A Comedy of Errors, but We Weren't Laughing…read more If you're looking for an adrenaline rush or would like to simulate a heart attack before your flight, forget skydiving or base jumping--just book a ride with Sunrise Shuttle. That'll get your heart racing. We planned a trip to Hawaii 9 months ago and booked Sunrise Shuttle four months out. A shuttle is expensive but we wanted vacation to start right when we left the house. Two families and three car seats. Car seats, you know, those crucial safety devices required by law? We were glad to pay for someone to take away the stress of getting to the airport. To summarize so far: we booked and paid for three cars seats. We called four days ahead specifically to confirm that we needed three car seats. Apparently, Sunrise Shuttle operates under a different legal system, where car seats are optional and customers are expected to improvise. When the driver showed up I asked to check that the car seats were installed correctly. He looked perplexed. I saw an empty van (no carseats) and asked where they were. He first insisted we never ordered them. Then he checked his phone and I saw his shoulders slump. He admitted he forgot. His brilliant solution? He could go get them and be back in an hour? No, that won't work because we would miss our flight. So then he suggests we should just use our own car seats. Sure, buddy, great idea. And how would we get them back? He promised Sunrise Shuttle would hand-deliver our car seats a week later when we get home. Hard pass. Faced with either missing our flight or trusting this operation with our children's safety, we had to scramble. We loaded up and drove ourselves. So instead of a smooth and relaxing trip to the airport, we started our vacation with a stress test. Oh, and this wasn't our first run-in with Sunrise Shuttle's commitment to chaos. A year and a half ago, they actually did bring car seats--but the driver didn't know how to install them. Oh, they need to be attached to the vehicle? Who knew? That should have been our warning sign, but we foolishly gave them another chance. Never again. Save yourself the hassle and go with literally any other company. Or just walk--it'll be more reliable.

I would give Abdul and his Airport Town Car Service 10 stars if I could. Here's why I thought I…read morereceived top-notch service: - Responsive -- Abdul responded to inquiries, emails, and updates quickly. - Hassle-free -- We established a price and it was fixed; no bait-and-switch, no hidden surcharges. - Flexible -- My evening arrival flight was delayed by more than 4 hours, stretching well into the middle of the night. Abdul tracked my flight, we stayed in touch, and he was right there ready to pick me up as we discussed. - Safe -- Abdul is a safe driver. Reasonable speed (not slow but not too fast); no sudden turns; no abrupt braking. It was a smooth ride because he drove well and paid attention. And he was definitely not checking his phone while driving other than to glance at navigation toward the end of the trip once we got deeper into my neighborhood. - Clean and Comfortable -- his car was very comfortable and impeccably clean. He made sure to provide bottled water for his passengers just in case. - Accommodating -- we didn't need to stop, but he let me know upfront that (despite our many hours of delay) he would be happy to make any stops I requested. He also made sure I was comfortable with the temperature and music levels before we got going. When I need a car service again, I am definitely sticking with Abdul.

I've been using this service religiously since 2006, in very high volumes. It's about as turnkey…read moreas you can possibly get. I just email and they show up. Somehow they always show up exactly at the right time. I've always wondered if they wait around the corner and then come down my driveway exactly when it is pickup time, I don't know how they do it otherwise. They have it down to a science. The vehicles are always in very nice condition and I've never experienced mechanical problems with them in all my hundreds of rides to SMF and SFO with them. The entire family is friendly and the always ask about how my wife and kids are doing. Further, I frequently make requests of them which require flexibility, and they always support. For instance, "can stop at this one Brazilian market on the way back from SFO? My wife wants something that they only sell there." Or, "can we drop by my friends house in West SF? I need to give him a package." And they always support, as long as I tell them beforehand of course so they can manage their schedule. And of course I give them a little extra for their flexibility and their time. A few times in 2017 I ended up using Uber because I forgot to book with Folsom Lake Express and, even if they would support, I didn't want to throw a hot potato to them like that just 3 hours before a flight. Anyways, every single time I did it was a nightmare. One guy with a mouth full of gold teeth and a car that had major problems with the brakes and the steering that his friend "serviced" instead of a mechanic. Another guy who took the most ludicrous route possible to the airport, using Douglas blvd to get there when I live in El Dorado Hills and he should have obviously taken highway 50. Another old lady who was driving her daughter's rundown piece of garbage that day and ended up taking me through residential back streets in Natomas (off of highway 5!) because that's what the navigation told her to do. I don't know how I ever got home that day. So frustrating after a long trip. You want to relax, not stress out with inept and unreliable drivers. I'm so busy that I have to get to all my business and personal calls when driving. With Folsom Lake Express, I can do that, and I don't have to worry about other passengers and I don't have to worry about them taking some crazy route. I can just multi-task and focus on being productive. With Uber, I can't make a single call because they will do something stupid, so I have to babysit them the whole way. Close your eyes and use Folsom Lake Express. It's the same price as Uber and they are infinitely more pleasant, reliable, and flexible. Familiarity breeds confidence. After a while, you wouldn't even dream of doing it any other way. Edit - Can you believe it? A couple of days after writing this review, these guys saved my tail. I had booked a pickup at SFO airport for 5PM on Christmas Eve, as I was returning from international travel. I had realized when I landed at 11:20AM that I gave them the wrong time! I called them and they quickly arranged for another driver to pick me up 10 minutes after my call, with no booking, billing, or paperwork involved on my end. Unbelievable service! If it wasn't for their responsiveness and resourcefulness, I would have been sitting around SFO for 5.5 hours on Christmas Eve instead of being with my family. These guys are the best!!

Until about 6 months ago, we always had absolutely great service from Folsom Lake Express to SMF…read morefrom El Dorado Hills and back. The past two times I've scheduled them went like this: the first time they were 30 minutes late, and I had to text and call to try and find out what was going on. Their driver finally showed up and we still got to the airport with a little time to spare. The last time, they were a no call - no show. I texted and called, but got no response. Ended up booking a ride with Lyft on very short notice, and thankfully they got us to SMF in plenty of time. Until and unless Folsom Lake Express fixes their scheduling issues and improves their communication with their customers, I won't be using them and cannot recommend them.
