At the risk of y'all stealing my swag, I'm going to put you on. I was first drawn to this place by the Alphabet City ringer t that hangs in the window as I often walk by this store on my way to Marshalls. Marshalls is undefeated. I initially resisted purchasing but on one day with the post gym endorphins flowing through me like white water rapids, I had no choice but to go in and buy the shirt. While in there, I saw like 10 other items that were screaming at me. This is not your run of the mill gift shop with mass produced items. Everything I saw in here was unique. Tote bags, clothing, candles, and every little trinket you could think of. Today, I was walking by and saw the converse-hanging-from-a-wire shirt in the window. With the post workout endorphins again having me in a chokehold, I had to cop. Right when I got home my roommate says, "damn that shirt is hard bro!" BIG W. I'm 2 for 2 in here!! read more

The employees literally hate children, so if you have children and come here, prepare to be watched like a hawk. They also have 0 mannerisms, the employees talk about their problems out in the open, when they're taking lunch. Came in multiple times, never heard a hello, a hi, nothing. To be clear, this was beyond "watching." This was literally followed step for step all the while *pretending* like they were doing something else, adjusting bottles that didn't need adjusting etc. I was the only one that was treated this way while other shoppers did not receive this treatment. Am I still a little salty about it? Maybe. But this store clearly has a track record of targeting shoppers which is completely inappropriate. Very cute store for fun and quirky gifts for all occasions. A nice selection of baby/kid gifts plus decorative items, knick knacks, and greeting cards. The thing that really made this place stand out was the service! My friend found a cute gummy bear shaped lamp for her nephew and they took time to nicely wrap it and tie it up with a cute ribbon. When it started to rain heavily, the clerk came out with a plastic bag to try to protect it from the rain (they use paper bags). My girl T and I continued to try and wait out the storm when I remembered to check in and saw a 25% discount! We go back in the store and sheepishly ask if they would honor the discount and they don't give us any hassle and refund the difference right away. Cool store with great staff. This store has evolved since it's been here; originally they had greeting cards with cryptic messages and things you couldn't imagine using, never mind giving as gifts. I particularly like their stock of books, including "Secret Lives of the U.S. Presidents" and one I just noticed about the Chelsea Hotel's history that I'll probably have to get. Seriously, their book selection is very good and gift-able. I also got a "brass knuckle" clutch there (and I never carry clutch purses, but I love the design of this one.) Went in to find a replacement copy of Understand Rap: Explanations of Confusing Rap Lyrics that You & Your Grandma Can Understand, because it brought hours and hours of smiles to our family. They were waiting for a new shipment, so in the meantime I bought a book called "Shit Happens', a craft kit for making super cute pom-pom puppies and a t-shirt of Abrahan Lincoln playing electric guitar. As soon as me and my child walked in the lady at the counter didn't say hi to us and immediately followed us. While trying to enjoy the store and looking around, I saw her following us the entire time. She stated I was paranoid in a comment and looking out a window (ugh isn't that what tourist do, they look at everything around them DUH). When I asked her if she would like to help me because she's been following me all through the store, she said she does that to every one. That I believe is a BOLD FACE LIE (she probably wouldn't have if we weren't two Latinas walking into her store). If you want to check in with your customers rude lady why not ask if they need any help and don't make them feel unwanted and if they are going to steal. I would never spend my money in a place like this with someone who follows you and stereotypes you. Spend your money else where this women overcharges and you can find these items else where for cheep and at least in a mom and pop shop that makes you feel wanted and not like a thief for being a women of color. It's one of the best stores I ever been in. Great variety of products which includes bags, enamel pins, patches, socks and much more. They also have lots of feminist stuff like socks, pins. And yes their AMAZING selection of tattoos (which is $5 each set of 2). The prices aren't cheap ,but not high. Pretty nice location, there's pizzeria just across the street also an "Alphabet" store on the next block ( you should check it out if you like Exit 9) and a huge candy store near them. I would totally recommend this store to the people who like cute stuff. And again you should go to the places near that store. read more

This store is really cool. All kinds of cool little gifts and joke things that you see in magazines or on the internet. I bought an OCD Chef's cutting board...it has a grid and all kinds of stuff imprinted on it, look it up, they're cool. SO RUDE! BUYER BEWARE! This store is NOTHING special. Everything in it can be bought at fred flare or urban outfitters. On top of that, they are extremely rude. I was told I could not look at a product at the counter where it was located before purchase and I had to "do that somewhere else" (with it's boxes and everything, in a such a small store-it didn't make sense). They even had a huge attitude at the fact I wanted to check the product for the correct color (it turned out not to be correct, not the store's fault, but good thing I checked!)
