, his men removed that section, corrected the problem, replaced a few sheets of plywood, and re-roofed that area, My neighbor noticed the careful attention to detail and promptly texted me. She was very impressed at the attention to detail. The best thing for me is that I did not have to even mention this to him. He could see it was not right and could not leave it like that. He took pride in his work and wanted it done correctly! As it happened, my daughter was very sick when the job was going on. Julio and his men offered to start a little later in the morning, and would have been OK with rescheduling altogether, however we let them continue. However, when the job was almost complete we asked that he not complete the installation of two light tunnels due to the dust that would come into the house and we were concerned about our daughter. He was fine with waiting a few days to complete that work and the light tunnels now in and are fantastic! Julio also helped resolve some problems with the existing gutter system that caused water to bypass the gutter in one spot. That had been a problem for at least 17 years and it is fixed! If you need a roof, EX Home is the company to call. I was very pleased. Its a 50 year roof and we will not likely be in the house the next time it needs to be done, but it I ever move and need a roof, I will be calling them back. I really have to say it was one of the best experiences we have ever had with any contractor. We decided to replace our almost 25 year old roof (which had 2 layers of shingles) on a traditional colonial home and also planned to replace the gutters. An article regarding roof replacement in Consumer Checkook magazine AND discussion with a service representative at a local roofing supply company in Rockville provided the background knowledge to ask thoughtful questions and make important decisions. The local roofing supply center led us to E.X. Home Solutions and company owner Julio Martinez, whose company was not listed in Consumer Checkbook magazine, but certainly should be in the future! From first contact through project completion, Mr. Martinez was patient and responsive to all of our many questions and immediately provided evidence of insurance and state of Maryland licensure upon request. He confirmed our research to use the CertainTeed Architectural Landmark shingles and supported us in a color decision. Julio also assessed our gutters, used a hose to check the underground plastic drains into which each gutter drained, and suggested we only replace the vertical downspouts with ones with larger dimensions and keep the horizontal sections. He ensured all old sections were re-hung properly and integrated proper fittings to ensure good flow and drainage. Julio also suggested gutter covers called Leaf Relief to protect the gutters from leaf buildup. ROOFING DAY- temperature cool and not too sunny: The work crew was comprised of 5 men and Julio Martinez worked on -site for parts of the day. The crew was like a well-rehearsed orchestra: tarps down to protect landscaping and to collect debris, ladders up, and men working CONSTANTLY throughout the day from 7:30 a.m. to total clean up by 8 p.m. The entire roof and all details involved (new dripedges, water shields, self-sealing vent collars, flashing, re-hanging gutters, etc.) was completed in one very full day due to threat of rain the next day. The bottled water and apples we provided in the morning and pizza at end of day were very much appreciated by the work crew. A huge rainstorm recently has put the roof to the test-- and all is good. The next day Mr. Martinez came back for 3 hours, checking and re-hanging one downspout and climbed onto the roof to double check all work completed. We are VERY pleased with the quality of the craftsmanship, the reasonable cost, and the integrity of the owner. We would highly recommend E.X. EX Home Solutions Evaluation Based on our roof replacement project completed in November, I highly recommend EX Homes Solution as a reliable and cost-effect company.  I deal with legal and contractual issues as part of my job and have no prior knowledge or affiliation with this company.   I waited 6 months to complete my review to account for any material defect.  Since this is a fairly new install, maintenance experience is not part of my review.   However, thus far the roof installation is working very well. Because of COVID, I decided to request a large number of proposals, 12 in total.  My review included multiple Internet sites describing past performance on roof projects.  I also check the BBB for past complaints. I evaluated the oral presentation and the written proposals.  I used a spreadsheet to compare details such as cost, materials, product warrant, and labor warranty, reducing the number of companies to 6 firms.  From these, I selected EX Home Solutions as the top contender.  I met with the sales manager (Mr. Jeff Brown), to verify in writing the company's commitment to their proposal.  As a final step, I requested written proof of insurance and bond documentation and contacted the county to independently verify the company's license and standing. After I awarded the contract, we selected a start date.  EX Homes Solution employees came on time and completed about 2,800 square feet of roof in three days.  They protected the plants and grounds around each work area.  They perform a complete perimeter clean-up each day of work and maintain communications with me throughout the process.  In addition to a foreman, the company owner (Mr. Julio Martinez) visited our home on both days of the project.  One segment of the project required materials in very limited supply.  The company disclosed this ahead of time and kept me informed as to the progress of the order.  Ultimately the material was received, and the last segment of my project was completed to my full satisfaction. Overall, the installation performed by EX Homes Solution was great.   I give this company an "A" and, based on my experience with this installation, I have no reservations in offering this recommendation.  I do strongly recommend that homeowners learn online about the process and products before they reach out to roofing companies.  I did and the research helped me evaluate the companies and review the final product provided by EX Homes Solutions. I have been a Residential Remodeling Contractor since 1988. I have a great reputation and many loyal customers, my business depends on that. Most of the work I do myself, but some trades, such as roofing, I hire a contractor who specializes in that trade. Their work can either promote or destroy my reputation, so I am very careful to hire the best contractors I can find. I can assure you that I am more critical and more knowledgeable than any homeowner. I first hired Mr. Martinez in 2014 to re-roof a house that I was working on in Potomac. He and his crew did an excellent job. They arrived as scheduled, their work was 1st quality, they were neat, they were quick, they protected the plants around the house, they cleaned up the jobsite, their behavior was courteous and respectful towards me, my customer and the neighbors. Since then I have hired Mr. Martinez to do many roofs for me, including the one on my own home. Every roof has been a 1st quality job, no problems what-so-ever, very happy customers. One more thing, Mr. Martinez installs the roofing materials EXACTLY as the manufacturers specify. I have seen many contractors who cut corners to save time and money, but years down the road your roof deteriorates and your warranty might not be honored by the manufacturer. Mr. Martinez is honest, very responsible, has the highest work ethics, is extremely knowledgeable and is simply the best Exterior Contractor that I know. I highly recommend him. Julio and his crew were great: professional, timely, proactive, and reasonably priced. He identified and fixed the source of a mysterious water stain that was coming from the roof flashing. The first (national brand) roofer that came out barely climbed up, took a few pictures of the roofline, and wasn't confident on his proposed solution. Worst, he never even tried looking from the inside (of the garage attic) to understand the problem. I was frustrated and after trying to schedule another service (many were backed up) finally found Ex Home Solutions. I described my problem and Julio was willing to take a look that same day. He came by and immediately wanted to go up the attic. He didn't have the right ladder but promised to return the next day. He was back as promised, climbed up, and found the water leak. He gathered some additional info about my roof (the shingle brand and color) and gave me an estimate two days later. I contracted him for the job on Monday and by Thursday he had acquired the shingles and scheduled the work. Better yet, that same day he contacted me back (he's good with email, TXT, and phone) asking if I wanted the job done that afternoon--he had a crew available and knew heavy rains were coming the next day. I was thankful he was so flexible and proactive on getting this fixed! In fact, Julio returned the next day (Friday) and climbed up again to inspect the work. Julio and his crew were great! I found the pricing to be very fair while they did a quality job in a timely fashion patching a roof hole/leak. Julio was extremely straightforward and a straight shooter. Even though I needed my gutters repaired and he only does gutter replacement, he actually provided my an estimate to replace the system that was 30% lower than what another contractor provided me just to REPAIR the gutters. He also explained to me the root cause of the gutter issue, that we don't need a new gutter system, and recommended we install a gutter guard/helmet. Mind you, he lost out on potential business since he only installs the gutter guard/helmet as part of installing an entirely new gutter system. I found that to be very honest on his part and as a result, would highly recommend him if you need any of the services he provides. Excellent experience with Ex Home Solutions!! Our roof was in bad shape, had started leaking and we discovered that the wood beneath some of the edges was rotting. The sales manager, Jeff Brown, was extremely responsive and helpful; he helped figure out exactly what services we need to fully repair our roof while being cost effective at the same time. Julio and his company installed a new roof on my house last week. The guys worked all day to make sure the old roof was removed and the plywood was water proofed before they started installing the new shake shingles. Shake shingles are a lot more expensive then asphalt singles and are harder to install. They did a great job and cleaned up the area before leaving.
