I've been coming to ECPT for over 7 years Lino Chuang has been great along with the staff however all good things come to an end. Lino Chuang sold his practice to a Hospital and as of 8/1 the place is under new management. We were told casually that they are changing management but no one officially send us a notice to notify us that billing will change. I usually run to PT after work and the front desk all in the sudden disappeared. It is Impossible to connect with the front desk person Sylvia who is fantastic. Calls are now automated and directed to at call center that no one knows anything besides giving you an appointment.On one of my visits I overheard another patient disputing charges on her bill. Since my insurance wasn't accepted I had to pay annual fee and the rest was covered by my insurance now with the new management I will be billed for copay for each visit in addition to the $200 I paid in April. Honestly it became too messy and hearing how messy is the transition I rather not continue with PT until it's clear how the new management will be handling patients and billing. If you are existing patient of ECPT I suggest you find out how Montefiore will bill you. They better have Christina the late shift front desk back as there are patients coming for therapy after 5 pm . I really like Lino Cheung and his original team and wish them good luck but I'm not paying to talk to a machine and call center representative that has no clue. read more

Out of no where, and with no sign I developed a pinched nerve in my neck. Verified by X-ray And to my bad luck, I couldn't get a PT to treat me because of the COVID-19 situation. As soon as it was safe , I was recommended to Excellent Choice, Lino Chuang. I was in incredible pain. Somehow he was able get me very comfortable in one appointment!! I immediately started treatment according to his recommendations in terms of how many times to come in. Literally I got better with each treatment. I truly thought there was no hope. When I landed on my foot while rock climbing and couldn't walk it off afterwards, I knew it was time to get it checked out. I'm usually one to just walk off an injury, massage it, and let it rest for a few days, but there was no escaping this time. My podiatrist couldn't find any broken bones or fractures from my MRI and suggested it might be a deep tissue problem, so he referred me to get PT nearby. I was immediately sent to Pooja. She is the best PT you could ever want--friendly, interpersonal, helpful, and she truly cares about her work and her patients. I also got to know her on a personal level, and she is just as wonderful as she is as a professional. She spent the entire summer helping my foot recover, step by step, and I couldn't have asked for a better health provider. She was very patient with me and tried to come up with exercises that worked well for me. She also gave me a lot of DIY tips to care for myself, which helped speed up the recovery. I always felt comfortable and the staff here are just as wonderful; Angelica welcomed me with arms wide open when I started coming here and Sylvia from the front desk was very friendly and always made scheduling so easy, but don't push her buttons! It's a bit like a family here; most of the patients are locals and there is somewhat a sense of community here. The only downside of this place is that this place runs from 9am - 6pm, so it would usually require the average 9-5 person to go to work late or take off early. read more

At the Sunnyside location, the actual physical therapist were good but the initial sign-up and scheduling of appointments can be much better. I felt like I had to beg to be seen even after insurance & referral information had been verified. I guess the PT rehabilitation is what matters the most. read more

My orthopedic wanted me to do some physical therapy and since this place was convenient for me I decided to come here. I didn't know what to expect since this was my first time getting PT. Making my first appointment was super easy and I was seeing right away. I dealt with Pooja who I cant say good enough things about. She is super sweet, caring and really knows what she is doing. We worked out a schedule that worked out for both of us and going there felt like hanging out with a friend. She made the therapy super enjoyable. Everyone in that office its really nice, my only complain is that I wish their machine were a little more modern since they look a little updated. read more

Excellent Choice lives up to its name! I had an accident where I broke both arms, and I very much needed a reliable facility and physical therapist. They really came through for me. Everyone's friendly, the place is very clean, and (best of all) the support is wonderful. Maricar saved my life. She is very knowledgeable and a great conversationalist, too. (Let's face it: PT can mean that we spend a lot of time in the thearpist's company. It helps if the talk is lively.) I felt like I was in safe hands--literally. I was blown away by her authority with giving massages. And I felt like we were collaborating. Maricar was eager to apply my own observations to my treatment. I came in with a gym injury and both of my knees were so swollen I could not walk properly. I was skeptical I am not going to lie but this was an excellent experience. Everyone in the office is very nice, accommodating and friendly. There is a strong family ambiance which makes anyone feel at home. My knees are no longer swollen and I am returning to my weights slowly. My therapist, Maricar is such a sweetheart and whilst the whole process took place taught me a few things about the anatomy of the knee. My experience at Excellent Choice was fantastic from the start. I first met with one of the physical therapists, Maricar, and explained my injury, and she was compassionate and knowledgeable as she explained my treatment plan. She and the other therapists and staff members have encouraged me and challenged me throughout my journey and I have made steady improvements that have impressed my orthopaedist and other doctors. At each visit, Maricar asked for an update about my pain and mobility, and adjusted my activities accordingly. She and the other staff members were very attentive and make sure to gently correct me or pace me if necessary. I attended physical therapy at Excellent Choice for almost 4 months and went from using a walker to being able to walk without any assistance because of the help and support I received from Maricar and the staff. I was diagnosed with a meniscus tear, 2 bakers cysts and arthritis in my right knee. My Orthopedist suggested PT. Since starting PT, to my surprise, my pain turned into discomfort and movement, walking and doing daily activities has greatly improved. Like most people, I don't usually write a review unless I'm dissatisfied with the service. In this case, however, I feel compelled to extol the virtues of Excellent Choice Physical Therapy. I first worked with them 4 years ago for a frozen right shoulder. Maricar and Lino were excellent. They discussed my pain and made suggestions to first manage, then eliminate the pain. After a few sessions the pain was gone. Today I can throw a ball as though the frozen shoulder never happened. Unfortunately, this year my other shoulder became frozen. I went back to Excellent Choice, and this time was assigned to Nadia. This young woman and I hit it off immediately. While physical therapy involves stretching limbs to the limits of the patient's pain tolerance, Nadia was always very careful not to hurt me. She was also very observant, noticing how I carried my cap and sunglasses with my bad arm bent, and also making adjustments to my exercises while she was seeing another patient. She seemed very happy when my shoulder started loosening and we could see the progress. This gave me incentive to work harder at home. As time went on, she made adjustments to my home program, giving me exercises to improve the weaknesses that she still observed. Obviously I can't say enough good things about Nadia, but the whole place is very friendly and welcoming. The front desk, Sylvia and the others, whose names escape me, are very helpful and accommodating. Jose, who works as an aide to the therapists, is always smiling and joking. And the aforementioned Lino and Maricar both pointed out little things that I was doing, even though I wasn't their patient. The whole point is that everyone here cares about their job and their patients. I did not find that to be the case at Advantage Care in Astoria, so be warned. I had shoulder surgery and I found this place through my insurance. I've been coming for physical therapy for the last 4 months. Lino is the main physical therapist- and he has been very kind and helpful. He has a warm bedside manner. I was afraid of being pushed too far because of the pain, and he always made sure that I'm ok. The staff is also very friendly. It's not a huge space but it always seems like there are many people here. The front desk manager Sylvia is great and easy to schedule appointments with. These people seem to be xcellent PT practioners who believe in gentle but aggressive therapy. I've been to several places in Manhattan and Queens for back pain and this place is state of the art. They have very new, clean machines that I have never seen anywhere else before. I was referrered here by my DO. I wish I had come here sooner! I've been to other places that did very little, made me feel like a just a faceless number or feel totally hopeless in improving my pain. This place is giving me hope and I appreciate that! Very disappointed. At the start of the treatment it was going fine. My physio was massaging my back and asked how the pressure felt and I said it was fine..then without any warning or advising me what he was going to do next or ask me was it ok? He then claimed on top of me as I was laying face down on the treatment bed and each one of his legs either said of my body with his whole body weight and sat on my butt. I thought it was strange and wondered why he had not asked me or told me he was going to sit on my butt with his legs open ontop of my butt and continue the massage while each of his legs were on either side of the treatment bed? As a young woman I am shocked. After the appointment I called my mom and friends to ask is this normal for a physio to need to sit on your butt with his legs open without asking and they reassured me absolutly not. As I lay on the treatment bed before this happend he asked me to lift my top up to place the towel on my back which was fine but then said wow you can tell you definitely work out after I lifted my top. I was not there to have his comment on my body .. then the awkward incident happend moments later. read more

Not only are the people down to earth, but the rooms are private.The equipment they use is state of the art and the care that is given to each individual, is of the highest quality. A solid 3.5 to 4 stars for this place. Staff is super nice....from Sylvia at the front desk to everyone else you work with. As far as the PT, I've worked primarily with pooja, who is fantastic. She has great interpersonal skills, she is patient, and she juggles patients with great care. I also appreciate that they are convenient to the subway, and take lots of different insurances. I'm knocking their rating down a little because they could really benefit from online scheduling. I've been there on multiple occasions when a patient shows up and the physical therapist was not expecting them. The patient inevitably says that the front desk staff told them to come, but 1) the front desk has left for the day; 2) the front desk is handling the many other patients, and don't have time to review the schedule; or 3) everyone is so damn sweet there, that they don't want to turn the patient (inevitably older, and probably with mental and physical problems) away. The problem though is that it's not fair to the other patients who are waiting, and it really is an easy way to burn out the staff. In addition, online scheduling just makes things easier for patients who don't have time to wait on the phone or just work during 9-5 hours. Lastly, I'd just echo the prior reviewers. The space is small but serviceable. Exercise equipment is older but also in good shape. And they really do have a lot more senior citizens coming here than other places I've been to. It's not a bad thing, but to be honest, I'm maybe a little more motivated with my exercises when I'm not doing them around 75 year olds. read more

My experience at Excellent Choice was a great one. My therapist was Lino. He was very nice and understanding to my ankle injury. Didn't let me do too much excersices in the beginning. But as time went on Lino's schedule got busy and that's when I got new a therapist Maricar. She is a very caring, thoughtful and she really knows what she is doing. She really had me working out very hard to improve my ankle. She even would give me homework to do at home. This really helped in my improvements with my injury. She and other staff members have encouraged and supported me through out my time at Excellent Choice. I truly believe without the help and support of Maricar's assistance I wouldn't be able to walk on my own and have a very successful recovery. Friendly staff, Sylvia in the front is great at returning calls and rescheduling, and good care overall. They seem to cater to an older clientele and are very attentive and caring with their patients. They have a good variety of equipment , although the office is relatively small. I have been playing softball since I was 4 years old. It is not only a family tradition but also my favorite pastime. But when I got injured in July 2016 and tore my ACL, I though, this is it, I will never be able to play again. With the help of the physical therapist at excellent choice I was able to strengthen my muscles and improve motion to my knee way before my ACL reconstruction surgery. They were also there for me after my surgery, helping me to recover quickly. Although it has only been a few months I am now ready to return to the gym and begin training for the next softball season. I am so grateful for everyone that helped me every step of the way. My therapist is Pooja who is amazing at what she does. It was my first time at therapy so I did not know what to expect. But I truly loved it. It was very relaxing and soothing. I was not sure about the place since I had not looked at reviews before going, but I agree with everyone here. This place is a hidden gem. I did not give five stars only because at times the front desk seemed too busy and a bit distracted when I would inquire about certain things.
