Looking for a few colorful fish (not goldfish) and a tank as a gift for my daughter. The employee assisted me finding a few fish that would be reasonable size for the circumference of the tank and I'm no expert in the field of amphibious aquatics. These swimming critters ranged from $15.00 to north of $450.00. I knew that she would like multi-colored fish and this store had many options. The Tomini Tang and the PJ Cardinal were cool looking fish. They also provide fish tanks and accessories including fish food and cleaning products. OK, story Time Out of the way, I called these guys up on my way home. They happen to have keto algae. I had never been in there before it seemed nice clean. Ben the guy behind the counter. Was awesome. He was able to take care of getting me some keto algae. We also talked about the small frag tank and he convinced me without being pushy at all to get a mushroom and some Xenia. If you're looking for a really big massive store with people that don't pay attention to you go somewhere else if you're looking for somewhere that knows how to deal with customer service check these guys out. Been coming here for years, lately the service has slipped but today was incredible. I bought 5 gallons of water for my tank, totaling 4.28. I gave him a five but he rang it up before I could hand him the 28 cents. He wouldn't take the 28 cents and give me a dollar back because he had already rang it up. Then he didn't want to give me the change, when I finally left the store it was short 2 cents. Where do you find employees that can't do simple math, don't listen to customers and don't apply logic or reason? read more

Reading some of the other -- pretty wild -- reviews, I think that before I say anything about this LFS, I mention that there are three reef aquarium shops within a mile or so of each other. I have been to all three and have no issue with any of them. That being said, Exotic Aquatic is the brightest store with easy to read printed labels for fish and corals. They also have some amazing display pieces which to me is a sign of healthy systems. While I prefer live rock from another area store, this store has amazing looking frags, small colonies, and clown fish. Given the well lit set up, you can really get a good look at the frags ahead of buying -- which I really appreciated. I ended up getting a frag. I followed WWC's recent advice on acclamation (squirt some salt water on the base to clean off any hitchhikers, hold off on dipping to avoid stressing the new guy out and place plug in the sand bed in lowest lit area to let the coral adjust). The only hitchhiker I found was a feather duster worm which was very cool (also even if a unpleasant hitchhiker came along I wouldn't get upset we are playing with the wild oceans people!). I will certainly be coming back for some more frags and clownfish. read more

I was just informed that a piece of live rock that we had bought from this place contained metal. The owner Rob, said that it was OK to put into the Fishtank. I was very disappointed that after visiting them several times since I am starting a seawater aquarium and making small purchases, I was fraudulently charge on my Amex $321 for something I did not buy. I called to report it and the staff agent went even further accusing me of taking bags of corals, illegally charging me for items I did not buy. I Contacted the owner but I don't think he really cared. Disappointed but there Is another place literally a block away. review your charges immediately to avoid wasting your time on the phone with your credit card. read more

They have great variety of great quality fish for both fresh and saltwater. All of their employees are very knowledgeable of all their stock and are super friendly and helpful. I have had many issues installing my new salt water tank and stumbled across this store on East Commercial Blvd. The store is awesome and the customer service is impeccable. They answered all of my issues and told me how to correct everything. Now my salt water tank is up and running I can add more salt water fish. Very disappointed in this store I decided to buy several fish from this store which cost me roughly $240 and within a couple days these fish infected my tank and killed over $1,000 of live stock My professional aquarium maintenance man told me it was ich and I had no signs before and he was just at my house before I added the fish The store worker wanted to transferred me to the manager but said he would call me back soon, since he was not there in the middle of the day. I than called at the end of the day about 4 hours after that first call and the manager forgot to call me and immediately said he can't help me and I would need to contact the owner. I was in contact with the owner and passed back to the manager who said he could not help before The owner won't contact me back THINK TWICE BEFORE BUYING FROM THEM THEY DO NOT TREAT THEIR CUSTOMERS RIGHT VERY DISAPPOINTED they lied about ich since I see other reviews that had issues and the story the manager gave me does not make sense and he was very nervous was I went to the store and spoke to him face to face will not be going back ever. read more

Eh, I very rarely disagree with fellow Yelpers, but this is one time where I just simply don't get the high ratings. I personally keep freshwater fish and the fish here look terrible.. :( a lot of them are sick or just in rough shape. They don't have many supplies for dry goods or tanks, just mostly salt water fish. I don't personally keep salt water but their stuff looks so so. The customer service is very hit or miss... I visited this store very briefly after spotting it this weekend. Although they do have a very small freshwater section this place is really geared toward saltwater aquarists. The store is clean; the fish seem to be kept well. They have a large tank in the middle as you walk in that is awesome. Take a look at the reef, just extraordinary and full of color and life. They aren't as large as some stores and I did not make any purchases, however, the quality and selection of both fish and coral seemed great. read more

Stopped by this shop as ORA recommended since they might offer shipping services to CA. I asked a worker if Rob was available, but apparently he wasn't at the shop on Sunday. I asked if they ship and he stated no and just left it at that. I had a feeling that the worker didn't want to help me so I left and went to Hydra Aquatics. I feel bad that I didn't get to talk to Rob and hope he gets more customer service oriented workers as he lost a sale. Some larger pieces of coral were reasonable prices, but only in town due to going on a cruise. If I plan to stop back in town I will try other shops that answer customer questions and provide advice. read more

This place never has Artificial Water, regardless or the day or time. The staff is very lazy and does not make it regularly. Why offer a product that you never have! The fish are decent but they don't have much variety. The staff is all college age kids with typical millennial mentality. Where has good customer service gone. read more

Had a stable tank, bought 2 Anthias. Within 4 days both had developed diseases and died off. On had his eye all bubbled up. So the devastating part was the after math. My Sohal Tang came sick as well, followed by a bad case of ich. Well bottom line, lost the 2 Anthias, Large Sohal Tang and Yellow Tang. Basically, do not buy from this place.
