Be careful with this company. We called them because the refrigerator was making a very loud noise. The technician came and said the fan and the thermostat sensor needed to be replaced. They charged $407 that same day, demanding full payment or they wouldn't proceed with the work. We made the payment, and the following week the technician returned and performed the repairs. After the technician left, the refrigerator started making the same noise again. We called, and the technician came back a few days later after we reported that the noise continued. From the very first visit, we explained the urgency of fixing the refrigerator: my father is bedridden and seriously ill, and my mother is also elderly. They are home 24 hours a day, and the constant noise is very distressing for them. When the technician returned, he had a negative attitude and insisted it was impossible for the refrigerator to still be making noise because he had already replaced the fan and the thermostat sensor. He simply refused to replace the parts again. We have called multiple times--both my father's caregivers and I, his daughter. At first, they said they would come to check it, but they never showed up. It has now been over a month, and what Mr. Alex tells us is that the manager says they will not return to my parents' home to inspect the issue because they already did the work and installed a new fan and thermostat, and they are refusing to honor any warranty. Because my father is bedridden, the day the technician came to perform the repair, only my father and one of the caregivers were present. I could not be there because I was at work. Now my father, a sick veteran, has lost $407, and this company refuses to repair what they were paid to fix. read more

In early June, I called Expert Appliance to resolve an issue where my refrigerator was not providing power to the lamp. I told them I had tried new light bulbs, so it must be some other component such as the switch. I didn't know for certain what the issue was, and lacking time to debug it myself, that's why I called them. They promptly came out, and told me it was because I was using an LED bulb as a replacement. That was a curious explanation, because the LED bulb worked in the bathroom socket, but I accepted the answer. The tech tested the switch and it was good, and said he measured the voltage on the socket. Thus, I had no reason at that time to argue with him. A day or so later, I bought a normal bulb for use in the refrigerator. Installed this, and naturally, it didn't work. Tested the bulb in a different socket in the house, and bulb was fine. I expected that. The LED bulbs worked too (in the bath room lamp for instance). I began to suspect I was fed bologna (proper word is likely prohibited from this review). Looked on-line and the story they spun about "LED won't work in a refrigerator" is a half truth. Some LEDs don't like to get moist, but these were right out of the box, and they should at least light up. People up north use them on their front porch where it gets colder and wetter than a refrigerator. I'm not upset that the tech didn't fix the issue. He thought he understood the issue, but he didn't. No big deal. The problem is the response I got from the owner when I called the office to get them to fix this! He insisted that nothing is wrong. That was a strange thing to insist when new bulbs that are known to work, will not work when I put them to the refrigerator. I explained that several times. I told him I agree, it might not be the door switch, but something is broken, maybe a wire is loose or something. That's when he went into full bologna mode. Told me "if it's a wire, it's not going to be repairable" (these are standard wires, going to a 9 pin connector that I can buy on Amazon for $5.95, also, even as a child, I was able to build wiring harnesses). He insisted that it's a simple circuit consisting of a switch and socket. Nothing can be wrong. He also said he's had LED bulbs not work when they come right out of the box. I told him we've been through that. These work, I tested them. I told you that. At that point, he claimed he doesn't have time to discuss this, and demanded that I tell him if I want them to order a switch or not?? Wrong way to handle this. It wasn't for me to figure out what was wrong. It's not fixed, but I paid for a service call. The refrigerator still needed service. STAND BY YOUR WORK! I decided I had to figure it out. This was time I didn't want to spend, but I now had no choice. Turns out, there's a circuit board in there. The door switch doesn't go to the light socket as he insisted! The door switch goes into some circuitry, and the light socket is controlled by a little relay that is soldered on the circuit board. The door switch doesn't simply control the light bulb because the little computer likes to count how many times the doors been open, and decide it might want to run a defrost cycle. The circuitry turns the light on through activation of a little relay. Interesting. Also, the wires to the switch are small gauge wires, but the ones to the light switch are twice as thick. Obvious when you look at it. When the tech said he tested the socket, I'm betting he put one of the meter probes on the switch, thinking it was the same wire, and picked up the common from the light socket. I had to order a new circuit board, and installed it. After tax and shipping, it was under $200. Now it works!! NO thanks to Expert Appliance. It's funny that he was bragging about his "40 years in this business", but he tells me silly things such as "wires aren't repairable", "switch goes directly to the light socket", and insisting I have a bad bulb, even though he was told repeatedly that it works in other house sockets. It's funny and sad. Wow. If he could just open his mind to the fact that he can be wrong sometimes, then maybe he'd be a little less rude, and wouldn't have to come up with such crazy statements to justify a failed repair. Also, that would have saved us all time, since arguing about this was no fun, and I still had to do the job myself, even though I paid a service call. These people are capable of a good repair, but the problem is if things don't go well. Rather than just listening, and considering the possibility that they might not have understood the issue correctly, the customer gets an ear full of defensive-mode talk. It's just a bunch of crazy talk with a hostile attitude. I didn't want to write this review. Mistakes happen, but my complaint is their refusal to admit a mistake, and then insisting on fictions that aren't even possible in a Hobbit movie. That's deliberate, and unethical. read more

We purchased an LG dishwasher from Lowe's and the installation price was more than the washer. Our friend suggested that we contact Expert Appliance Repair and they gave us a much better price. The service representative, Adam, was very nice and professional. He did an exceptional job. When we ran the dishwasher some water was left in the bottom of the dishwasher. I called the office, left a VM, within 5 minutes I received a call back. They walked me through the problem and resolved the issue over the phone. The owner wanted me to call them after the weekend to tell them if the problem was resolved. It has been a long time that I have had a company care about their customers service. Okay so... I called this company, along with several others, and left a message looking to find someone who could come out and service my dishwasher. Regan (the owner) called me back within a few minutes and this was honestly one of the most helpful conversations I have ever had over the phone. I told him what exactly was going on with my Frigidaire dishwasher and he listened attentively and asked several follow up questions. He then gave his honest assessment based on the age of the dishwasher and the issues we were experiencing. He told me that in my case the best thing would be to save my money on trying to have it fixed, and rather I should look to have it replaced. This saved me from having to go through the timely, unnecessary, and costly process of having a service person come out for a fee, to determine what he did for me over the phone - for FREE. Not only that -and this is what really did it for me, he then spent another 10 minutes on the phone with me explaining from his own expertise, exactly what kind of specifications, brands, prices, and retailers I might want to consider when buying a dishwasher. He was extremely knowledgeable and I actually learned A LOT in this one conversation that saved me a ton of time, money, and having to do my own extensive research. (For example, I should look for a dishwasher with a rinse cycle because that is actually meant to be run on dishes that have not been rinsed at all, and this uses just over a gallon of water, where as pre-rinsing your dishes by hand uses about 8 gallons - Did you know this? Me neither.) My experience with this company (Expert Appliance Repairs - make sure you include the s at the end of Repairs, bc there is more than one) is that they go beyond being honest and fair, they are also helpful and generous. Oh also apparently this is a family run company. :) And although, thanks to him, we didn't need to pay anyone to come out, we will ABSOLUTELY call this company next time we are having an issue with one of our appliances. I have never been treated so badly by a company that claims they are so great with their customers. He actually hung up on me when discussing the poor job his son did on an ice maker repair. I paid $251.43 for a new ice maker replaced in freezer in Nov. It now is not working and I called the company and was given several instructions as to check the operation of the ice maker. He just didn't want to come out. Another company I called pulled the ice maker and found that it was 9 years old and was not a new icemaker that was put in. When I called the original company the owner was very defensive and argumentative regarding this service. I ask for a refund on the icemaker, which he refused. When I told him I could send him a picture of the ice maker's sticker showing it was 9 years old, he hung up on me. So this is why I'm giving them a bad review. Don't use these people.. read more

We just moved to our current location and had several appliance problems. Our washer quit, the ice maker didn't work, and the drier vent needed hooked up. They came out right on time, they are very polite and knowledgeable. He looked at all three and told us he could order an ice maker but the frig. is about 15 to 20 years old and a new ice maker would cost about $300., we declined. He said that the washing machine would take to much to fix it and the drier was hooked up correctly. All in all he could have charged us to fix 2 appliances that aren't worth fixing but he was very honest read more

I like to support small businesses. Unfortunately I had a very bad experience with this company. I had a noisy clothes dryer. When the tech. checked it out-said that it should be replaced soon but I could use it temporarily. OK He charged $109 and left. I did a wash, put the load in the dryer and now it no longer worked.He left knowing it didn't work but didn't tell me. Who does that? It would have been better if I had never contacted them--now the dryer doesn't work at all. When I asked for a partial refund, the father denied it.
