Nearly 7 Hours on the Phone. Still No Resolution. Avoid. If I could give Expedia zero stars, I would. I have contacted Expedia more than six times over an unresolved ~$800 flight credit, spending over 6 hours and 58 minutes on the phone with at least four different representatives. I have gotten nowhere. The misinformation has been relentless. First I was told I could use my credit directly with the airline. Then I was told I had to wait a full year from cancellation. I waited. I was then told the issue was resolved and to contact the airline, which I did, multiple times. Every single time, the airline confirmed the same thing: they refunded my ticket to Expedia over a year ago, the credit is sitting open on Expedia's end, and Expedia needs to release it. Yet Expedia keeps closing the loop on their end and telling me it's fixed. I even have emails from them saying so, while nothing has actually changed. To make matters worse, multiple representatives refused to transfer me to a supervisor until I asked five or more times and got extremely firm about it. That alone says everything about how Expedia treats its customers when things go wrong. This is not a miscommunication. This is deliberate obstruction to force me to rebook through Expedia after I've had nothing but bad experiences with them. I will not be intimidated into using a service that has treated me this way. I am now pursuing formal complaints with the BBB and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and am looking into small claims court. I'm sharing this review so others know what they're getting into. Book directly with the airline. Save yourself this nightmare. read more

I am extremely upset and disappointed with my experience booking through Expedia. When plans change--which is a normal part of travel--you quickly discover that the reservation cannot be modified or refunded. By that point, the payment has already been processed, and Expedia simply points to the hidden disclosure as justification for keeping your money. What makes this even more upsetting is the lack of support once the problem occurs. Customer service repeatedly falls back on the same explanation: "Those were the terms when you booked." Meanwhile, the customer is left feeling misled, frustrated, and financially stuck. Expedia points to the airline or hotel, and the airline or hotel points back to Expedia. In the end, no one takes responsibility, and the customer loses their money. This experience feels incredibly unfair and deceptive. If something is truly non-refundable, that information should be clear, bold, and impossible to miss before payment is completed. Instead, the current system allows important restrictions to remain hidden until it's too late. Travel companies should operate with transparency and fairness. Unfortunately, my experience with Expedia left me feeling deceived, disappointed, and taken advantage of. Expedia makes it ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE to speak with an agent. And, if and when you ever do speak to an agent, it'll be someone with access to your customer information in INDIA, nice, pleasant but hard to understand. I have two accounts under two different emails and wanted to merge the two into one, under a single email. The Expedia AI and phone tree sends you into a rabbit hole of HELL. Asking repeatedly for an itinerary number when "none" is the answer. It says there's some form to complete to speak to an agent 24/7 but no such agent was ever accessible. The tsunami of NEGATIVE reviews tells the story about what's going on with Expedia. I'm old enough to recall when Expedia was much better than this. Disappointed Experience with Expedia and Hotel Coordination I was really hoping to leave a positive review for this hotel and our experience booking through Expedia. Unfortunately, things have gone quite poorly, and I feel it's important to share our situation. Due to a recent and unexpected death in our family, we had to cancel a trip that was scheduled more than a week in advance. As soon as we learned what had happened, we contacted both Expedia and the hotel to explain the situation and request a cancellation or refund. We purchased Expedia's trip protection specifically for situations like this. However, the support from both parties has been extremely frustrating. Expedia refers us to the hotel, and the hotel refers us back to Expedia. We've spent well over 30 to 45 minutes on hold with each, with no resolution. My wife has called the hotel several times and has received no meaningful assistance or empathy. It's especially disappointing considering we prepaid for the reservation and added the cancellation protection. We expected some level of flexibility or compassion given the circumstances. Instead, we've been met with indifference and a complete lack of ownership from both Expedia and the hotel--particularly disheartening coming from a large and reputable chain like Hilton. I've had great experiences in the past with other booking platforms and hotel groups, but this situation has truly been a nightmare. Unless something changes, I cannot in good faith recommend using Expedia or staying with this particular hotel brand again. read more

Booked a trip to Hawaii back in December. Flight to and from, hotel and car rental. $3,866.10. Received all my confirmation numbers except for the flight out. Called and they said that the original bookings would be canceled but to Rebook it would be another $3,653.00 and I would receive a refund on my card. 3 months, dozens of phone calls, and hours on the phone and they refuse to give me the $3866.10 back. Our dream vacation has been nothing but a nightmare! Don't take them at their word because it obviously means nothing to them. I even have copies of the email stating the refund amount. My experience with Expedia has been nothing short of a nightmare, and I feel compelled to share my story so others can beware. Here's where it all went downhill: I booked two hotel rooms in Miami for one night. We flew from LA to Miami the night before our cruise. The hotel itself was beautiful and clean -- initially, everything seemed fine. But that's where the good news ended. At 11 pm, when I went to take a shower, I discovered there was NO hot water. I immediately called the front desk, but was rerouted to reservations. After waiting on hold, I tried again -- same outcome. Frustrated, I went down to the front desk. The manager told me he could change our rooms. So, at around 12:30 am, we moved to a different room on a different floor -- only to find out that this room also had no hot water. It became painfully clear that the entire hotel was out of hot water. Morning came, and still no hot water. The hotel staff apologized and refunded our money directly to Expedia -- a total of $1,877.96. I contacted Expedia to confirm whether they received the refund and when I would be reimbursed. After four days of silence, they finally responded with a dismissive message: "The hotel didn't refund you, and they denied it. There's nothing we can do." I then reached out to the hotel again, only to be told that they did indeed process the refund to Expedia, and that Expedia is responsible for refunding me. This back-and-forth went on, with Expedia standing firm and refusing to take responsibility. Let me be clear: When someone rents a hotel room in the 21st century, they have reasonable expectations of basic facilities -- and one of the most fundamental is hot water. It's not an unreasonable demand; it's a basic human necessity. Hotels should be able to provide this, especially when they accept payment in advance. What's most troubling here is the blatant disregard for customer service and the complete lack of accountability. Expedia's unwillingness to stand behind their customers and resolve such straightforward issues is appalling. This experience has left me feeling scammed, and I will never trust Expedia again. To anyone considering booking through Expedia: Be warned. Your money might be safe, but your expectations for basic amenities and customer service are not. Expedia is absolutely terrible! They ruined mine and my husband's vacation to Dominican Republic. We checked into a resort advertised by Expedia as 5 stars and checked out within one hour due to the terrible conditions at this resort. The room was absolutely disgusting and the food was inedible. The resort itself was run down and in a terrible location. We submitted a refund request through Expedia and it was denied due to us not cancelling within 24 hours of our check in date. Make it make sense!!!! After going back and forth with Expedia customer service for over a week, I just got off the phone with a supervisor that can only refund us $300 of our total reservation amount of over $1500!!!! I am submitting a formal complaint regarding discriminatory treatment related to my language request, unresolved billing issues, and failure to complete my reservation. During a recent call, I requested assistance in Spanish and was told "due to protocol" the representative could only speak English. I asked for an interpreter or Spanish-speaking agent and was told this was not possible. The person who stated this identified himself as a supervisor named Rodolfo. Instead of assisting, he repeatedly blamed my bank, which I found dismissive and unprofessional. I was told my card was "declined," yet my Bank of America account shows multiple pending transactions: *⁠ ⁠Three charges of $504.26 (American Airlines) *⁠ ⁠Two $1.00 processing charges All show "Processing - amount may change." My reservation total was $1,343.00, yet $1,514.78 is being held, causing financial stress and limiting access to my funds. Despite these charges, the reservation was never confirmed. I was not offered proper assistance to rebook or proceed with the reservation while adjusting the charges. I was only told to wait for funds to be released. This reflects both a customer service failure and discriminatory handling of my language-access request. Please confirm receipt and provide a case reference number. read more

Buyers Beware. Expedia will do nothing for you if you have a problem with your schedule. No matter if you buy the insurance or not. Plus they now use AI for booking and they continually put in a different date than you selected and then they won't refund. Terrible company and I'm sending a report to the Attorney General and BBB. Expedia basically robbed my family for a flight! We were attempting to make a trip abroad, but to get the travel visa we needed to show proof of flight and stay. We booked through Expedia WITH THE RECOMMENDED FLIGHT PROTECTION just in case anything should happen with the visa. Unfortunately the visa got denied. When we went to cancel and get our refund, we were told we cannot get a refund, that the flight protection only covers if the airline cancels (which was not made clear upon purchase), and that there is nothing Expedia can do. At that time, I was assured by an Expedia representative that your team would reach out to the resort--RIU Hotels & Resorts--to discuss the situation and attempt to waive cancellation penalties. However, despite repeated follow-ups on my part, I was continually told that the resort could not be reached and that I should keep waiting. This lack of action caused understandable concern, especially considering the urgency of the situation and how close the travel dates were. I made multiple calls to Expedia in the days that followed and continued to request assistance and resolution in good faith. At every turn, I was reassured that the matter was being handled and that my request was reasonable under the circumstances. What's especially troubling is that I also personally reached out to RIU Resorts, and their representatives clearly informed me that they were not the ones blocking the cancellation or refund--that it was Expedia who was unwilling to process it. This directly contradicts what your team led me to believe. To date, I have received no resolution. In fact, I've now been told by Expedia that there is "nothing that can be done," which I find unacceptable given: The extenuating circumstance (a death in the family), The timeliness of my original request, The fact that we did not take the trip at all, and The confirmation from RIU that they are not preventing a refund or credit. I have done my part to inform Expedia promptly and cooperate fully throughout the process. I am asking that you now do the same by honoring a reasonable and compassionate resolution. read more

The customer service guy said it was the hotel's doing and the hotel said it was Expedia. Either way, I had to block them from any future fraudulent transactions from being taken from my account. I booked hotel stay through Expedia and was charged twice for the same reservation (Tripdesk and Expedia). I called Expedia's customer service department, placed on hold for an extended length of time, spoke to several supervisors, provided documentation of the double charges, and still the issue was not resolve. I asked to speak to someone in the corporate office and supervisor gave me a number that is out of service. After several more calls to Expedia customer service and receiving multiple case numbers, the complaint is not resolve and my overpayment reimbursed. I booked 2 hotel rooms for six nights in May. When I checked my VISA statement for another reason I saw Expedia had duplicated the booking and charged me twice for the exact same booking-rooms, dates, names. Even though I bought the "Booking Protection Plan" , after two weeks of back and forth with their reps on the phone, they refused to delete the duplicate booking or refund my charge. So jumping ahead... find rooms on Expedia if you want, then DO NOT EVER book rooms with Expedia, just call that hotel and book directly. The rates will probably be lower anyway. I've been booking all my flights with Expedia for 25 years and now this total $1500 (plus bogus $65 protection plan) rip off. They've lost their mission and competence. They overbooked the motel I had reservations at. They canceled my room and didnt tell me. When I called they offered me another room at another motel that had no cold water. I had to drive home 5 hours because of there screw up and they acted like it was no big deal to them. Stay away from this horrible company read more

shockingly terrible experience. bought a ticket with a low cancellation fee. called to cancel, got cutoff, they didn't call me back after I'd waited 2 hours. 2 more reps and they said they'd do a call back for a special dept the next day when cancellation wasn't possible online. 5-6 emails I sent with fake customer rep responses, 3 days of contacting them with no response and still no cancellation, I've been sent down a rabbit hole to find a special dept to get the cancellation, seems like a ploy to make it impossible to cancel. I'm going to make a significant complaint to BBB if this isn't resolved asap and file fraud with my cc company. This is over $1000 I need to love and can't afford to lose. NOWHERE on their website does it state that you have to put a $5000 deposit down for a rental car and when we went to pick up the car that was exactly what EUROCAR in cozumel did and they have several complaints about the same company and they refused to refund us. I booked four people for trip to Aruba. One of my friend burst their ear drum just two days prior to trip and could not fly. Called to see if any refund and cancel this one person. They claimed because medical would get some money back. However, they said I had to pay to rebook - I had to pay $4900 to rebook three people. We were prepared to lose the cost for the one person, but not only did we lose some of it, we had to pay and extra $4900 to rebook. This was insane - it is like we paid twice for the three who went. Plus, they claimed I would get refund and one of the refunds, the resort refund has not been returned. Bait and switch. I tried to book a hotel on Expedia at JFK airport. When I realized the reservation did not go thru I logged in again got all the way to check out and the room had gone up by $50. Booked a car rental through expedia and we thought we paid everything upfront. When we got to Sixt to pick up the car the price doubled with additional charges. We decided to deal with it afterwards bc we needed the car then. When I tried to figure out the additional fees with expedia they told me to call sixt and vice versa. I was calling back and forth trying to clarify why the fees weren't identified upfront and ended up with expedia refusing responsibility. Expedia claims it has a tab on its website disclaiming additional fees. Word to the wise -be careful booking through expedia because your quoted price may double at the last minute. Underhanded? Yes. We used Expedia's ticket office inside the Embassy Suites to arrange our trip to Epcot. All in all, we had four encounters with their service. Number One - we approached their sales counter and were met by an agent who was more interested in her computer screen than in acknowledging we were standing there. When she finally looked up and saw us, she said zippo -so to avoid increasing the awkwardness and ick factor, we ended up greeting her! She gave us the details of the Epcot trip, and we said we'd be back after breakfast. Number Two - we went back to buy our tickets, and she had markedly improved her disposition and customer service skills. She was pleasant and fairly charming. Number Three - our coach arrived promptly on schedule and we had a great ride to Epcot. Our driver said the return bus would be at 5:50 pm and we should meet the bus at 5:50 pm in parking lane 42. Number Four - This was an EPIC FAIL. 5:50 - no bus, 6:00 - no bus, 6:10 - no bus, 6:15 no bus. A half hour later than the scheduled pickup, our bus arrived. Now mind you, we walked onto a bus that was supposed to be there 30 minutes earlier, and the driver said NOTHING. No explanation, no apologies, no small talk, no acknowledgement of their failed customer service, just nothing. Halfway into our wait, I called the number on our receipt and was met by an answering machine that gave me the option of leaving a message. Just freaking horrible........... read more
