I was a customer for 2 years. Got out as soon as my contract was up. They were horrible. I can tether off my cell phone and only one time in 2 years have run over the 10gb limit. After the initial time of somewhere around 100gb per month, my Exede service was changed to only 20gb per month, and it was horribly slow. Doing the same amount of usage, it would run out in 4-5 days. And no, I'm not a competitor. I currently have no home internet, only my cell phone due to the remoteness of my house. They were rude and condescending on the phone. I would avoid ever doing business with them. You have been warned. I wish I had checked into their reviews before getting the service. Horrible!!! There is no other word to use.. Well, I guess there is but it wouldn't be appropriate. If there is any other internet provider in your area I would highly suggest you use them, regardless of the price. Customer service with this company is the worst. I had a contract with them for 2 years, fulfilled my obligation and find out there are hidden fees at the end. Not to mention you are obligated to not only return the equipment to them, but you have to disassemble the satellite dish yourself before sending it back, so make sure you are paying attention while they are setting you up . You can call them to do it for you, but you will be charged a $95 fee. Do your research and read every single word of the contract if you chose this company. The ONLY reason it gets 1 star is because i can not give it any less or a negative star. This company is extremely difficult to work with. Long on hold times (upwards to 45 min to an hour). I have canceled my service within the first month of service because i was misled into believing they offered unlimited data. Well they do offer unlimited data, however, no-one told me that after you have reached your allowed alotment of data, that you service will slow to a snails pace. There is no customer satifaction guarantee whatsoever, and they charged me the full termination fee for 23 months! Do not use this company, Got there 10 gb package with a promise that 5x's a year they would give you an extra 5 gb. That never happened. After three years of spotty service finally replaced them with Tmobile Unlimited. They charged for an extra month when I cancelled said its in their contract. Plus, required me to remove the dish from my house or pay $300 penalty. I looked real cool with my oxygen tank on and climbing up to the roof of my two story home to remove it. Had no idea what I was getting into the first time. Second time, only Internet option, period. Would be better off without it. $99/mo and I always use up what's allowed in first 10 days. The installer was over 2 hours late to start with. The service only worked for 1 day. After that we could never get on the internet. We called several times to try to get a tech to come out and look at our satellite to make sure that things were hooked up properly and were told no. They compared their service to a traffic jam on the highway and we would just need to deal with it. We were also told that their peak hours of use were from 5 AM to 11 PM, so I guess you are suppose to get up to use the internet in the middle of the night...No matter what you say to their customer service rep they have an excuse. They also have the worst customer service department that I have ever talked to in my life. I finally gave up and cancelled after two weeks. I was then charged $363.45 upon the return of the equipment because I was not done with my 3 year contract. Why would you pay for something that you cannot use. DO NOT SIGH UP FOR THIS SERVICE! Poor Service its mediocre at its best pay for 12 mbps with boost to 25 mbps its sketchy at times more like 9-10 at its best and on high peek hours 1-2mbps don't even thing about uploads its 1 mbps and lower at times. Sooo, My internet went down due to my modem failing (DOA) I called customer service on Saturday at 2 PM explained my problem and said I would have to require a service call. I have the insurance on the system so I attempted to make an appointment. Well for some reason she wasn't able to schedule an appointment she apologized and said someone would contact me soon. Monday morning 11:30 AM still no call back so I called Customer Service again the agent told me that they attempted to call me back on Sunday but there was no answer. Hmm since this was my cell phone number and I checked there were no missed calls i asked why didn't i get an email?? crickets..... so they closed out my ticket. so again they said they would have someone call me. Maybe It's me but I pay $125.00 a month for Internet service so I call CS again and their response is sorry there are no appointments available at this time you will have to wait. Really? If I could leave zero stars I would. This is by far the worst company I've ever dealt with. We were referred to exede by directv. After it was installed and we could hardly get on the internet while sitting next to our modem we tried to cancel it after 2 days. Not only was the service EXTREMELY slow but our directv services didn't even work with it because it was so slow. We couldnt use our playback or ondemand. We did use up all of the data that was allotted however, unlike one of the reviewers stated, we didn't sit around and stream netflix day and night. We both work full time jobs outside of the house and use a normal amount of data. After you hit the very small data allowance your internet speed goes down to almost nothing. I literally couldn't get google to load on my laptop. I called directv to see if they could help us get out of exedes silly no trial period (they told us once the rep installs the equipment you're officially stuck in your contract) and they apologized but didn't do anything more. They did however let me know that THEY shouldn't have ever recommended this service to us as Exede is a satellite service and is set up to provide for those who live in rural areas who cant receive regular internet service. So we paid the $15 per month fee for every month you broke your contract; $345 for one month of exede service. They also charged us another $322 because their equipment wasn't back in time which was another huge nightmare getting our money refunded. My advice, STAY AWAY FROM EXEDE! Ive never left a review like this for any other business but I wish I'd read yelp before we threw away our money. Find another company. This place is the WORST!!!! read more

We tried to post this to the Exede website and it was not allowed through. We have had this service for 1 year and it is horrible. It is extremely slow, the data is used up quickly (my wife and I surf the internet and check emails...no movies, gaming, etc. and we frequently run out of data AND have installed adware filtering software). It frequently just stops working and our computers are less than 2 years old so not a technology issue. It struggles greatly with VPN, even though I went to a local office to check compatibility PRIOR to signing up. Interesting that it worked OK at the office, yet not at my house. I finally stopped trying to use it for work. Customer service is useless and they will tie you up on the phone for hours trying things that don't help. Best part is that they offered no compensation for any of the inconvenience. It gets better, I called to update my credit card information with a customer service rep and he didn't update it in the system when I called so they shut our service off. We have ended our business relationship with Exede and had to pay off our contract. At this point it is money well spent as we are moving and WILL NOT be taking this slow, unresponsive and horrible customer service contract with us. read more

Worst Internet EVER!! Do not waste your money. I recently moved and inquired with Direct TV on a bundled internet package. They said they could bundle me with a satellite provider. They did not tell me who and I did not ask. I did however directly ask what speed I would be getting. They told me I would be getting at least 25MBPS download which was faster than any other internet I had checked with in the area so I agreed on this bundled package. It took two weeks before someone finally came out to install my internet. Before the installer left I ran a speed test and only came up with 4.05MBPS. When I asked the installer about this he told me it was not his department and that "you cant trust those speed tests". After only one day I could hardly do anything online. It was totally useless and has been for this whole 30 days. When I called and inquired they said I had used up all my primary data after only one day. How is this possible?? I have no Kids, I dont play any games and there are only two of us here that work outside the household every day. I have now had the internet for a total of 30 days and It has been totally useless. Cant' watch facebook videos, cant watch netfilx or youtube. About the only thing I can do is go online on my computer for email and that is slower than my moms dial up internet back in the 90s was. I called and asked what I needed to do to get out of this waste of money. They told me I would have to pay $380.00 to get rid of it. I don't understand how when I was told I would be getting 25MBPS and nothing was even brought up about data usage at the time I signed up that they can expect me to pay to get rid of it. As far as I am concerned the service I was told I would be provided was not ever even close to be met or satisfactory so why should I have to pay for something I did not receive? We live in a rural area and was recommended by Direct TV and have regretted everything since the first day. I informed the agent when we subscribed that I operate a home based business that requires heavy internet traffic and I was advised that there system could far exceed my requirements, lies. I have contacted customer service numerous times to be told that I have never contacted them. I have tried their chat portal, failure! I have emailed and received no response. We average about .032mbps and that is the best on a good day. Today I spoke with customer service and was advised either deal with what you have or pay the disconnect penalty. Did I mention that they exceed in Customer service? I understand that I live in a rural area and satellite internet is probably my best option but if this is the best out there in 2017, my heart breaks for the future. Horrible experiences with this company. Satellite internet is the only option where we live, and we had to sign a 2-year contract before getting service started. Once we were hooked up, it became clear that $79.99 / month was going to get us basically crappy internet that ran out 1/2 way through the month. I cannot justify paying $40 a week for internet. We weren't even streaming movies or TV shows because it would just drain the internet so quickly. I figured out that each movie was costing us between $30 - $50 to stream. If friends or family came over with iPhones and did basic internet things (facebook, google, email) our internet would get drained in a matter of days. Even after we cut out all movies / TV, we just burned through our allotment. When we tried to negotiate our contract, customer service was completely non-responsive. They ended up charging us an early termination fee, even though the service we receive was subpar. So be warned -- absent a death or natural disaster, they won't waive your termination fee. And they do NOT send a technician out to un-install the equipment on your roof. So now we are stuck hiring someone else to get the dish off our roof since it was installed in a location that we can't safely reach ourselves, especially now that it's winter. Even after explaining how dissatisfied we are with our experience, customer service didn't care, and actually blamed us for not complaining more. Overall, do NOT recommend for users in our area (Portland, Oregon). Maybe other regions have better speeds / more reasonably priced packages, but at least in this area the amount you have to pay for consistently crappy internet is definitely not worth it. read more

Can I give them -10? This was horrible. To start with I was told the tech was suppose to check the speed and everything before he left. He rushed out of here. I checked this because I wanted to be sure we would be able to get higher speeds than Direct TV, is what we currently have, and half the price. I was told once he left I couldn't cancel. We were paying for 25 mbps service and getting download speed of 5.61 and upload of 1.27. I tried calling all day, every time the phone system would tell me the option I was choosing was not available. Tried all of them. Went online and got someone via chat. After being on phone for 30 min - told oh yeah they are having issues with speeds in your areas. When would it be resolved? We don't know was their reply. I spoke to supervisor and requested trial period until it was resolved, so if it didn't work, then we could cancel the 2 year contract. oh no you can't do that. You can cancel today. "WARNING" be careful before you get involved with this company, they are not the only alternative when you live out of cables reach. You can google rural internet options and you will be surprised. I found https://outernet.is/ this way. I just canceled my order for my exede system. Let me tell you why I did. I called and ordered the most expensive system they had and I offered to pay for my equipment with a lifetime fee. So I was going all in. They offered me for a hundred and sixty dollars a month a product that is way over priced when you only get up to 12 megs of download speed (which is never the really the constiant speed you recieve) and limited usage as I payed the most for 30 gigs which is nothing when a cable company offers 50 megs of download speed and no limits what you use for forty dollars a month. And you can get up to 300 megs download speed which lets you do alot. Well exede as with all the satellite companies control what you use and charge you more for your normal usage. They want to make alot of money off the one's who need to use a system like this. The main reason I cancelled my order tho is because they never showed up to install system. I had three scheduled install appointments and I took off the 3 days of work to get this over priced product. Well after about 15-20 times of communication they still wanted to rescheduled my appointment for the fourth try as they put it. The only thing the customer service girl Diana Rodrodriges could say was "sorry,, give us another chance" so I cancelled my $1900.00 a year order with them! All I can say after that, is good luck with their business and good luck if you choose this product with a overpriced product and sub-standerd speeds and usage. Let's face it we all wanna watch HD and stream everything, this will not do all that for you!
