Before purchasing a 1959 Corvette C1 project from Anthony Lahner, I was warned by several people to be careful. Despite those warnings, I chose to trust him. I paid the agreed purchase price without negotiation, provided a deposit immediately, and completed the transaction in good faith because I genuinely believed I was dealing with an honest seller who was going through a difficult period. At no point during the purchase process did I have a bad feeling. Even after discovering the issues, my first reaction was not to leave a negative review. Instead, I personally visited Anthony's shop in Los Angeles during a later trip to discuss everything face to face and give him every opportunity to resolve the situation privately. My understanding of the transaction was that I was purchasing a complete 1959 Corvette C1 project vehicle with the associated parts and components. What ultimately arrived in Germany was substantially different from what I believed I had purchased. The shipment consisted primarily of the fiberglass body shell, the windshield frame, the hood, and a limited number of smaller parts. The shell arrived damaged because the frame that i have purchased it was removed by him at the airport and then the body just tied to some wood. Many components that I expected to be included were not present. Among them were various chrome, trim pieces, interior components, mounting hardware, and numerous other parts that I understood to be part of the project. The result was that I was left with a major restoration challenge and significant unexpected costs to source, repair, or reproduce missing items. [[HIGHLIGHT]]What disappoints me most is not the financial loss. It is the fact that I genuinely tried to solve the issue privately, respectfully, and directly. During our conversation in Los Angeles, I believed we had reached an understanding and that the outstanding matters would be addressed. Unfortunately, after I left, communication gradually stopped and my subsequent messages went unanswered.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I guess he just wanted no scene in front of his clients. All relevant details were documented in a written agreement. Unfortunately, being based in Germany while the seller is located in the United States created a legal hurdle that I initially did not want to take on. However, after years of trying to resolve this matter respectfully and privately, I have now decided to pursue the appropriate legal and criminal remedies available to me in order to protect my rights and address what happened. The rim was brand new and had never been repaired. Sadly you cant own your own responsibility. Your team attempted the repairing cracked the rim. You even c j arged me for it. You were upset that I was having different pieces on my land rover painted at a price your team quoted. When you discovered it prevented overcharging for complete paint packages you made it clear I couldn't do that anymore. Terrible business and ethics. You get one start cause I cant give 0. read more

ABSOLUTE HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! There are plenty of other retailers out there and I HIGHLY suggest finding someone else as not worth the risk. I had a ppf completed on a brand new 911 Turbo S and it is less than 6 months later and there are NUMEROUS problems with it including dirt underneath. I had another expert review the ppf and they said it was a very poor job. Brought an Exotic Mercedes here years ago. Minor bumper damage, they painted the whole car, undid the doors and pretty much screwed everything up. Doors are unaligned. Trunk is unaligned. Pain job is crap. Mercedes asked who did such a crappy job. Used aftermarket parts. Couldn't even assemble a mirror correctly, pressing up goes down and vice versa. They're crooks. Stay away. Mercedes SLS gullwing that you did back in 2015/2016. You remember well. Trash service. Just deny the crap work you did is your only option. read more

Trying to avoid an idiot I clipped a corner curb and scrapped my rim pretty bad, including taking out a couple decent sized chunks of alloy. I thought the rim was a goner and immidiately started researching the purchase of new OEM rim, but not wanting to pay BMW dealer prices. On a whim I stopped by Exoticar just to see if it was repairable. They said it was fixable and quoted me a price too good to not give them a shot. I brought my car in the next morning and a few hours later it was ready. I got to say, I was really impressed - looks brand new. They did an awesome job and a little under the 1st $ quote. Anthony runs the best auto repair shop in LA. Family owned, honest and trust worthy prices and exceptional, excellent work. I've taken 4 luxury cars here (R8, Bentley, 911, X Plaid). They've repaired all of them in a short time (1 week or so) from a busted taillight, break lights, tire damage, door dents, paint scratches and more. The cars would come back brand new. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Once the door squeaked on the 911 after fixing it, so they said I can come in any time to fix it same day (and fixed it).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They also would install license plates and small stuff for me for free on the side when I needed a favor. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I'm a younger women with no much hands on car experience so I appreciate the help.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They also are honest -- they send transparent quotes of the parts, labor, etc. Finally they have integrity --- they charged me less than a quote once cause they were able to fix it with less labor than the estimate stated. Thanks Anthony and team! My R8 had a broken taillight and some dents in the back, plus a broken arm rest holder as the lid snapped off from my dog. It took a few weeks for identifying parts & finishing repairs but the job was perfect and excellent! Only feedback is they mentioned it'll take 1 week in shop, but it took more 2.5-3 weeks (totally ok, just wish I knew cause my rental was a large car hard to drive haha!). The finish work is just ok. Be prepared for delays, damage to your vehicle, missing parts, poor communication and updates, failure to accept responsibility for mistakes made, blame you for problems, and outright lies. 6 series BMW: 4 months! to detail, wrap and powder coat wheels. Wheels had to be balanced elsewhere for more time/expense. Car returned with cut dashboard-blamed me for bringing it in that way (BS) and then blamed it on the sun. They finally did fix it-more delays. Wrap is now peeling off. 3 series BMW: car returned after more than a month! from detailing with work done that wasn't requested (boosted the bill), work not done that was requested, missing parts, damaged car while moving it around in their facility, and damaged wheels requiring more work elsewhere for more time/expense. I know others have touted attention to detail, but the experience I had with Anthony and my '63 Lemans convertible was *completely* different. I didn't hear back for 2 weeks after drop off, so I called. Not a big deal, since they could have been very busy. He said he wouldn't recommend doing the work and said the pre-purchase inspector missed a number of issues. I arranged for a tow (b/c of rear suspension issue). He said he'd put the battery on a trickle charger beforehand and I reminded him the day of pickup. It never happened. It showed up to my house dead - turned the key and just got a click. Had to push it into its spot and ruptured my achilles in the process. He also said he'd email me, "a bunch of pictures on his phone," of the things he saw underneath, to show why he advised against the repairs and the problems that were missed in its pre-purchase inspection. After asking him 3 times, I still haven't gotten them. And it's been 3+ weeks since I reminded him last. They may be great mechanics, but I can't vouch for that. All I can speak to is the fact that Anthony didn't live up to either of his commitments, despite multiple requests (and reminders). read more

I met Anthony Lahner in 2009 when he had a mobile business and came to my home and did the work there....can you say convenient!? Anthony was extremely professional and did an excellent job on my BMW rim. You would of never known that I even scratched the rim. (see pics). We met again in 2013 at his first shop when he fixed my Alpina B7 rim.....again, looked brand new. (see pics). And now its 2015...and I needed to fix my diamond forged rims...which can be more tricky then your standard rims. I went to the new location....sooo nice and big!? I went less then a block away to grab a starbucks, sat and waited in their nice lobby on my computer with their wifi. An hour and a half later, my car was done and my rim looked like new. (see pics) Obviously I don't want to have to call Anthony....but if there is anyone I trust more with my cars, its him. I'm a "stock" car kind of girl....but he does some awesome modifications. I've been a car collector and enthusiast for more than 30 years and I can honestly state my experience with Anthony and Exoticar was the most unprofessional, worst customer service I have ever experienced! Anthony screwed upon once set of wheels, as explained below, and then even more shockingly, stated he was finishing another set of my wheels, ended having them for years....and when I finally went there in person to check on the wheels I discovered he had not refinished the wheels, and despite having my wheels forever, stated he would not do what he had promised and contracted to do! He told me to take my wheels as they were! Even my girlfriend was shocked when she saw how he behaved. Not only did he fail to take responsibility for his poor work, but then he said he would not do what he was contracted to do! A little background: I took two sets of wheels to Anthony to be refinished, HRE wheels and a set of Ferrari wheels. First, after dropping the wheels off Anthony failed to do the work in the time he said he would. I would have to call repeatedly, week after week. I would get excuse after excuse. His employees, a lady receptionist and a guy from the shop, were really apologetic and indicated that's just how Anthony is. At the time I did not need the wheels immediately so I was patient. Finally, MONTHS later, Anthony tells me the wheels are ready. I come to his shop in West LA near the 405 and one set is not done at all and the 3-piece HRE wheels, very expensive wheels, are poorly finished. So poorly refinished they don't look like the newly refinished wheels at all. I was surprised by the poor quality particularly given how long Anthony had my wheels for. He then said that was the best he could do, that he could not properly refinish the HRE wheels. So I took the HRE wheels. I left the Ferrari wheels as they were simple one piece 14" wheels. I figured, there is no way he can screw up basic silver alloy wheels. Upon receiving the HRE wheels back I had new Continental Contact Sport tires mounted and the wheels and tires fitted to the car. Surprise! All of the wheels were now leaking air! I called Anthony's shop and spoke to one of his employees who said the wheels could be leaking from the seals or from the tire stems which he indicated they may have installed the wrong stems! Now many more months pass. Week after week I call Anthony Update Rather than remedy the issues Anthony, you've posted a Reply that is not honest. I did inform you of the leaking HRE wheels when I first discovered the issue immediately after they were put on the car. I then informed your employee when I ran into him outside the Pirelli store on Santa Monica Blvd. When I told him about the leaking tires and asked when the other wheels would ever be finished, he just shrugged his shoulders in a way that told me he knew there were problems with your shop but didn't want to say more. He informed me that you had not put the right valve stems on the HRE wheels. But here's the proof of your being dishonest. When I reminded you the HRE wheels are just as they were when you refinished them, that they all leak air, and I asked you to repair the leaks you caused by fitting the wrong valves and likely improperly resealing the 3-piece wheel, your response was, "I'm not doing anything." When I asked you why you had not finished the single piece wheels and when I could expect you to finish the wheels I had dropped off for refinishing long ago you said again, "I'm not doing anything. I am putting your wheels outside on the sidewalk." Now that's the reality! Oh, and your nonsense about walking into your shop, I drove to the exact same place where I had dropped off the wheels, where cars are driven in and out, where you had no problem with me coming to drop my wheels off. And as far as entering your shop, I asked your employees where I might find you and they told me to go to your office, which is in the front area of the shop. They pointed the direction for me to walk, so I had been given instructions to walk to your office via the shop. Bottom line: This review was written because you damaged one set of wheels and failed to repair the damage you caused. Second, because after numerous phone calls asking the status of my wheels being refinished, and after getting the run around of excuses from you seemingly forever, I find all this time later they are still not refinished! And a normal upstanding business person would apologize and say, "I'm sorry your wheels have been sitting here and we failed to do the work we agreed to do when you dropped them off. We'll take care of it right away." Instead, you Anthony told me, "I'm not doing anything" and "I'm putting your wheels out front on the sidewalk." Good thing I have a third party witness who saw heard everything you said and did....plus photographs. read more
