My bank scheduled me for an inspection after a collision. I asked and confirmed that: 1) I would not pay anything for the inspection at time of pickup, and that 2) I would not have to repair my vehicle with the same company that completed the inspection. (I have a local mechanic I trust already.) Then I receive a form from Caliber Collision requiring (quote): AUTHORIZATION TO REPAIR. (Required field) I hereby authorize Caliber Collision to complete the necessary repairs to my vehicle. I understand that payment in full will be due upon release of the vehicle, including any supplement charges. AUTHORIZATION TO DISASSEMBLE. (Required field) I understand I may be charged for disassembly, reassembly and/or partially completed work, based on Caliber's normal hourly labor rate. POWER OF ATTORNEY. (Required field) I hereby appoint Caliber Collision and its authorized employees to be my attorney-in-fact to sign my name on any check or draft covering repairs to my vehicle and to negotiate any such check or draft. So to get inspected, you have to: 1) immediately pay for all work related to the inspection including vehicle disassembly, 2) pay to have the vehicle fully repaired on-site, and 3) grant Caliber Collision power of attorney. It was so nice to have them call and set up my rental car with my insurance and have it waiting for me when I dropped my car off!
